When I moved to Anchorage, I went to all of the Mexican places I could find. After trying several options, I have to say that I will never change Haciendas for anything. The food tastes super good and the staff is very nice and friendly. The strawberry margaritas are on point and the chicken fajitas are amazing. I am very picky with food, but everytime I asked for a specific, they will do it without hesitating. Visit it! You will love it.

Great food, even my picky kids liked it. Service was great...glass of tea never got below half!

Yummy Margaritas!! I had two of the Cadillac margaritas and it gave me a pretty good buzz. Chips & salsa are complimentary which is pretty standard, but awesome! It comes with three types of salsa: mild, medium and hot. I didn't partake in ordering any food since I was only really there for margaritas for cinco de mayo. But the food portions looked ginormous. The plates were served piping hot like it was baked in the oven with the food. We came in at about 940pm and they closed at 10pm. But at 1015pm, we asked the bartender if we could order another drink and she was kind enough to allow us to! :) Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely be back again!

Food was meh, service was very good. Flavor was good (but not spicy) on 1/2 of the items ordered other 1/2 had nothing notable and I would not order them again. Small place but has a charms and good drinks.

I'm amazed they have they're own special crafted "doble reposado" tequila from heradura! Not many places can say that..and let me tell u something, the tequila is sooooo smooth and crisp! No need for lemon or salt after the shot, plus the margaritas are awesome. The service was great and the food was really good,as authentic you can get in anchorage!

The staff is friendly and the food arrives fast and full of flavors. There are free chips and salsa with every meal and they keep them coming. I am usually very impressed by how fast the food comes out. Don't expect too long a wait unless it's Cinco de Mayo.

Never returning. The horrendous food here is surpassed only by the horrendous customer service. We had a gift certificate to this place, which we presented to our waitress when we showed up. Our waitress, who was very nice, informed us that there might be conditions to the certificate. We said that would be fine, as long as she would let us know what those conditions were. She went to the back and a few minutes later, the owner appeared. Without any prelude he accused us of erasing certain conditions on the certificate. We calmly explained that we presented the certificate as it was given to us, and had neither the time nor energy to do such a petty thing. Further, we were happy to oblige by whatever conditions applied. At that point he did explain the conditions to us. He did not apologize for being so accusatory for no reason, and said only "you can use the certificate now or later" before brusquely walking away. When the food came, it was clearly microwaved. Plus it was not real Mexican food, but we've given up on finding quality ethnic food in Alaska. This place is crazy overpriced. We tipped the waitress well, but we do not intend to give a single cent to the owner ever again. Shame on him for his disgusting behavior.

Worst service ever! I do not recommend this establishment at all, the server never came back after he gave us our food and drinks, I recommend el rodeo for any place on this side of town! I also had an Alaskan iced tea, did the job but I think it wasn't made right!

Moving here from San Antonio I had high expectations for good Mexican food, while this was no San Antonio Mexican cuisine it sure wasn't bad. The salsa was great and the chips were fresh. Had the steak tacos and the flavor was great. Had a local hefe to wash it all down with. My only complaint was that it was kinda pricey. One plate and 1 beer cost me over $20. The bartender who served me was a pleasure to deal with. I'd recommend.

Pros: great mango margaritas, friendly and fast service (especially when the owner is around,) food is decent, food comes out really quick Cons: food comes out really quick so you know they just microwave it and give it to you, salsa is only ok, place is really small so you'll get to hear everyone's conversations around you especially if you are sitting next to loud, rude people. I've even had a dude butt into my conversation... I don't recommend their beans, just get extra rice which is pretty dang good. Don't have super high expectations of the food or you'll be disappointed!

After nearly a week up in Anchorage recently, I started having those Mexican food cravings that I get whenever I deprive myself of the most delicious food (after Italian) in the whole world. So while on a quick tour, I asked the driver if he could stop while I ran into Hacienda and ordered something to go. The bribe of a free burrito proved most effective in acquiring a YES answer. I was not disappointed in Hacienda. This location is the first of three locations proudly owned and operated locally for over 20 years by the Gallo family. With a good selection of the traditional Mexican cuisine favorites, I noticed a bar full of many selections of Mexican beers and tequila. I only wish I could have grabbed a margarita to go! Impressed by the table side Guacamole: it is made fresh at your table with 100% Hass avocados, serrano peppers, tomatoes, cilantro, onions, etc., then served with warm tortilla chips. Yummy! To make it easy to eat back at the hotel, I ordered a Grande Quesadilla to go. This is a most delicious tortilla stuffed with your choice of meat, vegetables and a special sauce. Served with sour cream, pico de gallo and that table side guacamole. I wanted to keep it basic so I ordered the carne asada beef with cheese and it was so tasty! I also took some tortilla chips to go for even great authenticity in dining. My south of the border cravings began to subside almost immediately. Hacienda offers an Americana choice with the usual burger and fries and this being Alaska, yes, there is SALMON on the menu. Alaskans and other visitors should try the wonderful Hacienda as it is a great addition to the local dining scene and a life-saver for this southern Californian going into Mexi food withdrawal up in the Great North!

Best margaritas in town. Make sure you order the Cadillacs and have a DD! Great service. Happy smiles and friendly faces. They Almost always have a coupon for a free meal on a Fred Meyer or Carrs receipt. Food: normal Americanized Mexican with a lot of cheese, usually excellent rice and beans. The spicy shrimp dish is fabulous! The appetizers are meal-sized. The remodeled chairs are less than 6 months old and already pulling apart -- which sucks.

