Great burrito. Super tasty and huge. Just like Subway, you tell them what you want and they assemble it in front of you. The Qdoba smelled like a bus stop, so I wasn't loving that. It was also kinda pricy. Even though it was delish, I think I'll stick with Taco Bell, which is a much better value.

Very poor service with vague excuses. Food was not up to usual standards for the chain. Charged extra for Mango salsa without disclosing that the item would be at extra cost. No indication from the menu that it was an extra cost item.

The last couple times I have had a less than stellar experience. Came in today for a quick lunch to go and got the vegetarian gumbo. I always ask for the grilled veggies but was charged extra for them this time. I was like, "What?" Oh well. Also, when I was asking for salsa etc the lady didn't put any on, and handed it off to the chick at the register. English appeared to be their second language and I kept having to repeat myself and say what as the girl apparently had a vocal cord problem and would not speak above whisper. Nice people but annoying. I'll write this off my list for a while.

Bad Qdoba. It's obvious that they're trying to save money by giving you super small portions. Also I'm not sure the employees have been trained because the wrapping is hilariously bad. Also the burritos come out as a "ball" and aren't very oval because they don't understand how to spread the food in an oval.

Friendly service, super clean but holy cow, I feel like I ate a salt lick! I had a burrito with shredded pork, brown rice, black beans, guacamole and salsa. The burrito was really tasty but I'm now chugging water by the gallon!

QUESO STEAK BURRITO:) I love their queso sauce in my burrito. Love that i can eat half, and save the other half for later... and its just a great place to take food to go/eat in. I haven't tried anything else and i don't plan on it either! :)

First of all - the flavors aren't remotely Mexican. The "presentation" is about the only thing Qdoba has in common with Chipotle, which for a chain is a million times more authentic, at least ingredients-wise. I'm still trying to figure out what spice medley Qdoba used to assault my mouth. And I'm not talking about a "spicy, burst-of-flavor and heat" assault, I'm talking about "an ewww, is that turpentine and cumin?" assault. If you want Americanized 'queso' cheese-sauce and grocery-store chicken bites, save your money and go to Taco Bell. If the CEO of Qdoba ever reads this Yelp, I would like him to know that squeezing fresh lime on salted chips is the way to add citrus deliciousness NOT covering them with some nasty synthetic lime salt. Gross.

In my opinion the second best burrito this town has to offer, Burrito Heaven being the first. I usually opt for the steak queso and it is always massive. Even though Qdoba is a chain restaurant, don't let that fool you into thinking they are anything like the competition, they blow those fuckers away.

I will admit I am partially biased because I have worked at Qdoba, but even before I did I liked eating here. It is like the Mexican version of Subway and that's why I like it. Mexican food that you can customize and get quickly. In regards to Amanda G's comment about the flavors being assaulting, I'm not really sure why her experience was so bad but I can attest to the fact that they do not use 'grocery store chicken bites' and 'nasty synthetic lime salt'. After having personal experience SLAVING away in the kitchen, i can say in confidence that the chicken and steak are grilled fresh daily and the chips are sprayed with lime juice and then tossed in salt. Kosher salt, not synthetic whatever crap. I would tell people to give Qdoba a chance to decide for themselves and I have also heard often that it's set up like Chipotle (I've never been there so i wouldn't know). I do love the Nachos and the Naked Burritos in the Crispy Taco Salad Bowls, it's really easy to choose from the menu and if you're not sure you can always choose to make your own unique entree. The ladies that work during the lunch shift at the Benson location are also very friendly and accommodating.

Honestly I'm not sure that the way this place is designed that it can ever be more than a "3". It's pretty mediocre food in a fast-food presentation. I will say that the food hit the spot for us that night, but it's really nothing to write home about.

It's fresh, and it makes you feel like you're eating somewhat healthy, but the cost for some of the products is just ridiculous. Close to $9 for a bowl of soup? Yechh. Even their naked burrito bowls are a rip-off. I thought the vegetarian burrito thing would have.. you know.. vegetables. For almost $9, I got a plastic bowl with some rice, beans, and some condiments (salsa, sour cream, guac and cheese). I can maybe see the value if you're getting some substantial amount of meat in it, but it's hardly worth the money. You're paying a lot for an unsatisfying meal. Yeah, it tastes good, they have cholula sauce, and the flavors are nice, but meh.. I could be happier spending money at Taco Del Mar or a local joint. Also, their medium salsa really needs to be a mild. There was hardly any kick to it; I had to douse everything in Cholula. It's hit-or-miss with friendliness of staff, as well as cleanliness of the restaurant.

I'm here in Anchorage visiting my family and I was out tooling around with my nephew Eugene and great nephew Nathaniel (you guys rock!) and Gene recommended Qdoba since they have vegetarian offerings. Gene had a regular burrito, Nate had the Mexican Bowl (don't know what that is but it looked good!) and I had the vegetarian burrito and chips with extra hot sauce! The food was delicious, the service was great and spending time with family was beyond words! Good suggestion Gene! Thanks Qdoba!

