If your in Woodinville you're not going to do much better than here. Classy elegant yet casual. Always get excellent service and the food portions are large, fresh, and tasty. On some nights the theater next door fills the parking and you have to sweat out a space. It can get loud and busy but the staff and management bend over backwards to accommodate people. Good date restaurant, okay? =;^)

I wish there was a way to give zero stars. The food was awful! The staff.... Let's just say when you are on the clock or even at your place of buisness you shouldn't be in the bar kissing on your much older partner (one of the gals that brought us our food). They kept taking things away without asking how was it? Just came by and took the glass and plates away. Didn't ask if we liked anything I had to flat out tell them. We didn't like it. The skewers -chicken was DRY sausage was dry, the bread it was served with disgustingly overly buttered (think soaking wet sponge). The Wedge salad Lmfao half a head of iceburg I had to cut up, they dressed it with some yellowish dressing so gross!!! Ahi with coleslaw.... Urm.... What Ahi?! The cabbage was overly sugared not sure Why I was served pickled ginger and a wasabi ball with it and no sauce bowl with soy. Just a hot mess. The only thing that was worth having was the Irish Death. This place needs desperate help in the kitchen and in the wait staff. I would not come here again ever. Awful! UPDATE; 8/29/15 The supposed owner of this facility commented on my review but also messaged me privately and asked me to delete my review or she would pursue me for non payment. As for our check: They did not take any food items off as she claims below, they "discounted" a managers discount of a whopping $3.00! I know this because I PAID CASH of $35 in the pay book before we left. Her comment of us not paying is false! I wish I had only paid $8.00 for the beer. I read other one star reviews and she like many other owners/managers of failing businesses claim they have "signature" dishes etc etc. Obviously there is a repeating pattern of unsatisfied consumers. CONSUMERS are what makes your business $! The problem is in the kitchen and wait staff swapping saliva in the bar and being too concerned with cleaning the dishes off the table. To be blunt I bet they "Chef Mic" all their food (microwave) and everything is pre-made and frozen again awful food and awful wait staff. My 84 year old grandmother with Alz can cook better than this place!

It was so fun the first time we were there. In the bar there was a FANTASTIC happy hour. Good prices, good choices and good staff. Unfortunately that was the last time we have been able to go. Under NO circumstances are they allowed to offer happy hour prices in the restaurant. Despite the fact that it is the same kitchen, same bar and same trained staff servicing the bar and the restaurant...they are absolutely unable to honor the prices and selection at any other location on the property. They won't tell you why, the hostess agrees that it is freaking ridiculous but no one is able to offer a resolution. This is absolutely absurd that they have decided to stick with this business plan. With the smallest bar accommodations in Woodiville; I guess there has to be a payoff for getting there first. Screw the rest of us who arrive after 5 pm....no happy hour for you. NO MATTER WHAT! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I have enjoyed the abundant happy hour offerings at Mi Teirra. They seem to be able to understand the concept of CUSTOMER SERVICE :) Hope to see you all there one day. Carrie posted a reply and let me know the days, hours and locations of their happy hours. Hmmmm....I think she missed the point of the review. My return reply - I think you may have mis understood the issue with your happy hour. When my husband and I arrive after work at, let's say 4:30 pm. If there is no place to sit in the bar....you are essentially turning us away. There is ABSOLUTELY no reason why you can't honor the pricing from the bar in the restaurant. I am willing to pay...are you not interested in money? The dining room is empty and you are allowing customers to leave. I just ask that you not discriminate against those of us who work till 4, aren't able to find a seat or maybe come with a child not allowed in the bar.

I have recently started visiting Big Fish Grill and have been eating my way thru their Happy Hour menu. I can recommend the Clam Chowder, Chicken Quesadilla, Fish and Chips, Caesar Salad, Pear Pecan Salad, and Wedge Salad so far. Oh yes, and I enjoyed a side of mashed potatoes off the regular menu. These mini meals are great especially for the price. They also have a reasonably priced wine by the glass menu. I enjoyed the Cab and Cab Franc. One of the best if not THE best Happy Hours on the Eastside! And the bar area service has been great especially Julian and Emily. My friends and I are going to keep coming and continue our tasting. I always know going into a chain'ish restaurant what I'm getting myself into - mediocre food at high prices with friendly staff. Yep, this Big Fish Grill location nailed my chain restaurant stereotype. My friend and I met here before a movie on Saturday night, and I guess we should've been tipped off when it was the only restaurant for which Open Table had plenty of reservations in the area. I ordered the Seafood Cobb salad, which is a standard cobb that is topped with scallops, Dungeness crab meat and salmon. The weird thing is that they serve it with blue cheese dressing and balsamic vinaigrette - those two dressings don't even complement each other. I stuck with the vinaigrette on the side, and it was fine although a bit sweet. The seafood was just ok - the scallop was kind of flaccid, and the salmon was definitely overcooked. My friend ordered salmon as her entree, and her salmon was waaaaay overcooked, as well. The restaurant is called Big FISH Grill - why don't they know how to cook salmon here? The hostess and waitress were very friendly and helpful, which earns them an extra star here.

The downside for this place was definitely the service. Our server seemed annoyed we were there and was quite rude to the point everyone at the table noticed. I work in the industry and understand that a walk-in 7 top can be stressful but it was obvious that he wasn't insanely busy. Food was excellent.

Had an excellent experience here. The food and service were both 5-star quality. Delicious fish tacos and one of the best pesto chicken sandwiches I've ever had. We highly recommend this restaurant! Great people, food, and price.

Call me crazy but I assume that a place with the word fish in its name would specialize in, uh, I dunno, FISH? The fish sucks but, in all fairness, so does everything else. I have been there 4 times for Happy Hour over the past year. The first time was mediocre enough for me to return the second. The 3rd and 4th return trips were just flat out mistakes. Ahi tuna was foul tasting - as in so bad I am anticipating a late night ER visit. The Dynamite shrimp flavorless unless you count the mayo they were slathered in, chicken strips dry and bland and oysters anything but fresh. No happy hour drink specials on Friday or Saturday either so no redemption there. Don't go. Just don't.

The pad Thai chicken was extremely hot and it burned my mouth. I asked the waitress if it had been microwaved and she said it was prepared fresh. I think she thought it was fresh but it wasn't.

My mom and I had dinner here on a recent trip to the Seattle area. When we walked in, the guy closest to the hostess stand turned around and bolted for the kitchen...um ok...After a few minutes, another waiter came up to us and when I asked to see the menu, he presented them and offered to answer any questions. As it turned out, we decided to stay and this guy wound up being our waiter which was great because he was an excellent server - friendly, courteous and helpful but not over involved or annoying. My mom had the grilled salmon and I ordered them the bronzed salmon (jalapeno & lime seasoning). We both agreed that are meals were fine, but just that. Nothing more and nothing less. While the service from our waiter was great, give the quality of the food for the price (most entrees were in the $20 range) I don't think I'd bother coming back...

the best seared ahi tuna salad! A lot of veggies, right amount of dressing. And excellent service too.

Such a disappointing dining experience. I found this restaurant on Open Table and the menu looked great and the reviews were awesome - the dining experience was exactly the opposite. The waiter took 10 minutes to greet us then he messed up one of our dinner orders. I had the risotto and when it arrived it looked like it had been sitting under the heat lamp for way too long. It was ok, I wouldn't order it again. And finally, I booked my reservation through Open Table and the front desk never checked me in so I didn't get credit for dining there. The whole thing was a complete miss. Would rather spend my money elsewhere.

I m in love with the happy hour here . You can't find anywhere else with good food and great atmosphere. My husband loves the dynamite Shrimp and it's only $4 if I m right .... You can't beat that !!!

