Eaten here a few times over the week I spent here. Lived the Special Sandwich and Fresh Dough Roll. They make their own bread here and pizzas look great!

The bones of the restaurant are incredible. Beautiful layout, great furniture, smartly decorated. It was practically empty with the exception of a couple of guys at the bar and one family by the window, so I think this is going to be a great brunch spot with little to no wait. I've been wanting to check this place out from my week visit in March when I peered in the window and saw a good looking plate of food.....then the f**cking nightmare began. So as a new resident to the island, I'm looking for a good haunt to bring visiting family and friends when they visit. Despite a pricey menu, I think, why not? Let's splurge a little. Two mimosas (which were orange juice with just a HINT of champagne at 8 bucks a pop) and two hot chocolates (at four bucks a pop and obviously from a packet). Alright, I'm a little irked, but that's my lesson for next time, right? WRONG. We finally order after 20 minutes and spend the next 45 minutes waiting for a smoked salmon benedict which was OK at best, under cooked pancakes for the kids, and two sides of bacon (which were advertised on the menu for $3 a side, but they charged us $5) and a caprese salad which didn't have any basil. The place started to fill up and you could see that "WTF" look from other patrons that were sitting there for 20 minutes minimum before the waitress showed up. A few tables just got up and walked away, really, literally. So I'm pissed, but still trying to be cool, even after a $68.48 check which added insult to injury. I know that if I wait for the waitress, paying the bill will take another 20 minutes. I go up to the bar, give her $80, and she gives me back $11 in change, so I ask, where's my .52 cents? "Oh, we round up". HUH? So you piss away my time (we were there for an hour and fifteen minutes), I'm over charged for mediocre food, (I know it's pricey on the island, I live here), and now you want to keep money that isn't yours? I was about to leave two bucks on a $68 check till she came over and gave me .55 cents and says "I found you some change". You know this place has the ambiance to be a great restaurant, but it's going to go belly up, I'd bet on it. No one is going to go there except for tourists who don't know any better. Good luck in the winter when it's just the locals. Call Chef Ramsey already, this place is an effing disaster, I'm never going back and you have no business running a restaurant. BTW, don't post fake reviews on your own restaurant with pictures of menus, it's just bad form.

This place was such a disaster it was humerus. My husband and I came here around lunch time. I noticed the menu was huge, and that worried me because when a restaurant tries to do to much it's usually an epic fail. Unfortunately I was correct. I got the prosciutto panini and my husband ordered a medium combo pizza. We waited a long time and the waitress came out and said oh it's coming. She serves me the panini. My husband is still waiting on the pizza. The fries were cold and tasteless, they forgot to put cheese in my sandwich and it had no sauce. It was pretty much huge French bread with cold prosciutto. It was awful. I nibbled at it. We're still waiting on the pizza. The waitress comes back and says I'm sorry pizzas on me because it still wasn't ready. We've been here for about 45mins now. We're frustrated and at this point and we want to just leave. So I ask for the check. She brings it and it isn't even ours. It had salmon chives and ice tea on it? My husband goes to the front and said that's not ours and she said the pizza is the same price. What?! You just said you'd comp us the pizza. So I was like no that's not right and I went up to front. So finally she just charges me for the panini ($12) and no the pizza still wasn't ready. We planned on just leaving. Then it came of and they put it in a to go box. (It was large not a medium) We took it but at this point we don't even want it. I did not leave a tip. I will never return. I suggest you don't either. Horrible service, awful food. Ooh and btw I look at my credit card a couple days later and she did charge me $35. How will this business survive? They clearly are scamming their customers. P.S. Almost all the photos posted are posted from the restaurant. I seriously hope they go out of business.

I've been here a few times now and the menu is extremely over priced. The waiters are hit and miss. The food is average at best. The best thing about the place is the layout and rustic vibe that keeps me coming back.

Prompt service, friendly staff, beautiful new renovation...oh, and great food too. The burger I had today was the best I've had in town. Avocado, bacon, and cheese, yum! Also, bring your kids. They have very clean bathrooms, a kids menu, and delicious soft serve ice cream that is worth a stop in and of itself. I highly recommend, and I will definitely be going back.

