We ordered the Thai Egg Rolls and Chicken Satay for appetizers. There were almost too many of the egg rolls. Of course we ate them all but I didn't think we needed that many. The Chicken Satay was a little on the underdone side. In fact, one piece was still raw so we didn't eat it. The other pieces were quite moist and the seasoning was good. For dinner we got the Red Curry with Chicken and the Pad Thai. They were both good. Not the best Thai I've ever had but still good. Too much dinner to have dessert but next time.

Thai House Fairbanks, Alaska Ordered: Chicken Phad Kee Mao aka Drunkin Noodles (medium) Chicken Pad Thai (medium) I came to this Thai restaurant on a recommendation and I had heard good things. They do not use a number scale to determine how spicy you prefer your entree, instead they have 1) mild 2) medium 3) hot . Just a side note the "medium" Phad Kee Mao is on the spicy side. I didn't mind because I like spicy foods however if you normally order a 3 on a scale of 1-5 you might consider the mild option not the medium because medium is pretty spicy. Everyones taste is different. Both meals were really good. I just wish the Phad Kee Mao had more vegetables but it was still good. I had ordered take out and it was ready in a timely manner and they remembered to include utensils. Service was friendly. I did go inside the restaurant to pick up the food, it's filled with Thai decor that's interesting to look at while waiting for your food. The table and chairs are out dated but so is just about every restaurant in Fairbanks ...the focus is on the food and less on out dated chairs. I would return to this restaurant because the food was good, the service was friendly and The wait time was minimal.

One wouldn't necessarily expect a Restaurant located as remotely as Fairbanks Alaska to rival its contemporaries in New York, San Francisco or Chicago, but having enjoyed Thai food in all four I will say without a doubt that this place is the best. I know, it seems unlikely but it's true. The Pad See Ew was so good that I would have caused myself to burst if my wife didn't stop me. The Panang Curry, which my wife ordered, caused me to forget all about the mastery that was the Pad See Ew on account of its rich delicious flavor. Again, I could have eaten until the paramedics were required. Even the sauce on the ample egg rolls was to die for. Top it off with some hot tea and you have had an amazing meal. Come to this place. Eat here. It is beyond words.

UPDATE: Went there again, got the Pad See-Ew. This place fucking rocks. Service is great, food is pretty good, albeit portions are a bit small. Really nothing bad at all about this place, it's just not outstanding.

We saw so many Thai restaurants in Fairbanks and weren't sure which one we should try because they all have the same rating. Our bus driver recommended this one over some others and we just took his advice . We were not disappointed. Went here for lunch with some couples from our tour group and we all enjoyed it immensely We got thai bbq chicken, beef panang curry, pad thai and beef salad. We cleaned the plates and were all very happy . Wish we could bring this Thai place in Denver ...

Fantastic food! The pad Thai is amazing (my mouth is watering thinking of it). The staff are all very nice as well. The lunch menu/portion size is well priced and still a lot of food. The pictures of the ruling family in Thailand on the wall proved to me the authenticity of the place as well.

On a visit to Fairbanks, I came upon this place by pure luck. A few restaurants that I was looking into were closed on Monday, so I decided to come here. They are open for lunch and dinner, but closed from 4 - 5 PM. We came early for dinner, around 6 and by the time we were done the place was getting pretty busy. The decor is authentic and brings some color and life into the snowy climate around Fairbanks. The food is a home run! My favorite dish was the fried halibut topped with red curry and string beans... The fish had that delicious, crispy taste (not oily) and the red curry was heavenly. We ate the rest by the spoonfuls right off the plate! The only thing they forgot was my Thai iced tea, but they were forgiven. The food was a major distraction and my only regret is not returning before we traveled south to Anchorage.

Great recommendation from our tour director Alicia R. The Pad Thai was delicious. Partner ordered seafood with black bean sauce. It was great. As an appetizer we ordered egg rolls which came out hot n tasty. Definitely recommend this to anyone who is either visiting of lives in Fairbanks.

When I first walked in, I immediately thought Asia. It was a quaint little place, but The decorations were awesome and the staff was so nice. The kitchen door was wide open, however, and you could see hear the chefs screaming at each other in Thai. I got shrimp Pad Thai...it was DELICIOUS! I've had lots of other Pad Thai's before, but this was one of the best. The only thing about it was that the shrimp in it wasn't detailed, so I had to stick my fingers in it to detail them all BUUUUT...overall the food was amazing. The noodles and the shrimp had he perfect amount of spice and delicious texture. The bean sprouts were soft and watery, and the tofu had the perfect amount of chewiness, spice and the nice kick of Asian flavor. Don't underestimate little huts downtown! I'm on a hunt for the best Pad Thai in town and this one will definitely be high in my list. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I did.

