Love this place! This is my favorite location - they're fast, friendly, and the food tastes great. I also love the salsa cart. The only downside would be their delivery, the food just isn't as good. The prices have also increased.

I wish I had spent my money somewhere else. Typical Taco King but his time the tortillas were way over headed (or reheated?) they were too tough and chewy. Oily meat and rice. Overall pretty unappetizing.

Ordered delivery tonight. They said it would take 45 minutes, nearly 2 hours later our food showed up. We were excited to eat, we ordered the deluxe burrito and the enchilada meal and both were tastless. No flavor at all. Then my wife went in for her second bite of enchilada and felt a crunch that almost broke her tooth. There was an end of a chicken bone in her enchilada. Needless to say we will not be ordering from here again, poor food, and definitely not worth the money they charge.

Okay I'll kick it up a star. I've come here a few times, but had a bad experience with the delivery option so I griped. I don't come here all that often, maybe twice a year, maybe. I just don't frequent Taco King very often. The place is run by mexicans, has a decent salsa bar, and deliver the food to your table; that's really great, especially for the price of the food. I usually get the veggie burrito with rice and beans. I will say this is my favorite Taco King as it has the nicest interior; lots of bright wall paint and wall ornaments. I will say my greatest pet peeve is that this place can get busy, but the tip jar seldomly has any dollars in it. Just because the food is cheap doesn't mean you have to be. Throw a dollar or two in next time and you might just hear the register guy softly say, "Gracias senora." It may just make your day as it did mine.

Fast, Accurate, Great tasting, orally complicated food They deliver, my usual method of acquiring their food. Four star food for a two star price I've NEVER been disappointed with their food. I've eaten there perhaps 50+ times there. what does that say!

Taco King is the spot to stuff your face when you're hungover. The food is pretty dank, the best Tex Mex I've had in ages. They have a legit salsa bar, I highly recommend Pedro's hot salsa, very flavorful, not just hot. Pedro also delivers. There's a half dozen locations or so around Anchorage and maybe Fairbanks. The real travesty is TK isn't open late night for drunk munchies.

I've never had a bad meal at Taco King, & I have been going there for at least 10 years. Last night I had their Halibut Tacos and they were great. My wife always has the special tacos (carne asada). Last night I ended up with one of them. Once again they were great. The only thing that we were a little disappointed with was the flan....It didn't have a lot of the carmelized syrup, and therefore seemed just a little dry. Still it tasted great, and this was the first time I've had a less than perfect flan from Taco King. One other thing, the service is always so fast it's almost unbelievable. On top of that the cost is very reasonable. We both ate for less than $20 including the flan. I just wish they had fajitas.....

Well, to start off I was pretty excited about this place based on the reviews and the contant radio advertisments I've heard even since I landed in Anchorage. The first thing I noticed was how expensive this place was compared to similiar places I've been to in my travels, but I thouhg ' What evs, it's Anchorage'. I got back to my hotel with my take out and discovered the Speical tacos with chicken, very bland and needing lots of salsaa and crema for any flavor. Not to mention that you only get 2 tacos for 7$. Then I opened the torta de adobada and found a few small pieces of meat amongst a mound of lettuce, tomatos, and avocados on what looked to be a French Bagguette. The taste was a little better than the tacos, but again I was highly unimpressed and would not recommend this place. On a positve note, the service was friendly and fast!

Used to go here all the time but I got food poisoning about 6 months ago. I've seen raw ground beef just laying on the counter so I only have myself to blame but I haven't been back since and don't plan on it. Beware!

  • Adam H.

This is my favorite Taco King. I love everything. I wish their prices would stop increasing every other day. It seems every time I go in their they've increased by 5%. But so so good. Like, SoCal good.

