Try the lobster ravioli! Very good, authentic italian food! We will def be going back! My wife also loved her Gnocchi Al Forno!

Oh, this place is so lovely. Wood fire oven, great bar, and they do carryout! They always have wonderful specials - and great wine list. Their salads and mains are just great. We haven't had the pizza yet, but will be doing this soon. We enjoy going in and feeling like part of the B-Town community.

Great service. Was here 4-5 years ago and came back before a flight out of seatac in the morning. I had a bottle of Librandi Gravello 2011 at $60 which was a great deal. (2008 on the list ) My daughter had the porcini pasta purses which were off the charts good. Some of huge best pasta outside veneto I have ever had. Delicate and toothsome. If you are in the Seattle Tacoma area please check this place out. Pizza is even good but coming from Campania it should be. Great job!

Great great service-date apps and drinks. Ordered a dry rose and the Copperhead salmon special, and porcini purses. Yum!

For those who haven't been to Italy, this is the real deal. The food is completely authentic and full of native Calabrese flavor. Those who complain about slow service can drive down to the mall and strap on your feedbag at The Olive Garden or some other God awful chain. Everything that I've had at Osteria da Primo has been first rate. Carlo and Lindsey are hardworking and gracious hosts. This restaurant is truly an asset to Burien and to the Seattle Italian food scene as a whole. Do yourself a favor and go here!

Been there twice. The first time, we both had a craving for steak and stumbled in there when they first opened for the evening. The owner was a one man show. He waited our table and cooked the dinner. The calamari appetizer was wonderful. I'm really picky about my squid, and they sure hit a home run. Our steaks were also really hit the spot. On the second visit, it was also early, so we were one of 3 tables. I had the Porcini filled pasta purses in a Marsala sauce. Quite rich, so I got the privilege to take my time to savor each bite. Beautiful dish. My wife had the Pappardelle in a gorgonzola & pistachio sauce. Very rich, but also super tasty. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it's a tad pricey for the amount you get. We did get very rich dishes, so we sure didn't leave hungry, but for the price, I expected about 25% more on my plate. But it's a great place for a romantic night out.

This is the very very best Italian food I have ever had. If you want a thin tic this is it. The owner is from the old country and his wide is an american. She is the person who waites on you. And if you like wine she can find you what you are looking for. It is amazing just how perfect this place is. its not the best service as I would give it a 4 out of five but the food is off the chart. give it a chance and you will find yourself sweped away to Italy. one of the top five of burien

The food is always amazing! The calamari appetizer is tender and ,my favorite. No matter what the entrée is, always great. And Lindsay's tiramisu is a must. Thank you Carlo and Lindsay!!!!!

What a neighborhood gem! Some of the finest Italian food I've had in Seattle (Southern Italy/Calabrian dishes). All-Italian wine list (nice Pinot Grigio by the glass). Wood-fired pizzas are wonderful. I had the mushroom-cheese pasta and it was fantastic. Service was friendly, but a bit off by the end of the meal, but I chalk that up to a large party. Definitely returning. Note: they take credit cards, but not American Express

Up from Sandy Eggo and had dinner here tonight.Spent a couple of years in Italia and this place is authentic, The service was top notch, the decor appealing, background music soft and the food excellent The pizza had a thin crust and fresh topping. The gnocchi was served in a delicate sauce, the pocini pasta was excellent ans the wild boar was outstanding. The desserts were refreshing, particularly the limon gelatto ~! Grazie mille,

My in-Laws have been bragging about this restaurant, so we drove up from Portland, Oregon to check it out. We were so impressed. The food was absolutely fantastic, the service was amazing. The owners are so nice. They make you feel so special, like you're dining in their own home. Wonderful array of food & wine to choose from. We'd strongly recommend Osteria Da Primo!

Went here with my daughter who loves spaghetti more than life itself. Ordered clam pasta for myself (jPasta Vongole) , simple spaghetti marinara for my daughter, and two salads. Service was indifferent at best, the decor is lifeless and when the food arrived it settled itself smack dab in the middle of two stars, mediocre to lousy. (I reserve one star for food that is really outrageously bad. ) My clams were tasteless, rubbery. Pasta tired as if it sat under a heat lamp. My teenage daughter said her pasta was "ok", but she will say that when she glops bottled red sauce on re-heated pasta from the night before for an afternoon snack. Salads were limp and over-dressed. My experience was best summed up by "Meh". I don't understand the 4 and 5 star reviews for this place. You have to really be off your game to serve up food this far from decent.

Authentic and delicious. In other words, it's a sure thing. Excellent wine, food, and warm and attentive service in an elegant low-key setting. Loved the linguine ai frutta di mare. Perfect al dente strands of toothsome noodles nestled in a spicy tomato and olive oil broth topped with supremely fresh and succulent shrimp, tiny sweet clams in shells so thick they scream high quality, and tender rings of calamari. Definitely try your meals with the Calabrian peppers in oil, it's not too spicy and makes every dish more interesting. This spot is a beautiful way to spend an evening.

I'm horrified that I've been living 15 minutes from this place for 7 years and just discovered it. It's the best Italian food I've ever had. I've never been to Italy but I have a few friends who say this is the best Italian food they've ever had outside of Italy. It's a tiny place so consider reservations. Service is slow and not particularly friendly but it doesn't matter. Go to linger. Pace yourself. You won't regret it.

