One word: Horrific Ordered the Berkshire Pork, at the waiters suggestion, only to be served a raw piece of meat with bland undercooked carrots and some large slabs of bacon. I promptly requested the pork to be recooked. When it returned, the edges were burned and flavorless and the inside was still raw. Go figure. My wife ordered the "organic" chicken parm, however, it looked like it came from the freezer section of Walmart. The breading was thicker than the chicken and fell off while cutting. The sauce, slab of mozzerella, and spritz of broccoli raab were not sufficient to save the dish. Yup, never again. The name change to "Pasta's" doesn't save anything. At least the wine was good (Dr Loosen).

This was one of the worst meals of my life. We ordered the duck Flatbread that had no duck and we got the calamari that was one massive fried ball of chewy calamari. Our entrees came before the salads and 3 of the 4 entrees were inedible; the veal and chicken were obviously just microwaved and the pasta was way overcooked and covered in a tasteless gloopy sauce. The "panchetta" is just deli ham and the veal was so tough you couldn't cut it. The server and ambiance were nice, but it doesn't make up for the dishes they serve. Definitely wouldn't recommend.

We came in with a large party on a Saturday night.. The maître-d and service staff were great. However, the food was awful. It was poor quality, poorly prepared, overpriced, and one of our guests came down with food poisoning a couple hours after we ate. Portions were quite small. Risotto was gummy, pasta, while "imported from Italy" was overly starchy and poorly cooked. We appreciated the accommodations made for our large party, but cannot recommend Pastas for any meal at Snowshoe.

Anita's offers uninspired, sub-Olive Garden "Italian" food. I get that it's on a ski resort, and it's allowed to be a little worse and a little more expensive than average, but it's just bad. I had a chicken pesto dish, and my wife had primavera. They were slightly better than frozen dinners--very bland and pasty, with over cooked pasta and obviously frozen vegetables. Service was abysmally slow even with a half-full dining room. We finally received bread after an hour of waiting, and it came right after entrees. Anita's has a captive set of customers, and I'm convinced that's the only reason they are still in business. Avoid.

Awesome place. Dinner buffet was 17$. It was great. Lobster, steak, salad, dessert. You name it. Less than 10 min wait for a party of 8.

Worst experience ever. Location is poor ( basement of mountain lodge) right outside of main village. Only took reservations the night we waited 30 minutes for them to open. Mind you, everyone said this was busiest time of year and staffing should have been prepared. Therefore, we had to tell our 5 kids the bad news... No pasta for them tonight. There was not one seated table in this large restaurant, but they refused to seat us because we didn't have reservations. When we explained that it was not clear that reservations were needed, she said " oh we don't require reservations, except for a few ( random) days". We asked if we could be seated if reservations didn't show up and her concern was overburdening her wait staff !!! Can you believe that?! No customers yet, but worried about overburdening. I don't usually write reviews but this experience was so not what customer service is, I had to rate. I'd rather wait for the wait staff and eat than be turned away and not eat ( which put us on a wait at next restaurant).

This place was hard to find at night since the lifts were close (and we had directions). You can see the door and sign from the lifts but not on the other side in the village. Once arrived sat promptly. Nice ambiance, a bit dark but great for deflating after a long day of skiing. Our waiter, Yager, was good and knowledgable. The food was great. My husband had the Linguini Con Vongole and I had the pasta with the pork and beef ragout (I think it was tagliatelle [sp.]). Food was excellent. Where we were thrown off completely is when the manager came over to chat with us and started discussing dishes when we were still deciding and told us that Risotto came over a bed of RICE! :l He thought the Risotto was a pasta because it was listed in the pasta section. Someone needs to go back to restaurant management school. The rest of the conversation proved he didn't know much about food. I have NO clue how he landed the manager position!! Scary!

Can't rate the food or service because it was "Closed for the Season." Um, the ski season is not only still going on, it's going strong! We were dropped off by a shuttle during a blizzard, managed to find the Mountain Lodge and went downstairs only to be greeted by a sign near the door saying they were closed for the season, adding, "See you next year!" I think not.

HORRIBLE- Sadly, I cannot comment on the food because after 90min we were never served. We had a 6:15 reservation, we were seated immediately, but by 7:45 still had not been served an ounce of food. No soup, No salads, NO entrees- NO FOOD!!! And they were not that busy. The Manager- Dustin and table service were HORRIBLE. We waited 30 min for a bottle of wine that was brought to our table ALREADY OPENED. We were dining with children and they ordered buttered noodles. 2 tables around us that were seated 30min after us received pasta entrees before us!! Everything we tried to order off the menu, they were OUT OF. 3 diff bottles of wine we selected- OUT OF. Oh, out of all Marsala dishes too. OUT of unsweetened tea? OUT of everything we tried to order- and the server just starred blank at us, not trying to offer us solutions of what they DID HAVE to offer. I ordered a side of Broccoli Rabe listed on the menu- The server replied " you want your broccoli RAW mama?" It was a nightmare to say the least. The Manager offered us PORT wine after 90 min of no food to help?? Port wasn't going to help our starving, restless children. Nor were the adults interested in PORT before the meal. The menu did look good, but the manager and service there ruined the evening. We ended up walking out and eating cereal and eggs for dinner at 8pm in our rooms. Perhaps we will give Pasta's a try next year- in hopes that they have better management and better servers.

