Ice Cream Social Menu

Diabetics at Jamba Juice:

Eating good food at the right time can control your blood sugar, also stop you from craving wrong sort of food. Jamba Juice offers drinks in three separate sizes: 16, 24, and 32-ounce. You can choose the lowest serving size and cut down on sugars and calorie intake. If you're diabetic and concerned about the sugar intake, then you can opt for the smaller 9.5-ounce smoothies available for kids at Jamba Juice.

Foods to Avoid at Jamba Juice for Diabetics:

Jamba Juice is primarily known for its highly satisfying and nutritive smoothies and juices. Almost every smoothie and juice item on the Jamba Juice menu contains sugar. Diabetics are recommended to opt for smaller serving size while ordering at Jamba Juice. Also, avoid opting for creamy treats as all the smoothies offered in this category contain a load of sugars.

Keep the sugar content below 50g per meal at Jamba Juice and ensure that you don't follow it with a heavy meal. A small size regular smoothie is equivalent to a meal for everyone. Classic smoothies at Jamba Juice are also heavily loaded with sugars. Stay away from that section if you are a diabetic.

If life has you down and things just aren't going well you might need some love...in a waffle cone. Spend the minutes waiting in line inhaling the fresh cone aroma and contemplating the universe. The people watching is also a great distraction from your day. Choose any flavor. They are all fantastic and there is always a non-dairy choice and some fun, seasonal flavors. Let the creamy goodness soothe your soul. Taste the love? And fresh, local ingredients? Don't you feel better? Take a pint home for emergencies. Get some gift certificates for emergency gift giving. Smile!

This was a wonderful find here in Tacoma. I generally head up to Seattle for ice cream at Lick or Molly Moon's, but my girlfriend found this on Yelp and I was eager to give it a try. We arrived on a hot summer night around 9pm and there was a line out the door. I think we were in line for about 20 minutes but that's no problem because I love ice cream. There parlor had a good amount of seating inside but the area the people were serving from was tiny! I kind of felt bad for them, but the workers made the most out of their little space and were fast, friendly and efficient! Our ice cream tender (not sure if that is even a real term) was wonderful! His customer service was excellent and always had a smile on his face. I had a waffle cone and there wasn't an extra charge for it. :) After we got our ice cream and sat down to enjoy it, we noticed there was still a line and more people were coming. It was around 930pm and this place closes at 10pm. I hope everyone was able to get their ice cream before they closed but felt bad because the 3 workers were operating non-stop. I hope people tipped well! Eager to go again before the summer is over.

This place isn't Molly Moons but it is a close second :) I asked for a single scoop and had them split it between blackberry and chocolate peanut butter. Got it in a waffle cone and the cone I think was my favorite part! Fresh, light, and great texture. The blackberry ice cream was delishhhh. I wasn't too impressed with the chocolate peanut butter... There was like no peanut butter just all chocolate and chocolate chips. Still good but not what I was looking for. A single scoop is more than enough! Ask them to split it for you if you want two flavors :)

Word of advice: these scoops are HUGE. I got a double scoop of Cherry Pie and Lavender and really struggled near the end. However, the flavors were too delicious to pass up - I loved how they were not heavy at all like most ice creams I have. Both of my flavors were among the 4-5 special flavors that change up from time to time. I will definitely be back here for my next ice cream fix, although I'd stick to one scoop. Tips: If you come on your birthday, you get a discount off of your order! Also, we had to wait in a 10-15 minute line on a Monday summer night, which gives you an idea of how popular this place is.

They will let you try as many ice cream flavors as you want without complaining! In fact they encourage it. Nice because there are so many unique flavors I've never heard of. I had the coffee flavor with a brownie

Love their vegan options. The coconut flavors are amazing and will knock your socks off. My favorite is their coconut coffee. Delicious. Their full fat non vegan options are wonderful too, I'm grateful whenever blueberry is on the menu. Flavors sell out fast, but they always have their usual standard as well too. Customer service is top notch. Even if you order one scoop, they allow you to do a split scoop for no charge. And who can resist getting sprinkles for free? Child friendly, family oriented, and great environment for a date. Lots to see on 6th age too, so you can always take it to go too. Pints offered as well. I love how awesome my hair smells after I visit here: like waffle cookies.

Came here for the first time on National Ice Cream Day. The place is tiny and compact...perfect for just grabbing a quick cone! You can also enjoy your treat inside if you wish. They also sell pints to go. They have traditional favors such as vanilla, chocolate, mint chip etc. and then daily they rotate. The rotating flavors seem to be the more unique with choices such as lavender, popcorn, or cherry. They also have vegan options which is fabulous!!! We settled on one scoop (enough to share if you are just looking for a little sweetness) of the mint chocolate chip and I was SO PLEASED that it wasn't green. No food coloring here... Only fresh ingredients! The taste was good and fine, tasted like Dryers or another top shelf store brand. Definitely quality. Would absolutely go back when looking to get ice cream out or to take a pint home!

