Good food. I've yet to be disappointed for lunch or dinner. I love their desert tea!

The best sushi in Alaska, have never been disappointed nor dissatisfied!

Very pleased with my experience here. I've been to both locations and have enjoyed their sushi. Sashimi, sushi and rolls are all fresh and delicious. Many of the rolls are like ones found in other restaurants but with a different name. I enjoyed my calamari salad and spicy tuna salmon roll. I tried my friend's Wow Roll and liked the spicy tuna top paired with avocado, smoked salmon and toasty tempura outside. Be sure to get a cup of their tea! It's delicious. Large portions stretch your dollar! Moderate prices make it not a total bust to your bank account.

So it's the closest sushi place to the new home. I've been here a few times. Never "wow!" But never "ugh" either. Consistent. Given the price of sushi and sashimi anywhere in town, I'm amazed anyone eats it. Today was rainbow roll and tempura udon. Pretty good. Nothing crazy good. Tempura on the side was a good touch instead of the typically soggy tempura you get in the udon. Rainbow roll was good. You can tell they save the not so good pieces of fish for the roll. But I guess that's ok. Keeps costs down. Can recommend, just not going to be "wow-ed".

Don't get all the positive reviews. Service was slow. Food was mediocre to poor with poor presentation. Miso soup was a lukewarm liquid with a cloud in the middle and a bad aftertaste. Table and menu were dirty. No drink refills were offered until our check was brought. Will not return.

I placed a to-go order, and never received it. I waited 1 hour and finally gave up. I paid $16 and got nothing. What really makes me mad, it wasn't even busy. I will never go to this restaurant again. Couldn't tell you if the food is good, I didn't get anything.

Went once and was not overly impressed. Went back to try again. Both times, the service was lack-luster. I kinda felt like the waitresess were distracted and visited with each other more than paid attention to customers. Food was good, but a bit over priced. There are other places in town where I am always made to feel welcome and will continue to go to places like that, instead of a place that just seems 'too busy' to treat you well.

I finally got to try this place because they now do delivery! The fish that arrived was fresh and great portion sizes. Very tasty and reasonably priced for what you get.

I love this place. Once in a while I venture out and try another (usually because I'm meeting friends on another side of town), but nothing makes me as happy as I luv sushi. Brandon is great and imaginative. The food is fresh and super delicious. The service is friendly too. I really can't talk to the rolls, because I do not like to eat a lot of rice, but the sashimi is great and always beautifully decorated. I'm amazed at how often other sushi chefs forget to design the plate. Every time I get a plate, I take a moment to appreciate the effort that Brandon and the other chefs put in to the entire plate. One of my last visits, I came with a couple of friends and we shared the I Luv Sushi boat, and it was soo much food. They made each of us up a little to go plate for our lunches the next day. I love this place, and recommend it to everyone.

Just had a fabulous afternoon snack at I Luv Sushi. Heard it was the best Sushi in Anchorage and I can't disagree. The Sushi Chef was fun, knowledgeable and friendly! Recommend!

Decided to try this place on a whim. It is nice looking from the outside, and very cute inside as well. Service is slow, and the food is nothing remarkable. I had a california hand roll, a dragon roll, and the accompanying salad. It was all just average tasting and very slow service. When I went in I was ravenously hungry and in desperate need of some quick food! I thought I was going to expire before it arrived. When it did arrive, it was quite dissapointing, butI was just to hungry to not finish it. I won't be going back. I've talked to several friends and they all say the same. There are many better places.

This place was very average in everything they have to offer. We came here because of the great Northern Lights Coupon book and thought we would try them out. The layout of the restaurant is okay and it is nice inside. However, dear restaurant. I know you need to get your food inside, however, use a back door maybe? Or before you open. Because I froze my arse off at the sushi bar as you toted in about six carts full of food leaving that front door open when the temperature was 1 degree outside. It made my meal very uncomfortable. The sushi was just okay. I got the sesame chicken which wasn't bad, but wasn't so good that I just have to go back. Many more other sushi places in Anchorage that are worth visiting.