We just ate at the Thai House for the first time. The service was terrible. Our server was rude, got our order wrong and blamed us. She wouldn't talk to anyone in the group or acknowledge our compliments to the food. The service ruined what would have otherwise been an excellent meal. However, the food was fantastic. Best Pad Thai I have ever had, Drunken Noodles were also excellent.

Some of the best Thai I've had in the U.S. The servers were excellent and attentive. The atmosphere was casual but classy. And the food was phenomenal and appropriately spiced.

Try their chicken yellow curry. The curry is the best. Beef was a little dry though. The drunken noodle itself is pretty good

Came to Fairbanks from Seattle to visit family. While I'm not a Thai food expert, I will say I've had my fair share and this, shockingly, is among the best I've ever had! Wife got the red curry w/chicken and I got the pad thai, both with brown rice. If I could freeze the stuff and ship it home, I would. It was that good. Definitely a diamond in the rough! Service was slow to take initial drink order, but once we secured a waitress, everything was snappy and quick to come out. Quality of food more than compensated for this blemish in service! I may have to find an excuse to go back a second time before we leave.

Hands down the best meal I had in Alaska ! Highly recommend 23 on the menu , the crispy fish is so juicy and fresh . The Ton Kah(hope I spell it right ) warns us up and works perfect for a cold winter night . My fav is definitely the banana and coconut ice cream dessert thing , soooooooooo gooooooooood

First off, we are from Seattle so are used to an abundance of amazing Thai food. Everyone we asked about food in Fairbanks said Thai food was the thing here, and Thai House came recommended multiple times. We knew to expect bad service in Alaska, so that was no surprise. But the food was not impressive at all. The peanut sauce was incredibly thin and oily. You probably could've siphoned it off and powered an SUV. There were only two noodle dishes on the menu - drunken noodles and Pad Thai. We ordered both, and were let down by each. They weren't bad, just not flavorful by any means. Chicken was dry in everything. The fresh rolls were smushy and bland too. I wouldn't recommend coming here over other places in the area. Tiperos down the street also came recommended, and it looks better for the price.

Food was just okay here. Tom Yum soup ($13) was a bit salty but tasted good. I chose shrimp for my meat and was suprised to find 8 large pieces. Pad Kee Mao ($14) tasted quite average. There were some odd burnt pieces of veggies in it and noodles weren't as wide as I usually like. Good thing is they're open relatively late compared to many other restaurants in the area.

A co-worker chose this and I gave it a second shot. This time I let the others do the ordering and everything was amazing. We shared tom ka soup with shrimp: big juicy shrimp in a very fragrant coconut broth. Just thick enough but not too rich. We also had green curry with chicken: ordered mild this came out a little spicy, but was delicious. We also had an eggplant dish that was divine. Fresh rolls were as expected. I'm still not a fan of their rice but I was impressed: thus was warm and flavorful food. Also the place was packed, unlike most other places in downtown FBX.

This place definitely deserves my Thai stamp seal of approval. Forget all those that mentioned something along the line of "I am from X and Thai food is better." Well, I am from Thailand and grew up eating Thai food and I find this place excellent. My family shared an order of fried egg rolls and seafood stir-fried with basil and ginger. The seasoning was well done and the spicy level was perfect. We got plenty of rice to go along with our dinner. It was starting to get busy at the restaurant when we were there so the severs were a little slow with filling our water glasses, but it didn't bother me. I think this place is definitely a gem for Fairbanks residents. If you are from somewhere else and think that Thai food from where ever you are from is the best, don't bother coming here. If you are able to get out of that kind of mindset, then give Thai House a chance to impress your tastebud.

Very good Thai! We have favorites that were not on the menu and asked and they made them for us. Very cute location and the staff was friendly and helpful. Food was great! Would return again,

Service is not okay, we have to go to the counter to add dishes. They charge 15% tips automatically if total customers over 6 . The serving is small , okay taste. If the scale is 1-10 then i would say 4 . The only way I can understand why there are so many people come here which because it is the State of Alaska . Less restaurant and poor qualities ! I'd rather cook at hotel.

Excellent food! Fresh, very flavorful, served at the right temperatures. My tofu dish was prepared by someone who knows how tofu should taste - it was marinated and stir-fried and delicious! A friendly, homey place with attentive staff. We were there at lunch and it was very busy. The dining room is small so you may have a wait but they were also doing a brisk takeout business. Well worth a visit!

fairbanks is weirdly known for their awesome (and numerous) thai restaurants, making it difficult to pick a favorite...but this one is mine. And i think this is probably most fairbanksans favorite. the beef with basil is my go-to here but everything i've ever had is good.

