The food was really good, but the service left a lot to be desired. We waited at least an hour for our food after we were seated. In their defense, the manager did comp our meal when he was made aware of the situation.

Crystal is such amazing!! I think this place is great, and people need to realize they are so short staffed and it's not the waitresses fault. She's outstanding as well as the manager. 5 stars!

Atmosphere sucks when you are sitting next to a table full of employees eating a meal and they are on their "7th mother fucker" of the meal. It's a Sunday afternoon losers!!!! Classy place Next time Pass.

Terrible service & discourteous staff. Waited 1 hr 10 min for ordered food. Left & went elsewhere for birthday family lunch & received great food promptly with very polite & courteous staff. Will never return to this restaurant!

Had the medium Cajun ribeye... Being from Texas I have very high expectations for my steaks. Not bad but let's just say I'll stick with Texas Road house from how on.

Lone Star is in need of some serious help. It's been over a year since I had been there and I was hoping that they would have made changes to keep up with the competition, but after last night, my guess is that they don't care anymore. The only good thing was that the place was empty and we got right in at 8 pm on a Friday night. Some of the problems that stood out for me: Our onion bloom came with 1 small container of dip and when we finished it, we had to ask (multiple times) for more and it took them at least 15 minutes to finally bring it. We had to ask for the complimentary bread. My steak was over cooked and they forgot to bring my salad wedge, but they had it on the bill. My daughter's cheeseburger didn't have cheese and it took them over 10 minutes to bring a slice out to her. My nephew's steak was under-cooked and he had to send it back. WIth all of the other restaurants to choose from, I don't plan on giving them another chance.

Great service, Great food. The way o see it, if you can't cook a steak better than I can at home, why bother. Lone Star does a great job of preparing steaks. Just the way I like em. Thank you Lone Star! Merry Christmas 2014!

This review is a direct result of a horrible experience with the manager Brandon Seay. Did you know he can tell you how your steak is cooked just by looking at it. Must be some sort of super hero with infra red thermo imaging for eyes. It was stated that the steak ordered medium was undercooked and was more red than the medium rare steak on the plate next to it. Brandon's response was to inform our Neanderthal group that we were wrong and and that the steak was in fact medium. I responded that we could do a survey of other customers opinions of how the steak was cooked and with full confidence Brandon welcomed the suggestion. Yes the manager wanted me to go table to table and ask other patrons of how the steak was cooked and in fact actually welcomed it. I could not make this up. The server walked away if not from embarrassment but from the look on her face from shock from what was just said. I told Brandon that he is obviously an IDIOT and he had no justification being employed in a managers position. At that time Brandon grabbed the steak and took it away. A few minutes later Brandon came back with the bill and was happy to announce he credited the steak @ 50%. Ironic thing is he took the whole steak and I paid for 50%. Where I learned math, 50% of nothing is nothing. Infra red must also be armed with a scientific calculator app. That's the only thing that makes sense. Who encourages customers to interact with other customers at different tables to discuss how a steak was cooked? IDIOT MANAGERS I say I will never be back again

Solid business lunch destination when you don't need to make an over-the-top impression. Sirloin lunch was minimal and served accordingly on a small plate. Steak was cpoked to order and the service was great, although they should have waited for us to taste the food before asking how it was. A bit pricey for standard steak lunch fare but you can get in and out relatively quickly.

After my last awesome experience at Lone Star, when friends came in from out of town, we heartily recommended. What a mistake. I was SO embarassed. Our server wasn't a very good listener and didn't get our orders quite right. He also didn't make any suggestions. We sat for 45 minutes before we saw any food and the restaurant was DEAD. Our portions were TEENY... just steak. No salad, no side dishes. Just steak. You would think the server would have clarified our orders. We left hungry, aggravated and feeling ripped off. BOO!

My spouse has buisness meetings there every month or so. The guys like to go there since they can talk and the food is decent. My problem, and this is every single time,my spouse gets me a meal to go. They ALWAYS forget the condiments that go with something. Last night it was the lemon and cocktail sauce for the shrimp dinner. Last time it was the sauce for the blooming onion, time before that it was the butter and cinnamon & sugar for the baked sweet potato. These seem like little things but they are things that make the food taste right. Very disappointing. You shouldn't have topen your boxes to make sure they did their job and sent the food the way it was supposed to be sent.

