We keep going back. Usually get ceviche...ceviche is so perfect here! Got the "garlic & onion shrimp something mojo" tonight with corn tortillas, beans and rice. The bean rice as expected... same ol same ol... but the friggen shrimp were fabulous. Cooked shrimp perfect! Nice restaurants can rarely manage to do this!! Kudos. Finally had the coconut fan... and so yummy. I dont think i have ever had flan this fabulous.... it is more like a cake egg custard. Now I gotta go back to get my hubbie the chocolate flan... (sigh) Reminds us of Cancun. Thanks Xalos!!

I've been a big fan of this place but I'm not a big fan of salt. The last few times I've gone here the food has been way too salty. I find myself guzzling water by the gallon after consuming their food. And shouldn't they be wearing gloves while preparing the food? Well they don't and that kinda freaks me out. One girl had on one glove. What's with that? I don't think I'll be back. The food is tasty but the salt is a killer.

When in Anchorage for work, I usually stay downtown, but this week found myself farther out so had a rental car. I used the opportunity to try restaurants outside the downtown corridor. Xalos was a fantastic find! It's out by Bass Pro Shop, near Merrill Field, but worth the drive. As others note, you order at the bar and take a number to your table, but don't let that concern you. The Negro Medelo on tap makes up for it, as does the authentic food. I had the pork verde dinner - delicious. Salsas are homemade and there were several options, including a chipotle and a habanero. Staff was friendly and efficient. It was busy and a bit noisy, but hard to complain when the food is so good!

This place is amazing. There are tons of burrito, taco, and combo dinner options as well as a decent drink selection. They even have Mexican cola. They also have a fantastic salsa bar. The dining area is very spacious so you don't feel like you're rubbing chairs with another person. The staff was very friendly and the service was quick.

I have had a couple of less-than-great experiences with the staff, but Xalos gets my business purely because they make the best Mexican food in Anchorage. They are rarely busy, even around mealtimes, they make all their food fresh, and I love their homemade salsa bar!

I just ordered take out and ordered the Anaconda burrito. I didn't think it was going to be this big. Did I make a mistake? Or did I make the best choice of my entire week.

Pretty awesome Mexican food, awesome chips and a bunch of yummy salsas. Legit Mexican food, they have Jamaica and horchata.

I had a super flavorful chicken burrito. I would go back to have that taste in my mouth again! Pricey tho, but that's how it is in AK, right?!

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place, and he is very hard to please when it comes to Mexican food! Xalos is an interesting setup; you walk in to the front counter and order your food and drinks with a cashier, then, you go get your drinks and salsas from the salsa bar and they bring your food to the table. It's like a hybrid kind of service. We really enjoy it because it's super casual and you don't have waiters bugging you every 5 seconds. You can get refills when you need, more salsas, etc. Xalos' food is VERY fresh. All of the food items we have tried seem to be freshly prepared and include lots of fresh veggies. It's not heavy seeming like your traditional cheese doused Mexican restaurant fare. They have beer on tap; which we LOVE!!! Speaking of the salsa bar....it..is...AMAZING! Tons of freshly prepared salsa flavors and we've tried them ALL! It's such a fun part of the experience to go and choose all of your salsas to bring to your table. All in all, we love this place and it's worth the drive from South Anchorage all the way to Tikhatnu. We did see a new "Xalos Burrito Express" over in South Anchorage, not sure what this is but we sure are excited!

The steak burrito was really good. I paid $11.95 for a regular size steak burrito, chips, and a drink. The order process is a little different from Qdoba/chipotle. Your option is the size of the burrito, type of rice, and beans. I didn't see the regular burrito ingredients on display like queso, pico de gallo, chopped jalapeno, etc. However, the homemade (avocado, chipotle, habanero) salsa was delicious. The habanero was not that spicy, maybe it's to accommodate the average patron. My co-worker ordered nacho cheese served on a medium size flat pizza pan. It looked delicious I almost ordered one for myself but had to return to work and didn't want the -itis. I would recommend this place to family and friends.

