Solid choice-off the beaten path! No waiting-but limited seating- patio looks great for nice weather. Service was prompt for the 4 of us and the waitress was very accomodating. Portions were good size but that seems true for most of the restaurants in ALASKA. My picks- the SEAFOOD CHOWDER (favorite not too be missed!)- not too thick and very flavorful! The Chicken caeser salad was heavy on the dressing... so I would NOT order that again. The Halibut was good and not too dry- the vegetables were seasoned well but a bit over cooked and sloppy. Would prefer my vegetables to not be overcooked or they are left limp. Mix of salads, seafood, and comfort food. Looked like a good selection of beers and I could have had one since I was walking but ... did not.

A little off the beaten path, so don't fret that it is a lot less busy than some of the places on the main drag. Prices are fair and they have a nice selection of Alaskan fresh fish and some other less delicious stuff for the picky eaters. Salmon chowder is excellent if they happen to have it when you go. Beer selection is very good. Halibut tacos were the only letdown at the table. King crab special was really well priced and delicious. Sit on the patio if the weather permits.

Since we were staying at the Ramada Inn next door, it was appropriate to eat there. We started out our meal with a cup of salmon chowder which was delicious. My wife had the salmon dinner and I had the beer battered halibut dinner, both of which were great. Service was very good.

Nice deck but that's about all. I want to like this place more but service can be slow and food is mediocre.

I do not recommend this restaurant. The halibut sandwich was worse than a fast food joint, and the staff was slow and rude. The worst part was that it wasn't even cheap. After two of us got a drink and a sandwich the bill was $50. Save your time and money by going to Humpys, Sherries, or the White Spot.

Good food, great vegetables, good salmon. Server was new, and preferred chatting to working. Luckily, the bartender was right on it and very good. Relative to other places in Anchorage, a find.

Still on vacation in Anchorage and thought we'd try the slippery salmon. The first thing I noticed was a great selection of local beers. There also seemed to be quite a few locals in the bar. We ordered food and went out on the patio. I ordered halibut fish and chips and my girlfriend had hummus and grilled vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place, go there, maybe meet soon locals and enjoy good food and beer.

I have to admit, I didn't expect to enjoy my meal as much as I did. The Cajun chicken sandwich was absolutely fantastic! Spicy, bacony deliciousness! Combine that with a diverse draft beer selection, and you can't go wrong here! I shall return...

We headed here this summer on the recommendation of a friend. It's great to have more places in Anchorage that have outdoor decks for our few nice days. Our experience was just okay. The service was a little slow and I wasn't that impressed with the food that we got. However, they do have several beers on tap, which is nice!

What an unexpected little gem because of its unpretentious exterior. This restaurant is really a must if you are in search of the perfect chowder! Great salads, great service - you are not going to be disappointed!

We have since come back with friends a couple of times to enjoy the summer night on their deck, and both times the service suffered pretty bad. The last straw was our last visit-ever! Two of our group did not get their dinner for 1.5 hours, my husband finally went to the kitchen and complained. They did comp the meals but it made the whole dinner experience stressful for everyone. I do not want to look forward to this kind of experience for a night out so we will go places that we have a pleasant time and food.

Today's brunch at the Slippery Salmon was the worst restaurant experience I've had in years. If you hate eating and love rude service, it might be up your alley. I noticed the nice deck area during the Pirate Pub Crawl, and thought this beautiful, sunny day would be the perfect time to enjoy it. First off, the waitress should just wear a t-shirt that says "0 fucks to give." It was at least 15 minutes before she greeted us (briefly and coldly). We ordered drinks and some food, then it was 25 minutes before the drinks arrived - for the make-your-own Bloody Mary bar. Huh? Are sloths working behind the bar? You just put some vodka and ice in a glass! The guest does the rest! The waitress set them down and didn't say a thing. I can understand a place being slower when it's packed, but it's pretty inexcusable when there are 8 people total in the entire place. As we went inside to make our drinks, there were 4 employees in the bar area standing around. We asked if our food had been started, and got a straightforward but confusingly unhelpful "No." Half of our group asked if they could cancel their food order, because they needed to get to another engagement and feared they wouldn't have time to eat once the food finally arrived. Meanwhile, the table next to us got food, but no utensils. Or napkins. With no staff in sight, they finally went inside to get it themselves. Ms. Zero Fs finally came out with our eggs bene and omelette. Finally! Hangry no more! Wrong. I dug into the first bite, and noticed a thick, black hair on the plate. I pulled on it, and it was wrapped in the eggs and hollandaise, at least 6 inches long. That was the cue to give up and go elsewhere. We told the waitress about the hair, and she nonchalantly mumbled "sorry." Nothing else. The one good thing she did was take it off the bill. The gyro at the Downtown Market was well priced, delicious, and ready in minutes. I highly recommend it.

