Creme Brûlée French Toast... Delicious! Unfortunately, the food on the cruise was awful. Fortunately that made us find this delicious breakfast at the Westmark! We were greeted immediately and told just to pick any place to sit. The restaurant was pretty busy and found out they were one of the only places in Sitka with a full breakfast menu. Our waiter was very polite. He kept our coffee refilled frequently which is always good for me. I ordered the Creme Brûlée French Toast with sausage, hash browns and eggs. It was the first breakfast I enjoyed since we left on the cruise. So delicious. The french toast had a great sweet flavor. Again... that's right up my alley. The sausage link was much larger than what I was used to. Very tasty. The hash browns probably could have been cooked longer but I had plenty of french toast to fill my stomach. If you want a great breakfast in Sitka, visit The Westmark.

Food was good but the overall service was the bad the customer next me spilled his water all over and on me and no one asked how I was. The service was bad we had to ask for silverware for are ice cream pie by time we got it the pies started melting we had to ask two times for are coffee. Overall next time I'm in town I will not eat at this place.

Delicious chowder, but the worst fish tacos I have ever had. They were cold and the mango salsa was mushy and had no flavor.

I will be honest I was not sure what to expect given the reviews on here. I hadn't been to this location previously but I was afforded the opportunity because of my job. The appetizers our table got were stuffed mushrooms and toasted ravioli. They were both Awesome! I thought they were great with fantastic cheese in both. I ordered the pork tenderloin (with honey bourbon I believe). FANTASTIC! It was cooked just right with a tinge of pink in some of the pieces but not too much. Really great cuts of meet and the flavor was amazing. They came with a side of mashed potatoes. I am never a fan of mashed potatoes at restaurants but these ones were GREAT. The bread rolls were really yummy too. Other people at our table had the lamb which was very well liked, the black cod which was highly favored, fish and chips which was a success and the salmon which was raved about. I was too stuffed to order dessert so I cannot attest, but I wish I had. I was pleasantly surprised and I would recommend it to others looking for a nice meal. The meals seem to be on the higher priced end but the quality seemed to match. The service was possibly a hair on the slow side but not painful. Overall I recommend it highly. I know there had not be a ton of recent reviews so I wanted to add my experience to the list.

We stopped by for lunch on our way back to the cruise ship and was pleasantly surprised. The reviews for this place wasn't great, but we decided to take a chance. We had the Caesar salad and seafood roll. The salad was great, the seafood roll was not my cup of tea. But I am a little picky on my seafood, it was alright. The service was very friendly and the food came relatively fast. We would definitely stop back by next time we are in town.

I really enjoyed it. Clam chowder was really good, not gloppy at all. Also got the appetizer that was artichoke, cheese, and crab, very tasty.

Very unsatisfactory. Food and service were quite marginal. The fish and chips was 24 bucks but fish and fries were very oily. And it took over an hour and a half to get our meals despite the light dinner crowd.

Best fish and chips ever, but grouchy hostess and server ruined the meal!

Ate here today when we got off our ship - all 10 of us. We ordered burgers, hot dog, fried fish, fried halibut sandwiches and the salmon sandwich. We also had the clam chowder, calamari and the fried habanero cheese. We were quite disappointed in the service as it took almost 1.5 hours to get our lunch. The clam chowder was pretty good and was a bit unusual with potatoes and such. The fried fish special was certainly not worth the $24 price with only 3 small pieces of fish. Sadly this was an overpriced, under serviced place to eat.

Needed a break from cruise food. Excellent chicken fried steak and clam chowder. Surprisingly good food!

This place was ok. I ordered Crab chowder and they brought me the corn chowder instead. Nothing to flip out over as it was alright, but not what I ordered. The salmon sandwich made up for it.

Had the best Clam Chowder in my life here! Also tasty salmon and halibut sandwhiches! Hats off to the new chef!

My husband and I have given this place multiple chances, always hopeful that this experience will be better than our last. It never is. RUDE staff, terrible service, over-priced and the food is mediocre at best. Today, we waited 45 mins just to get our food, we both ordered burgers. Don't waste your time or your money.