I never got a chance to taste their ice cream. After 2 emails and 2 phone calls leaving messages, I gave up. I wanted to use them for my grandsons "7th" birthday party. Guess they have so much business they don't need mine. Companies that do not call you back or respond to your emails - no matter how great their product is - will not stay in business. I have already told the 17 parents who were at the birthday party about my experience. Word of mouth can be the best (or worst) advertising for your business.

A quaint little hole in the wall place with delicious ice cream! Not only are the flavors all natural, it's all local! They have excellent everyday choices and the specials do not disappoint! The flavors are clean, crisp, and refreshing; the atmosphere is fun and it's a cute place for ice cream.

Just what 6th Ave needed. If you were to go out for a date night, and have dinner, this is where the night should end. Fantastic young, energetic employees too. The smell of waffle cones draws you in from the street. Keep up the good work.

I was taken back to the UK after a tiny sample of Rose flavored ice cream. For 30 seconds i was in bliss. My mind wondered back to London recalling the time I sipped on rose tea and munched on some fufu sandwiches. I am blown away by Ice Cream Social. Unique flavors that work and taste fantastic. The flavors and quality at Ice Cream Social give me the "wow!" and excited sensation. It is just so good. As a matter of fact, my last trip there I bought 10 pints. (3 Rose, 3 pistachio, 2 buttered pecan, 1 coffee, 1 blueberry lavender). I am a Molly Moon fanatic, but this is definitely competition. It is just as good and maybe even better. There is only one store. If you are in the area give it a try. You won't regret it.

All natural homemade ice cream! this is the best ice cream that I have had since my Nana's home made ice cream. the kids are loving and having fun writing on the chalkboard ! So basically 1 single scoop is like having 2 scoops of ice cream I don't think I am going to finish this ice cream scoop it was only four! I got the peach bourbon ice cream in a fresh waffle cone! My daughter got vanilla with caramel sauce kids scoop that is three dollars. This is the best ice cream was very delicious I will be coming back!!!!

Ice cream social. My first experience here was a while ago and I gotta say it was interesting. It was more of me looking at the menu to see what the got and just observing. The first time there was someone who was really awkward, awkward in the sense of maybe being their first job? Or being new? That didn't deter me from coming back to actually finally taste some of their confections though. I came back and got the Pecan ice cream in the waffle cone.. YUM! It was great! The staff was friendly and I am guessing veterans lol (young guys but you could tell they had probably have been working there for a bit). This place was group and kid friendly, the area is hip and the atmosphere was whimsical with a chalk board wall for kids and big kids (adults)! The cones were fresh, the ice cream was nice and creamy with magnificent taste of pecan and Carmel. By taste only you can tell this isn't that store bought mess. Move over Ben and Jerry! For movie nights and PMS ice cream social's got my back!

We have LOVED every flavor we have had here... Momma Otter's Pancake Porter, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Blueberry, and Buttered Pecan... So much better than, and much closer to home, than Molly Moon. The atmosphere is relaxed... and the chalkboard is fun for the littles... As is the water!

Came here with my mom and my sister for the first time and it was great! Nice to have a good ice cream place near home instead of waiting to go to Seattle or Portland for what they call artisan ice cream these days. Clean, great natural lighted space- Comparable to Molly Moons and other homemade/ high quality ice cream places. They have a wide variety of flavors ranging from Aztec chocolate to Valhalla coffee which is a local to vegan/dairy free selections. They make their waffle cones fresh- ours were crunchy! My sister got roasted banana and me and my mom shared Valhalla coffee (not as strong as stumptown) and buttered pecan- was so good! Things to know- The single scoops are huge! They give you two scoops so you can ask for two flavors. You can of course sample the flavors Unlike Molly moons...I felt like There was a pretty large seating area for bigger groups, a bar along the front and smaller tables along the back (but maybe it was because we went when it wasn't too busy) All in all I would recommend this place for visitors/locals- Probably a hot spot for ups students!

Such a friendly and cute ice cream shoppe. I love it here. It's got an old school vibe and the people are super nice.

  • Dorothy G.

I'm a big fan of gourmet ice cream made of locally grown ingredients, and this place is fantastic. Fantastic flavors, good service, and close by. Comparable to Molly Moons and Salt and Straw. My only minor complaint is that I wanted to try their Lavender flavored ice cream, but it wasn't "on tap" (they only have a number of flavors available each day, not all the same), but that can also be a reason to come back. Tips: Go during weekdays and on off times, as lines often get long - to the point that they're going outside the small shop.

  • Ang C.

A polite blonde gentleman gave me samples of black sesame and watermelon sorbet. Both were delicious, but lavender is my favorite. Ordered a child's size lavender cone--perfect amount. Very busy when I went.