As a former Asst. Mgr at Qdoba on Benson. I know for a fact that the Chicken and Steak are grilled several times a day. Yes I still eat at the one on Benson. I have personally supervised the cooking process of all the meats and have no hesitation on recommending them to anyone. I was also known as the chip master, I took pride in producing the best cooked chips during my shift sprayed with just the right amount of Lime juice and tossed with the correct amount of Kosher salt to make the Fresh Hot Chip experience great with or without salsa or queso. I have been to Chipolte, Baja Fresh, and Several other Casual Mexican dining establishments and the lack of Fresh meats and produce have always left me regretting going there. I have experienced the fresh vibrant flavors of Qdoba on Benson and would not waste my money on the others. Most Burritos weigh around a pound. 4 oz of rice, 4 oz of beans, 3 1/2 oz of meat, 2 to 4 oz of salsa, 1 oz cheese, 1 oz of sourcream, and an ounce of lettece and you can add 2 oz of queso and/or 3 oz of Fresh made guacamole. That is a lot of food for one person. (my suggestion is have them cut it in half or take a friend and share it) They also offer samples for those who want to know what the food taste like before choosing your selection. For a relaxing dining experience this is the place to go.

I went in to this store to get some faux mexicano food and was in for a surprise when I opened my burrito wrapper after arriving at home, it is a good thing I rescued this little guy because clearly he was crying for help to get out of there! Seriously though the store was clean, it was not busy while I was in there, one person in the lobby sitting, and four (who were together in line) I have more complaints about the person in front of me , the husband disappeared forever after saying he wanted quesadillas , but NOT what he wanted and the wife just stood there baffling when the people working there asked what she wanted on them, the husband finally did reappear and said "oh I forgot" yeah okay. I had a veggie burrito with the spicy cheese sauce, pretty good besides the alarming look on my burritos face, far better than the Qdobas here in Corvallis, the service was far better and the staff friendlier than in Oregon.

I know what you're thinking: "wow, a 4-star review of Qdoba? Slow news day?" Allow me to explain: I love Chipotle. I don't care if it's a chain. It's not even a guilty pleasure, it's all pleasure. I could eat there many times a week. Yes, I know it's not "authentic". No, I don't care. Yes, I know they use white rice. No, I don't care. (oh, and they are not owned by McDonald's, look it up!) Anyway, why all the talk about Chipotle? Well, Qdoba is like a poor man's Chipotle. And we are mighty poor in terms of Mexican-inspired-lower-48-chains up here in the last frontier. Seriously, Qdoba is so much like Chipotle that I had to google to see if they were owned by the same company. (and according to google auto-complete, so had many others) TL;DR: They aren't the same company. But they both got their start in Colorado. Chipotle pre-dates Qdoba by 3 years. It's so much like Chipotle that they have the EXACT same salsa, arranged in the EXACT same way. You could take a picture of their ingredients and it'd be very hard to tell if the photo was from Chipotle or Qdoba! I'm actually shocked there hasn't been a lawsuit over this, they are so similar. But, and this is important, it's not exactly a carbon copy of Chipotle. It's more a Xerox. Of a Xerox. Of a Xerox. Or like an ancient holy text, originally written in cave paintings...then translated into Aramaic, then Hebrew, then Greek, then Latin, and finally into English. Something has been lost. The text has given up the spirit. Quite simply: things just don't taste anywhere near as "fresh" as they do at Chipotle. That is the main difference. It's hard to articulate it any more than that. But if you've had both, you probably know what I'm talking about. No, this is not just an Alaska thing either. I've been to many Qdoba's in the lower 48, and they all taste like Chipotle...if Chipotle were allowed to sit in your fridge for an extra half-day. So why 4-stars? This is all we've got, man! We've got many great authentic Mexican joints up here. But if you want a big 'ol Mission/SanFran-style burrito that's more-or-less a Mexican subway sandwich in a tortilla...this is more-or-less your only options. The burritos are big. They make make my already-tiny wrists look like baby-wrists. I bet you couldn't even fit most watches around one of these bad boys! And this place is quick and "cheap".

It's a standard Qdoba. It's the same process and same food as every other Qdoba. They do give a 10% military discount here, which is nice. The ordering and payment process here was smooth and easy. The line moved relatively quickly. It's clean enough. There's obviously a lunchtime rush, but they seem to handle it well. My favorite thing from Qdoba remains the chips and queso. Their queso is quite yummy. The pulled pork tacos are pretty good too.

Up here in Anchorage visiting, and have been to this location a few times now as it is close to my hotel. Pretty much the same Qdoba as the lower 48. Same menu at Alaska prices. I give them 4 stars for great service and constant good food, what you'd expect at a Qdoba. Only complaint, the "hot" sauce, is not hot. It has great flavor, but not hot.

I just happen by this place when I was looking for some lunch. It reminded me a lot of a Mexican version of 5-Guys without the peanuts. You line up in this area that looks like a cattle shoot leading to the counter. The ordering is very fast and I wasn't familiar with the menu so I ordered the burrito and just took everything she suggested except I got shredded beef instead of chicken. I also had one of those flavored waters and my order came to $12 and some change. Average I guess for Alaska but a bit high for this Washington boy. It was very large and hard to eat without blowing the sides out so the one napkin was used up before the foods was gone. I would go back again and maybe try one of the dishes in on a plate as they looked easyer to eat.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