"Would you like to try our world famous chowder?" he asked "Why Yes I believe that would be excellent, bring me a bowl please" I replied When you have something on the menu called "The Best Chowder in the World" you had better have something to back you up! I had envisioned tasty morsels of clam, potato, bacon, spices to warm my heart. Being from Oregon, I knew "world famous" clam chowder. I travel a bit for work and go to the Oregon Coast on occasion. Places like - MO's in Lincoln City, Da Chowder Bowl in Newport, Sea Hag in Depoe Bay are all Chowder Haunts for this puppy. So I have some experience with Chowder. When I got my bowl, it looked unappetizing. It had the appearance like WHITE GLOOP. Sticky gloopy almost like white pastey gel. "Okay I'm thinking let's see how it tastes?" EW - not good. It was an over-salted gloopy mess. The clams were favorable but the rest was absolutely horrible. Maybe someone else will think differently but I like Chowder not Paste. I felt like I was in Hells Kitchen episode and had just received a dish from Chef Ramseys students who somehow snuck out a plate. I thought at any minute TV crews would appear and ask "what do you think of the Chowder" But no such luck. I did like the bread - fresh bread that came with it, but I won't order that at this place again. I give one extra star for the bread. Yikes I'm Chowder Shy now. I need to go back to my favorite hunts just to purge my soul of this Chowder Nightmare I went through.

I am from Alaska and was in town on business and pleasure. I ordered dinner. Salmon spread appetizer came with Ritz crackers instead of something classier like bread. Dinner salad was basic with a slice of cucumber and one cherry tomato. The worst was a New York steak. No flavor at all but worse half of it was gristle and sinewy fat. I struggled to eat it and finally gave up. Summoning the non-existent waiter I pointed to the mess on my plate and asked for the manager. No manager came but instead.... I got a piece of salted Carmel chocolate cake as a sympathy prize and he proudly proclaimed "the bill is taken care of", which it wasn't - the cake was free but the tough, flavorless "best in Ketchikan" steak was still there. Funny, in the elevator advert, the cake was billed as "oozing with creamy Carmel and buttercream, ganache and more caramel." What I got was a frozen layer cake with no carmel in sight. No bill adjustment. No manager. No acknowledgement the steak was inedible. I didn't bother to leave a tip. If nobody there gives a shit, why should I ? Noteworthy was that I heard someone ask for the soup of the day and I heard the waiter say " there's been some problems executing the soup tonight so we are sticking with the chowder." Oh. I wanted to ask if the chef even came to work...maybe someone in the kitchen should be executed...or the manager.

Had their awesome half pound specialty burger (topped with red and green peppers) and sweet potato fries as my side. Fantastic! Friendly bartender and nice ambience... Would definitely visit this spot again if and when I come back to Sitka

The last review here was 2010, so an update is in order. They got a new chef, must be better than the old one. As a clam chowder fan and crafter, this stuff was good! Creamy, silky, chock full 'o clams. Not 'gloppy'. Good. Nom nom good. The bits 'o beef app was delightful too. Martini's near frozen, yay. Bacon wrapped scallops overdone the 1st time, but a word to the waiter made everything better. You'll do worse in this town...

Went to this restaurant twice because it was off season and the place we wanted to go was closed. The food was good but slow! It took so long to get prime rib the waiter had too apologize twice. Ordered an Irish Coffee which was so bad I sent it back and the waiter again apologized and comped our other beverages. The decor is mid 70's cafeteria.

So so. I had chowder that they said was world famous. I don't think it really is. Unless it's famous for something other then the taste.

I ate at this hotel restaurant a couple of times in 2005 and 2006, both during the tourist season and after... The menu offered a decent selection of seafood dishes, appropriate to the location in rainy Southeast Alaska. The food was not outstanding, but the dining room offers a nice view of the harbor. We brought along a bottle of wine, and there was no corkage fee. Service was friendly and diverse- people from everywhere seem to relocate to small towns in coastal AK, to pursue hobbies like diving, and make ends meet in service occupations.