I remember hearing about this new ice cream spot opening up on 6th Ave and well that was a couple years and ago and WHY did it take me this long to bring the FAM and try it??? We have been missing out! I know the new thing is these froyo spots but sometimes you just need a good ole' scoop of some lactose loaded ICE CREAM!! Ice Cream Social definately fills this void..... Not only is this a small business that makes their own goods but boy do they deliver on some delish ice cream and the price is almost a steal. I wanted 2 flavors but not 2 scoops and they said sure we can do that but I got 2 scoops and it made me wonder how much 2 actual scoops looked like? I got the Pistachio and the Coffee flavor, can't remember the name and they were amazing! Can't wait to go back, actually I might have to stop on the way home tonight , YUM!

  • Krystal O.

All natural ice cream and sorbet, there's a great deal of unique flavors, and it's a fun and friendly atmosphere. After engorging myself at red hot next door, my friends and I decided we might as well keep up the paces and top our high caloric meal off with a scoop of ice cream. This was my first visit. We were able to taste test the endless varieties of ice cream like vanilla chai and blood orange sorbet before having to choose which flavor we liked. I ended up ordering the blood orange sorbet, single scoop and was happy to see that it was double the amount I was expecting. The sorbet was delicious and I was so happy that they advertised dairy free options as regular ice cream has the tendency to upset my stomach. There was a fair amount of seating room, but the place was full of families. It seems like the hot spot on a Friday night! Will definitely go back!

I kept meaning to check this place out. Then one day the cashier at Trader Joe's recommended it. And then one of my children wanted ice cream and it was sunny...alas all the stars aligned and it was time to try this place. On one hand, it's really hard not to compare it to Molly Moon. On the other hand, you shouldn't....you just shouldn't. This is Tacoma dang it! Our establishments should not be endlessly compared to Seattle establishments! Still, it's really hard not to. Overall, I loved the non-franchise feel of this place, the smell of fresh waffles and the hipster scoopers. Although the offered flavors were interesting, I needed to try the "standards" (standards according to me)--vanilla and salted caramel. There are a few things that I am obsessed with, ice cream being one of them. So, full disclosure, this review is a nit picky. But, if you can't be nit picky about food, why the heck are you on Yelp? I digress...or did you digress? N-T-way. The vanilla was more reminiscent of sweet cream. For most, that probably doesn't mean anything. But for a place like this, I expect that distinction to matter. Marketed as vanilla, the scoop I got was just okay. If it were named, sweet cream--it was great--smooth, creamy, and sweet sans vanilla bean. I hate to write this next part, but I love the salted caramel at Molly Moon. Their salted caramel tastes like caramel that's brought right to that point before it's burnt, giving it a strong amber flavor (if amber were a flavor) and a bit of a punch. ICS's salted caramel hints at caramel and is not as provocative as MM's. Having, said that, the salted caramel at MM is probably more of an acquired taste and I find that I have to eat it with vanilla to balance out the strong flavor. You can eat ICS's salted caramel all by itself. It's sultry and smooth. What I also liked is that you can get one scoop, but two different flavors. Yeah boiiiii!!! All in all, this is a great local addition!

Local Ingredients, Fresh made ice cream and waffle cones which are flavorful and crunchy. Nothing compares to the delicious flavors like Mat Hat Chai, Salted Carmel, Spiked Eggnog, Cookies and Cream to name a few. I am still looking forward to some of those other flavors like buttered popcorn. A great place and great location, They give free samples which is awesome for those not so common flavors. Best Ice Cream in Tacoma!

  • Cindy H.

They make their own icecream and their own waffle cones!!! They had so many weird and exotic flavors to choose from it was hard to decide even on two flavors. But in the end I ordered the the Aztec chocolate and coconut lavender on a waffle cone. I wasn't so fond of the Aztec chocolate because the hit of spice that you get just wasn't sitting right in the back of my throat. On the other hand I liked the coconut lavender. You can taste both combination of flavors and not one over powers the other. Their waffle cone was good but not great. It wasn't crispy enough and was a bit soggy and soft. Pricing was decent. I got the one scoop split in two for about $4 and they don't skimp out on that one scoop. Their one scoop is really big. It felt like both my halves were equivalent to 2 scoops of icecream. Can't wait to try their other seasonal flavors.

Alot of fun varieties and large portions. Lavender ice cream was amazing! The raspberry lemonade was fantastic as well. They have dairy free! It's very busy line is out the door. With how popular it is seating is limited. Oh and you can split scoops to flavors for the price of one.

This place is too fucking hipster for its own good...but where else am I supposed to get amazing ice cream if not from a grocery store or chain...also froyo is a fad that died in 2012

I LOVE this place! The ice cream tastes homemade and theres no freezer burn. Have been telling all my friends to come here. Customer service is amazing and the prices are very low considering the amazing quality of the ice cream and sherbet. The decor is adorable. Only complaint is that it's too small. The seat fill up very fast since they're always packed.