Heard the radio ads but had never eaten here, so a buddy took me in for lunch one day. Place was busy, but the line moved quickly and the food was ready

Taco King does deliver when come to authentic Mexican food. This place is hopping at lunch time so get here early. Nice dining room and open kitchen with beautiful Mexican tiles which add to the experience. I have had the deluxe burrito last time and it was great and huge. This time the Lengua plate with corn tortillas. Talk about kick ass. Reminds me of the street carts in Puerto Vallarta. The service is lighting fast and they bring the food to your table after ordering. Don't forget the extras cart!!! Best Mexican in anchorage thus far!!!

Freaking love Taco King, always get the special... always leave happy.

The food was delicious! Fast & friendly service. Will be ordering from them again soon!

I was just in purchasing a burrito dinner that cost me $9.75. The counter person took my $20 and gave me a $10 bill and a quarter back. I suggest you get in the habit of giving small bills so that the customer can tip appropriately if they so desire. So I gave the $10 bill back to the young man and asked for a $5 and 5 $1's. This happens on a regular basis and I can't help but wonder about all the tip $ you are missing out on.

  • Dorothy M.

Had the Lengua (beef tongue) for lunch. The tongue was tender and good. Service is quick, seating is plenty.

    (4)
  • Joanna E.

While the service was fast and the prices not bad, my tostada deluxe was not even hot. I'd call it mostly warm. The meat didn't taste seasoned (beef) so it was all a little bland, even with the salsa and sour cream. The tostada was also swimming in liquid that looked like water in the to-go container it was in, so the shell was tough and moist, not crisp. it still tasted ok, and I ate most of it, but won't be buying it again. Probably won't go to Taco King again.

Just a week ago, I left the great south west... imagine my surprise when I see not just 1 or 2, but a multitude of mexican places in just a short drive from my apartment. The first I've stopped at was Taco King (I don't remember the #3, but its the right address), with a friend for lunch before work. Luckily, we got there minutes before the lunch rush, because by the time we got out food, there was about 10 people in line at the counter. We both did the two taco meals with a lengua and an asada taco. We also did the B dessert (buenosomething?) Which was fried with honey and cinimmon (sp?) Topping them. Everthing was really good, and the food was brought out pretty quickly. While it may not be as good as some of the places in AZ... it was a good first stop. I will be coming back here.

  • Tom O.

I love this place. The carne asada tacos are outstanding. I could eat them every day.

    (5)
  • Tris W.

Went there this past Monday while taking a long lunch break to go to see my doctor at Providence. Yes Ive been here going on 7 years & this was my first time eating here :P Guilty. Can't believe I took so long to finally try it. I had their Carne Asada burrito & it was DELICIOUS! The man who took my order was very friendly & knowledgeable about their menu & my wait wasnt too long. It was very fresh tasting & their salsa bar was amazing. I can't wait to go back. YUM!

  • Em N.

I'm a fan of the pozole. It's a winner. The flan was so so.

  • Brandon M.

I hope that I am not posting a negative post twice. If so the first was from my phone and I don't know for sure if it went through or not. If it did, well then this is just a repeat. I am completely unsatisfied with this place after my delivery order. I ordered a Tostada for my son and received a loaded chicken nachos instead. He is 4 and sour cream and guacamole aren't at the top of his list. My King burrito wasn't the worst thing. I did however order 2 extra chips and salsa. Are you kidding me. The chips were disgusting. I literally can't believe that they would deliver those. When you order from a Mexican restaurant and can't even receive chips that are store quality there is a serious problem!!! This wasn't my first bad experience with ordering food there. I simply wasn't on yelp the first time and also dismissed it as a possible "bad day". 2 for 2. Hands down wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. Hot Fresh Authentic Mexican Food won't be found there!

    (1)
  • Wolf X.

Cheap and lots of it. But this place only gets 3 stars because the food was decent and nothing special. The chicken was unflavorful. Overall, good if you want to fill up on average food that won't hurt your wallet.

    (3)
  • Jeremy V.

Just as great as the other Taco Kings in Anchorage only on the East Side. Excellent burritos, tacos and enchiladas in a style that is as close to real Mexican food as you will find in Anchorage!

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque.