One of the best outdoor places to eat in Anchorage. The burgers are good - not the best in town, but not the worst either. They have a good beer selection, with plenty of Alaska Beers. My one comment here is - if you are going here - the place is on the corner of 3rd and A. A St. is one way and you won't be able to get into the parking lot if you are on A St. Make sure you take Cordova or on of the other streets down to 3rd so you can get into the parking lot.

Came here with a group of friends as we wanted a causal restaurant with good beer on tap. I tried both the battered halibut and king crab legs. They were fresh and delicious. I also liked that they had a lot of local beer on tap. The Kassiks IPA was great and I also enjoyed the Denali Agace Gold. It is fun to try beer that I cannot get at home. Our server was attentive and it was an enjoyable dining experience.

Had breakfast here. Food was good. Service was excellent and fast. Wife had sourdough pancakes for first time and thought it was a good change of pace from fluffier buttermilk pancakes. They had some great choices on the menu. The atmosphere was both unique and generally pleasant. Took a look at the breakfast buffet option - didn't try it and probably wouldn't recommend it. Seemed the choices were too limited. Overall, liked the place and would return if in the area.

Our first visit to this place. It started out good, but ended up being quite disappointing. We didn't mind the loud classic rock and bustling atmosphere; on a Friday night that's exactly what we were in the mood for. It was a cold, windy night so we sat inside the restaurant. Unfortunately, the room was cold as well, and we quickly put our coats back on. Started with the pear & bleu cheese salad, which had a great flavor but the lettuce was brown and wilted. Oh well, we picked around the brownest parts and ate it anyway. The salmon chowder was delicious. The halibut chunks, on the other hand, were heavily breaded and flavorless. Enough so that I sent them back, and I almost never send food back. The waiter told me that everyone loves their halibut chunks. Not a helpful response. I was going to order another bowl of the chowder instead but the waiter then ignored us for about 20 minutes. By then, we had given up and were ready to leave. He did take the halibut chunks off the bill, which I appreciated. Still, I really don't think I'll return, even though I had hoped to try out the deck on a nicer day.

We ended up at this restaurant because it was attached to the ramada inn we were staying at and we arrived on a late flight. We had no great expectations but it turned out pretty good. We ordered two fish dishes, which were very fresh and well seasoned. The waiter recommended a local beer which was excellent. Only complaint we had was that the soup was too salty. The service was prompt and the place had the vibe of a neighborhood bar. We would come back again.

I am really surprised by this place. I had read some old, negative reviews here on Yelp, but some friends wanted to meet here to scope out the place for potential football watching this season. I was a little wary, but as soon as we walked in, I knew this was gonna be better than I expected. It looks brand new here. I don't know what was there before, like if it was a remodeled old restaurant or what (even though I drive by it every day), but it was clean, fresh, and updated. 11 tables (some seating four, others seat 8) and some bar seats, as well as a big patio with heaters and umbrellas, so it's cozy enough without being suffocating. There's 7 flat TVs, a fireplace, and big windows to let in a lot of natural light. Bathrooms were kind of old and cramped, but they were clean. They have no updated website or menus online -- in retrospect, I shoulda snapped a couple photos of the menu, but since it's still a relatively new place, I wouldn't be surprised if they change things around after the tourist season. Service was great. Our waitress was pleasant and accommodating without being overbearing nor unattentive -- just the right amount of check-ins to see how we were doing. Food came out pretty fast, too. They don't have a really big menu, nor do they have many veg options (no vegetarian wrap or burger patty replacement, which woulda been nice) but they do have some good-looking stuff that appealed to me, and they had a variety enough with their other items to please the picky. The other couple got nachos, which were ENORMOUS and a really good deal at the price (I think the nachos were $7? $7.25 maybe?), and it was just a mountain of chips, salsa, sour cream, and a bunch of other stuff. It probably could have fed all four of us. My boyfriend got the TBLT, which he consumed in its entirety (and it looked like a good-sized portion, so you get your money's worth), and I ordered a cheese pizza and asked for some vegetables on it. It came with a side salad, and for a side salad, it was damn good -- fresh, crisp DARK leaves (instead of crappy ice berg) with half of a boiled egg, chopped veggies and fresh croutons. I should have asked for light cheese on the pizza, because it was really cheese-heavy, so the pieces were a bit greasy and floppy, but it still tasted really good. They didn't skimp on the veggies, either. I didn't order a drink, but they have some cheap pints. $3.75 for a Rainier, and I think it was $14 for a pitcher. They have a full bar, and their wine list looked reasonable ($7 or $8 a glass, ranging upwards of over $20 for a bottle which is decent), so I'm looking forward to trying cocktails and stuff. I'll be coming back. I have been won over by the cleanliness, good service, and food. I was afraid it would boast a menu of typical fried bar food, but I didn't feel guilty eating here! Their bar selection is going to be a nice accompaniment during football season.