By far my FAVORITE ice cream in town! I always get a lovely surprise walking in and seeing that they have LAVENDER ice cream available. They also have CREAMCHEESE ice cream, BEER ice cream, and an assortment of sorbets. It all really depends on what they have featured for that day. Pair it with handmade waffle cones, creamy and not too sweet ice cream consistency, and SPRINKLES at the register!!! **On busy hot days, lines can be long and service can be slow. Their work counter is a tad bit tiny so they generally only have one scooper. But the workers are always super nice and the wait is worth it.

I think I have a new summer project: trying all the flavors at Ice Cream Social. The ice cream is fabulous, but the waffle cones are divine. The single cones are really generous, so those with more modest appetites might want a kids' size cone. There are dairy free options, too.

  • Kat S.

First time visiting and I will definitely be back!! Line was out the door when I arrived. Didn't take long..maybe 5-7 min. Service was friendly and fast. The guys that worked there were very good about letting me sample different kinds......banana, Aztec chocolate and cookies and cream. Very tough decision but I ended up with cherry and buttered pecan flavor. Did not disappoint. Waffle cones were fresh and held together very nicely with HUGE scoop of ice cream (I hate when cones don't do their job). Sprinkles were good too. Highly recommend this place. IMO, better than Molly Moon's.

Good lawd almighty! Ice Cream Social is fantabulous! The hubs and I were walking through the hood when we caught waffle cone scent on the wind. Like Toucan Sam we followed our nose and arrived in front of Ice Cream Social. The have a great selection of everyday flavors that they always offer and then another selection of special items. They are generous and let you sample flavors so you can make up your mind. The Pecan was to die for, just like Pecan Pie seriously. The salted caramel was also delicious, not quite as good as Molly Moons but a close second. Eat a dawg or two next door at Red Hot, drink a beer, then skip on over to Ice Cream Social. Your belly will thank you!

The most delicious ice cream- and such unusual flavors I would never try if I didn't trust that everything here is delicious. Friendly staff, generous with samples, amazing ice cream!

  • Andrew W.

Great ice cream and environment. The place is a bit expensive, but the one scoop for nearly $5 is at least generous. The daily flavors are also a nice touch, star anise is a personal favorite. The samples are also a nice touch so you can ensure you will like what you are spending money on. Environment is small/cozy and often nearly full. Each time we have been the shop has been clean and the workers very friendly. We'll be back

Easily the best ice cream in the PNW. Fresh mint, lavender, and almond poppyseed (it sounds boring, but it's amazing!) were all excellent, both from the counter and by the pint. Fingers crossed that they open a shop in the Seattle area.

Holy balls this is the best ice cream in the south sound area! The owner is super nice, she's usually working behind the counter with a smile. They let you split a single scoop (which is ginormous) so you are basically getting a double scoop for the price of one. Keep in mind it's not super cheap, about $5 for the "single" scoop but it's worth it. They have a set of core flavors that are always there... You know the chocolate, vanilla, cookies and cream, and my fav Valhalla coffee. And then every couple weeks they come up with new rotating flavors. Over Christmas they had this chocolate peppermint something that was bomb. Then in January they had my all time favorite, Brown Butter Pine Nut. This awesome sauce tasted just like corn pops and took me back to my child hood. This months favorite is Chocolate Pecan with caramel swirl. It's like a party in your mouth. I can't say enough good things about this place. They make their waffle cones fresh throughout the day which makes the place smell fantastic. If you are looking for a sweet treat to end your night, definitely check out Ice Cream Social! Parvis creamed all day

Aztec Chocolate and mojito sorbet was insane! The coffee flavor was delicious too. Chocolate and salted caramel wasn't rich enough for me. My advice is to do a few tastes and then choose. There were a couple times I left bummed I didn't get a different flavor after tasting it. Also, there is a long line so be prepared to wait, but the line at least moves pretty decently. Lastly, it gets four stars from me because... although it is good ice cream... it is more creamy than chewy. I like chewier, gelatinous ice cream. Regardless, it's a great place with home made ice cream of all fancy flavors and home made waffle cones!

I just happened upon this place, and am glad that I did. This shop makes its ice cream from fresh local ingredients, and their recipes are wonderful! They have many of the standard flavors--mint chocolate chip, cookies & cream, salt caramel. They also have about a dozen daily flavors that are worth trying if you're the experimental type, notably lavender and avocado. If you don't have an open mind, stick to the flavors in the first column. A side note- the fresh-griddled waffle cones are included in the price!

  • K R.

I was pretty disappointed and downright grossed out by the two flavors I tried here. I had the lavender and aztec chocolate. For claiming to use "real" ingredients, it tasted like I was eating a cream ball flavored with perfume. I've looked deeper into their website and have noticed that they don't claim not to use artificial flavorings. After a few years in food production, I am going to assume that they are using small amounts of these "real" ingredients and then adding artificial flavors to cut costs. For shame, Ice Cream Social. And so expensive too! I suggest going next door to the Co-Op and getting a tub of Alden's organic ice cream for the same price.