Been coming here for years. The happy hour is great. Definitely get your money's worth. Service is very good, knowledgeable and friendly. Great atmosphere for a larger party or a more personal experience with a date. Would recommend for anyone looking for a casual dining experience.

I would give this place 2.5 stars if I could. The drinks were good, the environment is nice (not too noisy!), but I wasn't impressed with the food. My friends ordered oysters, some sort of giant fish (snapper?), and a salmon ceasar salad. I ordered the salmon pasta (I wish I remembered the names of the dishes...). My friends didn't complain about their food, and they did get a good portion of fish for the price, except for the salad, which could have had more salmon. I had two very small pieces of extremely dry salmon on my pasta dish, which, although I asked for it without mushrooms, had mushrooms on it. The pasta sauce was cheese based, and it wasn't bad, but there was nothing special about it. There were way too many capers, and the onions were very under cooked. For $18, I was not at all satisfied. However, the restaurant itself is nice, and I had a delicious Moscow Mule. Their beer selection rotates, and it did have all of my favorite beers, too! I didn't see the happy hour prices, but hopefully they were a discount. I'd come here for drinks if they happy hour deals are good, but I wouldn't come here to eat again.

Came in for a lunch and was rather disappointed. The restaurant itself is very nice inside. Very large, ample seating, and a pretty cozy feel. Unfortunately the food didn't accompany the looks. I ordered myself a fish sandwich and everything was just very "plain." The grilled fish patty seemed proportionately smaller than the bun, the fries were unsalted, and the seasoning on the fish was bland. My wife had their fish tacos and she echoed the same "boring" taste sentiments. Don't know if I caught them on a bad day, but I probably won't give this place another shot.

This is a tough one. The Cobb salad was wonderful. Attractive, lots of seafood, two kinds of dressing, etc. The skewered prawns were way undercooked and were sent back to be replaced by salmon. Alas, that was raw in the middle. We sent that back too, then just split the Cobb. Very good service. Nice looking place.

Great atmosphere. Friend had the Halibut fish and chips "were pretty damn good. " I had the crab stuffed Mahi Mahi.."delicious". Attentive wait staff. Try the pomagrantie margarita.....could hace had three!!!!

We were looking for a new seafood restaurant in the area and thought we would give it a try. We came later in the evening so it was pretty quiet and we were served quickly. Wait staff was very nice, probably the best part of the experience. The Oyster shooter for appetizers was really good! HUGE oysters. I got the Jalapeño popper cocktail and my husband got beer. He didn't like that they didn't have a beer list but they had all the wine and cocktails listed. I ordered the pan fried oysters for my meal. The rice was the best part unfortunately. Oysters were large but absolutely no flavor. Not a good item to be fried. The manager was kind and gave us a credit for the oysters I didn't eat after I told him my complaint. Husband got the salmon BLT. Plain. Bread was too big and hard for the type of sandwich. Overall the experience was good and we liked the atmosphere but the food was just ordinary and we probably won't be back for dinner.

This is one of our favorite Woodinville places to eat--in fact, we get takeout from Big Fish 3 or 4 times a month. The Seafood Cobb salad is fantastic, it is loaded with fresh, well prepared seafood (not over-cooked as is so often the case) and with a serving so generous it can serve me for 2 dinners at times. The mood is happy, the bar is always full, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unpretentious, just very good food at reasonable prices. Thanks for being one of our regular favorites!

I give the Big Fish Grill a B+. The food is always very good. The waiters tend to be young, and service can occasionally be inconsistent, but is generally good. The prices are good considering the quality of the food. Overall, an excellent value. I wouldn't risk it for special occasion dining, but it's a good fit for a nice meal before going out to see a movie.

Happy hour is the worst time you can go to this restaurant. Seriously. The yuppie, white privileged Redmond-ites seem to migrate here during the week and especially Friday and Saturday. They are obnoxiously loud and none of the women can keep a handle on their wine. The men who accompany these ladies just want to get a piece so they encourage their over drinking. The first time I went during happy hour, I was actually on a nice date with my girlfriend. We thought we would indulge a little and try this restaurant out. The food was outstanding, the drinks were off the charts but we were seated near a group of Redmond-ites that seemed to only go out once in a blue moon and get as sloshed as they possibly can. The obnoxious laughing, belching (yes, belching) and the constant table slapping drove me nuts. Then after they left, another older couple was arguing about President Obama. It never ends. The waitresses are young, vibrant girls who love to smile which makes this place barely tolerable during happy hour.

Tried Big Fish for the first time tonight. We had the bronzed salmon, seared ahi, a couple salads and a shrimp appetizer. Everything was good to excellent and portions were great. Service was also excellent, waiter was very friendly and also very forthcoming about which fish was truly fresh vs frozen and what type of salmon they were serving (as a sport fisherman for salmon, I'm kind of a stickler on this.) Food arrived, drinks refilled, used plates and silverware removed with hardly a notice, granted that may have something to do with us visiting on a slow tue. evening. I will admit I was suspect going in, decent seafood in Woodinville? nawww,! but I was presently surprised and feel Big Fish is a great addition to the neighborhood.

Not really very good . Quesadilla with crab and shrimp. Tasted fishy.. Did not get ice in our water. Probably should have ordered a salad. Not fresh. Our waiter was nice but we needed water With Ice....it was expensive too...

Yes, I know you are asking me why I have been here 3 times and it totally sucks...well I have a friend who gets their coupons and she likes to go. So, when I go to lunch with this dear friend we go here. BUT! No more this place sucks and the jerk waiter that we always seem to get is getting more obnoxious. However, after this pitiful lunch she finally agreed. This is the last time. Service is awful. No offer of bread, no mention of daily specials or soup. We had to ask him when I heard someone ask about the specials. His personality is rude, and it feels like we are bothering him when we ask for basic things. I asked him about the oysters on the menu. His vague response was "well, they are local'. No Sh**? i thought maybe they would be from Denver...Needless to say I passed. Pathetic and an embarrassment to the Kirkland Big Fish. Manager needs to do something. Fast.

Decent prices, not too loud or too crowded, excellent service (why is everyone smiling?) and possibly the best Seafood Cobb salad on the planet.

This place. Amazing. Fast and friendly service. The fish I'm the fish tacos just melt in your mouth. The Parmesan halibut had some really good sauce. Even the vegetables were seasoned very well. Actually, everything is seasoned perfectly. It's only a bit expensive but worth a nice night out.

Overall we really enjoyed our first time here this past weekend. We were in the mood for seafood and didn't want to venture too far so we decided to give it a try! I ordered the crab cakes (3 large to a plate) which were really great. Not the best I've had (Palisades all the way baby!!!) but they were filled with far more crab than breading and came with a nice rice pilaf, plenty of grilled veggies (my favorite!!!) and a great jalapeno-lime aioli sauce. My husband enjoyed the Paella which included all the critters you'd find in the sea along with sausage and chicken all served over saffron rice. He said it was good but way too rich and wasn't able to finish the rice. The service could have been SO much better. I'm not sure if our server was too young (aka. inexperienced) or whether she just wasn't confident in her job. We asked about a dish and she had to ask her kitchen how it was prepared (leaving the table, in the middle of taking our order to do so) or that we have to ask twice for a refill on a drink and to have your plates cleared...that's never a good sign. I felt it was a bit pricy for the location but because the portions were good, and management (front of house) seemed on top of their game, we will probably return.

I came here with some coworkers. I was quite pleasantly surprised at their selection for lunch. Everything sounded so delicious. It was difficult to pick one! My coworkers told me that I cannot go wrong with any of their food and they were not wrong! I chose a blackened seafood wrap. It was loaded with greens and chunks of tilapia and salmon. The portions were just right. Not too much food, but not too little. I was surprised at the amount of food that was loaded on my coworkers' salads. They ordered a Cobb salad and a steak salad. If you are deficient in getting your five servings of fruits an vegetables, that dish will definitely get you caught up. Heard they have a wonderful happy hour. Can't wait to go back and see! The staff was so polite, attentive, and helpful.

