Definitely exceeds expectations for a Wisconsin supper club. Restaurant was clean, and service was efficient and pleasant. Fun "hor d'ourves" include spicy links, cheese toasts, and fried wings. Onion ring appetizer was very good - definitely recommend it. My wife's strip steak was done to order and delicious. Ribs were great. Fried chicken and fried walleye were excellent, though a bit salty. And true to the supper club format - not a vegetable in sight! Unfortunately, we were so stuffed afterward we did not have room for any of their interesting ice cream drinks.

We found the Plantation Supper Club via the AAA TourBook. I usually enjoy the supper club atmosphere, but really, this place was a disappointment. We got the Prime Rib and the Orange Roughy. The Roughy was tasty, but the Prime Rib was basically flavorless. The service was spotty at best, and everything else was a bust as well. Overall very disappointing. I'd recommend skipping it and finding something else.

I'm usually not a big fan of eating holiday meals in restaurants. There's just something about cooking a big meal for the extended family -- and the smoky smell of turkey and fresh scent of pumpkin pie throughout the house. But this year, to make things easier for everyone involved, the Row clan decided to have Thanksgiving dinner at the Plantation, largely because C. and I were flying in from New York. I'm glad we did. Not only did it make the travel and holiday easier, the Thanksgiving dinner was actually quite nice! A few of us ordered proper entrees, but many of us opted for the Thanksgiving special. The plate included your requisite turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, yams, cranberry sauce, and roll. The turkey was a little dry, and the stuffing wasn't as good as my mom's, but all in all, it did the trick. Add to that a slice of pecan pie (warmed, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream) -- others got the usual pumpkin pie -- and it was quite excellent. The Plantation is a sizable restaurant, with quite a large bar area, and if they can do holidays so well, imagine what their every-day menu is like. Worth a try!

The Plantation is a wonderful place! Came in with a group of 16 after giving a few min warning.... We were seating after a few minutes, with two servers to ensure a great and quick dining experience! The food poured in quickly, keeping the kids happy and they gave them colors and color books to keep us happy! They also served a large kids menu and a lighter menu( that even the adults ordered, and had plenty of food). Ordered a wide variety of food; from lobster, to fish, ribs, chicken,& lasagna... Everything was wonderful!! Would suggest for anyone who likes the supper club atmosphere and likes good food!!!

My wife and I try to go to a supper club whenever we are off the beaten path in WI. A trip to Minocqua brought us to The Plantation, and we were impressed. The prices were a bit on thr high side, but the food was great! I am not normally a prime rib fan, but theirs was fantastic. The only thing that was different was the relish tray. They actually brought us out 3 small appetizers prior to our meal. They were great, but not quite the veggies anf rolls that have become standard supper club pare. I would definately go back!

The Plantation Supper Club never disappoints. We vacation in Wisconsin for a week each summer, and the Plantation is a favorite amongst many of the families in our group. We often dine at the Plantation in a large group, and the service has never been a problem. I usually end up getting the broiled walleye - which comes with a salad, choice or potato and those FUN FUN FUN little appetizers - a chicken wing, little fancified hot dog and a tiny piece of toast with a cheesy mayo topping. I'm not a huge fan of the chicken, but I look forward to the toast every year! And last but not least, the long list of dessert drinks is a fun way to finish off your meal at the Plantation. :)

Typical supper club. However, take a wander into the bar and sample some of their cheese and crackers near the piano. DELICIOUS! My food was personally only okay. I tried the French Onion soup and was rather disappointed. It was bland, and the onions were rather crunchy still. However, they have interesting specials like 3 lobster tails for $34.95, and a chunk o' prime rib and a lobster tail for $28.95-- which is a sure crowd pleaser. Expect to spend some dough, but a decent option for the area.

It just doesn't get much better then this place. I don't visit the area without stopping here at least once, and it never disappoints. Everything here is good, but the fried chicken is probably the best I've ever had anywhere.

Very excited to finally be giving the ol' plantation a review. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I have been going up to Woodruff my whole life. Our cabin is in Lac Du Flambeau so we'll occasionally venture out to Mani Waters/Boulder/Minocqua/etc for some grub. My parents have gone to the plantation way more than I have. I recently visited it again to celebrate my parents 35th wedding anniversary. It was myself, my sister, sister's fiance and my parents. Our waitress could not have been nicer. I tipped her off at the beginning of the dinner that we would like a bottle of champagne to toast to my parents right after dinner and before dessert. She was SO great and really nailed it on the timing of the whole thing. Food is exceptional. I nail Broiled Walleye any time I'm in Wisconsin. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great. My sister's fiance had the orange roughy and said it was also fantastic. Drinks are made well too! Just fyi. If you're going up to the north woods of WI and want a quaint place to eat, please consider going to this restaurant. Take note they are not open on Mondays but that doesn't seem to bother most people. It's great place for groups and people of all ages.

One of my favorites in the Minocqua area and highly recommend. Great entrees, prices are in line with their menu and great service. My favorites include the 27oz. Porterhouse Steak or better yet, a full rack of fall-of-the-bone BBQ Rib's. The ribs are probably the best in the Northwoods!