Mmmmm! I had the quesadilla with shredded beef and my husband had the Mexican caesar salad. It was super tasty and it came out pretty fast. It's kind of like a 5 Guys for Mexican food. The decor is festive and well done. We will be back. The only thing I found disappointing is that they did not have chimichangas. We did not drink but I noticed they were fully licenced and some other patrons there has some delicious looking margarita type drinks on their table. Highly recommend.

I can't give this place enough praise! Their food and service are supburb! The only authentic Mexican food in anchorage. I will not go anywhere else when I am craving Mexican food!

Food is always on point. Tastes authentic. Staff is always friendly. If you haven't already make sure to ask for a California Burrito. Just tell them you want a burrito with: Carne Asada, chopped up French Fries, Cheese, Sour Cream, and Guacamole. It is on point and delicios. Only 12 bucks with extra Carne Asada. I will post a picture before I finish it next time.

O.M.G. The BEST Mexican food. Quesadilla had the BEST tortilla, shredded beef had amazing flavor and texture, and black beans were rockin'. LOVE the multiple choices in the condiment & salsa bar. I should have just had cheese in the green enchilada instead of the beef. It was good, but I was craving something cheesier. My Carne Asada was yummy and my husband loved his Chili Verde. Only wish they used more cilantro and had a better atmosphere. I would rather order off a menu from a table than the front cashier counter.

My wife and I tried this restaurant on the spur of the moment because we were in the area. It took a while to order because the menu is extensive. She settled on a quesadilla and I got a burrito. We also ordered a basket of chips, which turned out to be unnecessary. Both our meals were very large and pretty good. If we had to do it again (and we probably will), the quesadilla will be the choice and we'll split it. To echo some other comments, the service was slow, maybe even erratic. The quesadilla came first and my wife waited a few minutes to see if my burrito would come soon. Eventually she started and was almost halfway finished, with a little help, before my burrito came. For a storefront restaurant with concrete floors, the ambiance was okay. The large paintings depicting scenes from "Old Mexico" were not at all typical for a place like this. At least it made waiting more fun.

In Anchorage you won't find better, more authentic Mexican food. Finally, a Mexican owned restaurant in Anchorage that hasn't sold out! For some weird reason people have drawn parallels to places like Qdoba and Burrito/Taco King simply because you place your order at the counter and then it is delivered to your table. The similarities end there. Although I'm not crazy about the whole ordering at the counter aspect, its easy to overlook because Xalos food is high quality and delicious. 50 minutes before closing, we arrived to find the restaurant packed. We placed our order at the counter, and in less than 10 minutes our food arrived. In the interim we grabbed our beverages, utensils and perused the salsa bar. The salsa bar is AH-MAZING! Each item on the salsa bar is made in-house and utterly unique. I've noticed that here in Anchorage, all the salsas taste pretty much the same. But at Xalos the salsas are a symphony of color and flavor! There's a really interesting escabeche that's super spicy. My favorite was the green salsa (not tomatillo)... I've never had anything like it. It was soooo delicious whatever it was was. I think I'd like to take a bath in it though. No. That wouldn't work because then I would have to lick myself and that would be weird. Well, I'll figure out something. Another aspect I loved is Xalos has tons of visual interest inside and out. The colors, the art, the vibe are all very appealing. Diners inside may chose from standard seating or high tops. If the weather is nice, I recomment the lovely cafe tables on the patio surrounded by a sea of flowers. Obviously the food is right on. Tender delicious meats bedecked with lovely cilantro, onions, and tomatoes atop autentic corn tortillas. Oh yes. Nom nom nom. I was tempted to lick my plate. I hate guacamole (I know, I'm weird.) So I'll just lick around the weird green mush that everyone seems to love. I've also always kind of been ambivalent about refried beans, but I must admit they were quite tasty as well. Suprisingly, my favorite part of the meal besides the salsas was the rice, which was absolute perfection. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other items. Bonus... they have horchata, beer, sangria and an assortment of desserts. Go hungry, leave happy. Taste buds rejoice, you're in for a treat, this place is legit.

Nice you can sit outside on sunny days, really like the carne asada, especially in the super burrito. Really friendly staff and pitchers of beer are a great deal!

  • Rich T.