The Big Fish Grill is a good local place that make "date night" and easy escape. The food is consistently good - with a pretty diverse menu and seasonal specials. The cost is average for places in Woodinville. The service is ALWAYS excellent. The seafood chopp salad is wonderful!! We typically stop in once a week and always enjoy seeing Julian the bartender/waiter.

The Happy Hour menu was impressive and the prices were very inexpensive. I had fish tacos and clam chowder. The chowder was good . The fish tacos would be better with cabbage over the limp lettuce . Next time I'll ask for it. SC

My family went on Mother's Day so we were there during Sunday brunch hours. It is nice that the brunch comes with a fruit/pastry buffet, although no one at our table had more than one piece of fruit or pastry. Our waitress (Allie) was very pleasant and welcoming. For me personally, I felt the dishes were over priced for the amount/quality of food you receive. Our bill was over $80 for 4 people. We probably won't be back.

Check out this place for Sunday brunch. They have a fruit and pastry table that comes with your order. Our service was friendly and efficient. This was a great change of pace to the normally packed pancake houses.

I want to like this place because it is close, but the food is too inconsistent. At least one dish is over seasoned or the fish is over cooked every time. It is too expensive to not be cooked correctly.

Updated review. Have been back a couple of times since last review. Once in the bar and once in the restaurant. Both times much better service and no rushing us out the door. Food is great! We'll keep coming back.

I do not live in Seattle, so when I come to town I'm in the mood for seafood. This was the perfect choice. I had the cajun oyster po' boy off of the lunch specials' menu. One of the best po' boys I've ever had. Loved the complimentary, fresh, warm sourdough bread as well. If you love seafood and you are near by, you should give it a shot. I believe the have at least 2 other locations.

  • Joey B.

Great happy hour menu, Sunday nights seem pretty vacant. Crab cakes are quite good with the wasabi sauce, though difficult to move to a plate if you're sharing, but very good non the less. Crab Mac & Cheese was rich and delicious, the crab though seemed to just be piled in the middle of the dish instead of being fully distributed, a bit on the pricey side though 20$ you do get a lot and, there is bacon, so it's worth it. Fish tacos were outstanding, 5$ happy hour for two tacos.

Nope. no matter how many times I think it's going to get better, it doesn't. 56.00 for lunch for the husband and I. You'd think we'd learn. My sea bass was super dry...how does that even happen? isn't sea bass the oilest fish in the sea? Anyhow...overpriced, but the staff was great hence the 2 stars

It's a cool venue with good staff and nice cozy bar. But I tried their shrimp dishes on 3 occasions and it always tasted really old or very badly freezer burned. None of the sauce they sautéd it with could mask the old seafood stench. I was hoping for a good seafood place in woodinville. This definitely was not it.

We had guests in town who had a seafood itch and we decided to give the Big Fish Grill a try. We didn't bother with a reservation even though it was a Saturday night and had no trouble getting a table. From the exterior of the restaurant, it looks like it will be a really casual place, but I was a little taken aback by the decor inside which seemed nicer than a typical casual restaurant; I did a quick scan of other patrons and some were dressed more nicely but luckily (just for my own feelings of being appropriate) there were some other parties of casually dressed people. Perhaps because we came a little early for dinner, the service at the beginning was a little slow. After the hostess left us at the table, no one came over to let us know they'd be our waiter or drop off some water for quite some time. Once we did get a waiter, they seemed fine and filled us in on the freshness of the fish and he was able to answer our questions about the menu. The drinks we ordered didn't come on their own, we had to remind the staff that we ordered drinks after they had already brought bread and butter and we had almost finished our appetizers... The food portions were much larger than I expected too (a plus!). The salads were on HUGE plates and they didn't skimp on the toppings. I ordered the crab macaroni and cheese and expected it to arrive in a larger soup bowl, but it was in a bowl that had a good 8" or so in diameter with a nice amount of crab stacked in the middle. I personally wasn't a huge fan of it just because there was a really overpowering smokey flavor (maybe from the bacon? no clue) and I just wish the flavors were more clean. The rest of the party seemed to enjoy their food... and there was definitely plenty! My personal experience there was probably more like a 2.5, but everyone else seemed more pleased than me so I'll round it up to a 3. I think, though, if I had ordered something different and it didn't disappoint there's potential for me to like this place more... with all the mixed reviews, I'm just not sure what an excellent dish would be to try!

My husband and I wanted to try something different, so we decided to give the Big Fish a shot. The menu is huge, lots of choices. We got fried calamari for appetizer and it was ok, not great. There was not a lot of taste on it. Seemed like they just added the tempura and calamari and fried it without any extra seasoning. We shared the fish tacos, what was good, but there was a small portion of a tasteless black beans with cheese on top of it. The salmon was good, but the asparagus and rice were also tasteless!!! It was just a stemmed rice and what made it possible to eat was that the salmon was on top of it adding some taste. We just had too many tasteless food for a meal and we were disappointed!! The waitress was so so. Fake smile and short in patience. Based in the quality of the food, it was totally overpriced. Now we know why it was almost empty in a Saturday night. We are definitely not coming back here!

We stopped in for drinks and Mathew the bartender was awesome! Friendly professional laid back service was such a refreshing change. Tried a new drink that is slightly sweet with a hint of strawberry then medium spicy on the back end. Worth trying! Mathew said he'd buy dinner for anyone who can come up with a name that sticks for the cocktail. Apparently strawberry monkey is questionable?

Awful service. Way overpriced. We showed up about 6pm and it was not too busy. We waited 45 minutes to be seated and were put at a table next to the kitchen. We waited another 45 minutes and were not even offered water. We were unable to catch the attention of the waiter. The food was not cooked well. I ordered a sirloin (I'm not a big fish fan) cooked medium rare. It was medium well and tough, but I decided not to ruin the evening for my wife and daughter and kept my mouth shut. My wife's fish was ok, but not great. My daughter ordered mac and cheese, and it came after the other 2 meals were served, which meant my wife and I ate cold food. The mac and cheese had no seasoning and was bland. The menu said $5, but we were charged $17 for it - not sure why. Our daughter ordered the double chocolate brownie for dessert, and the brownie was burnt. My wife had marionberry cobbler and the sauce tasted canned. I had the key lime pie, but it was actually lemon pie. I finally had enough and complained to the waiter. The manager came over and was a bit rude. She did offer us a gift certificate for $25 to make up for the burnt dessert and the overcharge of the mac and cheese - but we threw it away as we vowed we would never go back.

a bit pricey and definitely not a lot of bang for the buck. hospitality was so so, and I never had that I can't wait to come here again feeling. I really really want it till like this place but in the end was a little disappointed. I wish them well here in woodinville and hope that they can gain the consistency the bellevue / kirkland location has. I am really glad they are here in woodinville.

We went to this restaurant for my daughters birthday we had a party of 6 adults and 3 kids the food was fantastic, if you are in the mood for curry, the coconut curry chicken dish is really good, the house salad is good too. Food is fresh and presented nicely, my only gripe is the service was slow took a long time for our waiter to get to us, on several occasions, we had to get the attention of other waiters passing by to get help or ask for something. Overall good food fair service a little pricey.

  • Brenda A.

The ambiance of the restaurant looks a bit dated. I've been here three times, and I've had decent food 2/3 times. I say decent, not excellent. However, it's close, convenient, and not terrible. And their drinks are not made weak. I've never had a problem with the service.