My husband loves ice cream, like LOVES it. We always have an awesome experience at Ice Cream Social. We've tried handcrafted ice cream in a lot of big cities while traveling (he really loves ice cream), and we always agree that Ice Cream Social is just as good, and most times better than anywhere we have been! Plus, they are SO nice and patient about tastes, questions, and even let you do split scoops at no extra charge. Trust me, GO!

  • Stephanie D.

I love Ice Cream Socials constantly rotating menu of fun flavors. I got a single scoop in a cone- which is huge and more like 3 scoops- of blueberry and lavendar. There are 10 flavors they always have- salted caramel, butter pecan, cookies and cream, etc, about 6 daily specials, and a few dairy free options, so there are plenty to choose from. Their homemade waffle cones are a nice touch and the employees are always friendly. They could do a little more with the decor, but I come for the ice cream, not the ambiance, so I won't let this affect my score. I'll definitely be back again!

Wow! Hands down, the best ice cream I have had in a long time. Made homemade and with fresh ingredients. I had a warm waffle cone with vanilla and coffee ice cream. The vanilla was the best vanilla I have ever had. It was the perfect mix of creamy and sweet. The coffee ice cream was amazing and much strong than other coffee ice creams I have tried...and I love that it had bits of coffee beans in it. Even with prices a bit more than other shops, this is my new favorite ice cream shop. I cannot wait to go try other favors!

Wow, I am blown away by this place. Ice cream flavors are creative and tasty, customer service is quick and helpful, space is minimalistic and clean. Highly recommend the Salted Caramel (better than Molly Moons in Seattle). Also, the coffee ice cream changed my life. Thanks ice cream social!

  • Katie B.

Wow this place is so good. Their ice cream is absolutely delicious. I had German chocolate ice cream and a coffee ice cream made with coconut milk instead of cow milk. They were both exceptional. The ice cream was creamy and almost too sweet but with the balance of flavors I had, it didn't quite cross that line. Unless you ask for a bowl, they serve your ice cream in a waffle cone, which was necessary since even a single scoop was a generous portion. The staff was very friendly and helpful in selecting flavors for me and my group. The atmosphere is pleasant and there is plenty of seating. I would highly recommend Ice Cream Social.

I have been aware that Ice Cream Social, a new ice cream shop was opening off of 6th for a few weeks now. I meandered up 6th last night to get a copy of The Stranger and The Seattle Weekly and found that they opened! It is an appopriate time for them to open since the Fourth of July was upon us all! The line to the place ebbed and flowed as lots of customers wanted to give the place a try. I was actually craving ice cream but thought I would wait until I would get home until I saw what they had! They had all of the classic flavors that you would expect from an ice cream shop, Chocolate, Strawberry and Vanilla but they had some really exciting flavors too! I was torn as to what I wanted. Did I want the Buttered Popcorn flavored ice cream or the Star Anise ice cream? I settled on a single scoop of the Star Anise and was it delicious! So rich and smooth! This little ice cream shop has just what I have been looking for to appear in town. I was getting yogurt for quite a while but now my horizons have expanded to more choices! You can also get Ice Cream Social Ice Cream at other establishments in town which would be Maxwell's, Gateway to India, Hilltop Kitchen, Taste of Peru, Proctor Farmers Market, Morso Wine Bar and Grassi's.

Amazing ice cream with amazing flavors! They even have vegan flavors. Cool flavors like balsamic strawberry, blood orange sorbet, lavender as well as regular flavors: vanilla, chocolate. Tried the mint chocolate chip and vegan coconut chocolate chip.. Both of course amazing!!!!! Will definitely be coming back..

Delicious! Had their almond poppyseed ice cream that was one of the special flavors of the day, so yummy!

  • Sylvia K.

Ice cream was great! Cutest little parlor. 3 stars because the customer service was POOR. I'm pretty sure other employees are nice but the girl who was working when my friend and I walked in was absolutely rude. Didn't smile, attitude, (for no reason!!!) Laughed while we were taking pictures of our ice cream and was on her phone. Asked to try 2 flavors and answers "yah." with a blank stare. We were the only customers on a cold rainy day too. I usually never rant about these kind of things but it was really bad. Ice cream made me happy though! :)

  • Mary F.

I really enjoy this place. The environment is fun and I like that you can draw with chalk on the board! Their flavors are always great and they have a lot to choose from. I love that they have favorite flavors always but different flavors to choose from daily. Their salted caramel is where it's at!

I have a friend whom worked near this place and as I was driving him to his work, searched on yelp for ice cream and this place popped up. Since I love ice cream we came here to try it out. Mind you, the place doesn't look fancy or special like Baskin Robins or any other local ice cream places, as it was just plane looking building with nothing decorated inside. All you see are registers and ice cream prices on the wall. I wasn't sure if I wanted to try it after looking inside, but a nice random lady before me told me to sample the salted caramel so I did, which was great! Taking her advice, I got salted caramel and coffee which were fantastic! The ice cream were very thick and creamy, locally made in Tacoma downtown after asking one of the young students who worked there. A bit pricy ($4 for single scoop, but how they work is that they fill up the cone or cup so it is more then a single scoop and you can mix match flavors) but was worth it. I recommend any near here to try this place out. =)

  • Chelsey D.

