Enjoyable for a strip mall restaurant. The clientele is predominantly North shore retirees. So, it's generally quiet throughout the entire establishment. The food is above average. The burgers & bar are the best things going on here. Fish, steaks & salads are pretty good too. But, all this doesn't matter! North Shore Bistro is closing its doors. Apparently, the owner has passed away & nobody will step up & take the helm. Bummer, cause NSB was the best bet for fine dining in the Fox Point / Bayside area.

This restaurant is normally seen as a classy choice for fine dining in the north shore area. However, after my last experience there, I would not return. My family and I decided to come here for lunch after an event and I will admit it was very busy. There seemed to be one overworked waitress serving both the inside and outside. Eventually I noticed another waiter, but he wasn't around for quite as long. Our waitress was rude, gave quick responses, barely spoke to our table and also messed up my order almost (which she wouldn't have known if she wouldn't have checked much later on how I wanted my steak cooked, even though I requested salmon on my salad). While she was busy, and I understand that they seemed short staffed, I've had more polite, friendly and caring waiters at a place like iHop. For a $17 salmon salad, I received an ok piece of salmon that was pretty small and a tiny amount of arugula, cucumbers, sugar snap peas and roasted asparagus. While overall didn't taste bad, the portion size was questionable to say the least. For that price, I expect a lot more. The four people with me also had a variety of issues with their dishes. You're better off going to a chain like Cheesecake Factory than this place.

This is one of the few restaurants my picky eater will go to. She loves their chicken fingers and waffle fries. The food is great. I think they have one of the best burgers in town. I like the one with wilted spinach and fresh mozzarella. We have always had great service and on the weekends there is live music.

When you are in town for business finding a place with a decent meal can be difficult, especially since I hate chain restaurants. A coworker recommended NSB to me and he did a good job. NSB was a nice find in a strip mall full of chain eateries. I ordered the NY Strip Salad and was filled with delicious greens and steak. The salad was made with arugula, grape tomatoes, shaved cucumber, green onion, grilled asparagus, sugar snap peas, shaved parmesan and drizzled with orange poppy seed vinaigrette. The staff was very friendly and gave me good recommendations for places to see while in Milwaukee.

Not being a north shore resident, I never really had any motivation to go to NSB. But when I had several dealers in town for training and needed a place close to our factory for dinner, NSB was a the perfect choice. They easily accommodated my groups of 12 and 17 on different occasions. Service was excellent. Each visit had one server for the table but both of them did a great job getting drinks quickly and taking orders. And the food was good. Menu is a bit all over but it has something for everybody. On my first visit I had the steak & friets. You get a LOT of friets. Steak was decent. Second visit I had the chicken martini. Once again, it was good. Everyone in both visits enjoyed their meals also. Only down thing is on my second visit, the place was filled with old people. We were easily the youngest people there by about 30 years. I thought "Oh god, is this place just a nice Old Country Buffet?". But as the night progressed, a more age diverse clientele showed up. NSB won't make me choose it over the vast selection I have downtown but it's a decent restaurant if you happen to be up on the north side.

Not sure where Mequon ends, and Bayside begins.... But it's definitely south of NSB! Sooooo good! Yet another "someplace clean" where I can grab a $14 burger. Or maybe do something exotic, like seafood! Fantastic! If I could ignore the Bayside part; substitute comely librarians for the geriatrics; remove the structure from Brown Port and gut the interior; install a seasoned bartender (and some quality bourbon); and mock up the menu.... I think I might really like this place. Seeing that I can effect none of this, blah.

This is our best/favorite local restaurant. We ALWAYS sit at the bar for drinks as well as dinner. My fav dish is the lobster salad, but other notables include the tuna takaki, and bacon cheddar burger.

Not very vegetarian friendly. We went with my husbands family for dinner. My mother in law called beforehand to make sure they had vegerarian selections and we were told OH YES, of course! Well there really wasn't anything on the menu at all for us to order. I asked the waiter what he suggested. He said the only thing really was the stir fry. We asked if it could be made without mushrooms and he said no, but that I could pick them out if I wanted... which is not only rude, but also leads me to believe it must be a frozen mix or premade. My husband and I got the hummus appetizer which was ok. I got the only salad that didn't come with meat (price $12.99) and my husband got a side of potatoes. My salad was soooo boring. It was just a pile of watery lettuce, what seemed like no dressing at all, and some candied walnuts that were so sweet they hurt my teeth. I picked the cheese pieces out and ate those and left the rest. Can't believe we wasted our money and had such little help finding something to eat. This place definitely gets 2 stars for a Meh. I've experienced better.

