Great menu! We all loved what we got, and enjoyed our lunch on a nice outdoor patio. I ordered the salmon sandwich which did not disappoint, and my fiancee got the grilled shrimp salad. Service was excellent. Definitely worth a drop by if you are in town ...

Nice offerings conveniently inside the Museum We had lunch at Muse on a rainy day while touring Anchorage - you can dine here without seeing the museum if you wish. The restaurant was clean, nicely decorated and had a good menu. We loved the seafood chowder - especially tasty on a cool rainy July day - and the burger, and chipolte shrimp salad were winners as well. We heard that they were under new management - the food & service were great plus you can make reservations. We would recommend Muse for those touring the museum or if you are just in the area.

Very unexpected for a museum cafe, very chic with a nice menu and large wine list. I was expecting a coffee shop and got pleasantly surprised. Had a nice sauvignon blanc from NZ, my favorite location . And a lemon cake dessert, Very tasty and a huge serving! Would highly recommend.

I think my expectations were a little too high. My dad and I decided to dine here for a late lunch after a visit at the museum. Muse was conveniently located on the bottom floor; although we both agreed it would have been much nicer on the top floor because of the great view. Ambiance was modern and the music was pleasant to listen too, it fit the mood. Service was ok; we were seated, water glasses filled when needed, orders taken quickly and food was delivered. Not much else to add. I ordered their soup special of the day, a creamy tomato and basil soup. It was ok. The tomato and basil flavor was toned down a lot by the cream so it was more like a cream flavored soup not tomato/basil. Also, it should have been served hot, not mildly warm. The nutty bread on the side was great though! But I didn't order the soup for the small slice of bread. My dad ordered the combo of a salad and chicken pot pie (but for like chicken filling). I tried the pot pie and it was nice and creamy. Unlike a pot pie you normally think of, this one had a puff pastry placed on top. I'm not sure if I liked that. At least it was flaky and tasted good. The flavor of the "pie" was alright, it had a strange aftertaste. Again this dish should have been served hot. Dad said the salad was "OK" so whatever that means. We shared an order of the yam fries and we're happy they properly named them. They were delicious and my favorite item we ordered. The aoli was good too, but watch out its super super garlic-y. And guess what, the fries were almost too hot to eat because they were fresh out of the fryer! I was impressed. Overall I'm not sure I'm too impressed with Muse besides their yam fries and comfy red chairs. I may give them another chance but in my opinion, the food was not worth the price. Go ahead and try it, but don't expect a super "hot" meal. Pun intended.

Great food, best halibut I had. I brought two kids to the place. Service is top notch as well, waiter is very polite and friendly with our request.

I must give credit where credit is due and this place did a much better job than the last time we were here. The place is very clean the wait staff was very courteous and prompt and the food was good. I understand it is under new ownership and that might explain the changes. I would feel comfortable giving these folks another try and I would suggest others do too. Parking was an issue but my understanding is the museum has parking in their basement garage for a dollar an hour.

Muse is always delicious. Very clean and the staff is always very friendly. I love the atmosphere. Calm, classy and there are TVs at the bar in case you roll solo. Plus when you're done you can always go check out the museum. Great place for lunch or a date. They also have a fabulous wine, beer, and champagne selection.

Nothing special. Much better places to eat in Anchorage. Went for lunch and had chicken pot pie with green salad. Husband had po boy with fries. Mushrooms in pot pie tasted musty. Too much dressing on salad. Really things were okay but again nothing special. Great ambiance and cool location. Service was good.

Well so I had higher expectations, the food was ok. The food was not warm or hot like it should be. The appetizers are so cheap which is great, all in the $5 range. I ordered I think the pesto linguine and the feta artichoke spinach dip. The dip was tasty but should have been piping hot. There was no excuse for this, there was NO ONE else in there. My kids got spaghetti and pizza. The pizza was on a overly thin pita. It was kinda crazy they would even call it a pizza. My husband had a cheeseburger, he said it was very good. I had a glass of white zen, berringer. I mean this place would be great for adults wanting a quick bite but I wouldn't dub it anything more than a quick place to grab a bite. It's very modern in there and red, but I liked that!

High quality food at regular anchorage prices. I've never had a bad meal here. Get the pot pie, you won't regret it.

