Found this place on a whim when other dinner plans fell through. Very busy for a Monday. This place is here to stay, it seems. Our server(also the bartender), recommended the fried chicken as the best he's ever had. He also said the meatloaf was to die for. The three took his recommendations and ordered two meatloafs and a chicken, along with the trifle fries starter. Fries were good. Nothing to call home about flavor-wise, but perfect texture and done-ness. THE MEATLOAF! Excellent texture, great flavor, AMAZING gravy, and wrapped in bacon. Nothing wrong with that. The fried chicken was darned amazing: it had cornmeal mixed in the breading, so it was perfectly crunchy and cooked to perfection. The bartender was great. Personable, knowledgeable, and energetic. All of the juices were fresh-squeezed from a hand juicer, with the exception of cranberry and pineapple, according to the bartender. I know I saw grapefruit, limes, lemons, and oranges get juiced. They even had fresh basil and cucumber for specialty drinks. All in all, great food, great drinks, good times. Service was a bit slow, but there was just the bartender and one cook Doug everything. Pat(the bartender), did mention they were planning on bringing on one more person, so I didn't ding them a star. Make sure to ask for the fresh menu.

My friend and I came here because we love cruising around and finding small places to eat. This place has been on the radar for a bit now. Started off with Steamed Clams. We both agreed that the Cilantro was a great addition to the white wine sauce. I got the fish and chips with a side of the chipotle mayo for dinner. The fish - Great. Crispy, and the batter was really tasty, too. Top 3 I've had in my 8 years here. The slaw - REALLY good. Didn't know what to expect. I liked the apple quite a bit. The Chipotle Mayo - indeed what it says it is. Let's just say that. Haha. Wow. Really nice waitress, too. Was a Ren and Stimpy fan so that was cool. All in all, really nice visit.

Came here tonight after seeing a friends food porn pictures on Facebook. This place was very unexpected! The food was top notch and amazeballs. I had the fish and chips, fiance had the steak salad. I don't know what kind of breading they put on that fish but it was the best I think I have ever had. It had a crunch on it like a Crème Brûlée shell. lol It was so good! The spicy tarter was delicious on ....well everything. Cant go wrong with home cut fries and tarter! The fiances steak was cooked to perfection. I also had the caprese salad from the fresh sheet. I told our waiter I could eat that salad every single day. Loved it! Fiance had the hummus and veggie plate and also loved it! And he normally doesn't even like hummus. We got the bread pudding to go and it didn't survive long lol. I cant wait to come back and try other things on the menu that caught my attention. Also we tried a few drinks. Tonight they had a special one on the fresh sheet. It was a rhubarb vermouth something. lol and I wanted another one immediately. Fiance had a Manhattan. Both were delicious and not watered down at all. I am posting the images of the menu I took because prior to going tonight I couldnt find their prices or menu anywhere. I meant to take pics of our food but .... started eating too fast. lol ....next time I will post pics for surely! Thanks to our excellent waiter Clint who took great care of us tonight! You will definitely be seeing us again soon!

Fried chicken!! Small number of outdoor seats make it intimate both in and outside.

Stopped in for drinks around 7pm on a Saturday. The Rosemary and Brown butter popcorn was awesome! The bartender was really on his game. The Moscow Mule, Hurricane, and Dirty Shirleys ordered by my table were all well made. The service was great, and we all felt well taken care of. Everything on the menu looked really good. I have to come back and get dinner at some point.

Everything they say is true! The fried chicken is absolutely amazing; I may be ruined on fried chicken from now on as this may be what everything gets compared to. We tried the highly recommended Manhatten and Margarita- soooo good. Clint the bartender is an artiste!

Hands down the best neighborhood/friendly bar and kitchen in Burien, WA. The burger is amazing, the fried chicken is to die for. Dan Davis nailed it in his home town. Thank you Clint for your expertise behind the bar.