Where to start? The only reason that I have a yelp account is because I made one just to write about what HORRIBLE service and food I received today. My husband and I went there for dinner, we ordered an appetizer and some drinks, our margaritas were filled to the brim with cubed ice ( meaning there was little to no beverage in the glass) my husband hated his drink but said nothing hoping our meal would be better. We were mistakenly wrong... We got our plates that were over 25 dollars a piece with little to no food on them. ( this isn't the locations fault it's a chain fault) my steak is completely black on the outside and when I cut into my steak (I specifically ordered well done) it was oozing blood and juices. And extremely rare. I eat the rest of my food that came out cold and un flavorful until our waitress comes back 15 min later asking how our food is. I explain politely that my steak isn't cooked all the way, she says okay how would you like that cooked...? At this point I was very confused as to why she didn't write it down in the first place because I did tell her. She grabs my plate that has my steak that I had cut into pieces and brings me back the exact same piece of steak I cut into one to find it so chewy and dry I couldn't even swallow it. After I made my initial complaint she proceeded to become annoyed and took our check ( even though she had seen that I didn't touch my steak). I have had my share of customer service experience, and I'm not a rocket scientist but when a customer doesn't touch their order, you MAKE IT RIGHT. There's a reason there was no one in your restaurant at the 6:30 dinner time, and that's because YALL SUCK AT MAKING A STEAK. ITS CALLED A STEAKHOUSE FOR A REASON. Smh

Stopped for a quick lunch....it's been a long time since we've been here. Now I remember why. The restaurant is in dire need of updating, and heat. It was freezing cold. My husband ordered a French dip which he enjoyed. I had a 6 oz steak with broccoli which I did not. The steak was at least half gristle. We tried to get a waiter, but none was to be found. When one finally did show up she did offer another steak but we had already been there 45 minutes. Good prices but you get what you pay for. There are better steakhouses.

Lone Star is a mediocre steakhouse. They have a variety of other items on the menu such as chicken, sandwiches, salads and ribs as well. I ordered one of the steaks and it was cooked exactly as I asked, medium rare. However, it wasn't very tender and pretty dry. We had requested for some A1 sauce but the waiter never brought it by to our table. The A1 would have helped me get the steak down easier! It wasn't really busy either so I'm not sure why he forgot. My side Caesar salad didn't taste fresh. It tasted like it was pre made and had been sitting in the fridge all day. Yuck. I doubt I would be back. Food isn't very appealing and service definitely needs improvement.

Very basic decor. They hostess was not friendly, no smile. The food is average. Portions are good. Price is good. Overall atmosphere is not inviting a little dull. The steak isn't good. But the servers are good.

Burger with fries was good tho the kitchen didn't prepare as I asked. I know the waitress got it right bcuz she repeated it as she wrote it down. We also ordered the steak - 6 oz sirloin with coconut shrimp. Rate the steak a 4 and the shrimp a 3. Had a cup of baked potato soup. Swing and a miss. Maybe rate as a 1. Never saw baked potato soup with carrots before. Looked more like a pot pie from kfc but tasted REALLY AWFUL. Had to dip a fry in ranch dressing to get the taste out of my mouth. If you really, really want that soup, you know a place nearby that can make it. But if you're good without it, the $3 Rawhide Rita and $10 burger is a great sale! And don't forget to try the fried green beans! Been here many times, try the pork chop or Delmonico.

My husband and I went here a few months ago for a steak dinner. The entire experience was terrible. Their bathroom was disgusting. My steak was well done even though I ordered rare. It was served on a plate without garnish; that's it, slab of meat on white plate. Talk about presentation? When I said that I would rather just skip dinner, the server kept offering desserts, which I was not interested in. When she figured that out, she just left it alone, but made sure to drop the check off before my husband was even halfway done with his meal. Super classy, huh? Absolutely terrible steakhouse. Save your money and go elsewhere.

If you want a perfectly prepared filet mignon, this is the place to go. 6oz filet with a baked potato and salad odd the go-to here. If you like peaches and/or bread pudding, this dessert will cap off your meal perfectly. Share dessert with your dinner mate. It's perfect!

Food is going down hill. Used to be a great place to go. It's as if they don't care about how anything comes out of the kitchen. Glad to see there is a new steak place opening up on the north end.

Very good... steak actually had seasoning & was cooked well... I might be too harsh in rating... did not care for the music, coffee bad, but good was: steak, mashed potatoes & the coconut shrimp was really good minus the sauce go for regular cocktail sauce. .. great food... company & service :)

I ordered the 6oz steak with garlic potatoes. They got it perfect with the steak being well done. The potatoes was kinda cold. But the service was better than a lot of other places.

We went there about a year ago and I was not impressed at all. Tonight my husband talked me into going back again. Had the ribeye and was surprised at how good it was. Our server was awesome, did a great job at getting our meal out right away. I ordered the iceberg wedge and the lettuce had brown spots all over it so I sent it back. Our bread that we got was a little on the driver side. My steak was great.