Half priced apps from 4-6 on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Well, it was Friday and I had a Groupon, so here I come! I was a little curious since the reviews seem to be all over the place like a drunk driver on a slippery unplowed side street. I always like to give a business the benefit of the doubt, and I'm glad I indulged my curiosity. The setting was nice, and the service quick and friendly. I passed four tanks of infused vodka on the bar, and I knew what I was having. Pepper infused vodka! My server looked at me like I was from Mars when I ordered it on the rocks with some club soda. She said that it was super spicy and they normally serve it in a bloody Mary. Nope! "Full power Rudolph!" Spicy it was! Just what a hot head like me was looking for on a dark and snowy night. We ordered four Oysters Rockefeller between the two of us, and at a buck fifty apiece during happy hour, this was a bargain. They were nice and fresh, and the cream helped to put out the fire that my beverage ignited on my tongue. The menu was a little weird. There were high end entrees in the $30s, and the next price range was around 15 bucks. I didn't see the value in the upper end stuff, so we opted for a couple of the lower priced picks. My girl had the baby back ribs, and I got a bacon Swiss burger. Hers came with sweet potato fries, and a cole slaw with a touch of sweet chili sauce. I was very impressed with the ribs. Five big, meaty, and moist pork ribs adorned her plate and the jerk rub came through the light BBQ sauce. It was perfectly cooked! My burger was Kobe beef, and it was just what the doctor ordered. I had the option of regular or sweet potato fries, and opted for regular. They were house cut and cooked just right. Loved it! Ooops! I forgot to mention. The drinks were very affordable. My date had a dirty Grey Goose martini, and it was 9 bucks. A full $3 less than what I'm used to paying at a couple of other bars in town. My fire infused Ketel One? $6.50. Not bad!

It's pricey but worth it, food & service wise. Thoughtful and inventive options, but nothing so outrageous you wonder what the heck they were thinking. The decor is modern and sleek at first glance, but after sitting down, you see 50s chairs and chips in the table paint. Overall, great place.

This is a restaurant inside the Museum. So you can come in and just eat here if you like. You do not have to go through the Museum first or buy tickets. This is my 3rd visit here. I like it , the Museum, itself and gift shop , as well as the restaurant. They serve alcohol which I find a little odd. But, we are in Alaska and things are just a little different. The food is really good here, at least what I have tried. The soup is by far my favorite. Since it was raining on this day ,I found it even better. It is a corn seafood Chowder. It is so filling you can barely eat anything else. It is rich and creamy and packed with fruita de Mar! (Seafood) A lovely cup of hot tea as well. Divine on a 60 degree rain filled day. I see that they have a lot of nice desserts as well. I got a huge cookie that I had to take with me because, I could not eat anything else. But, I ate it later and it tasted freshly baked. Maybe they get them from a local bakery. Or maybe they make them themselves. I forgot to ask about that. I did not think of it till I was eating it and by then I was already gone. Another time here I got a salad with Salmon on it. It was really good, tasted as if it was fresh from the sea that day. Plus, Anchorage has some really great Vegetables. Apparently they play live music here on certain days of the week, or special occasions. Which I imagine would pretty nice because, of the acoustics here. You would not think a Museum restaurant would be a place you would want to visit. But, it is good I have to say.

Under new management, they no longer serve cocktails -- a REAL shame, since they had unusual options based on unique infusions, such as a basiltini you couldn't get anywhere else. (Weirdly enough, this was the 2nd time in a week that I ran into favorite restaurants that had changed their liquor licenses. A trend?) I ordered their special of the day (off-menu) - chicken marsala; it was OK as a chicken dish, but didn't seem very much like any marsala I've ever had. It had very little sauce and not much marsala flavor. I also ordered a red wine that I wish I could remember the name of -- something Australian w/lovely spice. Perhaps the best red wine ever. Very good service. Tasty artichoke spinach dip!

Went with friends and we were all disappointed. The food was just OK and the wait staff was very slow. The restaurant seemed very clinical and cold.

Been to Muse for both lunch and dinner on several occasions. Food and service has always been excellent. Last August I had my wedding reception at the museum and Muse catered. Muse management and staff went above and beyond to making our reception perfect. Rachel and Emily assisted with planning every detail. The attention to detail and professionalism was more than I would have ever expected. Catering our wedding reception was a large part of the budget, but you get what you pay for. In our case Muse was more than we had bargain for. I HIGHLY recommend Muse from an afternoon lunch to catering the most important day of your life.

The two stars are for ambiance. Came with a party of 5 and we all agreed this was one of the worst dinners we ever had. Ordered a hamburger. It came out super pink on the inside. Sent it back. Came out again super pink. Decided to give up and order something else. Ho hum. This was months ago and we still laugh every time we pass this restaurant. Ordered chocolate cake. It was so rock hard I couldn't even take a bite. The waiter saw me give it a solid whack trying to break into it, and rather than replace it, blissfully asked how was the cake. "Hard as a rock", I replied. Totally inedible. I ordered the creme brulee which was passable, but far from the best ever. Finally, the waiter said we could have a discount, but we paid with a groupon and just burst out laughing at the idea of repeating a meal at this place. I would NEVER eat there again even if it was free.