Don't know Fairbanks too well except that it's not a dinners mecca. Ate dinner twice at the Thai Kitchen ( marinated lamb and parang beef curry ) and the dishes were good and very good. Staff ( appears to be the whole family working ) is fast and friendly. This is a safe place to eat if you like good Asian food.

  • Stephanie C.

Pretty ok Thai. It seemed authentic due to the Thai looking staff but I'm from NYC so nothing really compares. The drunken noodles could have been thicker, spicier, and more flavorful, they were a little weak and flimsy. But, it could have been worse. My dad had the Penang curry I think, and my mom had a stir fry- pra khing, if I recall and both were standard. There are a few others places in town to try for Thai but hey it was a cheap lunch in Fairbanks and the service is prompt and polite. They have a decent amount of tables as well.

We've been regulars at the Thai House for years! It's my favorite Thai restaurant in Fairbanks! Love the owners!! Always have great food and service. If something is wrong, just tell them and they'll fix it! Some of our family's favorite dishes: chicken green and red curry, shrimp fried rice, egg rolls, beef mushroom, silver noodle, beef salad plus whatever else Pui (spelling?) recommends. They take a break from 4-5 so plan accordingly.

awesome food in a very unlikely place to get such great thai food! we got the: 1. pad thai(good). i thought it was a bit salty but my mom thought it was great. 2. green curry(excellent). i thought it was spicy enough but my mom liked her dish better ,ah well. 3. spring rolls- huge, and VERY tasty service was a bit slow at first but they actually listened to my 'i hate cilantro' request and made us new spring rolls without the vile weed. they even brought extra , fresh cilantro for my mom (she loves that ) when she asked for it. price was great. we got all this for under 30 bucks!. and we had lots of leftover food which we could not take with us because of our travel arrangements. if im ever in the area again, ill come back here!

I've had great experiences both times I came here. I should try all the Thai restaurants in Fairbanks before making a valid comparison but maybe the servers read the yelp reviews and made some changes before I got there. In any respect, this little place is my favorite (for now). The service has always been prompt, polite and not awkward. You have to take in account the culture and customs, This doesn't make the servers uncomfortable, just a different race. Spice, sweetness, texture combined with white rice round out an abundance of amazing, stomach-satisfying flavors. Don't be afraid to try new entrees! They provide a good description of each meal and pictures to help you decide. The decor allows you to feel the authenticity, not only for the dishes but the culture as well. I will try the other Thai establishments and make comparisons in the future. For now, Thai House feels like my house, a second home to get away from the freezing wind and warm up with a bowl of Tom Yum Gung and commune with friends.

Not bad. Not bad at all. I'm freezing my ass off in Fairbanks so my intention was to come in for some Chicken Tom Yum... Ended up ordering the chix Panang Spicy and some fried eggrolls. Both were good, spice level was more of a medium... But it was good. I'll probably come back for that Tom yum before I leave. I just thought it was even cooler that I are at the farthest north Thai restaurant... And it was actually good :)

Appetizer consisted of Crispy Calamari. It wasn't bad, some pieces were over cooked, you could tell it wasn't fresh, but what do you expect in Fairbanks, AK in March! It did taste really good tho, I like their dipping sauce. I decided to not order my fav Pad Thai and decided to try their Drunken Noodle. It tasted great, although it was very light on the garlic, I am not sure I even tasted it. Also I think they overcooked the noodles as they fell apart real easy. But overall it tasted real good. I would definitely come back here again for some grub! NO AMEX! :(

If you have food allergies: BEWARE! I let the server know about my food allergy, as the menu (and common sense) dictates...The waitress rudely told me that all ingredients are listed on the menu for that reason, and then told me there was none of my allergen in my order. I started eating, got a weird feeling & asked again. She then said the sauce was made with what I'm allergic to!!! Had to double up on medication & get the epi-pen ready. Ugh. So scary. Never again.

We were hesitated to go to Thai restaurant after a bad experience in Skagway. However, we gave it a try and we were glad that we went there. First of all, the place is clean and well decorated. The house is half full when we get there. Our server was nice and friendly. We ordered Nam-sod and drunken noodle. The food tasted authentic Thai and was delicious. We had fried banana with ice cream for our dessert. It was awesome. I highly recommended it. However, it was written in their menu that the rice is extra charged. I came to understand why some review say the food is either too sweet or too salty because Thai food is normally eaten with rice, that way the taste will be balanced with rice. Overall, we were happy with this restaurant with good food, the portion was generous and the price was reasonable.