By far the best food on the mountain. Can be difficult to find but the food, atmosphere and service was amazing. We spent 4 days at the resort and we ate at Auntie Pasta's 3 of the 4 nights. It was that good! I tried a different appetizer and entree every night, as well as the six other people in our party. Every single person had the same opinion of the restaurant, which is why we went so many times. The bread was very tasty and the olive tapenade was good. For appetizers I had the Calamari, Insalat Misti and the Insalata Caprese. The calamari was really good. Not the best I've ever had but quite good. The marinara with it was a nice amount of spicy. The Insalata Misti (a sliced cold cut appetizer) was okay. The Insalata Caprese was excellent. The homemade mozzarella was very good and the pesto was great. Everyone who had the Tomato Bisque raved about it. For entrees, I had the pork chop, the mahi mahi and the skirt steak. The skirt steak was good, but compared to the others it was okay. Everything about the dish was great, I think it's just the confines of the cut that made it third in my rankings. Still a great dish, though. The pork chop, which was the favorite of many of my friends, was very, very good. It was a nice big cut, cooked just right, with delicious toppings. Very closely my second favorite. The mahi mahi was definitely the best dish I had for all the same reasons as the pork chop. I just thought it was slightly better, but not by much. All in all, the entrees were absolutely delicious. Also ordered multiple times at our table was the spaghetti and meatballs, which everyone really enjoyed. I had the macaroni and cheese, truffle cauliflower and sweet potato bourbon mashed potatoes. All were excellent. You MUST get the bourbon sweet potatoes. Different and delicious. No one ordered dessert because we aren't really dessert eaters, and we were so full anyways. Collectively we all ordered just about the entire menu and couldn't find a less than excellent dish. I read the other reviews and I thought they were all way off. Most are quite old, don't reflect the current menu, and/or don't give enough credit. The service was great, we never had a wait, the food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere was nice. If I ever find myself at the resort again I will definitely go here and I will recommend it to everyone. I have never written a review but felt obligated because of the quality and the disservice given by the other reviews. GO HERE TO EAT!

Auntie Pasta is one of the oldest culinary names at Snowshoe Mountain, dating to 1981. Its previous location was where the luxurious Seneca Condominiums are now, and after a couple of years' absence, it is now it is located in the Conference Center level of Mountain Lodge, where the old steakhouse used to be. Despite its location outside the Center Village, it nonetheless is very convenient to all of the sprawling Snowshoe resort, being a short walk from the village and within easy access from the Snowshoe shuttles. The old Auntie Pasta used to be a fairly no-frills, hearty Italian food. The new Auntie Pasta is still hearty in its offerings, but with a little upscale ambiance action added. The restaurant now features nice Italian and continental music. I was surprised to hear Eros Ramazzotti on the speakers, and despite the deplorable food, I was briefly transported to Europe. That's where the similarities end as to comparing it to the Old Continent... The menu's antipasti selections include escargot, mussels and bruschetta as some of its traditional faire. For those with a fried fetish, fried calamari, fried provolone, and stuffed banana peppers complimented the offerings. The entrée menu included several pastas as well as a five-sauce selection that included vongole (both red and white), meat, marinara and pomodoro. The other selections included meat as well as vegetable lasagna, manicotti, shrimp scampi, chicken Marsala and Pasta Primavera among others. Desserts include the must-have Tiramisu, Creme Brulee, and several cakes. The wait staff is made up primarily of H2B-visa seasonal foreign employees, mostly college students. This is perhaps why despite its food quality shortcomings, service at Auntie Pasta was all but impeccable. I arrived at 7 PM and was promptly seated at a table of my choosing. My waitress was a young Peruvian student with outstanding service skills and manners. The appetizer was an abysmal disappointment. I ordered the mussels, and out of about 30 mussels on the platter, fully 12 - almost half, weren't open. This means they were either dead or bad. Any chef worth his or her salt would have excised them from the plate, exercising proper quality control. I spoke to the manager and after checking in the back, she said that they come precooked (!!!) but they would check their supplier. Upon hearing this, I was brought back to memories of Bette Midler in her anguished cry in Ruthless People "I've been kidnapped by K-Mart!!!" I ordered the catch of the day, the trout stuffed with crab meat, as well as a tasty California Pinot Grigio to accompany the selection. It is obvious that this selection is a commercial ready-made item. Although the stuffing was very flavorful, the trout was dry and tough, obviously reheated. I only was able to pass less than half. After this experience, I didn't dare order dessert, for fear of Chernobyl-manufactured Creme Brulee... The coffee was good, though. Overall, dinner at Auntie Pasta deserves one star or less judging by food quality alone. However, that would put it at par with the Junction at Snowshoe, the world's worst restaurant in my book, and it clearly doesn't merit that dubious notoriety. Besides, service was superb. No reason penalizing a great wait staff for the chef's shortcomings. After reviewing most of Snowshoe-owned restaurants, I can attest that Snowshoe can deliver a superb, unmatched, solid business in ski operations, but it lacks substantively when it comes to the restaurant business. Just about all of the independent mountain-top competition delivers better food. And a good contractor could deliver a much better quality to its customers. As is, Auntie Pasta is un-Pastable.

I'll start with the location... uhhh kinda weird. We came from the village side and found that this place was hard to find. It's in the bottom of one of the apartment complexes. I felt like I was walking through a college dorm. It's all the way in the basement. Apparently if you come from the slopes its easier to find. The food - we had the bread w/ the olive tapenade - pretty good. For an appy we had the caprese salad - good considering tomatoes aren't in season. We both ordered the penne pesto pasta. It was good. Nothing to write home about though. I wasn't impressed with the menu and I always resort to some sort of pasta when confused. Decent though.

Nice ambiance and friendly staff. One of a few decent places to eat at Snowshoe. It's great that you can also make a reservation ahead of time which makes all the difference when you have kids.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