Ill start by saying the Food is really good! Unfortunately they have some MAJOR opening week glitches to get figured out, but im only holdig that against them because im am fairly sure they wont get them ironed out. I went the first day and they said i was good to go ahead and order lunch at 11am, so i did and i did not get my to-go order (for 2 sandwiches) for 40 minutes. So being on my lunch break i had to inhale the food in order to get back in time. The second day when i walked in the server recognized me and stated that the kitchen was ready to go for lunch today, so i didnt have to worry about a long wait like yesterday. Unfortunately that was not the case. Shortly after i ordered they started telling people that they were "transitioning" between breakfast and lunch, and that they were "serving neither", this went on for everyone that walked in the door for the next 45 minutes saying in each instance that it would just be "10 minutes" until the kitchen was ready to serve lunch. Well i guess they must shut down the whole kitchen and swap everything out in a 1 hour process when at peak time they are serving "no food" and again it was a bit frustrating that the whole hour they were telling peopl that they could place an order in "10 minutes" Again i am a bit concerned that this will not get ironed out because it seems less like oppening glitches and more like the owners/chef being picky about the way that they transition between meals, and holding the production on food specifically to make a point about the transition period between breakfats and lunch. Again the food i have had so far has been really good, and i will keep giveing them a few more chances for the foods sake, but not too many more! I really hope they do iron these things out because my lunch break is always at 11am, and i dont have over an hour to sit there and wait. Once they have fixed these issues i will certainly revise my review. *I also want to add that in every case the servers have been great. Very courtious and attentative.

The Pizza and Pasta are consistent but your best bet would be order to go. The service is extremely hit or miss. The servers are okay but they usually have one server for the whole place on busy weekend nights. Ive ordered the same salad 5 times in a row and gotten something different everytime. The 'grilled' chicken is terrible. Way overcooked and rubbery. The one time i ordered salmon on my salad, it was raw inside. None of the food looks like the pictures in here. Those must have all been posted by an owner. They call it a 'sweets' place but they hardly have any desserts. When ordering the nitella crepes in the evening, the server recommended against it because 'the cook would have to make the batter and that would probably take a long time.' This restaurant would never survive anywhere but kodiak and im surprised it has survived here.

5 stars for Kodiak. This was my fourth trip to Kodiak, two for business and two for fun. This time I had my retired parents with me and they wanted a sit down dinner alternative to the packed place next door without having Japanese. We decided to give Aquamarine a try, even though it was empty. My parents are seafood fiends, and Aquamarine satisfied them enough to be chosen two nights in a row. We shared 3 dishes each night. Both nights our waiter was super friendly, if not a little new, but really impressive as he made it fun and personable to be there. He wasn't just collecting a paycheck, he truly and very obviously cared a lot about the food. Both nights my mom had to ask him for the dinner roll that was advertised to be served wih her halibut and he made some grumbling comments about the kitchen. One night he brought garlic bread and the other a store-bought roll. Small potatoes though. Dinner one: we shared Halibut Iliamna, the nightly special. It was similar to Halibut Olympia with perfect halibut. perfect halibut, 'nuff said. We also had some scallops, which were good and gobbled by my parents. I focused in the smoked salmon flat bread (pizza by another name) which was my version of crack. Intensely addictive, I ate way more than I should have. The person developing the flavors and dosing the fresh herbs knew what they were doing. We three left very happy. There was no question: we'd be back. Night toe we had crab cakes, which were a compliment to their name: lots of crab, lots of flavor, pleasant texture. I enjoyed picking off tiny shreds and savoring every bite. We also had Halibut Olympia, which was, again, perfect halibut. Three happy diners. I forget our third dish. After having it pitched both nights, we tried their one and only dessert, "Greek" doughnuts with "ice cream". This was total junk food- get it if that's what you're going for. I do t regret eating it but I wouldn't order it again. But I am a person who is picky about which desserts are worth the damage. This was a bowl of soft serve. With a bowl of deep fried phyllo triangles sprinkled with cinnamon sugar. Not rocket science folks, sounds like it would be good for parties at 4am. I can't speak to lunch or the meat dishes, but if you want seafood other than your basic fish and chips, check out Aquamarine cafe.

The food is pretty awful. I try going twice and the second time just gets worse. I will not eat here again! I can't believe other people put five stars.
