Stopped in this afternoon for a late lunch. Service was great, food was fresh and yummy, and prices were A-OK! A gem on the Southside--definitely recommend!

This Thai Food restaurant is the best I have been to anywhere. The chicken in the dishes is wonderful - the owner uses fresh chicken breasts. The seasoning is intricate and authentic. The service is impeccable and friendly. I have NEVER had bad service here and I eat here often. You get what you pay for and the food is delicious! The coconut curry shrimp is fantastic, as is the Chicken Cashew Nut, and fresh Spring Rolls! The decor is beautiful and the restaurant and bathroom ( I think this is an indicator of the care of a place) is always immaculate.

The food was incredibly good and there were plenty of choices which means something for everyone. I feel like it is a great place to have a business lunch with a co-worker or two. The decor is nice and I like the use of mirrors to make the small area seem way bigger. I was somewhat disappointed in the service though. It was busy, but not really full and it took close to 15 minutes before the waitress finally came and helped me, however, after that they visited my table about the perfect amount. The food also came out fast and was well prepared. It is definitely on my short list for lunch while I am home in Anchorage.

If you like Thai food, this is hands down the best place in town, just edging out Thai Orchid because it is easier to get to. Unlike most other thai places in town, when you ask for spicy, they give you *spicy*, so make sure you know what you're in for. Taste of Thai also uses authentic spices, which may taste odd if you're used to the normally bland offerings of other restaurants, so be sure you're a fan of authentic thai food and not the watered down Americanized fare. The noodles are huge and firm without being chewy, and portions are generous so you don't have to worry about going home hungry. The staff is friendly, and again, unlike some other places, they both remember and reward repeat customers. By my third visit, the waitress had my order rung up before I even reached the register. As others have stated, the dining room is nicely decorated, and the big windows give the place a warm and open feel, especially in the summer. My personal favorites are the spicy chicken noodle, and the sate chicken, but I've never heard anyone complain about any of the dishes there. The Pad Thai is excellent as well, and is a good dish from which to judge their offerings by.

Yum! 1st time here...came for lunch...quick, friendly service; delicious food (check out the specials with soup & an egg roll!); coolest atmosphere of any Thai place in town. Will definitely return.

Wow, that was salty and peppery! My partner thought it left the kind of aftertaste that you might have after a frozen pizza. I cried a little after accidentally eating an enormous piece of pepper (in contrast with Lahn Pad Thai, which has entire peppers, visibly, so that you can skip or eat them whole). And I *like* spicy food -- we make Indian food and some Thai dishes at home. As others have noted, the place has a very classy decor that a friend of mine says reminds him of a Thai restaurant in Bangkok. This is why I am giving it two stars instead of one. But, unfortunately, it's not the kind of feature that can really redeem the iffy food we had... I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt, though, and note that the other reviewers had a positive experience with curries here. Maybe we both had the wrong dishes? Or maybe most Americans like salty food and the restaurant caters to that taste?

12.95 for a water glass (20 oz) portion of soup? That says it all. To be fair when I got the order home and called to complain, offered to take it back and refund, but I think you get the point. It's not Manhattan, and it's not THAT good.

After deciding against a nearby place last minute, my wife, myself, and some friends saw Taste of Thai and decided to give it a try, despite having had Thai food just the night before. We were quite happy we did. While not the best Thai good I've had, it's a very close second. Most other Thai places we try out we'll order 3-4 entrees. I'm happy if I find one I like. In this case, I loved all 4. If I had a complaint it would have been the prices are on the high side, and the people at adjoining tables happened to be loud and annoying (not that the restaurant could do anything about that). My wife and I will gladly return again soon.

Very nice Thai restaurant. I love the way this place was decorated. They used complementary earth tones to present a very relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. The food is traditional Thai. They have a good selection of menu items and about eight Curry dishes. I love Curry so I always gravitate towards those dishes and rate a Thai restaurant accordingly. The Pad Thai noodles were also very good. It's a bit hard to find since you can't see the store front from the street. If you stand in the east parking lot of the carwash you should see it. I give it a solid three stars bordering on four.

Ate here by myself. My glass of wine came quickly, but my food took just under an hour - after 1/2 hour someone stopped by to tell me it was "almost ready." Meanwhile dozens of people came in to pick up their "to go" orders. When my food was finally delivered, there were no apologies and no acknowledgement that I had waited an hour. My chicken was hard and dry, noodles flavorless. I will never eat here again.

Wanted to try this place since it opened and was finally able to go for lunch. Walking in the decor was really great and I was nervous about having my 4 year old daughter and 11 month old niece eating there when I saw how nice it was but the hostess immediately made us feel welcomed and had us sitting at a table with Thai ice Tea with in minutes. We order Pad Thai and Sidewalk noodles. Both where amazing and flavorful. The kids even devoured all there food! I can't wait to take my husband on a date night there for dinner. If you like Thai food this is the place to go!

