We wanted to try a different pizza place and heard a lot of good things about College Town Pizzeria. I'm pretty disappointed in it though! We went to just pick up to take home and had really bad customer service. Not very friendly at all. Once we got our pizzas, they forgot our breadsticks. When we finally got home, the food was just okay. Maybe we got them on a bad night, but for the price, I was expecting a lot more. The crust was gummy like, so not cooked properly. We will try again though, maybe just a fluke!

There are not a ton of options in Fairbanks as you might imagine, but College Town is making a pretty good pizza. We had a pizza with peperoni, sausage, onion and something else and it was very good. The sauce had a nice zesty flavor, good bite from the peperoni and the crust had a great texture. The only slight down side was the weirdo working the cash register. Not the friendliest, or perhaps his weirdness got in the way. Overall, good food.

Four stars and not five because... The pizza was great and they have gelato that is wonderful, BUT,,, They need to put some money back in to the place. The seats have holes in the vinyl big enough to loos a butt cheek in. They could at least use some duct tape!!! Or better yet, fix the seats right like a real pizza place would do. But in the end it is about the food and "Yay! I'm a fan" but I wouldn't bring my best girlfriend here,

Great pizza and one of the only places in town you can just sit down and order just a slice of pizza which makes it convenient when you're just stopping in for lunch and don't have a lot of time to wait. Also the staff is very nice and they have EXCELLENT gelato here too!

As far as our family is concerned College Town Pizza has the best pizza in town. We're from Philly so that's saying something. They consistently make good pizzas and are fast even when it's busy. Great crust and delicious toppings. We usually get pepperoni but we've also had their tomato basil pizza and it's so yummy! We've recently discovered their pizza rolls and they are really good too. Our only gripe with College Town is their hours - they have strange hours. They close at 9 pm (even over the weekends) and won't take orders past 8:30. So any late night (if you call 8:30 late) pizza needs is out of the question. But we go here about twice a month so obviously the hours aren't getting in our way.

We've been going to Collegetown Pizza for years now, and we're sad to report that their pizza quality has really suffered over the past year. I had the Dawg Combo and my partner had the Spicy Pepperoni. We both felt the pizza sauce reminded us of the nasty pizza sauce from elementary school pizza. The other ingredients were marginal. The other menu items that we've had, calzones and strombolis, have been fine but certainly not as good as they once were. The gelato they serve is fantastic and saves my rating from being even lower. We hope that the new management reads these reviews, and returns quality ingredients back to Collegetown.

I have eaten their pizza twice, the first time was awful, totally burnt, and flavorless. Second time was much better, we ordered garlic sticks and the hot dog pizza. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars is their miscommunication on their hours and what they do. I called on a Friday or Saturday which stated they were open till 10 and when I called to order they told me they close at 9 and not 10. The guy working their just rushed and got off the phone with me before I could say anything else-they were clearly ready to go home. On Tuesday when we ordered (since they say they don't deliver) we picked up our pizza and when I looked at their menu that they have in their restaurant-it says they deliver. Total miscommunication and false advertisement. I am completely capable of getting my pizza and driving it back home but when you say "we don't deliver" and I see jt on yelp that you do, and even in your restaurant while picking up my pizza- on your menus that you deliver, it's kind of misleading. Pizza is good, but double check when their hours are since they aren't current. My whole review is based off the advertising of this place.

Tasty but expensive. Got a gyro flatbread pizza. It was a bit too crunchy, and I expected a larger portion for $15

I love the jalapeño papa pizza, but every time I come here the wait is ridiculously long and there is subpar service.

As good as Costco pizza. If there is a Costco food court in Fairbanks I think I'll be there instead tho.

Just ok. Crust was doughy, thicker and softer than we prefer. But if that's your thing, go for it!

I wanted to come here because I was desperate to try reindeer sausage before I left. Expensive food is kind of unavoidable in Fairbanks. The small pizza (maybe 12''?) ran us about $16. We got the Finlander with reindeer sausage, bell peppers, and mushrooms. It was pretty good, but nothing really exciting. The pizza was super saucy, and there wasn't a lot of cheese, which is my kind of pizza. And by the way, reindeer sausage tastes kind of like regular sausage. They also sell gelato here.

