I was in Birmingham Alabama, and it's been about 20 years since last there. The area of Crestwood, Lakeview and Highland have all made some great strides to become even better neighborhoods. So, while looking for property to purchase or lease I stumbled on Crestwood Cafe. Being very pro-cafe and coffee, I decided to try them over a local starbucks. That was the first mistake. The second was going inside, the third was using the bathroom. At the owner of a travel company I pride myself on finding great places for my clients to enjoy as I travel the country and post my experiences. This time I have little to say good about this nasty, dark, dirty, dingy, did I say dirty shop. Though the new owners were friendly and helpful, the coffee was not so good. They do offer more than just the scone or donut, but when I looked around I don't know if I would eat anything that came out of their kitchen. The gray walls, and every table I went to sit at was dirty and the chairs had food debris on them too. There were smokers out side on the walk way and that smoke wafted inside anytime a customer came in the door. I think this place has potential, but it needs an overhaul on the decor the bathroom and the owners instead of taking breaks and sitting outside to have a smoke with friends should have been cleaning their floors, tables and bathrooms. I'll be back in B'ham again over the next year and I hope Crestwood has cleaned up its act or it might be better off closing its doors and opening a thrift store. I look in on them again, but if nothing has changes I will be telling all my customers in the Alabama area and in the country who might visit there to try the local starbucks. And that would be a real shame, since I am not a starbucks fan.
