Stopped for lunch. The prices were very reasonable and the food was amazing. Must try the crab bisque. They have a lunch special salad, cup of soup, and half sandwich for $10. Great deal. Eat on the patio. Atmosphere is perfect.

Ate here while we stayed at the Blennerhasset overnight. Its a charming little place and feels like going back 40-50 years time time. They had a nice wine selection both by glass and bottle. Had their crab cakes which were excellent and risotto with bacon and some type of Italian cheese....incredible! The price was fair. The service left a bit to be desired but they were unusually busy that night. I would go here again if I was in Parkersburg.

We were staying at the hotel on a Saturday night and decided to just go downstairs to this restaurant for dinner. We were seated for about 20 minutes before our server came to our table for our drink order. There were 6 other tables inside and a few on the patio, so they were not that busy. After several more minutes our drinks came and she took our order. It was another 30 minutes before the food arrived. We were suppose to get rolls and she never brought them. My husband asked about it and she brought them. They were so dry! We didnt eat them. My husband ordered 1/2 a duck and you would think that would be a breast and a leg, but he got 2 tiny legs. He said it was way overcooked. The vegetables that came with it were overcooked as well and slimy. He took a few bites and said it was too awful to eat. I had the black bean burger and it was not very good either. They said it was house made, but it did not taste fresh at all. We ended eating just a few bites. The one thing we did like was the cheese plate, but thats hard to mess up! $70.00 down the drain, what a waste. We ended up going down the street to Jimmy Johns for sandwiches and they were great!

My husband and I keep coming back here, so I've decided the place obviously deserves four stars from me after all. They have a new menu now, and everything we've tried on it has been excellent. One quibble that's not unique to Spats is that you never know what size the small plates are going to be. I ordered the fried oysters as an appetizer once, and I got four for my $15. The next time, I ordered the fried calamari, and it came in a huge bowl that my husband and I could have easily split. But I got no help from him because he was wrestling with the huge steak quesadilla! It seems like there's got to be a solution to this problem somehow. All in all, we enjoy this place even more than we did the first time around.

Came back today for lunch and found they were serving buffet style brunch. Not a huge selection but everything we tried was good. They had a nice omelet station, well done. Sat outside under a canopy very nice setting and atmosphere.

My $36 filet was well over cooked. However the Mediterranean salad was great. Staff was good. Prices are high.

Short and sweet. Bar: Awesome staff, comfortable tables and lounge, notably good wine list, wimpy craft beer selection. If you're not specifically coming to Spats for white tablecloth dining, consider hanging out and eating at a bar table for more relaxed vibe and great service. Restaurant: Hit or miss service, hit or miss food. For these prices, you would be right to expect better. Never once had an unqualified great meal here, but plenty of mediocre ones. Seems they can't get (nor keep) quality experienced back or front of the house staff. Breakfast might be the thing they do best overall, which should tell you something. Burgers are the menu highlight, particularly after recent menu updates. The namesake Spats Burger is very very (very) good.

We had a wonderful lunch in their beautiful outdoor courtyard (part of the Blennerhassett Hotel). The food (we each had different soups and salads) was excellent and the service very good. Both salads featured salmon, which was cooked perfectly. We look forward to returning here. The next time we will also stay at the hotel, which from the lobby was very appealing.

The bar is fantastic. Great Martinis and Mojitos. The wine list is very extensive as well. The table service is terrible. Beyond terrible. The restaurant wasn't crowded and our service barely paid attention to us. Our party spent over 400 dollars collectively. I'm not a rich man, and maybe rich people don't expect service to be good when spending this amount. I can spend 25 dollars at food land and get everything I needed for all the meals, and actually get a smile from the cashier.