Horrid experience. Was in a bit of a hurry and was going to get a single slice of pie but they never have my favored combo's on the single slice rack. So I decided to try a couple of items I haven't ordered before. I got the Pasta bake (on pasta with the Meatballs, Italian Sausage, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, and I had them hold the smoked mozzarella), which comes with breadsticks. They told me it would be 10-15 minutes. There were only two or three tables occupied. I ended up waiting nearly 40 minutes. If I knew I was going to have to wait that long, I would have ordered a pie. I suspect the cook flat out forgot about my order until reminded but the waitress tried to explain the pasta is not precooked. Great but most places do so to get out the orders quick. I wish he did have half cooked pasta ready to be finished off, would have been quick. What I got had undercooked dry penne pasta which soaked up all the liquid from the marinara sauce. The meatballs were cut up into small pieces. Some of the onions and mushrooms were raw and the whole thing was spiced so hot it lit my mouth afire. Even if I could eat this dried undercooked crap that I waited so long for, I could not have handled the heat of the spice. It was Spicy Thai hot... When I got my order, they did not include the breadsticks. They asked if I still wanted them and I told them I did, mostly because I needed something to cool my mouth from the pasta I sampled before I left with my order. I had to wait another 15 minutes for breadsticks that looked like a 2 year old made them. Skinny small with a fat end and all were sitting in a pool of melted butter. Fortunately there was a trash can nearby and I tossed the inedible wretched pasta bake and ate a couple breadsticks that weren't swimming in butter before throwing those away too. I had ordered the pasta with meatballs to try the meatballs mostly. Too bad they cut them up into small pieces in the pasta bake. Still needing food to eat, I ordered the meatball sliders. Described as 3 big meatball sliders turned out to be meatballs cut in half, one half per slider, and the meatballs, like as in the pasta - were cold. I waited an additional 20 minutes for those but ended up tossing them in the same trash as the pasta. I did enjoy a Silver Gulch Brewery Rootbeer while I was there for the hour waiting on my food to go. But the food was wretched. I've enjoyed the pizza but I will never order anything else there. In fact, that was so bad I think I'll just skip the place and never go back. There is much better pizza and pasta to be had elsewhere.

Best gelato I have ever had, hands down! Pizza is good too, but it is a little overpriced for the flavor. Selection though is amazing.

Pizza is mediocre at best. Restaurant is filthy. I had a lunch to cater for my business and they double-charged my credit card. Called and left messages for the manager to call me for a month. I finally just called my credit card company to take care of it. This place is so not worth the trouble.

I don't care what people say about the prices it's worth it, there's no other pizza place like this it's superb, the crust is perfect the ingredients are fresh it might be a bit small but it's all worth it. My dad always took me here when I grew up and he knows good pizza. I always love the classic pepperoni cause it's always good.

Hubby finally talked me into driving to get pizza from here, he's been talking about getting pizza from here since we moved here. He told me about all the great reviews he has read about BUT I most say it is not worth the price.... Way to much sauce!! My kids didn't even eat a whole slice :/ so we wasted $26 for a four cheese pizza for the kids, I did give two stars because the crust was the best thing.. I will not be getting pizza from here again, I am ok with paying $45 for two pizza IF it's good which this is not... We did also get a pepperoni and besides the crust wasn't anything I would go back for.. I will be sticking with my papa johns

Excellent pizza! I had the pesto chicken and the pesto had a great flavor and it had huge slices of fresh tomatoes on it. We also had the BBQ chicken pizza and the BBQ sauce was sweet with just a small kick of heat to it, it also had just the right amount of onions on it, not so much that that is all you taste. The crust is my favorite kind, not to thick and cooked till it's brown on the bottom. I will be back to try other pizzas on their menu!

Restaurant reminded me of pizza joints I used to frequent back home in Boston. It had a nice friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the chicken fajita pizza which was ok, I'll be ordering something more traditional next time. Calzones for $8 are a deal, I'll want to try those too. They only have 2 sizes of pizza: 12" for $16 or 16" for $24. And I can't wait to try the gelato. Will definitely be frequenting this place more often, I feel like it's got potential to be a hidden jewel. Update: got a large pepperoni pizza and it didn't disappoint. Almost tastes like Papa Gino's for those of you east-coasters who've eaten there.

Ok. I've been here a number of times now, so I feel I can adequately review. 1: This is probably your best option for pizza in Fairbanks. It's consistently good, and reasonably priced. The staff is mostly friendly, but occasionally make you feel like you're really inconveniencing them by being in their establishment. Decent beers on tap. 2: Now for the downsides: Not open sundays. Closes at 9pm, even on friday/saturday nights. They occasionally have slices, but I've never once been in there and seen either a plain cheese slice, or a plain pepperoni slice, the ultimate standards in slices. Overall, it's a decent spot, with tasty, consistent pizza. The reviews below that say it's a contender for best pizza ever? Not even close, but it's hard to find something better in Fairbanks.

People always talked this place up, for the most part like it was a 4.5 star place... I on the other hand never really understood that, maybe I just have a different taste in pizza. Its not like I didn't enjoy the place, its just that I wasn't wowed by it. It was good pizza at a good price. It wasn't great pizza at a good price, and it didn't have that special something extra that drew me back to the place, so it for me was a good place to eat pizza, and nothing more.

