Love this place! Great location for a stop off from going home after work downtown. Food is excellent along with quality and service. If you have any special needs or need to alter a dish I've had no problems getting what I want. They even made something for my mom off the menu. We have been here for sushi, special occasions, shabu shabu, bbq, and sukiyaki. I now that some people had problems with their groupon, but I've had no problems. I've gotten into the habit of reading exclusions and letting businesses know when I get there that I have one, and they can generally steer you in the right direction if you order something that is not covered. If you get the chance, get to know Brandon, the head chef and owner. He seriously goes out of his way to make you happy and want to return. They also have started delivery for lunch, and have a small happy hour menu that is great for friends, drinks, and appetizers. (Only the food is on the happy hour menu. Your friends and drinks are your own responsibility.)

They exclude items from their menu if you're using a Groupon, including RAW FISH items. They clearly think the Groupon users are not "real clients" - why participate in Grouping as a merchant if your plan is to screw the clients that are new to your business?

Good place to go eat if you're looking for a place that's not crowded. Good food & good service. One of the times I had gone here the chef had given us a free new entrée to try which I thought was pretty cool.

I Luv Sushi on Spenard Rd. is different from the first I Luv Sushi on Lake Otis Pkwy. because they are trying something new. I Luv Sushi 2 is the first restaurant in Anchorage to offer tables built for making Shabu Shabu (i.e., Japanese Hot Pot) and Korean BBQ (e.g., Kalbee Short Ribs & Pork Belly). I had the order of both Kalbee Short Ribs and Pork Belly with a group of five. The Kalbee Beef marinade was a bit too sweet, but the meat was nicely cut and cooked with ease. The pork belly was deliciously fatty. It was thinly sliced to allow it to be cooked for a shorter time, making it soft and juicy, or to cook it to a crispy delight, somewhere in between bacon and a pork chop. Keep in mind, the barbeque offered at I Luv Sushi 2 is Korean due to the marinade in the beef, the side dish of kimchi and the lettuce on the side meant to be used as a wrap for the meat. The sushi rolls are tasty and fresh, just like it is at the I Luv Sushi Lake Otis location. The Chicken Teriyaki Sliders are a nice special dish with teriyaki chicken, cucumber and lettuce placed in a sweet Hawaiian roll. The only thing missing to make it more Hawaiian may be pineapple. I Luv Sushi 2 is definitely a great place for Korean barbeque, to meet up with friends, carry on long conversations, and to enjoy cooking your dinner to your liking.

I got a $40 Groupon to this place and went to check it out. The Groupon requires you to make a reservation before you go, so I did. There seemed to only be a few open reservations, which led me to believe that the place was going to be packed. When we got there, there only were two more couples there, so the place was almost empty..something's wrong with their reservation system. We ordered a large sashimi dinner and a Rainbow roll (raw fish over California roll), as well as a large sake and hot tea. So we get the $65 bill, and the waitress tells us that she can only apply $19 from our $40 Groupon towards the bill. Her argument is that the raw fish items and alcohol are excluded from the Groupon promotion. Okay, I understand the alcohol part..but how does a sashimi dinner get considered raw fish and a raw fish roll doesn't?? Also, what kind of a promotion is it if raw fish is excluded at a sushi restaurant?? 80% of their menu is raw fish, that is the point of sushi! Anyway, so we ask the waitress if we can pay the bill in full and reschedule our Groupon, so we can come back and use it "properly" next time. We are told NO, once you made a reservation, you pretty much redeemed it whether you used it or not. So, we paid $24 for a Groupon that was worth $40 and that we could not use towards our bill fully or reschedule. The staff did not seem to be willing to accommodate us or offer any other options, so we paid the bill and left. With so many options in town, I doubt I will be coming back to this place.

I've become a bigger sushi fan in the past few years, but there are so many choices in Anchorage now- Most seem the same. I've been into I Luv Sushi on Lake Otis and loved it :) Especially for the music in the evenings- It's a special treat. What I love about the new I Luv Sushi 2 is the Shabu Shabu and Brandon's famous use of avacado and fruit. Everything was fresh and service great. A special love for the Chcken Teriyaki- Not to sweet like many of the other resturants in Anchorage!

Coming home late from work and did not want to cook one night, my husband and I decided to try this new place since it was close to home... And we are never getting food from there again. Not sure about the restaurant located in Lake Otis Pkwy but this place located in Spenard was not good at all. I'm a foodie fanatic and coming from New York City, I would say I know good sushi or not... =P This was a little while ago and I've been meaning to write a review but never got a chance but have the time now. I remembered ordering tempura udon for myself and a combo of different kinds of sushi for my husband, take-out style... Service was great. I remembered the waitress asked me if I wanted something to drink and offered me to try their thai ice tea drink, so I said yes. Thai ice tea was good but a little too sweet for me. Arrived home and dig into my dinner... I was sorely disappointed with my soup. Literally the soup tasted like soy sauce in water and it looked that way too. No particular flavor but the soy sauce flavor. I literally dipped my noodles and ate the noodles. The fried tempura (which usually consists of different veggies and potatoes) were okay. My husband stated his plate of sushi was not really good, something about the rice was too dry which should not be since it is suppose to be sticky rice. Not impressed with the food. To make it worse, the cost was pretty high. I am still going to try other sushi restaurants but until then I'm sticking to Samurai Sushi located in Muldoon as it is the best place by far I've been to. Sorry I Luv Sushi but I just don't love your sushi place. =P