We were in town for just a few nights and were very fortunate to find this place right down the street from the Marriott Springhill Suites. The weather was nice and it was just a short walk. The restaurant owners felt they were running behind, so they brought us and other tables a small appetizer while we waited, which was not extremely long. I ordered the chicken curry and my friend ordered chicken fried rice. Both were really good! There was no way to finish either meal, so lucky us for seconds for later! We will definitely be going back next time we hit Fairbanks!

I was told by the locals that this was a good place to eat. They were right. Almost everything about it was exceptional. The fresh rolls were...well...fresh, delicious, refreshing, came with a great sauce and generous. I kept it simple and had tofu and vegetables with brown rice. The sauce was amazing. The other people at my table did real well. The yellow curry was incredible and the chicken with peanut sauce looked great, but I did not try it. The waitresses were dressed in traditional Thai garb. They were pleasant. The food came out quickly. The menu had a lot to offer and they have beer and wine here. The walls were covered with very cool art. The only drawback I could find was the table and chairs. It seems like having cool and comfortable tables and chairs is not a priority in restaurants in this town. I can live with that with food that good.

This is the only restaurant I go to that I can count on the food being awesome-no matter who's working. The food is always fresh!! Best Thai in Fairbanks without a doubt. Perfect portions, good service, fast, and fair prices. I get panang nur, fresh rolls, spring rolls, sweet and sour soup or pad thai (all yummy) The waitresses are lovely and the building feels clean, which is always a plus! Also, they're now open on Sundays--most Thai places aren't :)

Visiting Fairbanks on a tour so we took every opportunity to each away from the $50 per person HollandAmerica places. Our party of foyer split eggrolls; nothing special. Teenage boy had the BBQ chicken and was happy. Rest of party really loved Penang and red curries but the best was the squid and garlic dish. Very tender and really flavorful. The waitstaff was great and service was at the right pace, by which I mean ours. No rush to push us out, but still attentive. For the price and location I would recommend this establishment.

Very disappointed and we won't be returning. We have been long time customers but had a bad experience which includes poor service and food. Only 1 of 3 items we ordered were worthy of a positive review. The usually never bad pad Thai (a staple) was absolutely awful. The noodles were so over cooked that they stuck together and were mushy.; and on top of that somehow they managed to undercooked the chicken. We had only taken a few bites when we asked the waitress to replace the dish. The staff argued with us that it was "the same as always" and they refused to replace it. What really pissed me off is when they brought out a pad Thai to the couple sitting next to us and then asked them loudly if the pad Thai was as "good as usual". It takes a lot of nerve to question a customers integrity, and even if the neighbors food was great it doesn't have anything to do with ours. The eggplant dish we ordered was excellent, but last dish a beef with vegetables was undercooked and bland. In the end I told them I would pay for the dish but they have lost a customer. Ironically my usual 20% tip would have been more than the cost of the dish but instead the waitress and staff that tag teamed us received $0 tip.

We've been to Thai House for the pad thai and yellow curry. We liked the food. The last time we went the next table's waitress seemed to ignore her table's concern with the pad thai (which we had ordered). Barely one bite into our food and our waitress kind of loudly asked how the pad thai was (it was tasty, but the noodles were softer than usual). The waitress from the next table caught us off guard. She immediately came between our table and the next and loudly asked how the pad thai was--if it tasted the same as before. We were asked this a few times rather loudly. Though we liked the food, we will not be going back on account of the poor service to the next table and feeling like we were used to prove the pad thai was ok.

Our Thai friend from the Bay told us to come here to eat yummy Thai food. Some in our party were skeptical of going all the way up north in Fairbanks, only to eat Thai food but we had a couple of nights so we threw caution to the Arctic wind and came here for dinner. It was really good, it was better than more than a handful of Thai places I can think of in the Bay. We got it all medium spicy and it was perfect, the spice creeped in and stayed for a couple of minutes. The food was almost the perfect balance of the Thai flavors of sweet, salty, sour, and spicy. I do think all the dishes were a little too heavy handed on the sweet flavor but it didn't deter us from polishing off all our dishes. We got the pad kee mow noodle dish, the tom yum soup, the deep fried talapia house special (served in a fish shaped dish), and the sweet sticky rice with coconut ice cream dessert. The servings were pretty big and the staff was really nice and paid attention to our needs. It was pretty busy in there the night we went, seems to be a locals spot as well as where the airline employees eat. Lots of families with kids and people on dates. The decor was beautiful, felt like it all came from Thailand. The table next to us got an order of the eggrolls which was pretty big, too. For about $9 you got 8 medium sized eggrolls that looks piping hot and fresh off the fryer.