I went in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. There were only two other tables taken, and I was seated quickly. The atmosphere was right on, and the granite-topped tables were nice. Service was good, and my server was dressed in Thai attire. I liked that. They have two pages of $10.95 lunch specials, and I ordered the Thai Pork Stew. It came with a cup of soup that I couldn't identify. It seemed like egg drop soup with the addition of some veggies, and macaroni of all things. All good though. Lunch came on a three compartment plate, and it was well presented. Jasmine rice, steamed broccoli, and an egg roll accompanied my stew. I asked for "hot" when I ordered. My server asked "on a scale of 1-5"? I said "5" and it was the right call. Nice and spicy, and very delicious! One odd thing I noticed was that there were no condiments on the table. I had to ask for soy sauce, and I would have asked for some chili sauce, but my food was hot enough. There weren't even salt & pepper shakers. No big deal, but not what I'm used to. This is the reason why I knocked them down a star. I noticed some delicious-looking dinner offerings that I'll be back for: Thai sweet and sour halibut, and a duck dish that sounded excellent!

Good Thai, good service, and nice decor which may explain the prices. We've done dine in and take out with food quality what you expect but they are priced for the South Anchorage crowd who don't want to drive to Midtown.

The foods are ok, my favorite dish here is papaya salad. I haven't been there for a few year, would love to go back there...

Delicious Thai food found! I ordered the lunch special pumpkin curry with soft white tofu. It was delicious! The curry was nicely spiced and creamy. The curry portion was a bit small compared to my friend's stir fried dish though. I also thought the curry could be more spicy, but then again, I was never asked for spiciness level. I like my Thai food Thai spicy, as in very, very spicy - mouth on fire. I loved the decor inside the restaurant. Very well decorated. The art on the wall and around the restaurant was reminiscent of Thailand. Gold tones, jeweled pieces and exotic statues. I also liked how the waitress/hostess wore traditional Thai clothing. She looked beautiful and her outfit was very fitting for the atmosphere in the restaurant. Price: $11 for most items on lunch special menu. A couple dollars more than I'm used to for a lunch combo, but I thought the flavors were good. I would definitely come again, either to dine-in or take-out.

This was a wonderful discovery. A friend took me to this restaurant for lunch. The Garlic chicken was very flavorful and plenty for lunch. Then I took my husband there for an evening meal. We started off with spring rolls, both fresh and friend. They were delicious. I had shrimp curry and my husband had the pineapple curry special. Both exceeded our expectations. The atmosphere is very nice and the place is nicely decorated. I really appreciated the cleanliness and the service. We will be visiting again.

Excellent service, atmosphere, food and prices. My favorite is hmm....Duck Curry? lol Terrible memory. But I know it when I see it on the menu. It has duck! :) Thank you,Taste of Thai! Merry Christmas 2014!!! God bless! :D

The food was very delicious, however, the pricing left a sour taste in our mouth. Main dish portions were sizable, not really enough to order family style, but the amount of rice for said portions were too small and when offered more rice, we were charged an additional $3 for another small bowl. I'll be sticking to my normal go to spots for Thai.

I've ordered from here to go a couple times recently. It can make an easy dinner when I need a night off and everyone seems to love Thai food. Both times that I went, service was pleasant. The food took a bit of time to go out, which was only an extensive wait once. When I got the food home, there is always sauce all over the place. They may want to think about different containers. The food was good but didn't seem as good as normal, and the portions were very small. When I'm laying down about $100 on dinner, I expect that I can feed four adults family style. The only thing plentiful was the rice. My family has demanded that this restaurant be put on the no list! Hopefully if I ever talk anyone into going again, things have changed. Till then it's 2 stars and the no list. There are too many Thai restaurants in town to put up with wasting my money.

Stopped here for lunch on a Saturday, seated quick, placed order, took at least 10 minutes to get drinks, soup that came with lunch special was very black peppery. Entrees took at least 20 minutes and arrived luke warm, waited at least 30 minutes for check after done eating, wanted a box but finally just headed to front to try to pay, seemed to only be one person working and lots of to go orders rolling out at the detriment of dine in customers

We go to this place quite a bit. Consistently good food and friendly service! Also great place for takeout.

Good service. I ordered pineapple fried rice and was served rice with raisins, which was a huge turn off in visual appeal and NOT what I ordered. The server offered to replace the entree, but I declined. She ended up bringing me a small bowl of pineapple chunks! I can't bring myself to eat there again.

The fried rice and green curry are awesome. The pad thai is nothing special but I normally get the curry and am beyond pleased

Small portions and high prices. 16oz soup for 14.95 is unreasonable. Dine elsewhere.

Take out Fried Rice is awesome. The ladies are so nice. The extended holiday closure has pissed me off for the last month and a half. I am still leaving 5 stars but enough with the closure already......

Dinner at 8 pm - nice wall decorations and friendly smiling staff. Ordered fried tofu, chicken satay, pad Thai (veg/tofu) and plain rice. Food arrived quickly but was bland. Asked for chili sauce, which was watery, and chili flakes to make the food taste better. Surprisingly was charged $1 for the watered down chili sauce and $2 for the fried tofu in the pad Thai. Meh.