Since moving to Burien this last summer, I've tried to find some new places that don't require me to drive to my normal places in the Fremont/Ballard/Greenwood/Wedgwood areas. This is one of my go-to places when I'm looking for meal/drink in an atmosphere similar to being in the TV show "Friends". The easy thing to do is sit at the bar watching the drinks being made, glancing at the TV, chatting it up where it's so easy to get to know your bar mates. They have the normal bar menu comfort foods and I won't go over the menu in this review. But, there's a couple of notable items you should consider when you come to Sidestreet. The first is the fried chicken is some of the best and has a really crispy coating with it seems to be a garlic taste; not sure, but it's really good and not at all greasy. I'd say Sidestreet has a great deep fryer and any items they deep fry are great (fries, onion rings, chicken). The other notable is the burger as it's real ground meat and not from a frozen preformed patty. So its not uniform and is seared to perfection to your order. On the salad side, the wedge salad is really good too. Definitely look at the specials that are on a separate piece of paper. I look for a grilled steak on this menu and seen a ribeye covered with local wild mushrooms and have eaten the NY strip. These steaks run about $28 with a side of mixed vegetables an some mashed potatoes. If you see one on the special menu, you should go for it especially if it's covered with the wild local mushrooms. Lastly, they have a great bread pudding dessert with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if you go for the sweets after dinner. Typically, I go for one of the great bar drinks and they make a killer Manhattan and seen some great looking lemon drops. My rating would normally be 4 star for Seattle, but in Burien this is definitely a Burien 5 star rating.

This is a perfectly pleasant place to get dinner and/or drinks. The bartender is knowledgeable and while the service is a little bit slow (only two people waiting on the entire restaurant) it doesn't detract too much from the experience. I wouldn't come here just to drink, but if you're in burien, there are far worse places to eat.

  • Thuy H.

One of the best place to eat onion rings and truffle fries !!! And must definitely try their buttermilk break fried chicken ! Small unique place with heavenly food and they have a bar ? You have to give this a try if you in Burien. 5 stars no doubt. Ohhh and the servicesplus plus.

For my 250th review I was fortunate enough to make it the Sidestreet Kitchen. Started off at happy hour with some great poutine and the popcorn, both were great. The dark lager I had was very good. We stayed for dinner and was very happy we did. The Fried chicken is as good as everyone says it is and the steak salad was fantastic. They did a great job with the interior of this place and the service was excellent and a very friendly atmosphere.

Keep your eyes open. I have driven past this place 100 times and never even knew it existed. Even worse, I have gone to Hans several times which is in the same building and didn't know this place existed. I'm sure glad I found it on yelp! This place is a fun little bar that really fits the Burien style. We arrived at 4:30 to a nice little happy hour menu. The main menu doesn't start until 5 so you get to try a few appetizers while you wait. Its a great little happy hour that covers all the basics, onion rings, wings, fries, sliders... all essentially $5 a piece. We could have filled up on those but really wanted to try the fried chicken everyone on yelp is raving about. We finished off the wait with a couple of their "signature" drinks which were surprising good and unique. The staff was extremely helpful and nice. The waitress knew we were waiting for dinner service and came over right at 5 to take our dinner order. As noted in other reviews their menu isn't huge and we both ended up ordering the fried chicken. It was good. My only complain for the whole evening has to be the menu. Just a few more items would have me coming back far more often. With such a small menu I really have to be in the mood for Fried Chicken or Meatloaf to make the trip and honestly neither happen very often. Other than that we had a great time and both enjoyed our meals. Especially with such great service. Overall Solid 4 Stars. Good Service, Good Happy Hour, Good Food.

House made margarita was great. I don't like tequila but this was good. The onion rings were perfect with the bear battering and the pulled pork sliders were spot on. Chicken wings were spicy and cooked perfectly. Fries that came were delicious and crispy. I only got to try their happy hour but I'm super curious about their dinner. If happy hour is any indication dinner should be amazing

Went here with our two young kiddos. A good variety to choose from and my husband and I had a tough time deciding. They were very accommodating to our kiddos, making a plain burger with nothing on it and plain chocolate scoops of ice cream. I greatly appreciate that as it allowed my hubs and I to enjoy our meals and drinks. The best thing that would have me stop here again, should we ever be in the area, would be the friendliness of the staff. Our waitress was sincerely friendly and was just down right REALLY good at her job. Overall we were really impressed.

Another amazing dining experience here! Everytime the meals keep getting better and better! This time the prime rib french dip was freaking amazing! Great place with great food and a great wait staff!

Wonderful Meatloaf! Super Halibut! Truffle Fries are outstanding! And the service was terrific...great wine recommendations and great personality from Jericha (thank you!)! My only critique: They don't accept AMEX. Visa/MC only. Other than that, I know I will be back for that meatloaf!

This is a great find of a restaurant; we wish it were in Issaquah! Dan and his dad opened this in 2007 and have since been building quite a following while making some of the best comfort food dishes like fried chicken, tenderloin, mashed potatoes, and clams. We happen to sample a lot of the dishes and were blown away. The restaurant also has a bar that pours any we'll drink or show off some fine wines. We had a great time with the staff and could have stayed all night...but it was a school night and had to get home to make sure kids go down.