My husband and I came here to watch the game. They only serve a burrito and juice for breakfast for the early game, but the burrito was really tasty! The coffee was hot and fresh and the service was upbeat, prompt, and friendly. Also a plus; the place is clean! I would try it out again, but perhaps in the afternoon or evening when they have more food and drink selection. Cons: not really a kid-friendly place, I brought my baby and it probably wasn't my smartest move as the place can get really lively :-) and the seating is not super comfortable.

Had the Twisted Cowgirl Cheese dip with fresh pico de gallo, pork, and guacamole on top with fresh tortilla chips. It was the best cheese dip I have ever had, anywhere. The Bar-B-Q beef and pork sandwich with jalapeño macaroni and cheese was as close to Texas Bar-B-Q as you can get in Anchorage. The bar tender was very friendly and gave great service. She let me sample 3 beers to find the one I liked. The place is decorated in rustic Alaska-style log furnishings, clean, warm and inviting on the cool rainy day that I was there. The outside deck looking over Cook Inlet and Mt. Susitna appeared very nice as well, but, it was cool and rainy so I didn't go out there. The Slippery Salmon is off the beaten path but still very close to downtown and within easy walking distance. Only a block east of C St. and the downtown outdoor market. I live in Anchorage and just happened to see the lights from a distance. I had no idea it was there and it's been open a few years. It's a good find and I'll be back.

This place is in the same building as the Ramada. The desk clerk highly recommended it and gave me a coupon for %10 off of an entree. I was tired from traveling and gave it a try. Atmosphere: Very plain, almost cold in feel, with some bar stool tables and some regular tables. Service: OK Prices: A glass of cheap chardonnay, that wasn't even a 4 oz pour, was $7.50---No, really. The lousy sandwich was only $10.25, though, but for good reason. The cup of chowder was overpriced in comparison to a delicious homemade chowder I enjoyed the following night--for roughly the same price. Food: I started with the salmon chowder. If I were to venture a guess, it was Snows brand New England style chowder with some store-bought smoked salmon sprinkled on the top. Yes, really. I had the Sewards Catch, a halibut sandwich. One might assume that being in Alaska, there is an abundance of fresh seafood and it is served in all of the restaurants. Don't assume that. If Snows brand makes a frozen halibut patty, I might at least assume that was what was on the sandwich. I imagine this place might be out of business come winter, unless they get enough of the Ramada guests. There are many other choices for downtown Anchorage that serve better food. I won't be back.

The deck was great, drinks fair, food and service not good. Wait staff were friendly but slow with the drinks and refills and took my drink before I was finished and my plate while I was still eating (rest of my party was done so not sure if waitstaff were just not paying attention or were eager to finish shift). If I go back, I will try a burger or a salad. The tex mex and regular mex unfortunately were all too sugary. The black beans while perfectly cooked were almost sickly, southern BBQ sweet as was the pork in the carnitas. The people in my party who ordered salads were happy, anyone ordering tex mex, thumbs down. I would definitely recommend this place for drinks after work but head somewhere else for the main attraction.
