I had the General Tso Chicken and wife had Chicken Chow Mein/Sweet Sour Chicken. Both meals were fresh off the wok and the presentation was great. The taste was pretty good and the sauces were tasty. Wife said that the Chicken Chow Mein was a bit salty but I didn't think so. I give this place 3.7/5 for the presentation, customer service, and like I said the food was served hot. However, if you look closer to the ingredients they use in the fried rice and soup you will notice the low quality. Chicken they used for the sweet sour and general Tso is similar just different sauce. The chicken bits (if you pay close attention) has more breading than actual chicken - precooked and frozen. If you ever had Good quality Chinese food then you'll see that they use real chicken cutlets.

I've been coming to Northern China with my family for more than 20 years. The staff is very friendly and attentive. It's never too crowded or too loud. I love the authentic Chinese decorations and atmosphere. Above all else the food is always fresh and hot. They lost a lot of business with the expansion of the Tikahtnu shipping center but they have persevered. I can always count of them to satisfy my craving for Chinese food. And they are super close to my house :)

Northern China has the best Chinese food I've had in Anchorage. Mongolian beef and the sesame chicken are our favorites!

I can't put into words how I truly feel about this place. It is by no means fancy or the coolest place around. But if you are looking for good service and a quite environment to talk while piging out. Look no further. The food has never been bad since I have started to come here back in 1995. Never returned a single plate. Never.

I've been going to Northern China for years now and I recommend it to anyone! You really can't go wrong here, I've tried several things on the menu and have loved it all. There is no way you won't be full after leaving, they give you an egg roll, a huge plate of food, and egg drop soup. Some things might be a bit pricey, but it'll be worth it. Don't go back to Carrs to get Chinese food when you could pay a few more bucks and get fresh and more flavorful Chinese from Northern China! I do miss their buffet, though :(

Not very impressive or inviting from the outside but definitely worth a visit. Best Chinese food I've found in Anchorage.

Order to go few times. Food quality is consistently good. Dont be fool by the outside. Interior is typical. Get the pork fried rice. Very good. You won't be dissapointed in this chinese joint. Beats kennys kitchen any day as for the muldoon area.

Loved it!!! The service was very prompt. The food was great. Customer service was outstanding. I know it's attach to a strip mall but don't over look it. I can't wait to go there again.

Okay so it had to be -50 below zero for this transplanted Alaskan or as my older brother lovingly refers to me "for this Californian Wimp". But I had a craving for some chow mien and I was hung-greee if you catch my meaning. I was driving around (no I didn't "yelp it" which I will going forward) trying to find an Asian restaurant or at least a restaurant that served Asian food (yeah okay that was lame, even I admit that) when I came across Northern China Restaurant. I was a bit concerned when I saw the price, I'm used to California pricing and BELIEVE ME there is a $difference$ however there was no difference in the taste of the food, the kindness of the owners and the speed of the service! I also appreciated how they had signs proclaiming the Word of Christ and the Spiritual Laws of God in their restaurant. These people were Christians who acted like Christians and made me feel welcome. Their chow mien was good and I believe you would like it also so please give them a try!

Can't seem to find decent Chinese in AK! The food was awful! Left still hungry. I have had really good Chinese before in Hawaii, where there is a strong Chinese presence. This was not good, not even Panda Express good.

Pretty good chinese food in anchorage. I usually don't promote places that prostletyze with my meal, but these people are sweet and we don't have too many places to choose from in Muldoon. Does the trick when I need a pick up on the Eastside for dinner.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