Good food but pretty slow. People really take their time eating at this restaurant! Alie was our server and she was great! Very friendly and fun. Fish and chips were excellent. Scallops were very good. A big pricey given the overall atmosphere.

3.5 stars Came here for dinner with a friend. We needed a place on the Eastside that particular day so we selected this for my love of seafood. We had a nice enough time. For the appetizer, we ordered crab cakes. They came with a great sauce. Unfortunately, they weren't very crabby. There was a whole lot of other stuff. The sour dough bread was great. It was sour, yet crispy and nice and warm. For entrees, he had the turbot with rice, asparagus and a sauce I don't remember (sorry website appears to be down right now). He said it was good but that the fish could't be eaten with the rice directly because the flavors were too similar. I didn't think his plate looked super attractive either. I originally wanted the trio of the day: it had a monkfish, trout and pork tenderloin. My face fell when he said pork. The waiter said they could substitute it with more monkfish but then it wouldn't really be a trio would it? They wouldn't substituted it with a 3rd seafood. Sad. I was still deciding between that and the scallops with pesto and saffron rice and the waiter recommended the scallops "by far". The scallop dish was quite yum except that the pesto reminded me of Costco pesto. Otherwise, they were seared nicely and the rice was flavorful. We also ordered a bottle of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc which the waiter recommended and was enjoyable. They brought it with a container to keep it cold and I can appreciate little details like this. Our server was very nice and the manager came by to check on us as well. I think this is a good addition to Woodinville restaurants. I really liked the menu because there was tons of seafood. I wouldn't really go out of my way from Seattle for it again, but I would return if I were in the area looking for a seafood restaurant.

This place just isn't getting better. Ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta. The seafood was so over cooked it could bounce. The asparagus tasted like it came from the ice age. My friends meal came with bread that should have been toasted, but ended up just being soggy with day old grease trap drippings that was supposed to be butter. This is the 3rd time I've tried this place and is been between mediocre and bad on all 3 occasions. I give up. Eat at your own risk

I usually get the oyster shooters and paella. These are my favorite dishes at Big Fish. I also enjoy their happy hour and they don't force you to buy a drink. At happy hour, I usually get the clam chowder, steak quesadilla and fish tacos. All delicious. I have never had a problem with service.

We've been here 1/2 a dozen times, maybe more. Three of those times we were in the bar, which, IMO, is grossly understaffed. That poor bartender was doing drinks for the entire restaurant and servicing all the tables. Still, he rocked it and I tipped him out 50% as I was just having iced tea that day and not cocktails. We have never been during a dinner rush and are always promptly seated. Love the warm bread and butter and the lunch specials - the halibut tacos are fantastic and I think they have the best sweet potato fries ever (you can sub them for the chips in Fish & Chips). What I truly, honestly and deeply appreciate is their very reasonable $5 kids menu. It makes it easier to justify a more expensive entrée or a second glass of wine or cocktail...the fact that my son ASKS to go here instead of fast food is even better!

My husband and I came here yesterday for lunch before seeing a movie. We found it to be a bit pricey even with the "bruch buffet" (consisting of some awkwardly cut fruit, a messy plate of cubed cheese and various other store-bought pastries). We were brought a basket of 2 of their "beignets" (which looked not even remotely like beignets, more like little flat rectangles with powdered sugar), one of which had a hair on it. Ugh. Lunch came and it was pretty good - my husband enjoyed the halibut fish & chips, and I had the scallop/shrimp pesto fettucine. Not bad, but way overpriced for 4 medium-sized shrimp and three smallish scallops ($18). The pesto tasted fresh and reminded me of what I make at home. Service was attentive and pleasant - no complaints there. Decor was pretty awful in the dining room - reminded me of a hotel restaurant. The bar area seemed a bit more upscale though. Overall, this place is way overpriced for the area and for the food - $50 with tip for lunch for two and no alcohol. Not sure that I'd come back - Bonefish Grill is better and closer to home.

Happy Hour at Big Fish Grill last night. OMG ! soooooo good. They have added quite a few new happy hour menu items since my last visit. The food is the BEST in woodinville, in my opinion. Had the Ahi Tuna, pork sliders, chowder and prawns. husband & I shared, couldn't eat all that myself ! all the flavors and seasonings they use are amazing. still too expensive for us to have dinner there, but the happy hour sure is a treat. The portion size for the price, was an excellent value. FABULOUS !!

Came here a few times for business lunches, they have lost a customer since this past Saturday. Came in for happy hour no one even greeted us.The people who came in after us got greeted and seated first. If you want to be discriminated this is the place to go. No one even let us know when a table will come available, so I came up to the front and let the gal know I will not be returning and will write a review of how we were treated. She rolled her eyes gave me a dirty look and said nothing. I support local businesses but they will not be getting my repeat business unless they improve their service. It's a shame how big fish treats some of their customers.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Big Fish Grill in Woodinville across from Moback's. I called in our dinner reservations - nice booth by the window with the fireplace just 15 feet away. Nice ambiance for a romantic dinner. Their seafood menu was very broad with local seafood offered as well. Both of us tried their scallops dishes. We started off with the spicy Tempura shrimp appetizer which my wife just ranted on. It was very delicious. For my main dish, I ordered one of their featured offerings for the night - bacon-wrapped large scallops with brown rice and grilled tender asparagus. The food was superbly cooked - my scallops melted in my mouth like butter and the bacon just added another flavor dimension to every bite. The asparagus was delicious and not one fibrous bite. As I looked at our plates, the chef had carefully prepared our plates. Both plates presented the dishes attractively just like we were being served on "Top Chef." We enjoyed their martini's and mojito's as well. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. He know his menu and personally recommended his favorite - the bacon-wrapped scallops. I left him the largest tip I have ever given. That is how good the service was. If you're not a fish lover, IIRC, you can order poultry, beef, and flat steak dishes as well. It's a classy casual kind of environment, not for the T-shirt and jeans types - one notch up. This was the best dinner experience I have enjoyed in decades. If you are an avid fish lover, the Big Fish Grill is definitely a restaurant to visit. They also have another location in Kirkland if that is closer for you. We will return!

My first time here at this "newer" Big Fish. This is a smaller restaurant but good size. The bar area is cozy and welcoming. I like the HH here. Service: Very good Food: Good Price: Fair It's a perfect place for a after movie bite.

This place was okay. Friendly staff. Decent food. A little pricey, but our dish was pretty big (way more than enough for two people). We got the crab mac and cheese and we both got the Minestrone soup (okay). Not on my priority list to return, but better than I expected it to be.

We'd driven from Portland to visit friends and, when it was time to dine, we stopped at the Big Fish Grill. Parking was more than adequate. I enjoyed my minestrone soup, and my wife was pleased with her clam chowder. My halibut parmesan with capers on a bed of rice was different, very tasty, and my wife enjoyed her mahi mahi fish tacos. We could hear each other easily in conversation, and the service was attentive and friendly. We'll return to the area, since our friends live nearby, and I look forward to revisiting the Big Fish Grill again.

Following a matinee movie, my husband and I dropped by Big Fish Grill. (The commercial before the movie tempted me!) Long story short: friendly staff, classy and clean ambiance, quality food, pricey dishes. We showed up about 4:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and it was nice and quiet. We didn't feel rushed as the dinner crowd started to pick up. I was hungry and almost ordered an appetizer, but the $11 price point average made me hold up. My husband started with a glass of Pino Gris and a caesar salad (which was pretty big for a starter salad). I started with the soup of the day: creamy avocado and bacon. It wasn't as good as I was hoping it was going to be - kinda like hot guacamole. But not too bad; I ate the whole thing. I had the Bronzed Salmon ($21): wild salmon with a jalapeño lime sauce. There was a crust of some herb. Very tasty! I was happy to see a little salmon variety on the menu beyond grilled. My husband had the cedar plank salmon ($20). I had a taste of it - very good. A little pricey, but I'm happy to pay it for a quality piece of salmon. I'll save Big Fish Grill for a special treat when I want fish cooked right.