Wow we were completely surprised by the quality of food in this nouveau strip mall (across from the soon to be open Bass Pro). The Ceviche was terrific and the burrito was fine but the stand out was the freshness of the ingredients and the salsa bar. We also loved the staff. In having the ceviche, the very nice guy said, you have to have it with the special sauce and served up some extra tortilla chips and it was delicious.

  • Stephanie C.

Yum. With a capital Y! Always good food, served quickly. Place is clean and staff is friendly and professional. Will I come again? I have over and over. I think I'm addicted to the shrimp cocktail. (Once I figured out how to eat it! )

  • Rachel H.

As someone who craves Mexican food at least once a week, Xalos blew me away. We had the Chipotle Steak Burrito, Shrimp Street Tacos, and Loco Torta Sandwich. The prices seem a little steep at first for a countertop style place, but they are beyond fair when you see the portion and quality you're getting. The food is clearly very very fresh and truly authentic. The steak in my burrito was perfectly cooked and seasoned, the shrimp in the tacos was not frozen precooked, it was fresh, and the sauce on my dad's sandwich was amazing. The fresh salsa bar was on point. We tried 5 salsas and had to go back for more. Spicy actually meant spicy! And again - fresh. Especially when compared to long-time Mexican places in Anchorage like Gallos or La Cabana, this place blows it out of the water. We all left totally full and thrilled to say it lived up to expectations. Loved it!

Not even halfway through my food and couldn't wait to post a review. AWESOME food quality. Tables for up to four- only one that seats more than 4. Kinda small giving it a fast food feel, staff are kinda serious not overly friendly but good service and food is excellent.

  • Ann A.

I was expecting Xalos to be more like a bar. It's really a cafeteria style restaurant which offers beer. I had the regular quesadilla (best I've ever had and way better than what I make at home) and my husband had the carne asada dinner. My hubby is very picky. He really, really liked his meal! It's a little loud, but cute decor. The staff was nice.

Keeping this short: Great food Peaceful atmosphere A little pricey but made up for by deliciousness of food. Definitely will come back and highly recommend.

While deciding to write something for this review I find it hard to give it anything but 5 stars. To some folks that sould mean that it was perfect, I will say it was not, then what is? I will say that 5 stars means we make an exception to come here when we're in town. I'll start by saying that the food is as authentic as one can get this side of the border. Sure others do this as well my point is this, when I ask my wife if she wants Mexican food for dinner I don't mean hashbrown stuffed with egg and liquid cheese in a tortilla con some kind of funky thinking like as if its Mexican. I'm talking slow cooked shredded beef in a red sauce serve on a plate, fresh guacamole sauce, beans & rice. I have a complaint but I can't rate it as good or bad. The desert, they're always out of what I want. I can never have the flan because it is always sold out, I'm assuming because it's so damn good. And the staff are so friendly and accommodating. The portions are well sized and worthy of the price paid. What I can say with confidence, this is good stuff, all around & I believe if you stop in you will not be disappointed.

  • Nicole G.

Well to start off Taco King is still the ruler of Mexican in Alaska. I read all these reviews before going here and was excited, till I got my food. To start the "amazing" salsa bar that everyone has commented on was crap! Everything was as thin as water! The sour cream was so watery! Gross! I got the wrong thing on my food. I ordered chicken on my nachos and got beef. So I had to wait for that to be fixed. Then got it back the nachos are one layer of chips. The chicken was way over cooked and barley any on there. The pico on it was so chucky I had a crap ton of huge chunks of onion which is fine if that's what you like. This isn't authentic Mexican food. Its exactly like qdoba, seriously nothing special. Won't be coming back, I'll be going back to my try and true, Taco King.

Rockin good food, quick, made to order, friendly, Southern exposure for the sun in the winter, and healthy.

    (4)
  • Sara T.

Would give it five stars except that the food could have used a little more seasoning and the dining room itself is a little uncomfortable. The staff was very pleasant and kind, I wouldn't recommend it for large groups.

  • Jack S.

Too expensive Food was decent. Food came slow. Nothing to write home about that is for sure. If I was in the area and had a real craving I may go back. Otherwise. Nah

    (1)
  • Krystin C.