Not a big Thai food fan, but overall this place was good. Alot of people have told me that this is some of the best Thai food they've had. I couldn't tell you since I don't usually eat Thai food and when I do my selection is pretty blah. I ordered the chicken fried rice. They serve you a generous portion. My only complaint is its a little pricey. $13.00 for my fried rice.

HOLY DELICIOUS! We were recommended this restaurant by the staff at the University museum and they had it right on. We also saw the Yelp reviews and thought it would be a good choice. We had the drunken noodles and curried fish and both were amazing!!! We had left overs to take with us to eat at the airport before flying home to San Francisco where we also have some great Thai. If I lived in Fairbanks, Thai House would be a regular stop!

Good Thai food. I have not ordered anything from here that disappointed me. If you like larb, please get it here over the Thai restaurant in North Pole. The Thai restaurant in North Pole is mediocre and their larb is extremely bland. This is the place to order larb. While, I have had better Thai in the lower 48, this is still really good Thai food and I plan to keep ordering from them! I have always experienced good service as well.

Wanted some good thai food and chose between Bahn Thai and Thai House, based on Yelp reviews. I came for lunch and was greeted by a sweet, 40 something, Thai woman in a beautiful outfit, probably also Thai. I sat and ordered fresh rolls without pork($8.95), and panang curry ($9.95) with chicken out of choice between that and beef. The rolls were good with a sweet and sour sauce, and had egg, herb, rice noodles, and lettuce and carrot. Well rounded out flavors. I ordered red curry with chicken, even though I wanted tofu (they cannot substitute, but will add to the dish). Limited vegetarian options. Total bill $19. Big lunch with leftovers. My favorite part of lunch was when the server boxed my lunch for me at the table. She was sweet and efficient.

There's definitely a few Thai places to choose from in Fairbanks. I have to say that this place tops all the others! I've gone there a few times and will say that their drunken noodles and pad thai was amazing! And when I asked for the dishes to be spicy, boy were they spicy! Definitely a plus in my book to find spicy Thai food. Their thai tea was also very delicious. We usually order thai tea as our drinks and even order some to go with us. My husband usually order their bbq pork or beef and he always says it's good so I'll take his word for it. We haven't tried any desserts since we were always too full after munching down our dishes. Overall it's a good place and I would recommend it if you're in the mood for Thai food!

Well, this review may be a little skewed. I had been on the north slope for two months, and this was the first meal we had when we got back to civilization...so anything was gonna taste amazing! But, it really was good! I had Pad Thai and two Thai coffees (YUM!). Really good, classic Pad Thai! We also tried the spring rolls. We had a big group and the service was still very quick and good! It does get really crowded during lunch, but they seemed to seat everyone fairly quickly. For Thai food in Alaska...top notch!

This is one of the better Thai places in Fairbanks/North Pole. I am a huge fan of Thai food and this is my favorite place thus far. I got the drunken noodles and a Thai iced tea. Amazing. I left full and happy. I will drive to town to get this Thai food any day. Service wasn't too bad either. Our waitress was very sweet.

I was told by an Alaskan friend that Fairbanks is like the Thai food capital of America, and there are certainly plenty of offerings. She told me that Lemon Grass is top of the town, and if it is (I didn't go), Thai House must be the second best -- and it's walking distance from the downtown hotels. The Yum Woon Sen blew my freaking mind. The panang chicken was succulent, sweet and tender. The pad thai was a shining example of its nutty, eggy, citrusy kind. (I ate here a few times.) My coworker seemed to have a life-changing experience because of the tea. Ambience? Not so much. But what will you care? You should be face down in your noodles.

food was good, service was very slow, our waters never got refilled. However, the place was packed, and busy. good menu with nice choices and for the area very good prices so I would suggest to go a bit early for dinner avoid the rush and you may end up with 5 stars :)

Got into Fairbanks late, hungry, and tired. Thank you yelp. Great food, nice little place, an easy walk from our downtown hotel. The chicken satay was wonderful, a nice 6 piece serving. I had the shrimp pad thai. Lately, the pad Thai in anchorage has been a little too orange and wangy, but this was very tasty. My husband had Gang Tao hoo with tofu and cartelized onions...very good. It seems like full circle-we discovered yelp in anchorage trying to find a decent Thai place, but almost peed our pants laughing about the Thai town reviews. "the worst, eeeww, etc". Yelp saved us from eating at the "worst Thai restaurant in America" (thai town) then, and helped us find one of the best tonight (Thai house)

My coworker and I were working in Fairbanks and looking for something local. When someone told me there was good Thai food in Fairbanks, I balked. But, I was dead wrong. The Spicy and Sour soup was bomb! And, the Pad Thai was really delicious too. I had chicken with beans and it was very tasty. When your itemized check comes to the table written in Thai, you know your getting the real deal. I only wish they were down the street!!!