Big Fish Grill is a welcome addition to Woodinville. I would recommend them for Happy Hour since their regular menu can be a little pricey. When i came to visit this location, it was pretty dead. The bartender was nice though and had good recommendations for wine.

I took my family of five there and we had made reservations. We showed up early and they were able to accommodate right away! We sat down and although we had to sit by the kitchen because the place is kinda small and hard to accommodate five. The service was good and the food great! Pretty pricey though! But how do you put a price on a good time!

We have never been disappointed with food or service...we have 4 favorite places to eat; Paseo, Saigon Deli, Izzumi's and Big Fish in Woodinville...for VERY SPECIAL OCCASIONS we treat ourselves to Canlis and the Met Grill. We consider ourselves to be really good cooks and when we want to treat ourselves we go to places that are reasonable or places where we can't do better at home!

My friends took me here for a birthday lunch. There are a few other locations in the Seattle area, so as a chain restaurant, it was pretty good. The service was outstanding - best I've had in a while. Attentive and friendly, but not intrusive. They even comped my dessert because our waiter overheard that it was my birthday. I had the fried oysters, which were good and my friends had salads which they were happy with. (personally, when I return, I'll order a salad, with the dressing on the side, as the kitchen was a little heavy handed with the dressing) The best was the key lime pie! So, so good. I'll come back with my family just for this!

So the family went to eat here last night and we had high hopes. Sadly it was a bust from the get go. So we start off with the steamers appetizer. I'm a big fan of clams and I've eaten them all over the US. When they came they were warm, my expectations of steamers based on my experiences with great restaurants, is that they come out piping hot and sitting in the broth. Instead they came out piled up in an undersized bowl, and they were cooling rapidly. Nitpicky, I know. The next thing I noticed was that there were a couple of the shells broken. I didn't really think this was a big deal until I bit into shell after shell after shell. I called the server over and told him I was sending it back due to the shells. He begins to tell me that sometimes there is sand in clams. It took a lot to keep me from putting this kid on blast in front of the restaurant. I was a server for a few years and not once did I question the diner. You say "sorry" and take it back; it's no skin off your back. After that I was just kind of irritated. I should have known this place was trouble when the server described halibut filet as a "delicacy". Moving on. Our meals arrive. Mine is cooked perfectly, my wife's is salmon jerky. We also both asked for double vegetables and no rice. Mine came with rice. I shrugged it off and enjoyed my delicacy and watched my wife struggle. Her fish supposedly came with a basil butter sauce but it wasn't anywhere to be found, so we asked for a side of it. That made it much better apparently. Although my opinion is that you shouldn't need a damn thing to make a nice piece of fish palatable. At one point the manager came over and asked about the steamers and I told him there were broken shells and I didn't want to pay for it. He was a bit impotent and just kind of awkwardly walked off. So I left a mediocre tip for the mediocre service and food and got out of there ne'r to return. This is a fish house that doesn't appear to know how to serve fish. Take your chances, I hope your experience is better than mine!

I went to Big Fish this last weekend for Happy Hour with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday and I was very impressed with the HH menu. I really enjoyed the fish tacos and the dynamite shrimp. My girlfriend and I ate our fill and got a drink each for around $20 which was a definite plus. Almost everybody in our group concluded that we would be coming back! The only reason it does not get 5-stars is because the HH menu was only food. Note to Big Fish: please put a few cocktails and tap beers on the HH menu to complete an already great happy hour! Regardless of the one setback, I would definitely recommend Big Fish Grill for happy hour. I will be making my return appearance in the very near future!

Stopped here after seeing a late matinee on a Sunday evening, and was pleasantly surprised. We walked in and the placed was moderately busy, and we were escorted to an empty seating area on the opposite side. My SO had suspicions that they would completely forgot about us, as this has happened to us more often than not at other establishments. But, he was totally wrong. Within minutes, if not seconds, our waters were being filled, a manager ( I presumed), told us our server would be with us shortly, and, well, she did. We continued to have superior customer service throughout our time there. And yes, our dinners were tasty. I take that back, I enjoyed my meal slightly more than the beau, but he ordered the swordfish, which is always risky, since most people tend to over cook it, and I guess here they did. He devoured it anyway, and everything else on the plate (grilled asparagus and rice). I believe I had the crab and cheese stuffed shrimp plate, and it was really good and generously portioned. This is definitely a good place for families, large parties, and couples. It's not a romantic, posh spot at all. It has an almost vintage look and feel to it, very casual and informal. The prices are decent to moderate and the parking is plentiful.

Some fellow Yelpers give the Big Fish well deserved good comments about their food quality and good service but complain about their high prices. My thought here is ya get what ya pay for! Try the halibut fish & chips or taco's - they are fantastic! They offer a great wine selection featuring quite a few of the local wines. This is a great place to stop off for lunch or dinner during your next Woodinville wine tasting day!

I don't like fish, but the group I dined with wanted fish so here I was at a restaurant with a gigantic fish in its logo and the word "fish" in its name, hoping the menu included something good that isn't fish. Non-seafood choices are pretty few here, so seafood-haters be warned. I ordered a cheeseburger, which was of acceptable quality. It wasn't on par with the buttery juiciness of a Red Robin or an Outback burger, but I was just grateful they had SOMETHING. My group, however, thought their fish dishes and appetizers were awesome. Big Fish has a few large TVs , which I found distracting, but the overall atmosphere was fairly quiet. Overall the experience was good, and probably pretty great if you like fish.

I really wanted to like Big Fish because it's so close to my place. It'd be nice to be able to walk somewhere besides Red Robin or Qdoba. The ambiance for me was just kind of plain and not overly exciting, just not cozy at all. The service was attentive and polite, for that I give 4 stars. My two star rating is for the food. It was extremely overpriced for what you got and just not tasty at all. I got the salmon blt and my date got the paella. My blt was $13 but the fish had no flavor, and I couldn't even taste the bacon... how can you not taste bacon!? The Caesar side salad I got was $5! And it was so garlicky it took me over 24hrs to get the taste out of my mouth. My dates paella was a joke for $18. Yellow rice... like 4 clams and two shrimp. He hardly ate any of it. What can I say... I won't be back :(

  • A B.

Great The only reason I didn't give them a five star was because I didn't expect Big Fish to have Big prices. It looked like it would be a place to get fish and chips for a decent price and well I just wasn't expecting the prices. Other than that; Services was great, we didn't go on a busy day and our glasses were kept full, the calamari starter is great and was recommended by our waitress, and our dinner was pretty good too. Like I said I just wasn't expecting the bill.

My son and I stopped for lunch on a Saturday while we were out and about. We love to try new restaurants. The restaurant has a nice ambience and the people were welcoming. The prices were a higher than what I was expecting. I was expecting the restaurant to be a casual restaurant but this is a defintely a higher end restaurant. Since my son and I were in jeans and t-shirts, we almost felt out of place. We both order pasta dishes. My son's was excellent! However, mine was not. the prawns and I had were VERY salty and the scallops were nice and brown on one side and almost black on the other. The pasta and sauce were just OK. It didn't make up for the seafood. If I had ordered the same dish as my son, then I would have given the restaurant more stars.