Great ice cream. Real, creamy, huge portions! Customer service was snoody and rude. We asked for samples, after she said they were available, then huffed when we didn't like the first one. Then the guy was just as rude to the family behind us. Don't know if y'all know but scooping da cream isn't a place to be a shower bag . Turn those frowns upside down and serve some sunshine with that ice cream.

So, my hubby and I literally just came from here like 10 minutes ago. It was our first time here and we brought our 2 boys with us as well. I have heard raves about how tasty the ice cream is here. So, I thought it was worth a try. I ordered a double waffle cone(bc when it comes to sweet things I have no self control!lol) with a scoop of coconut mint chocolate chip(totally thought it was going to blow my mind bc I LOVE all things coconut AND mint!) and a scoop of their coffee( bc you guessed it...I LOVE all things coffee too!) ice scream. Well, I'm sad to say that my mind was not blown. Lame. I would not recommend the coconut mint chocolate chip ice cream. It was flavorless and kind of reminded me of the coconut oil you get in the jar at the store. Same color...almost the same consistency to. I ended up throwing half of that scoop away...and I NEVER throw away ice cream! So, you know it's bad if that happens!lol The coffee was tasty but nothing to boast about. I did buy a pint of the salted caramel so we shall see how that tastes. All in all my boys loved it. But, my youngest son did say that the end of his waffle cone was like rubber!ha Idk if it was stale bc we went so late but it was a tad on the stale side. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. But, now I can say we have been here.

It was a little bit of a wait but worth it. The ice cream was delicious and filling. One of the staff seems a little flakey, but the ice cream is still worth it.

2nd time being here and finally writing review ,, this place is amazing , ice cream is very creamy and very fresh , they have everyday flavors and flavors of the day (usually 4-5) , very friendly staff , and decent prices ,, also have pre made pints to take home !

  • Clementine R.

For being "good" ice cream, not out of this world wow mind you, just good. A little on the sweet side, but most like that. I am glad there is a place like this on 6th though...there is nothing, other than froyo joints (powder based...ew) in North Tacoma, that I've been aware of, so it's nice. As far as customer service, I was met with no rudeness as others have said. I usually give new places the benefit of the doubt, as far as service is concerened...takes time and experience to get into the customer service flow. The owner may have to hire more chipper teens to help out, though.

  • Amy D.

Huge scoops. And by huge I don't mean huge, I mean, like, really big. Like, if you're full from dinner at Masa, a single scoop will send you into your yoga pants faster than Thanksgiving dinner. At least a small B cup, according toy husband. These scoops are so big my kids couldn't even finish the kid size. Also, fresh, local ingredients, cool staff, great vibe. A must stop when on 6th.

  • Marimo A.

I'm so glad I no longer have to go all the way to Seattle for Molly Moon's or something to get rich, fat, tasty ice cream!! And it's in my neighborhood, which is quite dangerous. I no longer crave frozen yogurt. As many people know, Ice Cream Social has been around. Their ice cream is always just what you expect for hand made delicious ice cream. The only problem was you had to know where they're at. No more. So far my favorites are chocolate (no need to explain) and Valhalla Coffee (addictive). They started serving vegan options as well. They certainly try to meet everybody's needs. I'm going back tonight after enjoying a drink and a hot dog and Red Hot...very excited! I've been waiting all week to go back there.

  • Chris E.

Best ice cream. So happy we have an actual ice cream shop in Tacoma instead of just 50 Froyo places. Their cookie dough ice cream has so many huge chunks of cookie dough in it!! So delicious. Haven't had a single bad flavor from here. Fun tip: you can split a single scoop of ice cream in to 2 flavors when you order, instead of having to get 2 scoops for different flavors.

  • Kaylee B.

Sooooo AMAZING! Since going to a vegan diet the ice cream shop experience has gone to the wayside. Ice Cream social offers regular thick creamy handmade ice cream as well as coconut milk ice cream and sorbets. With some regular flavors and ever changing ones it is fun a place to try new gourmet flavors or go traditional with strawberry, vanilla, coffee, or chocolate! Today I had the fig and honey coconut milk icecream with their premade cone(the fresh cones are made with egg) I'm in love!! I can't wait until I can try the coconut lavender. Impressed!

    (5)
  • Chuck L.

On par if not better than Molly Moon, Blue Bird etc. Business model and decor are similar but the flavors are more intense. Fresh made waffle cones are included gratis. All natural local ingredients. Great addition to 6th ave and Tacoma.

    (5)
  • Zin H.