Wow!!! Great little gem in Burien!! First I must say smaller menu but by no means is that bad. Everything sounded amazing!!! You can tell the things they make they want to be great!!! We just came in for drinks but ended up getting snacks! Because looked so good! Get the rosemary brown buttered popcorn!! Smells and tastes amazing!! Also the wasabi mashed potatoes so much flavor!! The happy hour chicken wings yummm. And the bacon ranch wow! Bartender so friendly! Loved the Moscow mule in the copper cup!! The ginger beer is alcoholic which gives it another kick!! And wow house margarita, you watch them squeeze the limes!! They are made to order! And great happy hour!!!! Tuesday - Saturday 3-6 and 10 till close! Also small patio area! This is my new go to place in Burien!!!!! Can't wait to come back!!!!!!!

Checked this place out tonight and what a delight. My wife and I split the fried chicken. When our plate arrived I told my wife that we should have ordered all dark. Neither one of us enjoy white chicken and this piece of breast was twice the size as the drum stick. I gave the wife the dark meat thought I'll have to settle gnawing on dry meat. Boy was I wrong. It was so juicy and moist. I gave my wife a piece to try and she also was pleased. So much that she took the other half that I cut. The brown butter popcorn was spot on. So much that I wanted to get a bag to go. Great neighborhood restaurant. Oh and the drinks were off the hook.

Thought it was good, but not great. Could be that it was a super busy nite, so we will give it another try. Food was okay - but it depends on what you are looking for. We had an overcooked steak and the staff was busy - so waters weren't filled as quickly as I'd like to see. Liked that they have specials.

Fantastic place to go. Great good food. The meatloaf and buttermilk chicken are the best. Amazing drinks. Great atmosphere. The staff is great funny and friendly. And I love the owner for opening this great place in my town. Everyone needs to come here.

My family and I have been going to the German deli next door to this place for years but never thought of stopping in. On a whim we decided to check it out. It's smaller inside than I would have expected but it's clean and cozy. We lucked out as it was Happy Hour and it rocks! Cheap drinks and cheap HH food was beyond what we expected. Hands down the best wings I have ever had (I am usually not a wing guy). We ordered entrees and again they were fantastic! The service was phenomenal! Not only was our server friendly and outgoing but the owner came over and talked with us for a bit. I love a place, though busy, that takes the time to make sure you feel welcomed and part of the family. We will definitely be adding this place as part of our regular rotation!

We had a wonderful meal tonight. I had the fried chicken (excellent) and my husband had the meatloaf which was also great. Patrick was our Bartender and server and did a great job. Really good Margarita! We will definitely be back and will recommend this place to family and friends.

There was at least a year between our first and second visit, mostly because when I felt like dining out they were closed on Sunday. But I appreciate local businesses that take that day off. I'm 99.9% certain we had the same guy waiting on us both times and he is very easy going and attentive to all his customers. My boyfriend and I love that this place is local, it's more intimate, and the atmosphere is super friendly yet oddly romantic! My only little suggestion would be a bigger location and maybe a seasonal menu? Otherwise, this place is a no brainer for any occasion. We can't wait to come back for drinks this weekend with some friends!

I've been to the sidestreet many of times and I love this place. I've never had a bad dish. Only once did my order come out in correct, but it was quickly fixed and a complimentary dessert was offered for the small slip up. I love the popcorn starter and I look forward to the fresh sheet every time. Sidestreet is my go to when I have friends or family in town.

    (5)
  • Don D.

Hey Dan, I didn't say that your popcorn was your 'signature dish' by your definition. It was by mine because most of the other items we have tried weren't very good. The chicken was tough (ever hear of brining?) the poutine was a joke, where were the cheese curds? Google poutine! The sliders we got were pedestrian at best, like something you would get out of a food vending machine at the bus station. The drinks are great though and the service is very good as well, Clint is an asset to the business. IF we come in again we will try the popcorn. Might try the onion rings, hard to mess that up but we will see. My girlfriend and I were in the restaurant business for many years so we appreciate what it takes to run a restaurant but I have to call it as I see it, nothing personal Dan.

We love Sidestreet Kitchen! We call it the cell lot too. Have dinner, a glass of wine or handcrafted cocktail, while waiting to pickup your loved ones at Seatac Airport. This is our go to Cheers Bar and first choice in Burien and the entire surrounding area for dinner and cheer!!! If I lived closer I would dine here twice weekly friendly, fantastic meals and Chef Dan!!!