Unfortunately, as with many restaurants that start off well, this one has fallen way down and I can no longer recommend it. The slippage started and then it was a quick downhill from there. First we noticed that all of the great waitpersons disappeared and were replaced by younger and less experienced people. No big deal in itself, but it was a sign of more bad things to come. Next was the downfall of the food quality and quantity. Many of the dishes were redone and downsized. On my last 3-4 visits, had to send something back every time for being a mess--like a filet mignon turned to leather it was so well done (and that's hard to do!), and a salmon fillet that was so black on the underside I couldn't even cut through it with a knife!! Complete salmon jerky with a literally burned bottom, covered up by being turned over to cover it, and then with sauce over that. Totally inedible. The final straw was when I called to talk to a manager about yet another meal debacle and was promised a call back that never came. Okay, no problem, and no more of our patronage. I would now have to say don't bother with this place. The service and food have fallen badly, and you will be lucky if your food comes out correctly done or even edible. This is disappointing as we were eating here about once a week, at least. Hope they see the light before they have to close the doors....

I've never had a bad meal here. Great for lunch, dinner, or happy hour. The food is a little expensive for what you get but it tastes good, is well presented, and I've always had great service so you're not getting ripped off. I'm a big fan of the Ahi Tuna on the happy hour menu. Some of the other items are hit and miss. The dinner entrees are always a winner. Last time I had the macaroni and cheese with crab and a salmon with jalapeno-lime sauce. Both were delicious! We try to save a little room for dessert and have a couple of the cobbler-type desserts. They were good but not amazing. Pretty good wine selection and I love that they offer a nice selection of local spirits. Yes, there are distilleries in Woodinville and they are awesome! Best part of this place for me has always been the service. The staff is always very friendly and attentive and will go out of their way to make you have an enjoyable experience.

Hoping that you'll get to this review before you discount this place due to the other 2 star reviews. First of all, this place is pretty nice - a change from all the other casual dining options in Woodinville. Secondly, the staff problems that seemed to plague them in the beginning (last month?) seem to have been resolved. We were seated quickly and waited on efficiently and patiently. The food was plentiful, fresh and well cooked. Everyone was happy with what they got (Fish Tacos, Grilled Prawns & Fettucini, Salmon, Coffee Crusted Tuna, Halibut Cheeks). The rave review was for the bacon on the Salmon BLT. We also had the Calamari and Artichoke & Spinach dip that we polished off pretty quickly. I'd choose Big Fish over Bonefish the next time I want someone else to cook my seafood. For a table of 6 with drinks we spent about $60 a couple (gratuity included), not more than you'd expect for a middle of the road seafood restaurant. I'd go back, I'd bring friends and they do gluten free!

The appetizers we ordered, crab cakes and coconut shrimp, were tasty but overpriced. The Ahi Tuna Salad was horrible. The tuna was dry and covered in a sweet mustard sauce. My fiances fish was over breaded and over cooked. If you decide to eat here keep your expectations low.

My husband and I have been frequenting the late night happy hour and love the great appetizers on the menu as well as the terrific bartender Julian, who makes the place that much better. I just introduced a good friend of mine to lunch here and she was very impressed with her chicken salad. I cant quit thinking about the chicken picatta -it is delish! If you were here before and didn't like it - GO BACK. It's really evolving into a great place!

Wow, sorry about the guest who works at Top Food and Drug, and hope you can get your grammar issue worked out. I have been waiting for this place to open for weeks because as you know, there is nowhere to eat in Woodinville with just traditional restaurant food. And it delivered! The Paella was the best ever tasted. The fish tacos were excellent. Our waitress, Maria, was one of the best wait people I have ever encountered. The ambiance is awesome and offsets some of the hillbilly joints in this town. My only complaint: the manager/bartender talking WAY too loud about how well he is going to run the place. Use your indoor voice honey.

Well I came here for a daddy day dinner n because I was craving some fish-n-chips. The service was good, the food was excellent, n they were super duper fast....I mean my in-laws ordered a cup of clam chowder n they literally took only a couple spoonfuls of it when our entrees arrived. Literally we weren't even in the restaurant more than 15mins n we were already eating our food...u gotta love that!!!

Here we go: Together with my fiancé we went out to dinner and since we walked by "Big Fish" so many times we wanted to try it. We were hungry :) Although the prices are high we gave it a try. It was so disappointing! SMALL portions and OVERPRICED ! I ended up eating the bread and butter because I was sooo hungry. Bottom line, we ended up paying allot of money for mediocrity ! We left hungry and will NEVER go back again! Everyone works hard for their money, I recommend you spend it somewhere else!

The Woodinville Big Fish Grill is one of our favorite local restaurants which has excellent service and decent seafood. My favorite is a salad combined with the crab cakes appetizer. Check out the Happy Hour, good seafood selection and a full bar.

First visit was kinda by accident since we thought we were going to Ruby's Diner. I had not been able to eat for 24 hours due to a "procedure" (you +50 folks can guess) so I was starving. We didn't have to wait at all; it was early for dinner, but we were seated and provided the best bread immediately. I had their salad with very fresh ingredients that was absolutely delicious. And I've had it again when I wasn't starving, so it wasn't that! My husband had the halibut tacos which he raved over as well. We have been back several more times. The biggest party we had was for my daughter's birthday with 10 of us and a 2 year old. The server was so sweet and understanding that a toddler doesn't have the best (or any) table manners. All the choices made were deemed wonderful and that's saying alot since my daughter is quite the "foodie". Prices are reasonable for the quality. I have been to many others that charge more for much less. Great addition to Woodinville dining.

The other mixed reviews pretty much represent our feelings. We stopped in for a late (2pm) lunch. Service was slow, food was slow, they couldn't make part of what we ordered until after the rest of the meal was done. Food was okay (not superb but quite edible), service was friendly and even the manager came to apologize about the snafu with our order. Nothing about the experience makes us want to go back, but nothing was so bad that we'd avoid it if we were in the area and hungry.

The service is very friendly, but I ordered the salmon and it's pretty much just overpriced cafeteria food. I just wanted simple salmon and I got overdone fish with far too much lemon and pepper. My son's chicken tenders seemed pretty top though - I kinda wanted to trade!

This was our first visit to the Woodinville Big Fish. We visited at about 4pm on a Monday. We shared the Dynamite Shrimp and Fish Tacos from the Happy Hour menu and the Shrimp and Scallop Risotto off of the dinner menu. The happy hour food was ok. Nothing too exciting but not bad either. The rough spot was the risotto. This is unfortunate because I love risotto. It was very soupy (too much cream), the scallops under cooked and the whole dish had a strong after taste. (Too much tarragon or something) The best part of meal was the Mojito, which was excellent.

Seafood is my favorite, and I am never disappointed when I come here! I eat seafood almost every day, I can't get enough. When I want excellent prepared seafood I come to the Big Fish. My all-time favorite dish here is the bronzed salmon. I love spice and it has a tasty Cajun spice crust (also known as "blackened") with a mouth watering jalapeño lime buerre Blanc sauce. I have eaten here countless times and I have never been disappointed. I am also a huge fan of their salads! They are HUGE and fresh. Their happy hour is incredible. Prices range from $3 to $6 and you get a legit portion for such a low price. I love it. The bar is always busy during peak happy hour times, needless to say why ^^^ and the main bartender I see a lot rocks, he knows what he is doing. I eat out a lot and I have been to many overpriced restaurants. This is NOT one of them. I am so happy to pay these prices for what I get to eat. (Infact they could probably charge more for some dishes when comparing to other seafood places.) I read some other comments below about people saying $11 appetizer too expensive and prices a little steep...have they ever been out to eat before??? LOL clearly this is not the Red Lobster or Skipper's. I am perfectly happy with their food, prices, and staff (did I mention their really friendly staff!?) :)

I always feel bad about writing negative restaurant reviews-both because I used to be a waitress and so tend to be ultra-forgiving of mistakes in service, and because I realize the impact that a negative review can have on a local business. With that said, in this case the experience was just so overwhelmingly poor that I felt compelled to share... 3 of us came in for a late lunch on a Sunday-the restaurant was pretty empty-maybe 5 other tables or so. Things started off OK,and our appetizers arrived quickly. The appetizers were OK-nothing special, but nothing wrong either. The problem here was really the slow service after the appetizers. It took nearly 45 minutes from getting our appetizers to getting our main courses. During this 45 minute time span, there were no water or ice tea refills until one of us went to check on our food order. Somehow, as soon we checked on our food order, a few people were available to give us beverages and our food arrived almost immediately. 2 of us had salmon in our dishes-and we'd been told that the salmon would be done medium rare. When it arrived, it was very well done, i.e. overdone and dry. My suspicion is that the order was forgotten and left under the heat lamp. After getting our food, the service went back to being OK until we finished. After we got the bill though, we waited another 15 minutes or so, and nobody took our payment. We had to leave the table and go to the front to get someone to take payment. The only reason that the restaurant gets 2 stars is that it has a decent wine and beer list, and-if service were better-a decent atmosphere.

