A bit of a noisy crowd on the night we were there did not detract a whole lot from a very good meal, and it did fit in with the pub atmosphere. The loaded homemade potato chip appetizer started things out right. Very good and a huge portion, more than enough for 2 people. My son and I both had 1/2 pound burgers. His was the beer battered burger with deep fried pickles and jalapenos. It was excellent. I had the black and blue burger with Cajun spices and bleu cheese. I ordered it medium rare and it came medium plus. That was my only complaint. It was still delicious and made with good quality meat and excellent toppings. More burgers, sandwiches, pizza, and a few entrees filled out the menu. A large selection of bottled beer, and a decent selection of draft beer was available at reasonable prices. Service was excellent and the décor is very pleasant. If you're looking for great pub food you can't go wrong here.

We decided to give Brewtown a second and third chance this week. Wednesday, stopped for dinner & ordered a pizza. HUGE improvement in service since our first fiasco. Pizza was ok, not as good as we'd hoped. On Friday, ordered carry-out fish fries. Wasn't busy when we picked up, and food was top notch.

Was very impressed! Came here after purchasing a gift certificate from Living Social. Place is very clean. TVs mounted in the bathrooms were a nice touch. Had the Fried Hamburger special and took a Buffalo Chicken Wrap to go. Both very awesome. Will certainly be back for more

Recently went to the new eatery. Very nice atmosphere. Food was really good. Our table had the patty melt and the Brewtown Burger. Both were very good. Came with some homemade potato chips. Excellent. Heard the other table really liked their homemade ranch dressing with peppercorns. They seemed to really like it. Bloody Mary's were on special on this day for $5.00 very good but was missing something!! Staff was very helpful and polite. We will be coming back again to try their pizza and fish. Very nice restaurant. Hope it sticks around.

A new neighborhood joint located on the corner of 51st & Howard occupying about 1/4th of the old Paulo's Pizza building. We went on a Friday night for a fish fry and were just blown away. The building has been transformed and is now very hip and chic with grey walls and brick and it's so cozy. We had a party of 5 and was told it would be an hour wait but actually only waited about 30 minutes which is not a big deal, especially when waiting for good food. Every customer who left raved about it and said "it's worth the wait" It's a bar setting so there are many high tables and some shorter ones in a separate area. Menu is small but offers the necessities, burgers, appetizers, pizza and fish. As I stated, we had the fish fry and it was AWESOME! Three large and thick pieces of fish, fries, coleslaw and bread for $9.95. The breading is fantastic too, it was like a boasted chicken seasoning breading..... can you say YUM!? Food was superb, service was slow and our server seemed a bit frazzled - perhaps are too new to realize if it's awesome, they will come. If service would have been better it would be an easy 5 stars. So I am giving it a strong 4.75 Stars.

Came here for their Fish Fry. So that's what I got. Read a positive review in the paper regarding their Fish Fry, which referenced off-the-menu Potato Pancakes, and a special of perch. Looks can be decieving, because Brewtown doesn't look like anything special from the outside. It shares a wall with Dollar General...so, yeah. But... Cod, standard to the menu was all that was available (and that was fine), baked, beer battered or fried. Lamentably there were no potato pancakes left (major disappointment, which I'm assuming was brought on by the shoutout of them in the paper - so I'll give them a pass). So I ordered beer battered cod with fries. We also got a app of cheese curds. Cheese curds were good. Nothing that blew me out of my seat, but they were tasty, would order again. The fish was amazing. Delicious batter, of which there was just the right amount. Didn't taste/feel/smell too greasy, tasted fresh and really, it was just perfect. And a solid amount as well. The tarter sauce wasn't bad either. Fries were delicious too. Tasted as fresh a the fish, good flavor, ample amount. Very satisfying. Wasn't a huge fan of the slaw, but I'm typically not a big slaw fan to begin with. Only a few pieces that keep me from giving this place 5 stars, but I can definitely see myself coming back. - Hour and 15 minute wait. Which, I know is pretty standard for a Friday in SE WIsco when you're going for a Fish Fry (and these guys had a favorable write-up the day before in the paper). But you can't make reservations, and when there's a dozen people waiting and it's not nice enough to do so outside, there isn't much wiggle room. - Potato pancakes. I want my potato pancakes. - Our waitress was very nice, was super flexible with splitting the bill, and for the most part I was pleased. Though I wish she had had time to check on the table one or two more times throughout the dinner to top off drinks and such. This is mainly a product of how slammed they were though.

We were the only people there and the food took long. The server was super friendly but could tell he was new. You have to be careful touching rims of glasses with your fingers when setting them down. There was hair in the coffee, which I can understand happens. Then there was a huge egg shell in our soup. I thought they should have taken something off the bill maybe? All in all everyone I was with seemed to enjoy the food. Maybe just some tips they could work on, since they are a new place. Update went again and everything was great! Food and service. Glad we went back.

I don't live on the south side so I can't get here as often as I would like. This place is a great value for the food you get. It's not a cheapo 'get a ton of food that is low in quality type place,' rather, it's a good quality and high on quantity type of restaurant. My kids love coming here because they get huge servings and the food tastes good. If I lived by here, I have a feeling this would be one of my go-to places for family dinners. Weekends are busier, so I prefer the weeknight dining. Great place.