We have eaten at the Hacienda and had their take out many times. It has always been good. We ordered take out tonight and threw most of it out. If there is new help in the kitchen help is needed there.

Disgusting food and poor excuse for margaritas. Hope you like mix drinks that are just syrup. Over prices for poor service.

Best enchiladas I've had so far. Since that's the only thing I order I can't say how the rest of the food is, though my daughter loves the chicken nuggets lol The place is rather small and has no waiting area so if your there on a busy night it might be tough. I did have a mango margarita and it was quite scrumptious.

I've been going here for 10+ years with my handicapped sister and we've never before had a single issue, until yesterday! My latest experience teaches me it only takes one bad experience to wipe out all the good. When I asked for a new plate because there were onions stuck to bottom of my beef and my cheese enchiladas, stuck to side of plate and in total 6 pieces of onion the size of a thumb nail were just hanging out on my plate. The waitress told me they changed cooks. Since none of my food was supposed to come with onions, though the rice might have had them I don't know, i just wanted replacement enchiladas, no refund no fuss, just a clean plate. But oh no!! I was told by very rude manager that "No, onions come with all food, we cook all food in onions this food always have and I not have any food I don't want onions." He then told me I could leave, no more food for me! The waitress then brought me the bill with my coupon back and charged me full price for the meal. I told her to keep it because we wouldn't be back. So much for that place. Messy Cook or dirty kitchen who knows but with a manager like that I'll be eating elsewhere from now on!!

This place is a real shame. Nothing here is actually Mexican food. Lets look at some of the facts instead of just some guy's opinion: 1. Your food is going to come out in 3 minutes of ordering, meaning nothing has been cooked to order and has been sitting in a freezer for probably 2-3 days. 2. Everyone is impressed with there 2 for 1 deals that are constantly running. This is because they charge $12-$14 a plate for what cost them $2-4. I'm all for mom and pop making a profit but this is run like a bait and switch scheme. 3. The beans. This might be more personal opinion but, they are beyond bad. The first time I thought, "okay, you added some water cause you didn't want to make a new batch." After the second time I went I was blown away to see that everyone had the same mush I had the first time I was there. See past the gimmick and deals to what poor quality food this is.

Typical American-style Mexican restaurant. Consistent quality and predictable menu. Good value and reasonable service. In the winter the seating by the windows can be unpleasantly cold. Nice neighborhood restaurant that I'll keep coming back to.

Quick advice before heading to Hacienda- stop by the Muldoon Fred Meyers or the Carrs on the corner of Debarr and Boniface to get the 2 for 1 coupon on the back of your receipt! The chips are warm, salsa is awesome, and food is fast. I love their tamales and enchiladas. If you go during the dinner rush you may end up awkwardly waiting in the middle of the restaurant for a table to open. It is worth it. Service is extremely friendly.

Hacienda is owned by the same folks that own LaCabana. This one is in a strip mall on Northern Lights almost to Muldoon. I came upon it by accident when my friend and I found Hula Hands Mtn. View location to be closed now (!!! That sucked!! I wanted a choice!) in favor of the Fireweed location. Anyways, not wanting to back track to downtown we spotted Hacienda. I had wanted to try it but didn't know where it was and it was out of the way for those of us that work downtown. As it turns out, it was way, way less crowded than La Cabana - even smack dab in the middle of a Friday lunch hour - but the menu and service were all outstanding just like La Cabana and Hacienda Wasilla. Great warm, crunchy chips, well prepared food, (not just slopped onto your plate and covered in cheese) and decent wait staff. Put this on your list of places to go when you want a good place to eat without the crowd and you don't mind driving a little (unless you live in Muldoon, in which case, it's close by).

Had a solid meal at Hacienda tonight. Really recommend the taquitos if you like fried mexican. After a long hike, it hit the spot. These guys have a two-for-one coupon in the Northern Lights coupon book which made it all even more enjoyable. Real sweet staff and feels like a locals place since everyone was hugging the staff and visiting other tables. Definetly a return visit is in order when I have a Mexican fix on.

We like this place. :) It's got a really BIG menu - lots of choices! It's not very big, so on weekends / rush times get there early! The margaritas are amazing - you absolutely get your money's worth, and they've got a huge tequila selection [always amazing]. The service is good too... and they're down the street, so we can walk if we want to do shots!

I live right down the street and go there every time I have a feeling for good Mexican food. The service is nice once you get seated, which is quickly. The food is quite tasty and their tequila selection is impressive. Great place to eat for lunch or dinner.

UNSANITARY! I always wondered if they re-used the chips from other tables. One time i picked up a chip that looked like there was salsa on top- it was a little red. I just read a review from a past employee who confirms that they DO reuse chips and how unsanitary the kitchen is. Now I feel sick, cause I've eaten there a lot. I stopped going because I ordered tacos with chicken- I don't eat beef or pork. When the plate came to me, right away I noticed that there was beef in them, so I sent them back. When it came back I ate one, but I thought it tasted funny. I looked in them and inside the tortilla there was still beef on it. When I sent it back, all they did was scrape off the beef and then put chicken and re-used all the samed veggies! All the beef peices were mixed in and the tortilla was soaked if beef juice! Why couldn't they just have used new tortillas? It was their mistake! Then when I brought it up to the waitress, she didn't apologize, I didn't want a new plate, I was grossed out. Just didn't want to be charged. The manager didn't even see anything wrong with this, like this wasn't a big deal or as if it was common practice to re-use food! I will never eat there again!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
