Worst Chinese I've ever had! Had New Years eve dinner 2015'. All the dishes tasted the same! Extremely American Chinese cuisine :(

Definitely not our first choice, we landed at this place after we discovered our first and second options were closed for Labor Day. Everything was pretty average and didn't really find anything to get too excited about. The sushi was about the worst I have ever encountered at a buffet and everything on the buffet seemed a bit too greasy. On the plus side, happy to find miso soup offered, the staff seemed friendly and the place was clean. Also the vegetable chow fun was delicious! If I lived in Charleston, I might go back, but as an occasional visitor to the area, will most definitely be hitting up other establishments.

Yes the Yelp map is showing Riverwalk Plaza in South Charleston but it does no good to tell Yelp. I've told them 6 times that Creperie Cafe closed in Kanawha City 2 years ago but they've not corrected it yet. Anyway, China Buffet is a decent place to get a reasonably priced buffet. Those grouchy people dissing it need to take their faux-European palates and maybe eat at Su Tei but spend more $$. The rest of us know what we're getting for our $.

The yelp map is wrong. This is the china buffet in the Kanawha mall in Kanawha City. I have eaten here so many times they know me by name. Probably for tens years. Like any buffet it is best to visit during peak hours but I've never seen a dried out pan of food. They have many great dishes. Always clean and fresh. No buffet can get 5 stars except maybe the Bellagio.

The great thing here is that the food is consistently good. But every time there's an item or two that just stands out. And it's different each time. The peanut chicken, teriyaki chicken, crab Rangoon and Hong Kong chicken are always a go to item. The staff is friendly and courteous and the prices are very good. Plus they have takeout by the pound as opposed to a single small container.

This is by far one of the best Chinese restaurants in West Virginia. I travel wv quite a bit and have sampled all around. The owner is extremely nice and I had asked if an item had been removed from the lunch bar, he replied yes but then brought me a plate of it. Food is always fresh. Wish it was closer to my house, china gourmet is gross.

I really miss my favorite Chinese buffet. I ate there several times a month over a 10 year period. The food was always good. There's a great selection of main dishes, sides, soups, and salads. And it's reasonably priced. Luckily, I only moved 45 minutes away, so I can still eat there whenever I'm in Charleston.

Typical China Buffet - my second one to visit in Charleston....better than the other one I went to. I still hope to find something a little better in town. I've seen better - seen worse. I totally agree with "Jason C's" review of this place...he nailed it.

Love this place, great food, great staff (friendliest around) best crab rangoons in the area, would've given this place 5 stars but the eggrolls are the worst I have tasted ever. Definitely frozen variety tasteless and small. If these were homemade I would drive here weekly.

My favorite Chinese buffet! Awesome selection. They serve the best hot & sour soup around, and their Mongolian Chicken is delicious! You'll find something to like here.

Never disappointed. Good price and nice selection on their buffet. The sushi isn't that great, but after all this is a buffet restaurant.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