That this place exists makes me really happy. That the line is frequently out the door, strangely, makes me even more happy. Thrive on, Ice Cream Social! There can no longer be any doubt that Tacoma WHOMPS Seattle. I-5 North, close your lanes, we need them not. And go ahead and close the ones coming into Tacoma too, because I don't want any damn outsiders trying to eat my ice cream. It is scrumptious, this ice cream. Favorites so far: strawberry, lavender, popcorn, coffee. Kid's cone is plenty for me.

Thank you for arriving in my life. I needed an ice cream place closer than molly moons. Quirky, adorable and far enough I don't need to worry about being there everyday.... it's addictingly delicious!!!!

  • Kimi H.

Cool little shop with amazing portions of ice cream. One scoop is $4 and can be split between 2 flavors in a cup or waffle cone (no charge for waffle). I will definitely be back again! Hopefully they will have the earl tea flavor that I've been dying to try :)

  • Tom P.

Love this place!! Waffle cones are made in house as well, scoops are huge, and they have options for vegan/dairy free if you still need your sweet tooth fix. The strawberry sorbet(vegan/dairy free ) is bomb! Tastes like strawberry jam

    (5)
  • Joel B.

Best ice cream in Tacoma by a long shot. Best strawberry ice cream I've ever had. Support your local artisan shops and check this place out! Been going back here and have since tried almost every flavor. Sometimes quirky/experimental flavors from other similar ice cream shops (Molly moon in Seattle is an obvious comparison) taste interesting but you wouldn't want to eat a whole scoop - not the case here! Whether it's alcohol (honey bourbon, raspberry and Russian imperial stout) or spice (Mayan chocolate, habanero mango), they're all amazing down to the last bite.

    (5)
  • Mark N.

Hands down the best ice cream place I've been to, even . AND the service is amazing. The manager is very personable and does an impressive job of remembering what you had last time, even if it's been several weeks. I would go here every day if I wasn't trying to watch my sugar intake. They do a great job of switching up the menu with seasonal flavors (and there are the classic favorites available all the time). The brownies are good too. And they sell pints that you can take home. They also use square payments for their credit card processing, which saves you the hassle of writing down the tip amount on a tiny receipt, with a pen that's out of ink. You get to do that on a digital tablet screen instead. If only more places did this :O)

    (5)
  • Maile K.

I went there twice this week and both times was very impressed with the product, service and atmosphere. Such nice folks and I love the decor. They make fresh waffle cones, if you don't get that you are missing out. Another unique thing is the "split-single" so that you can try more than one flavor. At $4.00 they are more expensive than other places, but worth every penny. Lastly for the good stuff, I had the Aztec Chocolate, Mint, Sea Salt caramel, but my hands down favorite was the Butter Pecan. I eat icecream everywhere I travel and this was very good!

    (5)
  • Crystal W.

I got a double with strawberry and toasted coconut, really good and HUGE scoops. I couldn't even finish lol. Will definitely come back :). Loved that they had a GF Vegan option!

Great ice cream! Friendly staff, lots of samples, great flavors, and off-the-iron waffle cones. Worth skipping dinner to go straight to dessert.

  • Ric C.

One word describes it all FANTASTIC! I went for a double scoop freshly dwaffle cone and it was delicious, some of the best ice cream I've ever eaten. I did learn that I really only needed one scoop though as I was full for hours. the ice cream is very rich. They have the basics every day but also several special flavors that rotate. I'll definitely be back to try them all.

    (5)
  • Andrew K.

Wow. This is indeed a nice addition to the 6th ave area of Tacoma! This is definitely ice cream made with love. The quality here rivals, or even beats some far more famous spots I've had the fortune of trying out in the past. A solid selection of regular flavors such as salted caramel and Valhalla coffee, and rotating seasonals offer a wide enough array of flavors - but quality over quantity is the name of the game here. Good luck going back to store-bought ice cream after you try this place. Go ahead, and indulge yourself. Just do it!

    (5)
  • Brianna B.

Best ice cream I've ever had, home made with new flavours every week, the owner is a wonderful lady and extremely creative when it comes to flavour profiles, the sweet potato marshmallow ice cream was something to dream about and the sweet corn and black pepper ice cream was divine. She also does DAIRY FREE and VEGAN ice cream so there's something for everyone. My go to place on 6th street. The shop itself is a testament to the importance of community, with chalk board walls, great music playing and community tables to sit at.

This is amazing ice cream. If you hate your mouth, don't come here. This is punch a nun in the face till she passes out good ice cream. Also, I don't know what people were talking about. I didn't run into any ninjas in the bathroom.

  • Ryan K.

Ice cream social was awesome! The selection is simple but usually you can find your favorite flavors available. Fresh waffle cones, awesome service, and good ice cream at an affordable price. Lines can be long at times so you may wait but it is worth it!

Tacoma Ice Cream Social came to our wedding with their ice cream cart. Our guests LOVED it ! they have the most unique flavors and are not cheap with the serving sizes :) every guest got one or more giant waffle cones with multiple scoops. I think every event needs a gourmet ice cream cart like this one !