Sadly disappointed. Been waiting for years to try this place and finally got the chance tonight on New Years Eve. The decor was very dated, the food was edible but just not good. Everything tasted bland. The fried shrimp was hard and the breading fell off, the steaks were small and even the salad dressing had no taste. Really don't like giving mediocre reviews but unfortunately this one deserved it. Not sure who is writing these 4 & 5 star reviews but we certainly won't ever go back. Wish we would have stayed home and grilled steaks ourselves.

1 hour for dinner to arrive. Bryce made the steaks perfect, but it was the only bright spot. The bar serves VERY short pours. Limited beer, wine, spirits selections. Short on staff and no host or hostess.

Old School,Up North Supper Club. If your not familiar with this genre you must experience it. Great food. Awesome Prime Rib! You'll feel like your in a 1950's Supper Club when owners cared about their reputation and it showed.

this is maybe one of the higher end restaurants in the area? on a friday night at 7p there is a 40min wait. no sweat, the bar is where most are lingering. food is good, staff is courteous and efficient, prices are reasonable. i had chicken; friends had walleye, perch and prime rib. all in my group were pleased. with a few drinks bill was about $130. i was pleased and would certainly return.

Went here on a recomeendation (note to self: stop listening to other people's advice). Upon arrival to The Plantation, it has more of a family style restaurant than a Northwoods supper club. Actually, the interior kinda looks that way too. When I arrived the place was just getting done with their dinner rush and quickly emptying. By the time we were seated, about 20min. I think there were about 10 patrons in the dining area. No biggie on the wait, the bar sufficed just fine. Being a Friday night in Wisco of course everywhere from gas stations to 4star restaurants do a fish fry. I don't know why I bother ordering fish fry outside of dive bars (typically the best IMO), but I did, and I was modestly disappointed. Floppy, soggy breading, the only fish available was cod, etc... Nothing other than the fish being mediocre was worth storing to long term memory. If you're in the area, branch out, get lost, you'll find better...fish fry anyway. With all that said, I would still like to sample the regular menu and give the Plantation another shot.

I really wanted to love this restaurant, however, there were a few problems with the food. I ordered the chicken oscar, salad, french fries. When my salad was served to me, I instantly noticed that the iceberg lettuce had been frozen, so I spent 5 minutes picking out the unwanted lettuce, leaving me with 1/2 of a salad. I was a little surprised that it was even served to me, seeing the lettuce was so transparent from being frozen, it was so obvious. My chicken oscar and fries were then served, the oscar was very good, very tasty, chicken was done perfect. The fries that were served to me were deep fried twice. I could tell because they were dripping with oil. I can only assume the fries were done way before the chicken and were cold, so they tried to reheat them. Never ate a single one! The appetizer plate consisting of a chicken wing, a piece of toast with mayonnaise and cheese and a little smokey sausage was a nice start to the meal, however, things went downhill from there. We ordered 2 ice cream drinks which were very good. A nice gesture would have been to give me the drink for being served 2 non edible items. Wasn't looking for anything free, but it would have been a nice gesture, and we might have gone back to this restaurant. Seeing there are so many other restaurants in the area, we won't be back...sorry!

Went to the Plantation Supper Club for the first time. Very hospitable staff. Probably the best service in the Northwoods. The salad was average with some brown lettuce and I liked the sesame bites in there, but the cream of shrimp soup was given excellent reviews. The small plate of hors d'oeuvres was just the right touch to get us started. The steak was cooked just right and was a nice tasting piece of meat although I used some salt I must admit. There were no veggies served with the meal. The butter was cold and so I had to put whole pats in the bread (oh poor me). They had a great selection and I wish I had the room to try some dessert. Didn't hear piano going, and no music was on the horn, which was a bit disappointing, but enough people were having a jolly time so it wasn't awkward or anything. Interior not really northwoodsy, but it didn't take away from the experience. The drinks were average (size: thimble) but the price was very right and they tasted good.

Minocqua is full of supper clubs and this one by far is one of the better ones! Bea went with Blanche and both enjoyed good stiff drinks: excellent Brandy Sour! The atmosphere is pure Wisconsin supper club and most of all the service is fantastice. Too often a resort town can be chock a block full of places with mediocre service. The Plantation is not one of those, our server was attentive, helpful and prompt! Now for the food: I had the prime rib and lobster tail which at $28.95 was half of what you pay for a similar meal in Chicago. Plus you get a salad too start and starter of appetizers, fried wings/smokey weiners/pumpernickel mozzarella....pure old school and a guilty pleasure. What more could you want: a big bar in case you have to wait for a table...THEY GOT ONE! A piano player...THEY GOT THAT TOO!

Been going here since I was a child... revisited this past weekend. While the food is fantastic, please take a minute to read this story. My dad has been sober for 18 years - he ordered a virgin bloody mary for dinner. When it was delivered, it had vodka in it. He realized this after his first sip. When I brought this drink to the bar and asked for the manager, the owner (Lynn, I think) approached me. I told her what had happened and even said "I know that I don't need to mention the severity of this mistake." Lynn immediately made an excuse for her server and bartender, then proceeded to actually try the drink because she didn't believe me. Even after she tried it, she said "all I taste is the spices." 8 minutes later my dad was brought the drink he ordered. When we got the bill, they charged us for the drink! My family has at least 3 dinners there a summer (12-15 plates). Saturday was our last.

Had dinner here last night; food was only OK and I find their prices to be a bit on the high side. Our server was great, however. The Plantation is never in my top places to dine while in this neck of the Northwoods.
