I haven't been here in almost a year because of my quest to try all the breakfast places in the greater Milwaukee area. To my amazement sue remembered me and all my breakfast idiosyncrasies with out asking for them, I was blown away by this. I have only been here about 6 times before today. The corned beef hash and eggs are one of my favorite plates here. Sue commented that I have not been in a while and I said yah it's been a while. The corned beef hash beef hash was great as always. I like my sunny side up eggs to be extra runny and not cooked as long as Gus would make it for everyone else. I forgot to tell sue this today and when my plate came I noticed that I got them just how I like them, sue remembered when I forgot. This was freaking amazing since I have been gone for over a year. I also can't finish the whole heap of corned beef hash and I need a box to go. Half way through my breakfast I noticed sue put a box on the end of the counter, 10 minutes later sue says I have your container ready for you just as I was about finish. I was just blown away that sue still remembered those little things after being gone for over a year. When I was finished sue put the container on my table and we settled the check. The whole breakfast was $6.29 for a nice helping of home made corned beef hash. I have a few favorite places now for breakfast and lisbon cafe is my only place for the corned beef hash. In my opinion sue really makes the lisbon cafe what it is.

"Sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your naaaame". Gus', or Lisbon Café, knows my mum's name when we walk in. The waitress will chat with us and ask us how we're doing. No, it's not fancy, no it's not very healthy, no you can't order steak tartare, but that's not what anyone goes there for. It's divey, in a very homestyle, familiar way. Good food. Very cheap. Greasy. Small place. Your food comes out fast. Gets the job done.

This is a very good "greasy spoon" style of breakfast/lunch diner with counter seating as well as booths. The owner, Gus, cooks and is there most days. "Sue," who remembers all her regulars' names, is a spitfire server who runs, doesn't walk. Either she or the busboy, Poncho, keep your coffee above the halfway mark at all times. Breakfast is great. Though the menu is very simplistic with all the basics, you can pretty much ask for anything in the omelet and Gus will make it. Breakfast is great here. Club sandwiches are really good as are the burgers. I also eat the chef salad once in a while. Big and full of cheeses, ham, turkey, tomato and onion (on request). Most times, Gus whips up a fresh cup of Thousand Island dressing, if that's what you order.

Great food, great prices, not your run of the mill place. People seem to know each other here, and there is an eclectic mix of people who come here. Many of the people may be regulars, but as a newcomer, I felt welcomed like I was going there for years. Nothing fancy, but the food is great, the staff and customers are down to earth, and I will be back soon.

It was pure happenstance that I learned about ye olde Lisbon Cafe. I was out to lunch with a friend, and he ran into a couple of old co-workers whose post-retirement life purpose was dining out. Somehow, they told me that the Lisbon Cafe was worth a visit, if I like Corned Beef Hash. If! Why yes, I do! I love it, in fact! And so I like to say it was fate that brought us together, me and the L.C., and nothing shall ever tear us apart. It has become THE breakfast spot for my sister, my brother-in-law, and yours truly. So much so, that if we make plans to go out to breakfast, we no longer have to define where it is we will be going--we just know. The Lisbon Cafe is your standard neighborhood greasy spoon. It is dingy and dated and perfect in every way. Country music blares from a tiny little radio in the kitchen, which reminds me of my grandma's house. The waitress, Sue, shares my birthday and a love for all things silly and playful. The breakfast food is made to order and is guaranteed to be piping hot when it arrives at your table. The price is right, and as an added bonus, Sue can give you a referral for pretty much any service you might need for your life, your auto or your home. She's a real networker, that Sue. I'm telling you, kids...they don't make 'em like this anymore. If you like a traditional old school diner breakfast, you will love the Lisbon Cafe.

I usually go here on Saturday mornings. Their breakfasts are great! I also did try their lunch menu, which was also good. It is an old school "greasy spoon." If you are looking for fancy schmancy, it is not your place. However, if you want friendly service (although not always the fastest), good food at a fair price, and a true neighborhood experience, then I would definitely recommend it.

Until recently I lived a couple of blocks away, and this was my usual stop for a hearty saturday morning breakfast. Apparently now this place is open through the dinner hour, but breakfast is the specialty here. And boy do they do it well, I dream of the fried potatoes at this place. Big, fluffy pancakes too (I wish I knew what makes them so darned good!), and omlettes that would send a cardiologist running. Cheap, mostly-friendly waitresses, and the place is always full of regulars from the neighborhood.