Not really sure what they were going for here. From the outside I thought we were going to a sit down restaurant, but upon walking inside it was apparent it was something else. Not sure what....kind of like a Qudoba, but more expensive and not as good. The flank steak in my meal was like jerky....no idea how I was suppose to eat it in a tortilla. But at least there was $15 worth of it there....tough as it was. I'm giving them 2 stars because their protions were good. If the quality of food had been better I could have given them 4.

  • Melissa U.

Not what I expected but everything I wanted! The tacos placero and queso burrito were delish! I was skeptical about coming here but after time spent at BB&B I was starving and had to give it a go. I was not disappointed. My taco didn't make it out of the parking lot and the burrito was demolished at home. The Mango cake is sooo good too. I got a sampling of my friends shrimp cocktail and it too was yummy. Some of the most traditional food I've had here in AK.

  • Tim C.

I would have never come here if it wasn't for bass pro. But I am glad I did. The burrito I has was amazing and the selection of salsa was great. If I would have known I would have come here long time ago

    (5)
  • Andrew R.

Split a burrito with my lady. It was yummy. Staff was nice and the place was clean. A little pricey but on par with Anchorage. Good salsa selection and quality. I would eat here again.

  • Daniel B.

Very tasty food... Restaurant laid out like Q'doba, but the food was way better! Had a Fajita Burrito Deluxe! Yummy!!!

    (5)
  • DJ J.

The carnitas were fantastic. Great food, friendly staff. When I first walked in, I was worried that it was going to be just another Chipotle/Qdoba because we had to order at the counter. But it is definitely not just cookie cutter fast food. Authentic and delicious.

    (5)
  • Judy K.

We could have gone to Qudoba for the same atmosphere and food style, but paid half the price for fresher food. The guacamole was a huge disappointment: runny like it came from a large can - too heavy on the lemon. We had a super burrito and split, which was plenty for two. The overall experience was a rating of one star, in terms of food taste and quality. We gave it an extra star because they had cold beer glasses (in the fridge) and Negro Modelo on tap. Plus the staff was very friendly and nice. Not going back.

    (2)
  • Brittany B.

Didn't like that you couldn't sit down and order, but good food. Always busy. I had the Xalo's taco, yum!

    (4)
  • Rebecca G.

Delicious fresh favors. Shrimp is lovely in tacos or shrimp cocktail. I love the large selection of salsas. A little over-priced for a walk up counter but everything I've had there has been really tasty.

  • David F.

There are no words to describe how awesome this place is. The option item for my first pick was to die for. Jesus Christ it was so damn good!

    (5)
  • Ashleigh G.

Pretty good! Basically just like Chipotle... The service was alright and it seemed like they had a lot of new training employees that didn't quite know what they were doing yet. The decor was really awesome, but the food was just average. I had the Chipotle chicken burrito, but I probably would try something else if I went back again...wasn't the greatest. The salsa bar is a good idea, but none of the salsas they had were super great.

Food was fresh, the rice was authentic, the customer service was fantastic. The resturant was very clean and we didnt wait long for our food

Excellent food and service in a clean, bright atmosphere. (This is also one of the few spots in Anchorage where you can sit outside with a good view, a good beer, and next to no traffic noise since it's down in the Glenn Square shopping area.) The owners took time to personally check in with diners to see if their food was good, which I always like to see in a local place. Each dish we had (super tacos, carne asada, carnitas) was mouthwatering. I've had as good in Mexico, but not better. We'll definitely be coming back!

  • Ron D.

"My last night in Anchorage and I had a need for a good burrito. Spotted the 4 1/2 stars for Xalos and decided to give it shot. I selected the veggie burrito and and a Pacifico on draft. The burrito was the best especially tasty when I covered it with the habanero sauce. The restaurant is brand new and the walls are decorated with colorful canvas painting that give the place a festive atmosphere.

Best Mexican food in anchorage ! The street tacos are flavorful and fresh, the super nachos are enough to share and the torta loca is loaded with flavor !

Nice, clean, and humble Mexican restaurant. The self serve salsa bar houses at least six different homemade salsas; all great tasting. :) must visit.

My favorite Mexican place. Great atmosphere, amazing food.

    (5)
  • J F.