For the so called "best" Thai restaurant in Fairbanks (and there are many Thai places) they couldn't even get Pad Thai right. It was dripping in sauce and way too sweet. I'd avoid the Pad Thai and try a curry instead.

Visiting from out of town, and this is the best food we've had in Fairbanks. The staff is friendly and attentive. Great food and great service!

Stay away! There was NO service when I attended this restaurant. The food was good, but without water/refills or a napkin what's the point? Not once did a server ask if I needed anything, not once!

I'm not going to spend more than 5 minutes writing this review because they don't deserve it. I'm so glad I didn't spend anyof *my* money here; just a gift certificate from my employer because I would've probably robbed the place to get my $25 back. Fried bananas and ice cream: Don't get it. Ice cream was grainy and the fried bananas smelled moldy and was dripping with grease. I had one bite and tossed it. What a waste. Yellow curry: I had originally ordered this but the woman said they couldn't add spice to it so I switched to a red curry. Red curry: I ordered it HOT; got it medium. :/ They didn't do anything spectacular with the tofu; just cut it up into little cubes and poured it into my plastic to-go cup. Wooooow, I could've done that!!! Rice: Probably the only redeeming quality in this place. They didn't have brown rice though. Wtf??! Service: I stood in the front waiting to be seated for about 6 minutes while 3 employees looked at me. Fed up, I just walked to the counter and ordered to-go and it still took them another 2 minutes to say a word to me. Ok, I know I'm a little taller than the average asian but I.AM.STILL.ONE.OF.Y'ALL! Parking: Wtf is this???! You have the option of street or a cramped little parking lot you wouldn't be able to park your truck/normal sized sedan in. You're golden if you drive a lego.

Just ate here in spite of mixed reviews. We were seated immediately and given water within 30 seconds. We ordered eggplant with basil and black bean sauce which was really tasty. The eggplant was grilled. And by the way, as a nice touch, the server dished our rice out for us. We also got drunken noodles with tofu - it was not like other drunken noodle dishes I have had but still tasted good. We ordered both with medium spice - the eggplant was right around there but the drunken noodles were not spicy at all (though they were still good). Yes, the parking lot is small and you have to pay extra for the rice, but I still give Thai House a solid four.

As a former Fairbanks resident and Thai House regular I can testify that this restaurant served the best Thai food in Fairbanks. I've tried four other Thai restaurants in town and neither one surpassed the quality of food and service Thai House offered. I'm a heavy eater, and I've never received a portion too small here. I'll agree that they may not give enough steamed jasmine rice with an entree, but I've found that to be typical of Thai restaurants. No problem, just order extra. Their variation of Pad Thai is my favorite. They don't use the sweet, orange sauce that I find overpowering. They use large chunks of chicken, egg, and shrimp and garnish with sliced cucumber and lemon wedges. I also like their version of fried rice. Its stickiness is just right, and parts of the dish are lightly charred to bring out a unique flavor that would be difficult to replicate at home. It's evident the chef subjected this dish under flames and extreme heat. But the dish that got me coming back to this place over and over was the Basil Beef. Thin, tender slices of beef loaded with Thai basil wading in a sauce having the right balance of sweet and salty. The basil marries the flavor of the sauce and beef, and no other type of meat will do (they also offer the chicken and pork variety). Service has always been stellar but only because I developed a positive relationship with the staff. They seemed to have developed a positive relationship with the community, as I've seen them treat many others similarly.

Who would have thought this little city would have such a choice of Thai restaurants. This is the best. Great menu. The "drunken noodles" with chicken was excellent, also try the pad rarm (veggies with peanut sauce). If the mango and sticky rice is available and you don't order it, you have made a serious error. We live in LA area, with tons of thai places, and this restaurant would be one of the best there too.

I was visiting Fairbanks with my boyfriend and was looking for a good place to eat... and well there's a truck load of thai places here... which I find kind of strange and the previous one we tried on College didn't satisfy our palette. Well we called in one order of pad thai since we were out all day trudging in crazy windy, snowy weather and my bf went to go pick it up. Well, I'll just get straight to the point... It's windy/snowing and he is told not to come inside, but to pick up his food at the side door?! Yes, the restaurant is still open and he's forced to wait outside. So I'm going to give a big F U to Thai House and hope their doors freeze over.

