Pretty solid place, actually had been here a couple years ago and did not realize it until I was inside. Low prices and good food, can't beat it and only a half mile from the hotel.

A HUGE group of us were at La Roca for a birthday party. The staff was so accommodating. The food was hot and delicious. The drinks were flowing. The atmosphere was festive. We had a great time! Thanks, La Roca!

Went here over the weekend and it was so-so to say the least. Service was the worst we have ever had. Food was ok, but it was honestly better in the past.

Quick and friendly service, comfortable booths, and the chips (thin and warm) came with chunky red sauce and a spicy white sauce - my favorite. We had the cheese enchiladas and chili rellenos with a pepper with a nice kick. Standard Mexican fare, done well.

This is a great Mexican restaurant! The service was amazing and very prompt. I had a t-bone, my wife had the carne asada; both were wonderful and cooked well. The enchilada sauce is also really good. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely return soon and regularly!

Lunch in Cross Lanes - It's Roca Grill (not sure why the name is wrong on Yelp) time! The first impression of this place is SPACIOUS. Nice sectioned off opened areas. They have a patio that looks nice from the inside when its too cold to sit out there. Lotsa window in here. The chips and salsa were good. The wife thought the salsa was too garlicy, I disagreed. Roca serves a sweet, tangy, mayonnaise based dip of some sort with their chips. I'm generally against mayo and its cousins, but I did find myself trying it again and again. No standard green and red hot sauce on the tables here. I asked for hot sauce or salsa, I got none. I ordered the usual: Grilled Taco Salad + chicken, spinach, mushrooms. I got Grilled Taco Salad + steak, spinach, mushrooms. It was pretty good, I didn't send it back. The meat was a little on the salty side. The wife claimed the same of her beef in the Nachos Grande'ish thing that she ordered. The salad was a little smaller than other places, but it was tasty. I ordered the Fried Ice Cream. The delivery guy didn't deliver something that they needed to make it or something (I couldn't really follow the explanation). So I was offered other desserts. I passed. I was then offered a free one the next time I return. Nice gesture. Nothing in writing. Stuff happens. Fair enough. In general, I like this place. Some misses on this particular visit, but not enough to put it below average for me.

Every time I come here everything is always great. From the staff to the cooks, food is always prompt and I have never been disappointed!!! Their drinks and music keep you in a good mood as well. A good place to hang out and chill with your friends!

Above average SMF: Standard Mexican Fare. It has a nice atmosphere, service is generally fast and friendly, and the menu is more-or-less what you expect for the genre (but well-made). Full bar service with decent call and top shelf liquors but nothing special beer-wise. There are better SMF restaurants around but also many, many worse. If you're in Cross Lanes or western Kanawha / eastern Putnam counties it's worth a trip.

Food was good and service was on point. Food came out really fast. My boyfriend got the bacon wrapped shrimp and loved it. I got chicken in a fried tortilla. It was also very very good. Dinning area is very clean. Booths are very comfy. Over all wonderful food service and atmosphere. I will definitely be back.

Better than the other Mexican restaurants in the area mostly due to a different variety of options. The food is better, the environs are better. The standard fare is better here than at most other American-Mexican places.

Nice atmosphere....good service. good chips (light and thin). served with white salsa and regular salsa. food is average...avg to small portion sizes.... They are kind of pricey...so I do not think it is worth what you pay. doubt I would come here again

I came here for lunch and had the special that consisted of 2 enchiladas & my grandma had el azteca. We sat on the terrace, which was nice although there are no umbrellas so it was very sunny. The service was very friendly and the food was good; nothing incredible, but reasonably priced in a great atmosphere.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