Just okay. The shrimp and carnitas were cooked nicely but were overly salty and lacked any flavor besides that. Ordered a kids nacho expecting just chips with cheese with rice and beans, but was asked which meat we wanted so picked chicken. We got them and it was a huge plate that doesn't come with rice and beans (which wasn't mentioned to us or on the menu). The chicken on the nachos was grilled and didn't appeal to our kid at all, so paid 8$ for a soda for dad (we don 't let son drink soda yet and that was only option without paying more). Space is okay, very loud in there. Probably won't be back, certainly not as good as Serranos, and I prefer Taco King to here as well. Salsa bar wasn't clear on spice levels and most of the salsas tasted the exact same.

  • Erin B.

Gave Xalos 3 tries. They struck out. I was really rooting for it to get better since it is near work & nice inside. On my most recent trip I waited for at least 25 minutes for 2 to-go orders which did not include the sides I paid for. One of the orders was completely wrong. Overpriced for lunch, sloppy overcooked bad food. Final straw was finding a quarter sized piece of bone or plastic in my taco.

    (2)
  • Dennis F.

The street tacos turned out good! I'll be back to try again. Price was a bit much 4 tacos n a drink $17. Good food, clean place and friendly people!

    (5)
  • Tabatha S.

Friendly staff and decent food for price. Salsa bar was good, wish there were a few more mild options for those of us with wimpy stomachs!! Plan to go back to try other choices. My friend had the carna asada and said "it's really really good".

    (4)
  • C. R.

Loved it! Very flavorful and generous portions. We were still full come bedtime. Saw lots of take out too. We plan to do that for our trip to the valley. Had to get the hang of the counter order and self serve salsa bar (lots of choices!) but loved hanging out there. we can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Mario B.

amazing food! always thought anchorage needed better and more choices in the "south of the border " venues very nice atmosphere and excellent service; acapulco botana seafood salad was superb as were the halibut and shrimp tacos, menudo was1st rate (my wife and i know, lived in albuquerque 10+ yrs) will be back often, can't wait for some pacifico and negra modelo on draft!

    (5)
  • Noel L.

Recently I went here on the advice of a friend, and I was so happy I did! I had the halibut taco, which had red cabbage instead of the usual cabbage, and the fish was so tender, and the spices were just right. Before my meal, however, I was treated to the salsa bar -- there was an array of salsas from mild to very spicy which you could take to your table. The owner asked if I liked ceviche, and I stated that I would like to try the ceviche next time. He surprised me by bringing out a sample of their Xalo's ceviche which crab and octopus, and it was simply amazing. The flavors were bright, and the seafood were tender and delicious. I can't wait to return here and try more of the menu!

  • Laura F.

Best Mexican in Anchorage by far. My only complaint is that it's not a sit-down place with wait service. I'd love to be able to come for a good meal and take out-of-town guests. My husband loved the torta and it was enough food for at least 2 tortas. Teh street tacos were delicious and the salsa bar varied and generous. We are used to great Mexican food from living in CA before this and this is definitely the most authentic Mexican we've found in Anchorage. Frankly, it's one of the best restaurants we've eaten at in Anchorage -- there is a lot of underwhelming food here. We will be back -- I just would love them to open a place on the south side of town!

  • Nick L.

I just stopped in there today after a solid recommendation from a reliable source. I decided to spring for the $18 dollar anaconda burrito just because I was curious about it. I'm a pretty small person and don't really fit the profile of a "big eater", so when I placed my order the lady behind the counter gave me a funny look and informed me that the burrito I was attempting to order was gigantic. "Then I'll take it to go", was my response. Less than ten minutes later they hand me this thing that was the size of my entire forearm, and with substantially more circumference. I've never seen a bigger burrito in person before, or anything even remotely close. Needless to say I am super impressed with this place and plan to frequent them as often as I can.

  • Robert M.

Love this place. There are few good restaurants in this part of town, and this place was a wonderful find. Great decor, clean, excellent food. Only complaint is that the portions are ridiculously huge.

    (5)
  • Melissa M.

Decor is beautiful. Very clean & friendly. Menu is diverse. Street tacos with corn tortillas! Somebody knows what their doing! Very impressed! Best I've had since moving from San Diego!

  • Lillian P.