Very nice restaurant... Extensive wine and drink menu, nice entree selection, decor amazing. I ordered the tuna rare and a side spinach salad.. Both were very good, the tuna was cooked (or not cooked depending on how you view it) to perfection. This restaurant couldnt get 5 stars from me for two fixable reasons.. 1)service.. if someone at your restaurant orders a white wine and you dont have their selection chilled, tell them it will be 30 minute wait for a drink and i guarantee you that they will choose a different wine. We would have asked to change the order after 15 minutes but even though the place was near empty we didnt see our server. 2) valet parking... Doesnt have any! I'll still return again and hope for quicker drink service

Came for Lunch. Sat outside. Waiter appeared to be 15 years old with braces...but was helpful with the menu somewhat.... but not attentive. The food was sub par. I can name 5 restaurants for lunch that are WAY BETTER in town (CJ's Italian Kitchen, Las Agaves, Panera Bread even)!!!! It tasted like bad airplane food. I got the portbella sandwich. it came on a very big piece of stale thick bread/roll that masked the fact that there was probably a half of a portabella cap cut in slices inside. what a disappointment. The "Soba Noodle Salad" (a choice side) tasted like something Lean Cusine would have. I was very unimpressed. I waited to pay my bill while my ice water class was dry, No refills. The waiter got busy and neglected us to the point we had to take up our check inside. An older guy that looked like manager type asked how the food was, i responded "ehhh".. He didnt ask for me to elaborate. I guess he didnt care. I would go back at night to try dinner maybe. As far as I am concerend they only have atmosphere going for them. Panera Bread has a FAR better lunch then this place. I guess they get by since the hotel guests are pretty much forced to eat here.. Take my advice.. walk a few blocks and goto Mangos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great restaurant. Good service, good food, well worth the visit. One if the best restaurants in the area. My wife and I are always in the area visiting our daughter at OU. Will make it a point to go back.

Hey, you're in Parkersburg! I think that Spats and the Blennerhassett Hotel are very good in absolute terms. Factor into the mix that you are in PKB and they are fantastic. I think that the atmosphere is better than the food but the food is not bad. The Salmon entree is dependable; they do a good job on the steaks. Service is generally OK. If a bit rough around the edges The wine selection is truly epic In short the Blenny and Spats are an old school 100 room full service hotel - you won't find many of those around Don't even think of staying anywhere else in Parkersburg!

Never had a bad meal here nor anything but good service. The Restaurant is in a Victorian era Hotel that is the best place in the area to get a good meal and hear live jazz.

Great presentation. Wonderful food. Great service. I had black pepper crusted filet last night and tuna this evening and they were both prepared perfectly. My wife had the salmon both nights, she enjoyed it so much. We also had crab cakes for an appetizer and they were delicious as was the slaw that came with them. Finally, my wife loves cheesecake and she said this the most delicious cheesecake she has ever eaten. We love this place and will definitely be back.

Very friendly waitstaff, very cool decor, and the live music was a wonderful completion to a romantic dinner (as long as you aren't right next to them). Oh, and the food was wonderful as well. I had the duck and it was perfectly done and not at all too chewy or gamey. My wife had the salmon and she described it as the best salmon she has ever had (and she gets salmon everywhere we go).

I have to say I am very picky and I was very very surprised by this place. A lot of people will say they are picky but to be picky you need to have actually travelled and eaten in many places, which few can say. The good news is they apparently have a brand new menu which we had the chance to dine on. Against all inclinations I ordered the hummus. DAMN that was good. Not the best I have had, but darn close (it's hard to beat a Turk or a Lebanese who has prepared it his whole life). My wife's French Onion Soup was also quite good. The entrees were good, though not quite to the appetizers standard but still very good. SKIP the dessert! The wine list is AMAZING. They should work the organization a little bit more, despite having apparently re-worked it just recently. Things are buried throughout and it can take a while to find all the little treasures in there. And there are many of those! Service is good, ambiance not bad, the lighting needs to be adjusted - some tables are dark, some bright.

Wonderful Sunday Brunch! Great Variety.NOt just your usual Lunch or breakfast items, but shrimp and oysters on ice, unique salads..Variety of Desserts,too...Beautiful setting in one of their cozy rooms or outside on their nicely landscaped patio. Located in historic Blennerhasset Hotel, which is a great attraction on it's own!