I recently moved from Seattle back to my home town. This place definitely reminds me of Molly Moon's Ice Cream in Fremont. Quaint, original, friendly, sociable, and popular. Delicious flavors and a great variety. I'm looking forward to returning.

  • Yoonjin C.

Since I am a big fan of creamery, I had to check this place out. As I walked in, the smell of waffle cone was great; however, I had to pass on the waffle cone because I was there to get a pint so I can share with my friend later on. I ordered valhalla coffee and mad hat chai tea. They were both GREAT! I gave 4 starts because of the lady at the counter with somewhat bad attitude. The visit was not really pleasant but I had a good ice cream (I almost finished the pint by myself...).

    (4)
  • Christopher R.

Mmmmm. So good. Creamy and pleasing to all my mouth parts. Beats out Molly Moon and Cupcake Royale in Seatown by my estimation. No really, Ice Cream Social has it going on! Salted caramel was perfectly balanced. 5 stars for the deliciousness and kindness of staff. 4.5 for music selection and 4 for decor. But in the end, it's the ice cream that matters.

    (5)
  • B R.

Amazing ice cream. I had to get the double because I couldn't decide on just one flavor. Great friendly service. The waffle cone was still warm it was so fresh. The ice cream was creamy and the flavor was delicious. I will definitely be back.

  • Erin M.

Overall good ice cream, fun flavors and homemade waffle cones. They have every day staples, including chocolate, salted caramel and strawberry. They offer new flavors daily and weekly - my favorite this summer was the honey lavender and the fig flavors. They also offer non dairy options! The single scoops are *huge* so I feel the prices are fair. A must if you're in Tacoma!

Legit ice cream spot. Waffle cones made on site and the ice cream, my god... soooo good.

  • Amanda S.

If you are reading this review and trying to decide where to go stop reading and go here. The flavors are inventive and rich in flavor. I have been twice and tried the salted caramel (amazing) and the chocolate (super amazing). While there they let me sample the star anise (interestingly amazing) but the salted caramel was calling my name. Both times I got my scoop in a freshly rolled waffle cone (crunchy amazing). This little shop is an excellent addition to the 6th ave family! But seriously... stop reading this and go there now!

    (5)
  • Gina S.

This ice cream is indulgent! It has a way of feeling dense and light at the same time, which is a perfect texture. So smooth. The waffle cone was just as edible, and filled compactly so that you really get a nice portion that fills you up, just with a one scoop serving. The flavor selection is small in numbers, huge on creativity. With things like stout, lavender, salted caramel, and beyond -- you don't need any more than a dozen flavors or so to find something you will love. Any more choices, and I would have lost my mind trying to decide! They offered samples which was helpful. Although I live over 15 miles away, I think about this place all the time when I have an urge for the real deal.

    (5)
  • Emily R.

This place is amazing. The ice cream is delicious and it just is very unique. The thing I like best is that they have a lot of nondairy ice cream which is really hard to find or at least find ones that taste good. I LOVE the lavender coconut ice cream!!!

    (4)
  • Jessica T.

Absolutely Delicious! The cookies and cream is full of cookies! Best I have ever had. Next time I am going to try the coconut milk ice cream...

  • Julie A.

The ice cream tastes normal, like what you could buy at the store. They do have some weird sounding flavors if you're into that. The service is not the greatest and the atmosphere is boring.

    (3)
  • Jodi G.

The best Ice Cream! Only critique is not posting their flavors on their Facebook page...this would increase their efficiency instead of answering the multiple phone calls!

Best ice cream I've had in Tacoma, hands down. I had the garden mint and was blown away by how awesome it was!

Me and my mother in law were at Hilltop Kitchen eating lunch. We had our dessert of Salted Caramel ice cream and it was amazing! We asked the owner where it was from and he said they bought their ice cream from Ice Cream Social. We were inspired to get some to take home so we buzzed up there to grab some pints. I have to say, it's good ice cream, hence the three stars. $7 a pint is a bit pricey, we bought three different ones for a total of $23. My issue with here is that one, it doesn't look like it's ready to be open, like there's no decor, the place is so drab and boring in there! I wanted it to be fun and lighthearted but it was dreary and dimly lit. Secondly, and the real reason for the lack of five stars, is the lady working there was SUCH A BUMMER. I mean, I get when people have bad days and whatever but this lady looked miserable. We talked to her for quite awhile and couldn't get two words out of her, when she did answer us it was almost a whisper, she absolutely REFUSED to smile and was almost rolling her eyes at us! We were there for probably five minutes before we chose some flavors, bought them, and couldn't get out of there fast enough. Call this place Ice Cream Sadness.

Amazing icecream. Lavender is my favorite, but all the flavors are delicious. Service is friendly. Waffle cones are made fresh all day. This is a great addition to 6th ave!