Thai House Restaurant was decent. Have I had better? Sure. Have I had worse? Yes. For a mid-day lunch/dinner when you're in downtown Fairbanks give this place a try. It is run by an earnest husband and wife team, with punctual service, which was also cordial, but matter-of-fact. I should say the chef (the female) was very upbeat and smiley, so my critique is of the male partner, who served us. Anyway, good stuff, I left satisfied.

Very cheery and pleasant with excellent friendly service and good food. A nice yelp find while killing time having dinner before a late flight back to lower 48?!

I liked Thai house. It's not the best I've had, but I would be surprised if Thai food in Fairbanks could rival some of the best in the lower 48. I had the shrimp in peanut sauce over sauteed spinach. The shrimp were very well cooked and the sauce was tasty! The spinach was a bit watery and didn't seem to add much -- the requisite vegetable, maybe? I also started off with the springrolls (vegetarian). They were good, but I do like mine to be rolled tighter and smaller. The filling was a bit bland, but the dipping sauce was great. I think they were overpriced. $8.50 for veggie spring rolls is overpriced in my opinion. The entree was $13 or 14 and given that it was mostly shrimp, I thought that was appropriate. Good food, but not THAT remarkable. The dining room is clean and bright. I would easily go back if I was in Fairbanks again. Good service, too!

Four of us ate lunch here today. The place was packed at 1:00 pm and they were slow to take our order after providing water. Everything was good once the order was in. The yellow curry chicken, sweet pea beef, BBQ chicken and beef salad dishes arrived to the table in a timely fashion and all earned compliments. We requested "mild" spiciness and the dishes were just right. I would eat here again soon, but we're on vacation and moving on. Our server was very good and the decor is attractive. They earned our recommendation!

The Thai House has solid fresh Thai food with full bodied flavor, fast service (sometimes a little too fast) and a great downtown location. I had the Panang curry with chicken which was peanutty and sweet, the rice was perfectly cooked and the chicken was tender. The curry didn't offer much in the way of vegetables as I am used to but it was still very tasty. The Thai iced tea was sweet and creamy and I also tried the chicken satay which had nice spicy flavoring. I loved how Thai House offered a cucumber sauce/salad with their dishes, it was a refreshing addition to the satay and the currry. If you're in Fairbanks and want some really good Thai food check it out!

Warm, friendly atmosphere. Obviously a favorite with local families. Spring rolls (4) with spicy peanut sauce were superb. We were impressed with the quality of the Chicken on sticks (6) with hot peanut paste sauce, as well as, the Pad Tha with chicken and shrimp (5). All in all an excellent meal that was served up in a blink of an eye. Portions are moderate but so good- you likely won't be taking anything home.

The food I ordered was a spicy chicken dish and I asked for it as hot as I could get it. The chicken was so bland and tasteless that I just stopped eating it. The friend I went with seemed to enjoy her meal and even finished off mine. The restaurant had a great atmosphere and was very clean. Wait staff was attentive and helpful. I will try this place again to make sure I didn't have one bad experience. Might be worth exaggerating how hot you want a dish to make sure you get it how you want it.

Lunched here with a friend. I normally order a curry but with the holiday season upon the world (read: cookies! cake!), I've been ordering lighter items when dining out. I was definitely tempted by the green curry, but opted for my favorite "healthier" option: bbq beef. I've had the bbq at other Thai restaurants in town but hands-down, Thai House's version is great. The lunch portion arrives with the standard grilled marinated beef on white rice but it's the details that make all the difference. The bite-sized thinly sliced beef is perfectly sized and seasoned with a right amount of "char" marks-- a delicate balance ... too little makes me question the authenticity of "bbq" while too many makes me queasy thinking about excessive carcinogens. I usually avoid sweet sauces but decided to try this one...it was the perfect balance of sweet and tangy. I even poured it onto my rice. mmm... =) The service was fabulous and we had a great time!

I haven't had anything bad here, but I haven't had anything all that great, either. Something about some of the flavors here aren't always appealing. It's definitely decent enough to come to, but there are better Thai places in town.

Absolutely delicious. Started off with a Plah Goong appetizer; probably the best tasting Thai shrimp I've ever had. The main course was Pad Siam which was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of spices. I don't think they could have made this meal any better. The place was recommended to me by a girl on my flight to Fairbanks and then by two other people once I got here. They were spot on. The only drawback, no beer on draft. Will definately be going back.