Went to Yelp with two friends yesterday at noon, for Sunday brunch before going to the museum. The experience was not a good one. The three of us were seated by 12:10. We waited with menus for more than 20 minutes before we were approached by a server. We waited another 25 minutes to be served - no beverages were offered during this time. At 12:56, our food (and coffee) was presented. The server or manager (unsure which) whom we spoke to was quite dismissive about the delay, saying that someone hadn't shown up for work, and that was just how things happened, wasn't it? There was no meaningful validation of the fact that we had waited almost an hour for a salad, a bagel with lox, and two eggs. When the bill was left on our table, there was no mention that Museum members could get a discount. Each of us had individual memberships, but we were unaware of this policy until after we left, after we had paid the full price. I wonder if our treatment would have been different if we had been a party of three men, instead of three women. We were treated as if we were fortunate to be sitting there at all. I have been to Muse before, and it was not like this. It will take me a while, however, to want to try it again.

Can't exactly rave about the food. Not bad, but definitely forgettable; especially for the price. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Best part is definitely the window wall, especially when the sun is out.

Stopped here in 3/2011, 2/2012 and 1/2013; enjoyed the same delicious appetizer each time, the Melitzano Salata. This year I indulged in a slice of Chocolate Velvet Cake, which was lethally rich and *good*. Service has always been friendly whether at the bar or at a table, and the live jazz or blues music on the first Friday night of each month is most enjoyable. This is a fun, convenient stop that adds to the overall enjoyment of visiting the Anchorage Museum. Definitely recommend.

Ruined my Valentine's Day evening - didn't have my reservation. Another couple said same problem. The manager came out, and if this is the best Marx Brothers can do they really need to re- evaluate! She was awful. Essentially, said we lied about our reservations! I work at a large medical center, and I had told a lot of people how excited we we were for the evening. I plan to make sure a lot of people know how we were treated. The manager could have made things better with a different attitude, but I can only think she is representing the attitude of Marx Brothers. Restaurants come and go - good luck Marx Brothers! You have been in Anchorage a long time, but I wouldn't become too complacent!

My family and I make a point of eating at Muse any time we come to the museum. The menu features some traditional cafe items for the non-foodie types, great kid's items (chef's must be parents) and then, for me the foodie, fun outside the box items, so that we are all happy campers at the table. At one visit, they had a apple/thai chicken/peanut sauce/cheddar panini as a special, which I ordered, of course, surprising both the server and several members of my family. And it was delicious. Did I mention the infused vodka's, too. Yep. Another reason to go. In fact, my friends and I have been known to go just for the happy hour drinks and appetizers, sans kids and museum visit. Great place to get a bite to eat or have an adventure. Either way, you'll be happy after.

Usually I shy away from museum eating establishments because they are, well, in a word, bad. The food usually tastes like it's been sitting around for too long and is quite uninspiring. Muse, on the other hand, was like a breath of fresh air. What hits you first is the atmosphere--a modern feel with bright colors and natural light coming in from the floor to ceiling windows. We sat at the bar in cool comfy bar stools. Service wasn't spectacular...we waited a while to be approached and clearing our places in between courses took a long time. But, as long as the food is good, I usually overlook spotty service. And lucky for our waiter, the food was good! I was curious about their chowder since I'm from New England, and it was nicely done. A bit too creamy, but overall nice flavors. The salmon bruschetta was fresh and vibrant. The Santa Fe chicken sandwich and crabcakes were delicious as well. Great aoili with the chicken sandwich. Muse was a very pleasant surprise to this museum cafe skeptic. It's a great place to get a quality lunch during the work week or to sit down with a drink after a day of touring.

I took my son here mid week after a doctor appointment. He was really excited to see the Museum and I was excited to try Muse. My son is a well-behaved 8 year old. He thought the place was kind of neat and he loved his chicken strips and fries - all homemade. I got a kick out of the utensils - all wavy and artsy! My Ruben sandwich and the sweet potato fries were outstanding. Why the 2 stars? I thought long and hard before writing this review, then I read Yule's. So I knew I had to...it was 1:15 pm when my son and I walked in. Nobody greeted us. A group of 3 moms and tiny children were just leaving. They left a huge mess at a round table. Me and him were the only patrons in the whole place. Finally, some waitress or hostess, who was harried and irritable flagged us to "sit anywhere". So we did. As I looked around, I noticed the place was filthy. And I don't just mean from the messy mom's table (which remained dirty the whole time we ate). The floor, chairs and tables were all dirty. The floor in particular looked like it had not been scrubbed in a long, LONG time. I was really put off. Then after ten minutes of waiting as a waitress and cook sat at the bar and ate (!!!), the same hostess came out and said, "Have you been helped?" It was like she was seeing us for the first time!! WTF? I asked her, "Are we bothering you? Are you open, should we leave?" She copped an attitude and said "they" had been in the back (not the chef and the other waitress - they were sitting at the bar). We should have left. Had I known I could have gotten a bagel and smoothie around the corner in the museum, we would have. Anyways...we got a waiter finally and *shock* the food was good. I did mention to him "this place is filthy" and he laughed and said, "ya, it's after lunch" (so when do they clean it? just before dinner?). The hostess piped up and volunteered the floor is very hard to keep clean. No kidding. It's a floor. In a Restaurant. I can say I tried it. Unless they advertise they are under new management, I won't be back. The food was good but the service was smarmy, obnoxious and rude. Like what Yule said.

