Sushi Dinner with family. Ordered 5 rolls. All of them were really good. Fast and friendly service for a busy Sunday night. Women's bathroom was disgusting... Needed to be clean.

I must be biased towards sushi or they all really have good food! I give almost all sushi places in ANC 4 stars. The food is always superb, the interior is always clean, nice and modern and the staff is usually great!! This place is no exception. Of course, like many restaus in ANC, the outside can be deceiving but it's had a nice atmosphere inside. We got a couple of rolls and they Gyoza app. It was all good and came out within 15 min. There are handful of bad sushi spots in town, they're all good, but I haven't found the ultimate best so far :)

The food was great.. But the service is bad. I go to the restaurants for the experience and unfortunately my experience in haru sushi..is not as great as other restaurants. The food took 45 mins before it arrived, I know they're busy and what not but they served my boyfriend's food 20 mins earlier than mine so he ended up asking the server to heat it back up cuz he doesn't want to eat it while I'm waiting for mine, so yeah. She heated the whole thing in the Microwave for 30 secs that made the coconut taste like grease because of the direct heat. And it also made the cherries hot, who freaking serves hot cherries for dinner?!.. Plus the server just keep jumping from one table to another, she didn't even asked us if we wanted DRINKS! Like seriously? -_- you think I cannot afford to buy myself a drink? And then my boyfriend was still talkin to the server then she just suddenly left, rude. Other than that..I like the food, the ambiance is great. How I just wish they have better servers you know. I wAs always curious about the place, and now I am not coming back ever.. 1.5 stars for the consideration of the good food..

I was scared to try this place based on other reviews. Well, I was glad I gave it a try. The server we had was really nice. I ordered a plum wine and I actually didn't like it. I told the server, and she took care of me and made it right for me. Went with a Blue Moon, can never go wrong with that. I ordered the avocado roll (I'm not a sushi fan), and I really liked it. It was filled with avocado! For dessert, we ordered the fried Oreo. Now, that was delicious.

I'm going to be very honest. I got food poisoning from here. The first time I was here, the food was good and I had no problems what so ever. My second time here which will be my last time, We didn't get good service. Our sever seem in a rush but there was only two customers in the restaurant at the time. My sushi dish was one of the chefs specialities. It looked and sounds delicious on the menu but It made me very sick within a few hours of consuming it. I could go into details but it would just be disturbing. Overall, beware what you eat here!

Pretty decent joint. It's a Korean ran sushi spot so you'll find a few Korean items on the menu such at kalbi and kimchi. I tried the nabe udon here over the weekend. Pretty good! Came with quite a bit of seafood and an egg. The broth was taste and the noodles were cooked just right. I also tried the jalapeno poppers appetizer. The flavors in it was amazing. But then again, it might be because i'm a fan of spicy mayo and it was dressed in hella spicy mayo. Service was friendly and quick. The waitress was really attentive and made sure we were taken care of. I'll definitely have to come back to try their sushi next time!

Great customer service, super busy place. Love their green tea and appetizers. Sushi rolls and eel made at perfection.

This was my first time here. I have never eaten Japanese food, but the rest of my party wanted to have sushi and I was assured there were cooked items on the menu. I am so glad we made this choice. The restaurant was beautiful and clean and the dishes I tried were delicious! I have expanded my food horizons!!

Average sushi at best, a little over-priced for what you're getting, if I'm being honest. Also, there was someone cleaning the floors with a mini vac while we patrons were eating. It's like if we were to play monopoly on the floor and someone was coming by and picking up pieces from the board and putting them back in the box. Not quite the same thing, but you catch my drift. Overall, a little disappointed, given the fact that the commercial and people around me hyped it up. Also, the waitress discouraged us from particular item because we wouldn't like how oily it was (It's raw fish. Come on.) Turns out they didn't even have it available. As to why they didn't just flat out say that from the beginning, I have no idea. On the plus side, there was a good fish to rice ratio for the sushi.

The SPICY CRUNCH was deliciousness!! Not a bad place. The waiter girl was a little rude and felt pushy, but all old Koreans are. All in all not a bad place atmosphere is elegant and beautiful. I will be going back for the spicy crunch!