Possibly the worse Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at. The salsas had next to zero flavor. The prices were expensive for a self serve restaurant. My husband asked for no sour cream. He got sour cream anyways. You had to pay a $1.00 for chips. The silver wear was dirty. The girl brought me my dinner and told me it was beef, I ordered carnitas pulled pork. The pork had a terrible flavor. The guacamole on our plates was turning brown. The sour cream on our plates was heavily watered down. The Mexican rice also had no flavor. Needless to say I wouldn't me going back. They were friendly tho and the colors on the walls made it look really nice inside.

Had the Super Taco- YUMMERS! And just enough to leave room for the COCO FLAN. O M G-- don't skip this absolute delight!!! My friend had the carne asada and it cut with a fork- DElish. Have been open just barely a month. Large open restaurant with bright canvas prints on the walls. Staff helpful, patient and fast service. So... Didn't lick the plate only because my friend would have been horrified. :D

A new spot worth trying. I am originally from Los Angeles and have a certain affinity for Carnitas. I try them at every Mexican restaurant I go to. most places they are overcooked, tough and dry. Not the case at Xalos! They were juicy, succulent, and just the right shade of brown. The refried beans are ok, not the best in town and I will try the other bean options next visit. The Chili Verde was good, not spectacular, the tamales are amazing and the ceviche tostado is the best I have had in Anchorage. The Horchata was rich, sweet and just the ticket. At other places it is a bit watery. My daughter had a Quesadilla with ground beef. The ground beef was not as flavorful as other places, however it was large and filling. As mentioned by another reviewer the salsa bar is great, some awesomely hot options are available for serious chili heads. The pickled vegetables in escabeche are awesome. Given the small size of Anchorage I would recommend trying Xalos, even if you live "way across town".

They give you soo much food for what you pay for. I like it. A little on the expensive side but if you like authentic Mexican food and atmosphere I say go for it.

    (3)
  • Rose K.

Promising decor, high prices for Mexican, great salsa bar- our food took an hour to come- meanwhile we saw several take out orders go out. When the food finally came it was not worth the wait- disappointing when you are that hungry!

  • Ronnie H.

My daughter and I had lunch here. I had a piping hot bowl of menudo and my love had cheese enchiladas with rice, beans and a salad. My menudo was delicious!!! It was filled with tripe and the broth was flavored beautifully. I have had menudo with hominy and without, and this place serves it without, which is my preference. I enjoyed it so much I thought of getting an order to go! (Greedy, I know...) My daughter said her enchiladas were delicious but the beans and rice could have used a little more pizzaz. They also have a nice salsa bar with at least 6 different salsas. (She could have used this to spice up her rice and beans but she prefers them without.) I will definitely return soon, as I watched someone order a Mexican chicken caesar, and it looked amazingly good, and I have to try it, with another bowl of menudo of course! ;-) Come check this place out! It is new and worth trying!

Wow! Amazingly flavorful and fresh. This is the best tasting Mexican food I have ever had, including the half dozen towns I've been to in Mexico and the dozens of Mexican food places I've been to in Southern California. So far I've tried a burrito, tacos and tostadas (shredded beef, chunk chicken, halibut, and shrimp/octopus). Meats are tender, moist, and perfectly cooked. Portions and prices are perfect. Vegetables are fresh as can be. I love the salsa bar, which includes 8 salsas, jalapeños, and sour cream (no paying $2-3 for a side of sour cream here like at other Mexican places in town!). With food this good, I personally dot care about decor -- but this place wins that area, too. Brightly colored, fun traditional plates, exquisite paintings of Mexican imagery... It's beautiful. The staff is friendly too. This is my new favorite Mexican place! (Also, it was so good, I've been here twice in the two days since I first tried it!)

  • Karo M.

Super slow service, tables left dirty around us and not bussed, floor dirty. Waited over 40 minutes for food and the place was not full at 2:30 in the afternoon on Nov 30. However, when finally received food, it was good. The wait was disappointing and will probably not go back.

    (2)
  • Holly K.

Super clean, bright, muy simpatico staff. The food was amazing. You can tell that the ingredients are very fresh with a beautiful blending of flavored. This is our new favorite Mexican place!!

Excellent ceviche tostada and a very good burrito. Lots of salsa options but most were not very flavorful. Great avocado salsa.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