Sunday brunch is good, so is the selection of drinks. Service is really slow, wait staff could be a little more upbeat and attentive for sure! As they kind of have this "Can you eat and leave? I've got a close game of Words with Friends going on in the back." deamoner. The atmosphere is nice here but for the price point they could make a few changes to the service aspect of the restaurant. 3 stars cause service is really important no matter how good the food is.

Not worth the money. Sloppily run restaurant, but they don't have to be good, since they get first-timer foot traffic from the museum. Weak menu. Indifferent service. Huge portions though.

I had such an awful experience there last night that the two stars are mainly for my other, non-awful experience during lunch. Yes, they have a very good roasted beet salad, and it's a pretty space, and over lunch it was pretty relaxed and pleasant. (Other than a group of 5 toddlers screaming nearby with moms ignoring them and talking to each other. Midweek lunch, c'est la vie). Last night sucked in so many ways, I wonder if they have a different manager in the evening or something. The band was incredibly loud -- overpowering for such a small space, it really pounded on your ears. The more my friends and I tried to talk over the music, the louder it got. When I finally asked the waiter if it's at all possible to ask the band to play quieter (using this language), she said (and I quote): "No, I won't change the band for you." ??? Wow. I didn't report it to the group (who didn't hear what she said) because they were already irritated. And they're mild-mannered people. It also seems like the restaurant was understaffed: we mainly saw two waitresses, and they both seemed very stressed out and angry. Upon a request to add a chair to our table, the waitressed said, "I'm already overbooked," turned around, and walked away. It took her 20 minutes to take our order, then 30 more for the cafe to cook it (soup, which I assume is pre-made, and chopped salad). We got our food 5 minutes before the event that was taking place at the museum and had to gulp it down very quickly. The food: chopped Asian salad had two tiny flakes of goat cheese on it and barely any dressing, the chili tasted like something anyone can throw together with some meat and a can of tomato sauce, my friend got 3 scallops for $13.25. :( I know they have good infused vodkas and I may be back for those some day. Once the memory fades... The sad part is, this is just like Anchorage. Whenever a new, urban-ish place opens, everyone is excited and thinks this is going to be "the one." But it turns out to have the same mixed level of food prep and customer service as a lot of places here. At least with Humpy's, you know it will be loud (but you will be able to hear your friends) and tasty and large portions for that 13-15 bucks an entree/sandwich. I'll stick to it / Orso / Glacier Brewhouse for my favorite downtown places.

We like to go here for the happy hour lunch special (half off the appetizers between 4 and 6 pm Thursday through Sunday). The food is consistently good, although not outstanding. We particularly like the eggplant spread and the ahi tuna wonton "nachos." The wait staff is very professional, they do a great job. The heated, free, public parking in the parking lot underneath the museum is another benefit of this place. Thinking of going there this evening for happy hour and tucking our truck in there so it doesn't freeze solid =) The only thing that's off about this place is the sea of red. Everything in this place is RED... Even some of the art on the red walls is... red! Oh well, every place can't be beautiful I guess.

Museum food but not bad. The museum is so fantastic that you'll probably have to eat a meal there since you'll be there for so long. Good soups and sandwiches.

Grabbed a bite here last week during a break in training. Loved, loved the atmosphere! It's almost as if Anchorage finally has a place that measures up to its contemporaries. Prices were reasonable, given the average around here. Service was great. The food was a solid B. I had the seafood chowder and beet salad with chevre. The seafood chowder was fantastic, but the chevre on the salad tasted off--like it had started going bad. Then again, in my ignorance of haute cuisine, maybe chevre is on the list of GOOD stinky cheeses? Otherwise, a solid choice for the downtown crowd.

Muse is great for those "fancy" work week lunches and dinners. I've had several sandwiches off their menu for lunch (toasted trio, the burger), and all were delicious. I actually don't like their sweet potato fries (either too mushy or too crispy but nothing just right), but their regular fries are yummy. I also love the half-price happy hour on Thurs/Fri/Sat. The seared ahi tuna was fresh and delicious - it's usually $13.50 but during happy hour it's actually a steal at $6.75. I wasn't as impressed with the crab cakes, surprisingly Sacks has the best crab cakes I've had in downtown. For dinner once I had the filet mignon which was tasty but a little small. Service is generally fine, but sometimes it's a struggle to make sure they see you because of the way the tables and booths are set up. I would highly recommend for lunch and happy hour, maybe not so much for actual dinner.