My husband and I ate here because we were meeting some friends who live locally and recommended the place. The atmosphere was nice but the service was decent at best. The woman serving us kept making comments with tone like "we'll you ordered a lot of rolls" after asking which was which and the table was bussed while we were still sitting there. While I thought what I ordered to share WAS good ( Pink lady and a Crazy-Boy) my husband ordered tenpura roll and BY RECOMMENDATION the Alaska role (since he doesn't do anything raw) which by the way was ALL one texture and by THAT I mean the consistency of warm cream cheese because we all split (which meant we had 1 piece and we're grossed out by it and still had slightly upset stomachs). And he ate most of it although not pleased... and got food poisoning and has been ill for the last three days. And while my husband is to kind to say DON'T go there, please be warned as WE will not be returning. We have never been sick after sushi before and we do sushi nights quite often.

Looks like it wouldn't be great from the outside but it was pretty good. Fast service, food was good and nice on the inside. You have to tried the Oreos for dessert lol

We are new to Anchorage, and this restaurant came by recommendation. We were happy to find a clean, quiet atmosphere. We sat at the bar, and the sushi chef spent time talking to us and making recommendations. The food was excellent, the service was timely, and we enjoyed our lunch there!

Although the food was very good the service was terrible. The waitress was rushing and rude, bringing the check before be were even halfway through with the meal. Never once checked on us to see if the food was ok or if we needed anything. And when we complained, they did not speak English. There was only two other full tables in the restaurant and now I understand why.

Got food poisoning here on April 14, 2014 and the 'manager' I spoke with was super rude when I called to inform them their food made sick. This was my favorite sushi spot in town and won't be going back. Really lame!

I've been to Haru Sushi twice so far. Anchorage has not impressed me with the sushi restaurant selections. I've been to 5 other highly recommended places and this place is leagues above the rest. Clean, nice decor, fast attentive service, and outstanding food. Every time I've put something in my mouth there, I've been surprised and delighted. They have unique and inventive rolls with fresh ingredients and flavors that work fantastically together. Oh, now I'm hungry again!

Second favorite sushi restaurant in Anchorage. Fantastic atmosphere, creative rolls, and friendly staff. Haru is a great place for a date or a simple night out when you don't want to cook dinner.

2* for food which was nothing great. Other than that, screw this place and everything else about it. Owner is rude, waitress is rude and annoying, the cute chick gave us weird looks (maybe it's cause she liked me hehe)... check this, owner straight tossed my card at me, then the pen... really? must be having a bad day cause there was no one in the restaurant. Just wanted a nice peaceful dinner on mother's day. $120 bill for 3 adults...with no alcohol! Wonder what justifies their prices... The dish wanna be look?

Don't know why this place has such bad ratings but this place was decent. Couldn't get into the infamous "Dish" as the locals enjoyed going to. My first time in one of the coldest states of the U.S. After landing late at night I find myself in this random corner of Anchorage, staring idle at the window and into the dark winter scenery from a Korean owned sushi bar. A lady approached my companion and I and we got: -1 order of the Spicy Jalapeno roll concoction -1 order of the Sushi Option B: $30.00 of the finest cuts of fish Alaska's seafood inventory had to offer: Geoduck, Hamachi, Fatty salmon and Yellowtail (along with their slimmer counterparts), Tuna (no blue fin toro unfortunately), Albacore, Crab, Shrimp, and Tamago. With your choice of one roll (my personal classic, the philly roll). The Jalapeno roll was crunchy in tempura texture, and the bits of jalapenos stuck inside the roll gave it a nice kick. Whereas my option B, had all fresh cuts. My personal favorite was the Geoduck (didn't like Angotei's overpriced version), Toro versions of Yellowtail and Salmon of course and the regular Tuna. $50.00 plus tax and tip, with decent customer service made it a pleasant experience. The lack of a perfect score was due to the priciness of the meals (Sushi Boat C: Can go up to $200.00 plus) on top of that I wasn't able to try their Omakase. So I can't really gauge the chef's skill in serving sushi properly. After all is said and done this same night I realize, even the Asians here can pass for an eskimo. Welcome to Alaska.

I went there this past Friday with the girls and it wasn't too bad. I halfed the crunch roll and volcano roll with my cousin. She had teriyaki chicken and tempura also. Our other girlfriends had appetizers and we all had wine. The presentations were nice but what is an ultimate turn-off for me when it comes to sushi is grabbing a piece of sushi with your chopsticks and having it crumble to pieces immediately. The food tasted good with the exception of them really piling on the sauces. I still prefer Dami. Sorry! It was clean and not busy whatsoever. Would I go back? Maybe. Doubt it. I might give them another try....big maybe....

