I love having made to order Thai food on campus. This place is noisy, hot, smelly, and rather slow... just like being in Thailand!!! Truly, the flavor is close to what I remember from the streets in Bangkok. I love their Pad Thai (despite the already stated long waits). If you really don't have much time, go for one of their pre-made combos. When I'm pressed for time, I usually go for their combo with 1 side: yellow chicken curry with white rice. It's bomb! Another thing I like: their spice rating system actually reaches a respectable degree of sweatiness. That is, if you ask for spicy, be prepared to have a napkin on your forehead as you eat :) One VERY important thing to note: if you're requesting a made-to-order dish, the order won't be placed in the queue until AFTER you pay for it. So, you place your order, get a ticket, go to pay for it, and THEN your order gets queued. Knowing this could save you a very long wait :)

First day back on the Microsoft campus and the obvious place to go for lunch is The Commons. For those not in the know, this is a mall on the Microsoft campus exclusive to people working at Microsoft. Which means this review probably is only interesting for those already working or curious about working there. The Commons has a lot of dining options. The Street Vendor is a component of Typhoon! Streets of Asia, which is in itself one of four components. In addition to The Street Vendor, Typhoon! runs a Chinese, sushi and noodles station there. The Street Vendor is the one specializing in Thai cuisine. It is more like a fast food Thai option, than something that resembles the restaurant Typhoon! which reviewed recently. There is a Panda Express type Thai option in which you can choose two items for under $9 or one for under $6. Many Thai selections, but there are some Chinese dishes to choose from as well. And then there is made to order noodle dishes which is what I went for. I decided to go for the beef drunken noodles ($7.95) which is what I had at Typhoon! except that was with seafood. The noodles were pretty good. It did taste a little bit different from the seafood drunken noodles I had. I did ask for a spicier rendition this time and the plate was with beef. The beef could have been a little more tender, but the noodles were pretty good considering the food court setup. The waiting time was kind of slow. A lot of orders ahead of me, so it did take some time to be ready. I think there is some sort of online order or something as people with higher numbers were getting their orders before me. My suggestion is to probably order beforehand or come here at an off time.

This is one of my regular lunch spots. I work here so I usually come before or after the lunch rush. Otherwise, the wait is way too long. I normally eat at the thai spot and order Panang Curry. It's always good and fills me up. It's fast and good. Love it. :)

I have only ever had two things at the Typhoon! Streets of Asia. One was a completely bland spring roll because my blood sugar level had dropped to nil and i needed something to eat while i waited for my noodles to be ready. Blech, what a waste of money. But i do go over there about once a week to order the chow fun from the made-to-order noodles section. It is the closest i have had to NY style chicken-chow fun in Washington. It is a little different, but good enough. Downsides: - Expensive. If you order an extra item, I ask for it with just chicken and broccoli, the whole thing runs me $9.50 - If you ask for specifications, make sure they write it down on the sticky note, and then double check it before you leave, they make a lot of mistakes - Expect long waits during peak times. It doesn't generally take very long to put your order in, but it can take a while for your order to come up I'm still such a mega chow fun fan that it's worth it for me

Mmm, drunken noodles with chicken! I liked the small chunks of garlic and jalapeno. The sauce was not too salty but flavored the thick sticky noodles well. It was a heaping portion for just $8.49. Made to order. Really satisfying and filling meal.

On my recent visit to Microsoft I had the opportunity to have lunch on campus. Wow are there a lot of choices! We opted to eat at the main commons. I felt like Asian food, so this was the perfect choice. Each dish is cooked fresh and to order. It was hot, spicy and yummy.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