We grabbed a pizza from here on our previous trip to Fairbanks. Service was friendly and the price was fair. The pizza was pretty good...definitely not the best in the world, but very solid. It was enough to make me want to swing by and get another next time we are in town, and from talking to people in Fairbanks, it is generally thought of as the best pizza in town.

I don't see what all the hype is about. Pizza is mediocre at best. Service is quick and employees are friendly though.

Truly a great pizza. Service was outstanding. Don't even think about going anywhere else!

I'm a fan of college style pizza (a lot of toppings, greasy, good, and cheap). I was hoping this place would deliver, but it did not. The pizza is ok, but so is the pizza at Pizza Hut or Papa John's (and the pizza is much cheaper there). The staff is extremely nice and it is fun to eat there, but if you are expecting some tasty, but not good for your pizza, look elsewhere.

This place has some of the best pizza! I've lived in many parts of the country and by far this place wins best pizza. I've lived in New England and have had plenty of New York Style, New Haven style apizza, etc. These guys take that style of pizza to the next level. I believe I read the owner is originally from Jersey, he takes that style of pizza and definitely improves upon it. One of my favorite pizzas is the Jalapeno Papa!

    (5)
  • Lara J.

Just because there is New England sports team's paraphernalia on the walls does not mean it's New York style pizza. I know NY style pizza and this is NOT it. And WHERE are all the toppings??? I had my hopes dashed with this place. :(

This is a follow up to my first review. I went recently and ordered a different pizza, the chicken pesto. I learned that the restaurant has changed owners. I asked the counter person if the recipe was changing, and he said only minor modifications to the toppings, and specialty pizzas but not the dough. I have to say though that the finished crust was not as good as the first time. It was bit denser and drier than my first try, and still under cooked imho. It had been very busy that night, any number of things can happen to alter the consistency, I understand that.. The toppings were still very good, the pesto ok, but thin ( just a tad more pesto please), just right on cheese, big chunks of garlic and chicken, a few sporadic artichoke heart pieces. I would only hope that the new owner doesn't start to cut major corners and sacrifice what I thought was an excellent pizza to make ends meet, but I will continue to bee line it here upon every visit to Fairbanks.

It was good. I had the stromboli and liked it! The pizza by the slice is fresh and looks good. You can tell it has not been sitting for hours. Also you must try the Gelatto! It is really good.

They were fresh out of the oven, they were hot, they were good - completely unbiased review - even though I was starving and it was freezing outside ... kidding ... probably the best campus pizza I have had in a really long time - puts Blondie's and Val's to shame ... More flavors and the pizzas don't look like they've just been sitting out there for awhile. It hit the spot. Although my cabbie says I need to go to Lombardi's and Luna's and Giani's ,,,, and a long list of NY Pizza Places!

So my wife and three kids went to this pizzera after work. I was impressed with great pizza, had good toys for the kids. big seating (maybe to big) Our biggest complaint is how the drinks are served, the beer was nice and cold, though no cups for children. BUY A COKE MACHINE!!!!

Best Pizza in Fairbanks. Great lunch spot to grab pizza by the slice and a beer. Family run with friendly people behind the counter and a great ambiance. The BBQ Chicken, Chicken Fajita, and Finnlander (reindeer sausage) are my favorites.

The best pizza in Alaska and a heavy contender anywhere else. Fabulous crusts and fresh ingredients. Their new Philly Cheesesteak pizza is out of this world. They also have different gelato flavors every night.

The best pizza I've found in AK, great beer, excellent atmosphere, and the owners are so much fun to chat with! Oh, and amazing gelato!!!

I was very excited when I saw they had stromboli on the menu, but was disappointed by what I got. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't compare to the strombolis I get whenever I visit family on the main line. The bread sticks, however, were great and I really liked the marinara dipping sauce. I like their pizza crust, but I wish they had the more classic variety of Italian sausage instead of the sliced stuff they use. The best pizza I've had from there was a large with the olive oil, garlic, and herbs sauce, with mozzarella and bacon as toppings. It was light, flavorful, and let the crust shine through. There's absolutely no reason to get pizza from any chain in town if College Town is open.

I decent slice, and they actually sell by the slice. Probably the best pizza in Fairbanks (which isn't saying much).

    (3)
  • Julie P.

Hands down the best pizza in Fairbanks. I am a particular fan of their breadsticks. Get it to go, though, because the dining room is often crowded and a bit shabby.

Nice crust and a good white pizza. Menu seems a bit limited.

This place has the best pizza I've ever eaten. The menu is quite expansive with a variety of sauces and cheese. They even have cream cheese. You want reindeer sausage on your pizza? Go here.