Their dessert rocks my socks! My bestie and I have been on a hunt for the best sushi in Anchorage. We've been here four times now, so I guess I can say we've found it. Consistent service, attentive without being overbearing, and even a freebie now and then. Tonight we went for dinner and had some appetizers, two rolls, soup and salad and dessert. I walked away feeling fabulous. Pros: the rolls are nicely presented and easy to eat (not too big or floppy!) Service is on point. Atmosphere is enjoyable, not too quiet- you can have a conversation without feeling like everyone can hear you, and not too loud- you can actually hear the people across the table. We got some free cinnamon tea after our meal and although I'm not a big fan, it was tasty. The menu is diverse without being overwhelming. Cons: The parking lot is very tight, and has been full every time we've been in. Since it's usually winter here... the spots get packed in, you can't see the lines, and Quiznos (down the way) has several spots marked for their customers only. Be prepared to walk. The salad dressing is too citrus-y for my taste, but that's a personal preference. It was definitely worth the price (including the $10 dessert)

I will give only one star ONLY because the decor is nice. Me and my husband came because there happened to be a coupon in the northern lights coupon book. The server was nice. The menu does not offer much. I ordered a New York steak medium well, and it arrived rare. My husband got the sesame chicken that was mediocre, and we had the stuffed mushroom and dragon roll. He ordered one beer. The stuffed mushroom was ok, and the roll was just ok. What we didn't realize is that they add 13 percent gratutuity automatically, so we tipped 8 dollars on top of that mistakenly and it added up to 21.00 tip total for an 80.00 meal. There are much better sushi places to dine such as RONNIE 2 or JIMMY'S sushi spot that gives an excellent menu minus the deceitful coupons/groupons. It seems that they hook you in for a nice surprise if you don't read the fine print carefully. We're not coming back!

Food was good but took almost an hour for simple dishes. Told it was a off day but not likely to try again at the cost.

The only reason for two stars is the food was actually pretty good and the live music was great. The huge problem was the service. I had bought an $80 Groupon a couple months ago for $48. My mistake was not reading the fine print. It actually said, "Not valid for "Raw" menu items." I was floored when the server pointed this out but I thought we would be ok with 9 of us ordering. We ordered 3 corn dog meals for the small kids at $8 a piece, chicken teriyaki for $22, sushi and tempura shrimp and veggie combo for $26, kids bento box for $14, California roll for $9, sashimi dinner for $40, and a sushi and sashimi combo for $40. Total of $175. Was this enough to get my $32 Groupon discount? Apparently not. The server taking the order said the sushi and tempura combo for $26 was ok for the discount. The assistant manager apparently disagreed and came over when delivering the bill to tell me I was $11 short of the $80 Groupon! Incredible! It took all I could to stay calm and tell her I wanted to see her manager. She disappeared with the bill for about 10 min and said she was finally able to get it ok'd. What irony... The item that I Luv Sushi won't allow on the Groupon is SUSHI!

YUM! The food is fresh and well prepared. The shrimp stuffed shrimp is one my favorite appetizers in town and I love the Ginger Cinnamon tea. The live music is a wonderful touch as is the meeting room in the back. My friend who has never had sushi was adventurous a week ago and tried it here and enjoyed it!

Just awesome. A great selection of food, even for my non-fish eating sushi-loving friends. They have several vegetarian rolls, a BLT roll and several other cooked rolls. The Happy Hour is wonderful, a great selection at LOW prices. I also like that the happy hour is from 3-6 pm. I can go for a late lunch or dinner that way. Their pineapple salad dressing is WOW. A little hard not to slurp it up with the chopsticks.

Talk about waiting... If you want to wait for a good hour for anything beside tea go here! Who cares what the food is like by the time it comes you're so pissed off it tastes like bile. This is the longest I have ever waited for food in my life.

Corny name...but great food. I've only tried the haedupbap and it is out of this world! Entree had a lot of fresh vegetables and plent of fresh fish, octopus and topped witb quail egg. I plan to come eat this again when I'm back in Anchorage later this week.

I LOVE this place! It's one of the best places in Anchorage to get Sushi! Service is always quick, food is always fresh, employees are always friendly and everything here is wonderful! Their cinammon-ginger tea is the best! If you want great sushi or japanese food, eat here!

Great south side sushi spot! I Luv Sushi is definitely one of our favorite spots. Consistently great Japanese cuisine combined with great service and a very elegant and comfortable atmosphere. We have ordered from all over their menu including sashimi, sushi, tempura and other traditional Japanese offerings. One of my favorites is the tonkatna (a breaded pork cutlet) which is always juicy and makes a nice alternative to all of the seafood we consume. Their sesame chicken is also a non-sushi offering for the less adventurous of your party, and is the best of its kind in town, very well prepared, lightly breaded and just the right amount of sweetness. My favorite though is the sashimi and tempura combination. Along with great food they often have live music, nothing so much as to be overwhelming, but a nice compliment to the dining experience, usually jazz vocal or mellow rock. A great place for a group of friends where some of you like sushi and some of you don't, you will definitely fine something delicious to satisfy everyone.