Ok food. Ordered the risotto with salmon, dry and more like soup. Incredibly slow service. Bring a book. Also they to bunch up customers next to each other, even when it is relatively empty. This does not speed things up service wise.

My husband and I like the Happy Hour here. I am not a fan of large servings as I tend to eat too much. With the Happy Hour here, I get smaller sized, tasty, less expensive meals. I had a quesadilla and salad for $8 plus the cost of a drink and my husband had a generous sized portion of fish and Chips for $4. The drinks don't seem to be a great deal though even during HH... my margarita was $6.50. I didn't leave with that yucky full feeling and it all tasted yummy. I did glance at the prices for regular dinner meals and it does look expensive. We have gone here twice now for Happy Hour and will go back again soon- but we'll likely stick with the Happy Hour menu.

We stopped in today for lunch after doing some wine tasting in Woodinville. They have a solid menu. Three of us ordered Cioppino, Ahi Tuna, and the Crab & Shrimp Louie Salad. All were generous portions and the taste was very good. We also split a brownie/ice cream dessert. Bill came to about $75 with tip. Not the cheapest, but good value for what we spent. Service was excellent; drinks were kept full and bread kept coming out. All in all, it's a good place to stop if you are in the area.

Went back for Happy Hour and would recommend. Martini was well made! Service has improved alot!! Happy Hour prices make it worthwhile.

After getting my haircut I was feeling hungry , I driven past this place . The restaurant and bar both have warm feel to them . I enjoyed a oyster shooter that was spot on , some dynamite shrimp that is something too common at seafood joints and calm chowder that was great thick full of calm and veggies . The bar there carries a good amount of local product . The big problem I have is the prices I feel its too much for that neck of the woods .

A bit pricey, even for lunch. Nice atmosphere in the bar. Salmon blt was tasty. Good place to stop for a quick bite but appears a bit mediocre for the price. Reminds me of hotel room service.

Oh how disappointing. After Ruby's closed, I eagerly awaited a civilized, sit-down restaurant and was encouraged after learning it was a local owner (not another chain!!) and featuring seafood. Alas, although I am aware that it is a new place, and there are kinks to be worked out, I must still give this place only two stars, and that is being somewhat kind, I think. The staff were *clearly* inexperienced (hostess seated us inappropriately given the size/nature of our party, and seemed very confused) and although my waitress was a nice girl (while I expect the ladies at the Woodinville Cafe diner to call me "sweetie", I was surprised to hear that from a young waitress at a restaurant that's trying to establish it's reputation) she was obviously new to the game and unable to accommodate a couple of very reasonable requests without getting flustered or flat-out stating she could not do it (really: you can't take an order for a beverage and an app at the same time? hmmmm....). I did see a manager wandering around but he seemed to give a cursory glance and moved about without approaching tables, which was a mistake and missed opportunity, in my mind... I appreciated being seated quickly, but that was overshadowed by the long wait for a glass of water or a greeting from our server. The food was bland, the salmon overcooked, rice *very* oily yet without flavor, chowder far too salty (and let me tell you, I love salt!). Overall, a bummer. And though the price was not outrageous it was not thrifty, either, and I have a hard time swallowing it given the level of service and quality of food served. All that being said, I will wait awhile and give it another whirl before I write it off.

We had big hopes for this one and it was kind of a let down. The place looks great inside, but the food was middle of the road at best. I will say there were a couple good dishes (we went for happy hour so we got to sample a few different things). The Crab Cakes were our fave. The Paella was pretty good too. Steer clear of the Baja Fish Tacos! They were TERRIBLE!!! Whatever oil they use to fry the fish tastes like barf! Also the drinks were spendy and middle of the road for quality. We won't be going back. We looked at the full menu and couldn't fathom spending that kind of money for the food we tasted. On the plus side our waiter (bartender) was nice and the manager was nice enough to take the fish tacos off the bill since we didn't like them.

Brand new and soo good! They were a little overwhelmed with all the business the first night, but have since figured things out. The food is great, albeit a little pricy. But Woodinville needed a place like this - more upscale than anything else. I had the halibut and it was AMAZING. The fish and chips are okay...not the best ever. I would stick with the nicer things. Their clam chowder is great too. All in all I would go here again, but unfortunately it's a bit out of my budget to go here too often.

Tried this place for the first time since it opened in town. Service was OK at best and food was not any better. Limited in menu options and tad on the expensive side for a casual dinner in downtown Woodinville. Not a place I will recommend and not a place I will bring out of town guest either. This was a bit of let down for me as there is not too many places in Woodinville to have a nice dinner.

Food and ambient is as good as it gets in Woodinville, WA. The clam chowder is awesome, the fish is fresh. Overall, a more "upscale" experience than most in the area, downtown Woodinville needs more of this caliber or better yet higher.

Such a disappointment. It took a good 15 minutes for the waiter to even ask if we'd like a beverage, then an additional 45 until my son received his starter salad-right before the entrees came out. We should have left when the table behind us left full plates of pasta behind! The food was ok. Fish and chips were horrible, as well as the kids sliders. The fish tacos were just dry and a bit fishy, without much other flavor. If it was just food or service that was sub-par, I might give it another go, but both were horrible.

We were at the Big Fish Grill earlier tonight and here's my take on the place: 1) The wait staff seemed flustered, over worked, and tired. 2) The calamari was okay. It was over fried, with a bit of an after taste and the sauce was bland. 3) The entree's were excellent. Crab cakes and stuffed crab prawns were very tasty. It's a new, Woodinville needs this type of restaurant and I will definitely go back because the food was very good. Love the prawns!!!

I was so excited for this place to open, but I won't be back. I base this experience on what I normally get from a very popular seafood place on Lake Union. The Big Fish Grill is beautiful on the inside and out, but the food is just a step above your typical national chain type seafood place. Also, the young staff members are not very professional. I expect that when I am finished with my salad they do not suggest I remove my fork for later use....BRING ME A NEW PLACE SETTING!! Reduce your prices by about 30% and I might be back!

I wasn't sure about this place, but I was pleasantly surprised! We ordered the fish and chips halibut and cod. The food was fast, fresh and really good!!! I will totally come back here. In my opinion it was better than some ivars I've been to.

Four of us went for dinner on Saturday. Had great service and an excellent meal. I recommend eating here. It's a quality restaurant when you're in Woodinville. This is my second visit and we plan to return many times. I recommend this as an excellent restaurant and very positive dining experience.

Very disappointing experience. My husband was served a piece of fish that was so raw it was cold, and my salmon was very over-cooked and an extremely small portion. We won't go back.

Had lunch there. Split a Cobb Salad and the Spicy Ahi Tuna. Food was great. Ice Tea was excellent. $44 plus tip for two entrees and two teas. Food and service was what I expect for that price. Generous portions they split each entree for us no extra charge and each plate was a decent portion. Tons of seafood in the Cobb salad with just the right amount of quality dressing. They are reworking the wine list to make it 85% Washington wines. Good selection of local (Woodinville and PNW) hard liquor.