Was recommended this place by a colleague who lives in the area and am very glad that I went there. They have by far some of the best baby back ribs I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and very fleshy which comes right off the bone. I ordered the baby back ribs with coconut shrimp, and though it was the first time i've had coconut shrimp, they were definitely unforgettable! The entire dish was just amazing and I think if i go back any time soon, i'll order it again. My colleague ordered the steak frites and he really enjoyed his dish also. Presentation was great, ambiance is cool, prices are mid $20's for most dishes but well worth it. Servings are also very large so there's no need to order any appetizers etc.

We've been going here for the last 4 years but tonight will be our last visit. At first we were very satisfied with the food and service but the last three visits have each disappointed with the quality of the food and really related service. I would definitely recommended avoiding: Pot stickers - slathered in an overpowering brown sauce. Fried seafood( shrimp or calamari) - way overcooked, rubbery Thai chicken wraps - poor flavor

This is a great place for dinner. They have lots of seafood & a variety of choices for all. We ate outside & it was a very nice atmosphere. The desserts were tasty, especially the ice cream drink. Our server Madeline handled our big party easily.

Rave - Super fantastic salads! Overall, interesting menu. Beautiful patio and flower garden in the summer, tasty Friday Fish Fry, live music at night (not sure if its every night, or just on Friday's). Rant - no happy hour drink specials, service is inconsistent - some servers are excellent and others are laughably bad (attitude, memory, speed). Lunchtime crowd draws mostly little old ladies - but I like little old ladies, so this works for me.

I've eaten here twice in a week's time. Dinner Saturday was potstickers and whitefish. Fish was supreme, potstickers tasted OK, but should be steamed, not fried and oily. Dinner Wednesday was hummus plate and scallops. Hummus plate very unique: plain and simple, but fresh and tasty. Sadly the scallops were not washed well so two of the four were inedible. Very gritty, sandy. Polenta served with them was outstanding. The combination of a roasted red pepper sauce and cooked spinach on this plate left a bitter, nearly metallic, taste in my mouth. It affected the taste of the scallops as well. Strange. Unappetizing. In my view, when food is reported to waitstaff as inedible, the bill should be adjusted. I got an "I'm sorry" but no adjustment to a $22 entree. Bill total $39.. So, I won't be back here to try again. Sad, because there is potential, they're just not managed well I think. :-(

I went there at 5pm and enjoyed their $5 Martini Happy hour special, had the Calamari appitizer and it was great. For dinner I had the Asian Trio and it tasted fantastic. The portion size was perfect, but I shoule have not had both for just one. I will definately go back.

NSB offers standard American fare. I like to think of it as fancier version of Applebee. It is hidden inside a strip mall with Best Buy and Walgreen. The dishes consist of quality ingredients in generous portion. Prices are reasonable. The special keeps the menu interesting and refreshing. I highly recommend the brie and mushroom pizza. It is also one of the few places with 1000 Open Table points at selected time.

good food in what looks like a strip mall....give it a try.... had the short ribs...excellent.....others in the party enjoyed themselves as well.....don't recall all everyone had (it was a couple of months ago) but everyone was happy....this is the same folks who operate Harry's Bar and Grill down in ShoreWood...another good spot to try....

This place has a broad menu that is good for many budgets. You can order an upscale meal like Chilean sea bass, or kick it tavern-style like a buffalo burger and onion rings. The atmosphere is deceiving... decor feels like a dressed-up dining room, almost stuffy. However, at the bar sat a guy in his finest shorts and Converse, and my friends who had arrived from the gym were told "no worries, no dress code". So, we sat there in the relative ornate candlelight and chowed down some good food and martinis in our sweat-suits. Good deal. Service was fine... bread plate included a unique chive-flavored oil, hummus, and butter... we'd go back. Martinis were a grade B, a little over-iced. Kudos on the blue cheese olives.