Food is still good however service has gotten a bit worse. I think they went through some owner changes which led to employee changes. The bar tenders are not as friendly that's for sure..... They also got rid of the daily specials and stopped I fusing their own vodkas. Cue the part where they become average..... However this is our neighborhood spot and the fish fry is worth it and the beer selection is good.

We were looking for a fish fry to go to last week. We drove past Lakefront Brewery, Serb's Hall and the Old German Beer Hall. They all looked waaaay too packed, so I checked out yelp to see if there was a nice hole-in-the wall place we could try. This led us to the Brewtown Eatery. Order: A pitcher of beer, two fish fry specials (one w/ chips, one w/potato pancakes), mozzarella sticks Environment: It's a bar with a restaurant section. We didn't venture to the bar side, but everything looked nice/clean. Sports were playing on the televisions, but no loud audio. Patrons were not rowdy at the bar and the vibe was nice and family friendly in the restaurant area. It was around 8 pm on a Friday and it was nice to go somewhere quiet and with less of a rushed feeling than more well-known friday night dining spots. Service: Our waitress felt a little unfriendly, but it was a busy night and I understand how a long shift can wear a person down. She wasn't mean and she was attentive, so I'd say that although not outgoing, the service was fine. Food: Ok, first off. The pitcher was $10! I repeat: $10 for a pitcher!!!!!!! Yeah, for that alone I think we'll be going back. The mozzarella sticks were expensive ($8) and they were okay. You get five of them with marinara. We probably won't get them again, but they weren't bad. The fish special included fried cod, bluegill and another fish. I think it was perch? The breading was a little heavy on the cod, but just right on the other two fillets. The coleslaw I really liked! It had a slightly sweet kick that reminded me of summer. The rye bread slices were small. I would have liked to see a larger slice or an extra small slice. The tartar sauce was good. Chips seem to be house made kettle chips. They were pretty decent. Potato pancakes were good as well. I liked all of the fish, however my bluegill fillets had bones in them. It detracted a bit from the meal, but I was careful to avoid them once I noticed. Conclusion: We came in with no expectations--we picked this place solely on the reviews from yelp. It was a nice, small-town feeling bar restaurant. We both enjoyed it and agreed to make this our secret go-to spot. tl;dr nice service, nice place, decent food, $10 PITCHERS!!!

Simply put, the waitress was a rude old woman but the fish fry was outstanding. Also the beer list was kind of lacking - no Heineken?

We decided to try this place for a fish fry based on the reviews listed here. We went around 4:30 and were seated right away. Our waitress was very friendly. We had the onion rings as an appetizer--very good! Unfortunately our fish came almost the same time as our appetizer. So we hurried with a few more rings before starting in on the fish. The fish was very good--beer batter was light, tasty and not greasy. I had fries; my husband enjoyed the potato pancakes. We would definitely come back for the fish and onion rings, and we'd also like to try some other items.

This is a newer restaurant in my neighborhood. My wife and I stopped in and I had a beer. The place is nice and modern with outside seating. Very cool little place and I am happy to have it in my neighborhood. My wife didn't want to eat here because the burgers were frozen not fresh. My buddy and I came here for lunch and I had the strawberry salad and he had the burger. It was a beautiful day and we sat outside. My salad was iceberg lettuce with strawberries cheese and caramelized walnuts with a bread stick. I guess I expected a mixture of greens not a pile of iceberg untasty lettuce. My buddy had the hamburger which he said was ok but nothing that would bring him back. I would come here again to watch a game or meet friends for beers but the food is the same junk from Sisco you get at most marginal restaurants.

This place is really good! I have been there twice now and have not been disappointed. Food is very good. Spinach artichoke dip appetizer is one of the best I've had anywhere. Service has always been good and prices are very reasonable. Definitely going back for more!

So very disappointed and underwhelmed by a place that was touted to be very good. Ordered fish fries and pizza for pickup. Fish fries...out of potato pancakes at 630 pm? Fail. Fish....65% fish, 35% breading. Very, very, very crispy from overcooking. So overcooked it was curled into a circle. Not pleased. And the coleslaw must have been mixed about a minute before it went into the box...thank you very little for the plain cabbage. Also ordered a pizza. Eh. Very sparse and tight on the toppings. Very. Maybe one quarter sized piece of sausage on most pieces. Not all. Maybe a total of two mushrooms for $1.25. Again, not even one slice made it onto every piece of the pizza. For a seventeen dollar pizza I expect adequate toppings. This did not have them. On a positive note, the mozzarella was of good quality, and very tasty. Still not enough to save it from being over priced, and under topped. The crust was soggy within minutes of arrival. Overall, not pleased with our meal. Quality was lacking in too many ways, while the price was was paid in full. If we are going to pay what we did, we expect better. Chances of returning? Unlikely. Very disappointing because of the convenient location. We'll go farther to get better at the same price or less. I'm not cheap, but I do want the right value for the price I pay.