It's been awhile since I've been here, so I was surprised to see how much they had expanded into the neighboring space, and updated the decor. Very nice and open, with a nice-sized stage for live music. It wasn't very crowded when I went with a friend, but we heard that they had a happy hour from 4-6. We weren't sure about it, but were pleased that they indeed have half-priced rolls. Naturally, they're not going to be as big as a normal-priced roll, but there's still plenty to eat. The waitress was pretty distracted talking on the phone when she seated us, which was kind of ehh, but afterward she was very nice and pleasant. Only thing is that delicious cinnamon-ginger tea I raved about before now costs $3.50 (!!!!!) a mug, and it gets cold really fast. :( Only real downside. Either way, this is a pretty awesome place, and one of the few places that still have a happy hour. It's Mondays through Thursdays from 4-6pm. I have a feeling I'll be making more visits here, even though it's quite out of my way.

This place has delicious sushi. I will admit that I was more than a little shocked by the sushi because its in a dinky little strip mall on the corner of Abbott and Lake Otis. Plus, the name is a little corny. Don't be fooled! I Luv Sushi features some of the best sushi I've ever had anywhere. I give them even higher marks because I've gone at some random times and the quality has still been superb. The prices are a bit high, but mostly from my New England perspective. They are not out of line for Anchorage standards, and the quality and quantity more then measures up. If you like sushi, you'll love I Luv Sushi!

Hands down the best sushi experience in Alaska. The Chef-owner is inspired to create original recipes that you can't find at any other place in Alaska. This restaurant does not share the same, uninspired 15 year old menu with the rest of Alaska's Japanese restaurants. The night I went, I ordered omakase style where the chef picks all of your dishes and each dish impressed me more. We started with a local sauteed razor clams in a spicy butter with mushrooms which was just superb. The stir fry was executed with what Chinese chefs refer to as the "Breath of the Dragon;" on a very hot wok, very quickly leaving a very distinctive flavor which let the quality ingredients do all the talking. It was an amazing way to start. This was followed by many, many smaller plates of very high quality sashimi with various sauces, ranging from citrusy vinaigrettes to a robust balsamic vinegar dip to accompany grilled sablefish. One clever dish was the Rib-Eye sushi, which was thinly butterflied rib-eye steak grilled with a torch at the table topping sushi rice sprinkled with various peppers and spices. This was very good and a good alternative for those of you that don't like fish. The atmosphere was very comfortable and pleasant. It was a Friday when i was there and a lovely jazz trio was playing at just the right volume inside the restaurant on their small performance stage. It was the ideal accompaniment to a weekend dinner with drinks. If you were ready to give up on Alaska Japanese food like I was, don't! Take heart! Go hungry on Friday night and renew your faith in Japanese cuisine in Alaska.

Its a little pricy only go there for the happy hour and read the menu carefully. Its a place where they want your money and not necessarily for you to have a good time. But hey it is a business.

Great sushi place!! The remodel is fabulous and they always have classy live music! I usually have either the Hawaiian roll or the cherry blossom. So yummy! The servers are all very sweet and friendly. When you go, you should remember to tip the musicians if you like them- I really want them to keep coming back! :)

This place is great. I go here almost every Friday for lunch. Everyone is super friendly. They always have great lunch specials. When I sit at the bar I almost always get offered some bizarre sampling of whatever is fresh and new that day. There is great art, although I could do without the sappy eighties soft rock music. There is live music there too sometimes.

Food tasted great. Service wasn't really up to par. Can get a little pricy but then again so is all sushi. The place looks great and has a modern Japanese look. The food not only tastes good, but was displayed nicely.

i went to this place about a month ago. Had the Titanic Roll. very good. Had a live band playing that night. Atmosphere is great. There was just 2 other customers inside. Service was a little slow. The servers was in their own world. I had a 2nd trip back there last week. Service was faster this time. Had the I Luv Sushi Roll. Was good. Overall, this place is OK. Not busy so be a quick sushi date. Food wise, better then other sushi spots.
