My experience was less then pleasurable here for the first time. My boyfriend and I decided to try it out we walk in, sit at a table and wait . And wait and wait. No acknowledgment what so ever . A group of guys walks in sits at a table and with in seconds a server give them menus and she asks for drinks. Needless to say we walked out and won't be returning ! Seems like a trend at this place .

I find myself here often. Why? There's nothing special about Grainger's. It's decidedly un-special. It's my Cheers, in a way I suppose. They always have beer for me. The prices are pretty good, the service is adequate, and most of the food is alright. The chicken dinner is a favorite of mine. I love fried chicken in a styrofoam box. Don't expect a lot, but if you want a bar with bar food and bar folks and bar things to do, then Grainger's fits the bill.

In the past 9 years I have only been to Graingers twice for a COMBINED time of less than 10 minutes. My first experience was with a group of friends who really wanted to check the place out. I had never been, so I was down since I love trying new places. We walked in, went up to the bar right by the bartender. . . and proceded to be ignored. She walked away and started chatting with one of the regulars. After a few minutes of waiting, a guy sitting at the bar near us said that "we probably weren't going to have an easy time getting served since we weren't regulars". That was it for me, and we walked out. A few years later, another group of my friends wanted to check out Graingers. I warned them with my above story, but we figured it had been a few years so maybe things have changed. They had not. Same exact treatment of being ignored and having a regular tell us that's what happens here. I will never step foot in that place ever again. Such a waste of my time and a loss of my business for them!

To some extent, you know what you can expect out of a place like Graingers: TV's everywhere for sports viewing, deep fried bar food, lots of drink specials and a bank of video poker for "Amusement Only". The Good: the crowd here was surprisingly diverse - all ages, kinds of people and races. I feel like just about anyone could come in and feel comfortable here. The So/so: the food and service aren't great but they get the job done. Need some onion rings to soak up the ten Buddies you just drank? They'll send them out but don't expect plates, napkins or utensils. You got fingers and sleeves, right? The Bad: the ladies room is pretty grim. When the toilet seat is sliding off, spend the $15 and get a new one. Also, the music is honestly, truly the worst I've heard anywhere, ever. Some Nickelback would have been WELCOME, it was that bad. The Deal Breaker: a place like Graingers should be a place to come in with your crew, shoot some darts, watch the game and have some cold ones, right? Well...when they serve you a flat beer in a piping HOT glass straight from the dishwasher, I call shenanigans! Any South Side bar that can't manage to pull a decent tapper of Lite should just close their doors. Bottom line - walk away, unless you enjoy warm, flat beer served in a hot glass. Inexcusable.

"So I spent Friday night hanging out at Grainger's" Words this girl will never say again!!!!!! Now I have to give credit where credit is due- this place was very entertaining and they few apps I had weren't terrible so that's cool. People watching here- well it's the south side at it's finest. For about an hour the giant flat screen T.V was frozen to a scene of what appeared to be a semi naked surfer. The music was some of the worst I've ever heard, in fact most of it was so bad I had actually never heard it played before. My biggest beef with this place was that my first beer was served in a HOT beer glass with the beer being warm and flat. While I appreciate the fact that I know my glass was straight out the dish washer, nothing tastes worse than flat warm Miller Lite- NOTHING!!!! They do offer a back "party room" which I am sure some amazing wedding receptions take place. It might be worth hitting on a Saturday night just for that!

We went back for a 3rd fish fry, and yes, it is still great. Service is a bit random, but the food is great. Nice pieces of fish and really good potato pancakes. We will be back!

Great food; really love the walleye and bluegill. Service a little slow, and no atmosphere but that's not why I come here. I come for the huge portions of delicious fish.

If you want a good draft beer, a Brewers game on 4 tvs and a basket of deep fried goodness, then this place fits the bill. I was not impressed with the food and the service was slow.