The food here is good and fairly priced. However, the servers were kind of snooty & unfriendly as if our presence was 'putting them out'. We won't be returning because of such rude service.

A nice Italian restaurant in downtown Burien. This is the kind of place I would take my mom to. They had a nice wine selection, good ambiance, the food was good, and they served their bread with oil and vinegar (which I vastly prefer to butter). A little on the pricey side, but that's to be expected from any restaurant that has actual white linen tablecloths.

It's so great to have a place like Primo's in our community that you can go to for date night or bring the whole family and everyone leaves full and happy :) Our family loves the wood fired pizza's, baked spaghetti, salads, calamari and the ice cold Peroni. Carlo makes sure, even on the busiest nights, to come out and greet his customers in the dining area. Service is always spot on (thanks Lindsay!) with bread refills, full water glasses and overall friendliness. ...and please don't leave without enjoying the Tiramisu!

We love Burien and thought we would look for a new restaurant there. We went there on a whim after seeing all the great reviews on Yelp. The atmosphere is pretty much non-existent. It is a basic rectangle of a strip mall storefront with maybe 10 tables lined up against each wall. Walls painted a deep red and homemade gallery style art. It started off badly with some very dry white bread and olive oil and balsamic. The salad on the other hand was the best part of the meal. I had the one with creamy balsamic and it was flavorful and well dressed. The wine we ordered was pretty terrible and after ordering a second glass of something else, the next was no better. And the staff seemed to know little to nothing about the wine. When we asked about another glass, she said she would get the menu instead of offering any knowledge of what they had to offer. The entrees were fairly awful. I had the pasta and opted to order the only one of the menu that was "fresh", so that seemed like the best choice. I had the fresh pasta with tomato sauce and spicy sausage. The sauce had no flavor. I respect that they didn't cover it in sauce like most American places would, but it didn't have any flavor at all! The only flavor in fact was the spiciness of the sausage. The pasta was heavy and bland, which I wouldn't expect from a handmade pasta. My husband had the pizza, which actually had pretty good flavor, but the crust was not crusty at all, it was limp and chewy. Strange since they had a wood-burning stove. I am not sure what went wrong here. All in all, one of the worst Italian meals I have had in a long time and it came with a hefty $72 price tag.

**Quick note: this is a restaurant that values dinner conversation and savoring your food. The service is not slow because the waitstaff is bad, it's because they are giving you space to enjoy your meal. And it's more expensive because they actually use quality ingredients. If you want fast and cheap, there's a Denny's not 5 minutes down the road: have fun, and don't let the door hit you on the way out.** From the generously sized antipasti plate with a wide variety of meats and cheese to the mango passion fruit dessert, this was a fantastic meal. My gorgonzola and fig ravioli was beautifully balanced, and the Italian sausage baked dish my friend ordered was great! Plus they have a decent selection of wines, with plenty of by-the-glass selections for those not planning on busting through a whole bottle. I'm not sure why a "pizza connoisseur" would get pizza at a place that is obviously not a pizza joint in the first place, but the one that came to the next table over looked and smelled fantastic. I would advise people to ignore the part Sicilian guy whose panties got in a twist about this place on 05/16/2010 and try it for yourself before forming an opinion, but maybe that's just me. We're definitely heading back soon!

What a fun place especially with extension of the bar counter so you can enjoy the wood fires oven while sitting there. I never liked thin crust pizza until I had it here - got my attention and my favor!! Pizza and salad is our usual but every entree I have had is a winner too! Did a number of pizza for a surprise party - it was a bit spendy but well worth it - even went back for more!!

I took my family and two friends to Osteria Da Primo last night because we were near the Seattle airport and had read good reviews. We had a horrible experience. Don't eat here. The service was aloof and lackadaisical. The Entrees came out only after an unbearably long wait. The pasta had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp and the pizzas were soggy (yes, soggy -- disgustingly so). We kept the pasta but sent back the pizzas. [As an aside, I almost never send food back. I understand how hard it is to run a kitchen. I am patient. But these were inedible.] The kitchen, to their credit, sent out two replacement pizzas on the house, which were much better. They were not soggy, but the edges were burned (yes, burned, black) but at least you could eat around the char. But the worst part. The owner came to the table to check on us and instead of apologizing he proceeded to defend his soggy pizzas. He actually said this: "where I am from, the pizzas are soft not crispy." To which I replied, "Soft is OK, but those were soggy." He then challenged me on on my pizza creds. When I explained that not only do I eat probably 200 pizzas a year and consider myself a connoisseur of pizzas both crispy and soft, but that I was half italian and grew up with a Sicilian grandmother who made pizza weekly -- to this he responded by barking at me in Italian (i don't speak Italian) and then dismissing me as "not really italian" and huffed away from the table. I was totally stunned. Incredulous. Ha! Can't think of anything better to say? Don't get mad at me because your restaurant was empty at 8pm on a Saturday night. This is why. We will never go back. Bad food and bad 'tude lost you one customer for sure and probably a dozen others who read this honest review. Again, don't eat here. Don't support such horrible treatment of patrons.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
