If you're feeling triumphant head to Bourbon Street: a bar for winners. Have you ever had one of those mornings where you pour your cereal, fumble through the dishes for a clean bowl, rinse of a spoon, go to the fridge and realize you have no milk? Well, Bourbon Street is not that. You will not be let down. Don't forget; Bourbon Street is where baby's are made.

This is a KARAOKE bar. If you like karaoke good place to go . Not very big so you will definitely be shoulder to shoulder. Prices are reasonable and bartenders are great. They have a drink calked a baby and a premie. The baby is a large pickle jar and the premie is half the size. You choose your choice of gin or vodka.

I'm visiting from out of town, and my college friends brought me to Bourbon Street Bar and Lounge. I enjoyed the layout and the variety of the bar. The male employees however made this an incredibly uncomfortable bar to be at. I personally had a bartender try to come up behind me to align the correct shot for pool, and he made misogynistic comments towards me and my friends the rest of the night. My friends mentioned that it was their first time at this bar without a male friend, so this behavior by an employee is extremely concerning. At the end of the night, instead of allowing us to close our tab, he tried making other men at the bar close it for us. It's 2015, we can take care of ourselves. We also waited for our names to be called for karaoke, but it never happened, so we left early.

Located in an old Pizza Hut with boarded up windows, Bourbon Street gives you exactly what your prejudice mind expects. The regulars that are ponied up to the bar 7 nights a week have an average age of 67, as do the bartenders. During the week, they will be your only company. They are all really entertaining, including the miniature poodle that belongs to one of the lady patrons. When the weekend hits, it's a whole different story. Bourbon Street quickly becomes the hippest dive in the Birmingham-metro. Karaoke is king and The Baby is the drink of choice. Named for it's size, The Baby comes in a giant jar (about the size of a newborn) and contains nothing more than vodka or gin, sugar, limes, and ice. When served, you're instructed to shake your baby for five to ten minutes to mix the simple ingredients. I'm not a vodka guy, but it's actually pretty tasty. What do you do if you want the experience, but not the full baby? Easy, just order a premi... seriously.

If you've been to Bourbon Street, then I'm pretty sure I can tell you how your night went: You were probably already a bit hazy upon walking in the door. You then ordered up that dangerously delicious mixture of vodka/gin, sugar and lemon called a "Baby." It came lovingly swaddled in a terrycloth bar towel, you kissed it gently and then shook it up. Always, always shake that baby! After, literally, a few sips of the "baby", you're pretty...loose. You can now start flipping through that giant binder of 'classics' to pick out your song. You probably yelled something like, "Oh, my God guys. This song was my jam in high school!" Don't be embarrassed, everyone else is pretty 'loose' as well. Your name was called and you gave what was, surely, the best rendition that has ever been done. Seriously, you brought it. I feel really sorry for the person that was up after you.