Server was friendly. I am always hesitant to give a business a low score when the service is great, but I realize that the server isn't responsible for everything. Food is just sooo.. generic and bland. It's nothing special. The cocktails are hilariously oversized, so you get to pay for the novelty of super-sugary mixers and some tequila. The sweet potatoes are so horribly overcooked and mushy, it was like eating stringy baby food. Even the mysterious "brown bread" that is a staple at many steakhouses was questionable. It was definitely not a crusty, hard, heavy bread, but it seemed like an airy piece of bread-like substance that was dyed brown to look authentic. Companions' meals are so uninspiring and formulaic, and the menu definitely says, "If you can't cook it properly, we'll deep fry it." Oh lord, the deep-friededness. I'm always wary to come to a chain restaurant, because you can usually get the equivalent (and better tasting) types of meals at a locally-owned joint. And, since a local restaurant doesn't need to adhere to a corporation's standards and expectations, they are less likely to use the same, frozen, pre-made foodstuffs. Whatever, if you're looking for a predictable chain-style meal, this is your place. It probably would also be a good place for a drink night out, if you want to ingest your weekly caloric intake in one night of drinking. Not like that's a bad idea to do now and again..

They need to get the cinnamon sugar back on the table! Other than that, they're alright.

Meh the food and atmosphere is okay. It is typical steakhouse, typical burgers, steaks, and chili. Decent service.

Great restaurant and a welcome slice of Texicana. I was visiting here from Texas and decided to go here for a steak. The atmosphere was great and reminded me of a good old Texas honky tonk. For those of you on the reviews that thought this was 'too' Texan have not really been to Texas. I had the 11oz Ribeye and for the price it was a fair cut of meat cooked as I requested it. The beer was cold but took a few minutes more to deliver than I had expected and it was brought by someone from the bar and not by our waitress. Definitely not a show stopper. The wait staff was nice and pleasent, bread was hot and the manager, Chuck, even stopped by for a visit.

I can't say I'm a fan of chain restaurants, but, occasionally, I end up at one when meeting up with friends. Lone Star is one of the spots we hit when we're doing the chain restauranty thing. Lone Star has the cheesy Texas theme going pretty heavy. When they first opened in '97, the waitstaff would break into a line dance when a particular song came on. So glad they stopped doing that. At lunchtime, I like to get their Signature Wedge Salad (Iceberg lettuce drenched in chunky blue cheese dressing and chopped tomatoes) or I get a baked Sweet Potato. With a glass of water, you're out $4-5.00 for lunch. Not bad. I haven't been to Lone Star for dinner in a while, so I can't review a dinner items, but looking at the menu, pictures included, it would satisfy most meat & potato lover's cravings.

Best steakhouse and perhaps my favorite overall restaurant in Anchorage. I love this place. Good food, good music, good atmosphere and friendly staff. Never had any complaints about this place. Been here many times and I'll keep going back. If you're looking for a great steak dinner, look no further. Better than Cattle Company, Friday's, Applebees and definitely better than Outback.

I love how cliche this place is. You walk in and the walls are covered by Texas memorabilia. The music is all country (though not Texas country). The menu is littered with phrases that are supposed to sound Southern. They used to have peanuts in pails that you could eat and throw the shells on the ground, but that was quickly nixed after someone sued them after slipping on a shell. They also used to have all their waiters line dance about every half and hour or so, but they don't do that any longer. Perhaps the waitstaff all threatened to go on strike? The food is solidly good every single time you go in. The portions are enormous--one could say that they are Texas sized (though, may I remind you that Alaska is almost two and half times bigger than Texas, so perhaps I should say they're Alaska sized?). Everything is wonderfully greasy and delicious. I recommend that you kill your arteries and enjoy a heaping pile of cheese and bacon fries. Wonderful on the taste buds, especially with the dipping sauce they bring. You can definitely escape here for not a lot of cash considering how expensive food is in Anchorage, and you'll won't need another meal for quite some time. I'm not a steak eater, but evidently they are pretty good here. If you're a vegetarian, be aware that their salads are only mediocre and not to expect a whole lot.

Definitely a great place to go for a Steak dinner. The prices are moderate, but most items come Ala Carte. Don't let that scare you away. You will spend some money, but it is well invested. When my Father was alive, we took him there, (the little sneak!) and we had to be careful what we ordered for him, as his diabetes was unpredictable, and hard to control. We explained this to the waiter. The cooks came out, asked him how and what he needed, and prepared him a diabetic dish to beat all! I was SO IMPRESSED. There are numerous specials each night, and you can't go wrong with any of them. Give them a try PARTNER!!!

This is a great steakhouse! The booths are nice and large. The service is wonderful. The food was prepared exactly how we asked for it and it was very timely. The menus were just updated, I can't wait to eat here again!