Had a late afternoon snack today at Haru Sushi. Even before we opened the door, the waitress was greeting us and whisking us off to a booth. She talked very quickly, had us seated and off before we could even blink. It was my husband's second time ever eating sushi, so I was hoping for a good experience. The atmosphere was good, even though it's tough to shake the Pizza Hut vibe. The waitress came back very quickly, took our drink orders and rushed off again The tea I ordered just came in a plain mug--I'm a bit of a tea snob and would've preferred the traditional tea service. Each time she came back she asked "are you ready to order?" We were taking our time since I wanted to find something the husband would really love. Finally, we decided to order the mixed tempura as an appetizer and the White Bear roll to split. A short time later, the tempura and roll were brought out at the same time. Again, it was a little annoying, but forgivable. Both the tempura and roll were very tasty! Unfortunately, we've decided that hubby doesn't like the taste of seaweed, so will have to order the soy paper next time. Not a bad experience. We felt a little rushed, but would otherwise give the place a second try.

We've gone here several times since they opened and every time is worse then the last. The younger waitresses are rude and slow. Food is not consistent. We've recently found that we have food allergies in our family and they blatantly lied when they told us a sauce was safe. I assumed they would have asked the chef, as I did as I walked out, only to find out the waitress was dishonest. They don't care about the customer here and we won't be back. There are so many other better places in town.

Not a huge sushi fan so I avoided the place. On a whim I went in on a rare sushi craving...to my surprise all the workers were KOREAN and to my further delight, as Korean is my absolute favorite kind of food, they had KOREAN items on the menu. So far I have had the KalBi and the BulGoGi and it has been excellent.

Haru is hands-down our favorite restaurant in Anchorage. I don't know why there are so many bad reviews. Their specialty rolls are out of this world. Try the Haru Haru- unreal. We usually order a "chef special" crunchy and each time its different and blows us away. If you are coming here to order a California roll- you are going to be missing out. We've never felt rushed and the staff has always been great. Have been to many sushi places in Anchorage- including the "Dish" and refuse to go anywhere else. Yes, it is in an old Pizza Hut building but the inside is entirely remodeled and nice. We have to move out of state this next summer and this is the one restaurant we are sad to leave as we don't think we'll be able to find another one like it where we're moving.

This was my first time at Haru Sushi - my friend and I were planning on going to Kansha but all their tables were food and this was the next sushi place. After eating there, I realized waiting a few minutes for a table to open up at Kansha would have been the better choice, I was very excited to find out that when I ordered my "Pizza" sushi roll, that it included soup and salad. The salad was a little small but the dressing was good. Miso soup taste like miso soup. My roll arrived in a timely manner; unfortunately, it was not what I ordered, and everything went downhill from there. It took a while for my roll to be remade. By that time, my friend was halfway through her roll, while continuous conversation with me. My "Pizza" roll arrived - it was tasteless and mushy but I ate it anyway because I was hungry, but not hungry enough to eat the mushy crabmix meat in the middle of my roll. The cooked salmon that was on top of my roll didn't taste very fresh. It came with sauce but there wasn't enough flavor so I had to dip my roll in soy sauce. The service here is mediocre - I would prefer, "How was everything? Is there anything else I can get you?" instead of "Anything else?" and handing us the check before I am even half way through my roll. For $14.95, I could have better spent that money somewhere else...

I'm really surprised at the amount of negative reviews for this place because I have been there over 10 times and have never ever had a problem with food OR service there. Even when they're really busy they have always made sure we were taken care of. They are always over-apologetic when they're slammed. The rolls always come out in a timely manner and are always fresh and delicious. The waitresses are always attentive and quick. The owner is very friendly and always has a smile and a kind word as you enter or leave. The guys at the bar know what they're doing and are both friendly and fun to watch. We have made this our go-to place when we're in the mood for sushi. We always have a great time!

This friendly and welcoming Sushi bar sets the standard for any family-run small business. I felt like I was welcomed into their home. The sushi is amazing! Very fresh, beautiful presentation. I couldn't wait to eat it! The dining room sparkles and the bar is a gleaming smorgasboard of sushi goodness. The whole place felt comfortable and most of all, clean! Come try this restaurant; it may become a favorite of yours, too!

Very decent sushi joint. Menu was long but not too cumbersome and the dishes that came out were good. Sake served by the bottle was good and the waitress was very kind. Nothing crazy impressive but nothing to avoid going here.