What a gem in Burien! From the outside, the restaurant is nondescript, but the inside is lovely! I especially like the open kitchen and bar area. The restaurant was lit with soft lighting for dinner making it both relaxing and romantic. Three of us had dinner and we all loved our meals (fried chicken, grilled chicken sandwich, and the meatloaf). Also, huge kudos to the marionberry margarita. It was perfectly balanced, not to sweet or tart. Sidestreet will now be a regular place for us if our next trip is as wonderful as our first!

  • Bill L.

First let me say I really like this place. It has great food and a cool little elevated bar. Good service and nice patrons. I went there on the strength of other reviews and settled on the pulled pork sandwich, which was reasonably priced. The sandwich and slaw that came on it were excellent! Great flavor and very tasty. The problem was, it almost seemed like I was served a child's portion. I probably could have eaten three of these sandwiches. I'll probably go back and try another dish, and I hope the portion doesn't leave me hungry at the end of the meal.

  • Lisa U.

Came here in Saturday night for a quick bite. My bf and I ordered the Poutine fries (yum because there were peices of mushroom in the gravy, cheese curds were tasty too) and the fried chicken sandwich with veggies as a substitute (delicious! If you've had the fried chicken sandwich from Skillet before, this one beats it hands down. You get a great portion of chicken that's not all batter. The the rosemary aoli was fragrant and flavors mended well). Service was five stars, food was five stars and ambiance I'd have to give it a four. I'll be back again to grub!

    (5)
  • Graham H.

We really enjoyed this place. We went for happy hour and had the brown butter rosemary popcorn and few beers. We'll definitely be going back. Kepp up the good work Sidestreet!

  • Anita T.

Service - terrible, there was only one ONE waiter/bartender/busser. Although he was very nice, I felt terrible for him and he was scrambling all over the place. Ambiance - great, small little place but the decor is nice (bar and seating) and the music is wonderful (Interpol and the Strokes anyone?) Menu - great, alot of unique appetizers and entrees Food - delicious if it was still warm :( the drinks are amazing Pricing - Higher than what you would pay at BJ's or Red Robins but worth it All in all, I would suggest going there on a weekday/weekday night when it's not busy because my food came out cold since only ONE guy was working. Please hire more waiters because I want to go back, but I don't want to wait for forever for my food, service, or even to get a table cleaned to sit at.

I would consider myself a foodie and love trying new places. I was blown away by the food in this little gem of a restaurant. The owner and chef, Dan is so personable and quite a genius with his culinary talent. We tried so many wonderful dishes, some on the menu and some were specials and could rival the best of the best! The Rosemary popcorn is out of this world, I could have made a meal with just that. We had chicken sandwiches that were the juiciest pieces of fried chicken ever. Another treat was the pork tenderloin and beef tenderloin with beautiful sides and sauces. There were six of us so we sampled quite a few items. In addition the wine selection proved to be top notch, some impressive labels! I live about 40 minutes away without traffic but I will make a point to frequent this fantastic place! I only hope Dan will consider opening up in Sammamish so I can go even more often!

Great neighborhood bistro/pub! Menu strikes a great balance between familiar comfort food (the meatloaf does indeed rock) and fun choices (blistered edamame; tostones; aforementioned truffle fries; roasted corn/mozzarella salad, etc). The staff are incredibly nice...happy to see you, eager to explain the menu, funny and friendly but never hovering. Perfect Friday night let's get a beer and funky pub grub close to home kinda place. Jericha is a superstar of hospitality and the owners are terrific community champions. Yummy, friendly, unpretentious local goodness.Oh...and super easy to get to with ample off street parking!

    (5)
  • Tomio N.

I love the atmosphere here at side street kitchen. The decor is lovely, the music fits the atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. The food is a bit pricier than BJ's and Red Robin but definitely worth it. The only downside I experienced today is the fried chicken, it tasted a bit weird and the batter was too light and oily. Get the pulled pork for dinner and save room for the awesome baklava desert served with ice cream!

So this place makes a margarita pretty great !!! I been here three times the first two times were great . I love the fries rosemary popcorn is different . Happy hour sliders are yum yum yum !!! My last visit was going so smooth for my birthday until the end. I work at a preschool so my friends have kids and I have a daughter as well... None less I gave them a fair warning ahead of time about our kids they said it was fine we got there at 3pm left at 4:30 so I don't think that was too long .. We finished doing cake then one of the kids got cranky and yelled kinda loud so the lady that always helps us that seems to do everything herself comes up and tells us to calm him down ;( I understood her frustration but at the same time as a mother I was offended ... Then to make things worse someone in our group started arguing with her and hey both her being very ugly towards each other . I felt so bad it was my birthday and I felt torn in the situation. Over all great food service is great not really a place for kids but still I wish that situation was handled differently on both parts
