Very good food, beef enchiladas are very good. Beans need a little work. Great location. After third visit in two weeks have to reduce to two stars. Food is still good but the service is very poor. Charged incorrectly last visit by a large margin and currently walking away from this visit with no food...placed a pick up order would have thought it would have been ready by the time I arrived but my to go ticket was no where to be found. If you can catch them when business is slow should still be a good place.

Taco King is the answer to my freshly made taco prayers. It's all so fresh and delicious! I wish their salsa bar was a bit bigger.

In addition to the deliciousness that one has come to expect from Taco King, the decor in this new location is straight up awesome. Brightly colored tile and chairs carved and painted with scenes from south of the border. Love it! Not to mention the fact that this place is nearly as fast as any fast food restaurant, but much tastier and probably not full of laboratory engineered ingredients. And, of course, there is the sauce bar--a lovely selection of salsa in a variety of heats.

I live in Texas now, and I have to say, this little place ranks up their with the local places back home. Right next to hotel, so even better. Fresh salsas and food. The flan was yummy!

Great, authentic Mexican food. I normally avoid Mexican in the US because it is nothing like the real thing. This place has REAL Mexican food. It is owned by the same family as the other Taco Kings in Anchorage. Everyone at the restaraunt speaks Spanish, and the food is GREAT. Real. Authentic. Mexican. In Anchorage! The decor is pretty cheesy, but the food is fantastic. A perfect lunch stop.

I always pick Taco King for my go-to fiesta craving. The chicken special taco are my favorite with plenty of pico. The staff is always friendly with great service. I have tried pretty much everything on their menu and enjoyed it all. A complimentary basket of chips would be great but this doesn't stop[ me from visiting at least twice a week.

Timing issue with the fried ice cream for my friend. I love their tortas. Would eat there again for sure.

This place had delicious chicken "street" tacos. It was affordable and good at the same time. Everything on my plate was good! I would come back!

It's hard to believe that you can get good tasting Mexican food so far from Mexico an it's coming from a fast food restaurant! The food here is fresh and very good not to mention that you can get a good sized plate for under $10. The decor and atmosphere is very fun with a distinct local Mexican vibe. My only criticism is that some of the seats could use repair and that they should provide a bigger container for salsa when you order chips. If your in the mood for Mexican food this is the only place I would go.

Worst of all Taco King locations. Quality of food and service. If you're a true Taco King customer you would know this statement to be true. You are forewarned!

This brand has done a very good job in a niche market like this. Their only real competition is Taco Bell, and that's not much. I really like this concept. Mexican "fast food" that doesn't taste "fast". I usually get the Carne Asada combo. Rice, beans, and lots of seasoned steak. At $9.75, a good bargain. The condiment bar is awesome, with lots of salsas, pico de gallo, and sour cream. As much as you want. Since there aren't any fresh jalapeños, I go for the "hot" salsa, and it is very good. Fast friendly service, good food, and good prices. A trifecta in my book!

Nothing special but they did make sure you don't go home hungry as the portions are very large. The food was good but not outstanding. I would go here again if staying in the hotel next door but probubly not make a special trip here.

As I drove up to taco king I was struck with the fear that the building reminded me of a Typical fast food restaurant. However once into the building the aromas of the food and the Decor told me I was in for something much better. I ordered the special tacos because I love corn tortillas. I made it a combo with beans and rice. The service was quick the food was delicious. The food was good tasting with fresh salsa and cilantro. Overall very impressed and would recommend it to someone else coming to town. The only reason it is not five stars is I wish I got more meat on the tacos for the price.

  • Dan H.

For a "fast food" Mexican place this was great. I ordered the nachos which aren't hard to mess up. They were great. The person I went with couldn't eat his taco so I had it. It has a generous amount of chicken and was a very good authentic taco. They have a bad with salsa, jalapenos, and even sour cream. Great place for a quick bite to eat!

  • Elizabeth B.

Great Mexican food at an even better price. Plus they have horchata as a drink option (try it if you have never had it)! Love the back ground music if your eating in... Sometimes the cook will even break out into song! Love it!

Dinner at Taco King is almost like being at home, only better! I enjoyed my halibut tacos with their spicy salsas. Yum! The tomatoes and cabbage made it taste fresh. The room is cheerful and clean. An experience we will repeat!

  • Gnome E.

Really delicious pollo plate! Thought it was a great value as well (under $10). Also has a salsa bar but didn't need it. I didn't try the "veggie burrito" but it was definitely lacking in veggies (hence the 4 out of 5 stars). Put a decent veggie burrito option on the menu and this place would be a perfect fast food mexi place! Bonus, I think they deliver!

  • AG S.

Best Mexican food in AK. Always accommodating my weird requests. Like when I ask them to add carne asada to my veggie burrito. I just love ALL the veggies in my burrito plus meat.

  • Lynn D.

One of my favorite Mexican places. The company is local, the people are local and the food is yummy. Stop here often for takeout on my way home.

Customer service was nice but what I ordered is not what I got, I wanted rice but instead I got a whole lot of beans, and the Tacos we're sitting in the meat greace

I am very disappointed with the service here. I called in the other day for pick up, and I could barely understand the man on the phone talking. He was being super rude because I couldn't understand him. The worst part of this, is when I went to pick up my food the same man that I talked to on the phone went to check out my order(still being very rude to me).He said it was $15.90 and that was the correct amount, so I signed my receipt and crossed off where it said tip. I would have gave a tip if I got nice customer service but I was just very upset with his attitude towards me. As I handed him my signed receipt, he gave me a really dirty look almost looked like he was disgusted with me. I smiled and said thank you and left. Later that day, I checked my account and it said I was charged $17.90 from taco king. You don't want to know how mad I was with him adding a tip, that he did not receive or deserved. I have worked for tips and I understand, but I would never modify someone's receipt. Just be careful, and make sure you keep your receipt and keep track of your bank account. Never going to this taco king, very disappointed. (Note, I do love their food, but the customer service and honesty needs to be worked on)

I've always been a fan of Taco King, and this was my first visit to this location. I'm a bit of a food snob, and just remember Taco King tasting a lot better than it did. I had the Queen Tostada and felt like the shell was a bit too greasy for my taste. Overall, it was an okay meal, but next time I go, I'll probably go back to ordering the tacos or burritos.

So happy to see this place open on Spenard!! Have to admit though, never actually sat down, only been in for take-out many times....Doesn't disappoint!! Especially for the wicked hangover!!

  • Suzi P.

We've been patiently waiting for the new Taco King to open in Spenard and it has finally arrived! YES! And our favorite guys are here too! Quyana Arturo (sp?) you and Jose rock! We love the food and my husband is addicted to the nachos which are basic yet delicioso! We usually get the deluxe burrito and kids get chicken quesadillas, tacos (all are great), small burritos. Haven't yet come across something we didn't like. Nephew and sister like the menudo. There is even a drive through in this one! We have five kids and none of them go away hungry. Yay! Something for everyone! Great food fast! Enjoy!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