Thai house... definatly the best Thai in Fairbanks... but what does that evebn MEAN!?!?! well, to me it means pretty darn good food. passable curries and pad (noddles) but lacking on some of the extras... like service. To be fair, there were only two girls in there the night we went...one was on vacation. BUT!!! i got my hat stolen. seriously. i left it there, came back the next day, and it was gone. my fault, to be sure. but i'm dockin' a star. deal!

Nice place. Good ambience. Friendly staff. It was decided on.. by our friends living in Alaska....:) Loved everything about this place.. clean, quiet and very lively. Food was excellent too...:) Only negative is they don't make fried rice with brown rice or give a side of brown rice. The curry was sooooooooo tasty n yummy. They have lots of vegetarian options too. We had a surprise cake cutting for my hubby there. Overall an awesome place.

Well, the good news is that their curries are made with homemade chicken broth. The bad news is that they use it even in their "vegetarian" dishes. I suppose with shrimp being listed as a vegetarian option, I shouldn't have been surprised. Fish sauce, I was prepared for. Bits of chicken, I was not. I had the yellow curry with tofu and it was just that. Big hunks of tofu, one small piece of potato, and a few onions on top for garnish. Oh, and the bits of chicken leftover from making the broth.

Okay, so you find yourself having the terrible misfortune of being in downtown Fairbanks. There may be no escape. Don't panic, you can leave your hotel and stlll find good food. Presuming you enjoy Thai food this is the place. Very good food with large portions (lunch tomorrow), acceptable service and atmosphere all at a great price (satay appetizer, 2 meals, 2 beers for $47- plus tip). For Fairbanks this place deserves 6 Stars!

I make it a rule to try Thai food restaurants whenever I can, and the Thai House is still the best Thai food I've ever had. It's run by a Thai family that obviously cares about their food and their business. The service is dependable and the food is great. Rice dishes, noodle dishes, soups, and appetizers are all top-notch. My favorite has always been the chicken with onions and baby corn. And get it nice and spicy.

If you're a fan of egg rolls-TRY THESE. They are the best egg rolls I've ever had in my life (not an exaggeration). The service is great and the food is always fresh and well worth the money!

A generally unfriendly hole in the wall of a place. I had found the place due to its good reviews on yelp but just timing it right with their hours was difficult. Don't trust any posted hours you find online because odds are they're wrong. Don't even bother going if you're outside the 1-2 hour window of standard lunch & dinner times. Food was average at best but the portions were tiny and the actual types of food are rather uninspired. The staff themselves were the biggest problem. They were outright rude when I called, completely indifferent to the fact they don't even post hours and yet close randomly, and even when they were serving us they didn't seem to concerned about making our experience a good one. If the service were better it would make up for the mediocre food but as it stands I'd insist in the future on going elsewhere.

First of all, good luck even trying to eat here. Odds are if you search for hours online they will be wrong. They don't have hours posted outside, either. The food was just okay. I had the drunken noodle which was all right, but my friend had the sweet & sour beef which was strange in that the sauce came served in a cup on the side and the beef was cooked in such a way that it was like beef jerky. We came during lunch so I'm not sure if dinner is the same, but the portion size was tiny. And it's not served family style like most Asian restaurants with a pot of rice either - everything on the menu was listed as being served "over rice." Our server said she could serve it differently for us so we could share easier but when our food came it was not. Service was lacking, water was refilled super slow even though there was hardly anyone there. I don't recommend going here.

For being in Fairbanks, AK this Thai place was a great find. A varied menu with decent service. I had a pork dish, my friend had a shrimp dish, both were served hot and were very fresh. I would recommend this place for sure. They need to tone down the lighting a bit and maybe spruce up a few things, but overall it was a good dining experience.

  • Michael E.

I would say that the food is above average. The service was a bit slow but since we are seeing this in most establishments in Fairbanks, it may be our lack of understanding of the area. Clean and organized, the portions were reasonable. Nice staff. I suggest going here but don't know enough to rate this as the best place which is why we decided to visit. Not overpriced, enjoy.

I went to the Thai house with a couple of my co-workers and biked to downtown to find it just okay. But it is like the only Asian place in town to eat pretty much. I ordered the Pad thai by the way and found it just okay. I had better back home in southern California, but in Alaska, it was just okay and not too bad at all.

Good, fresh Thai food. I had chicken curry- $9.00 and Thai iced coffee. The coffee needed stronger flavor, but it was good. I ordered the curry medium, and it was hot, which is actually my preference

The best Thai food this side of a hole-in-the-wall in Bangkok, trust me. We've eaten Thai all over SCal and this place in Fairbanks beats them all. Wish they would move to SCal. They have now moved down the street about a block from their old location.