Been here twice. First time was first month of opening. The food was less than average, cold fish. While they apologized it took another 20 minutes to get a different plate. I went back again two months ago.... honestly it was just as bad. I had some fish with rice. Rice was way under cooked, like rocks still. Do they taste anything? Honestly with the prices being high, service at best average and food disappointing we won't go back. I also found that this was the same owner as Newport Grill in Kirkland.... I should have know.... don't care for that place either.

Best Happy Hour in this area, great bartenders and very good happy hour food - The down side is service at lunch, two visits and confusion and slow each time, but with good food.

The service here needs some help. It took forever to get our food. We did love the atmosphere and are so glad to finally have a nicer place to eat in Woodinville. I hope they make some changes fast before they loose customers.

We were so glad to see Ruby's go and a seafood restaurant go in. It is amazing the difference inside, very welcoming decor. We were greeted and seated promptly but the small booth for two was tight. Service was very good. We ordered halibut fish and chips, calamari, fried oysters, and clam chowder. The fish and chips and calamari were good. The calamari was crispy and very tender. The clam chowder was wanting for flavor and it was just too thick with starchiness. I'm still on a search for a clam chowder as good as one I had in Newport, RI. The fried oysters were a soggy mess, worst fried oysters I have ever had. Since the reviews seem to indicate inconsistent quality, we will wait awhile before trying this place again. For above average prices, I expect above average food.

So my wife and I were in area with our kids and were wanted to grab some dinner. The staff was quick to get us into a table and get us high chairs for our two small kids. The waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. All of our meals were great. I just feel that they weren't 22 to 25 dollars great. I feel it was a little over priced, not by much, but still a little over priced.

The Paella is amazing, as is the Chicken Piccata. I have only two complaints about this diamond in the rough: my asparagus arrived burned, quite literally black. No experienced chef should pass such poorly prepared food on to the server- it was so terrible it was all I could think about as I was trying to enjoy my lovely potatoes (really the best mashed potatoes I've ever eaten)! The details DO matter. My second complaint was the music: a terrible selection of 80s and 90s should-not-have-been-hits including Vanilla Ice and Alannah Miles. Distracting, a little disturbing, and very disruptive of this classy seafood restaurant's ambiance. Not really a complaint, but a note of observation: the staff is overrun with very young ladies who, friendly as they were, seemed to be struggling through the Saturday night rush. If I were owner, I would frequent some other restaurants in the area and offer the best and most experienced servers out there a raise to come work for me. Our server forgot twice what we had ordered, and I heard her be a little too short with a customer near us, who was complaining about a dish he'd ordered on four separate occasions and received in fluctuating quality. Anyone who has an inconsistent experience and still comes back is someone to make happy- the man obviously wanted to like his food. She lost him for good, though, I fear, as he and his wife left a few bites into their meal looking very upset with now both the food and the service. I will eat here again, but I won't be as persistent as the other customers on their fourth try at it... So I do hope management can pull it together.

For the moderate to spendy pricing this restaurant is subpar, in my opinion. I ordered a $20 meal and requested to have the rice and cooked vegetables substituted for a side of salad green without dressing or any additives and I was told that they cannot do that. The waitress finally made an exception and allowed me to replace their veggies of the day for plain grilled asparagus. The food was good, but nothing to write home to mom about, and I was really unhappy with upper class restaurant not being accomadating with swapping simple greens for their two side dishes. I would not visit this restaurant again.

What an amazing restaurant! Friendly staff, great service, and fantastic food at a affordable price! If you're in the area and are looking for great spot for a date or just a place to kick back the Big Fish is it!! A++

How great to have a nice sit-down restaurant in Woodinville! Great ambiance, attentive staff and delicious food led to an awesome dining experience. I had the Mahi Mahi fish tacos which were soooooo tasty! Nicely marinated, sauteed fish with very fresh slaw and a good sized slice of avocado topped with tomatoes, a side of salsa with just the right amount of heat and some black beans made for a great dinner. My daughter said the clam chowder was the best she'd had in a long time. The wait staff dealt with my picky-eater son's requests without a blink of the eye. We will definitley be going back again!

Our disappointing experience started the minute we walked in the door. Arriving just before 5 pm to a nearly empty restaurant, the hostess attempted to seat us at a small table way in the back. On request, we were seated at a larger booth near a window. Despite the fact that numerous waiters were slowly circling the dining room like hungry fish in an aquarium full of jello, it took five minutes for our waiter to amble over to our table and offer us drinks. We ordered rather immediately, but our food (an entree salad and chicken piccata) took 25 minutes to arrive. Meanwhile, we were offered bread, but that turned out to be the heel end of a loaf that was also dry and difficult to swallow. The chicken dish was nicely cooked, but the demi-glace was flavorless and overall the meal was a bland disappointment. The chicken in the salad was overcooked, dry and almost inedible. I do give the waiter credit for offering to replace the salad, the chicken in the salad or provide a different meal when informed of the overcooked chicken. At my request, he provided some additional salad dressing that allowed me to finish my meal. The salad in general was unremarkable, consisting of thin slivers of tasteless pears, blue cheese and a very light sprinkling of pecans topped with an uninspired dressing. The general manager was on site and circulated frequently through the dining room, however neither he nor other management staff stopped at customer tables to inquire about their experience, which I would have expected since this is the restaurant's first week open at this location. Although we were not charged for the unsatisfactory salad, I still walked away hungry and will be reluctant to visit this establishment again.

I have lived in Woodinville since 1977. What a joy it is to have a restaurant here that is warm and inviting in it's decor and staff. I have experienced a fantastic selection of fresh seafood with my friends and coworkers. One one visit I asked for their Pan Fried Oysters and asked if they could serve them on their Caesar Salad, it was fantastic. Another visit with my girlfriend. She asked for the Seafood salad without shrimp, she said it was excellent. Nothing left on her plate. I had the Hazelnut encrusted Halibut with orange cream sauce, perfect rice and perfect al dente fresh green beans. I asked for extra orange cream sauce, no problem. My other girlfriend came back into town with her husband and asked if I would like to meet them at Big Fish. Upon arrival she told her husband how much she enjoyed her Chicken dinner. She has a very, very restrictive diet and the waiter accommodated her requests. I said I remember the aroma from your dinner as it was passed by me. I am going to order the same meal. The Chicken had artichoke, capers and tomatoes in a sauce, with mashed potatoes, asparagus, PERFECTION!!!!! My girlfriend had the Salmon with pineapple salsa, rice, vegetable. She said several times it was delicious. During our meal the entire staff was very attentive. The waiter, Jesus, bus person and a gentleman in a suit made us feel comfortable and wanted our dining experience to be perfect. I have experienced a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere and delicious, quality food every time I have dined at Big Fish. It is a joy to share my experiences with you. Thank you for picking Woodinville, we are very fortunate to have you here.

I was hoping I would enjoy Big Fish Grill since it is so close to my house. We went on a Sunday for a late lunch at 1. There were 5 other tables seated in the entire restaurant and it took 45 minutes to get out food...which was luke warm at best. We mentioned the food temperature and they made us more....but it still was not hot....strange. The food itself was decent but way overpriced. I had the fish tacos which would have been better if they were not overseasoned. My Dad got the seafood cobb which appeared to have a lot of good seafood on it, but he said the dressing was plain. My son had the best dish, the kids mac and cheese, which we were glad to see was not easy mac like some places. It was very rich and creamy and made from scratch. If the kitchen and wait staff get their timeing down and if they lower prices by about 30% I think they will have huge improvement in their success.
