The service here is awful. I called to make a take out order for my family on Fathers Day. We were looking forward to the delicious food that Sukho Thai has. When I called I was asked to hold. The guy threw down the phone and I waited 6 1/2 minutes. I heard him come back to the phone and hang up on me. My husband called right back and they asked him to hold again and he refused. Told them that we were hung up on and asked they place our order. They did! I live in Essex and frequent this restaurant. I am extremely disappointed that we are treated poorly by the same person every time.."the man with the attitude". I hear the same from many others. I believe he is one of the owners and I feel he should be replaced. The food is too good to have such horrible customer service.

"Filling and inexpensive" is what my husband said. We got a delicious noodle dish with shrimp (can't remember which one but it wasn't pad Thai) and the fried rice with pineapple... So so so good! They were packed and only two very busy waiters. Good enough service.

I tried to go for dinner tonight and as we walked in the manager sent us away informing us that the kitchen stops serving at 6:45, okay that makes complete sense that a restaurant would stop serving dinner at dinner time. . . But then we stepped outside and we realized in wasn't even 6:45 yet! I am not one to hold a grudge but this isn't the first time I have felt unwelcome at your establishment. If you haven't read Setting The Table by Danny Meyer (which based on my experience I'm quite sure you have not) check it out. Your food is pretty good but the front of house needs some work.

Every time I come to this place it is always packed. The food here is probably the best Thai food in the Chittenden area. You can also bring your own beverages!! Last time I went with my girlfriend, we had the pineapple fried rice, pad si ew, thai tea, and fried banana dessert. The portions are a good size so we ended up taking some of both our entrees home! This is a great place to eat after a day of shopping or watching a movie at the theater.

I'm not sure from where the complaints stem. The food is fresh, fragrant, tasty, and spicy. The atmosphere is cozy. The portions are good, and there's a lot of value in the price. It's a great little reprieve from the Burlington and Winooski scene.

Just had lunch here and it was so good, I'm going back tomorrow! Had the best Tom Kha soup of my life and the green papaya salad was very good, as well. Hubby had the Chicken Pad Thai and it was very tasty. They had a Mango Curry as a special that I really wanted to try. I hope they have it again tomorrow! If I lived up here, this would be a once a week stop for me. Give it a try.

You will honestly not find better Thai food in Vermont. This upgrade from the former Thai restaurant is serving more fresh ingredients and more authentic flavors. All the appetizers are homemade by the owner's mother. The specials menu is excellent, the fish specials are dazzling. Go try.

I like this place and will keep going back. It is usually pretty busy, but not loud. The prices are decent and I love the massman curry. I am no expert at Thai food, so I don't know how authentic , etc.

I really enjoy this place. I mean it's not a fancy kind of place but it's great for a fast, relatively cheap meal. The portions are plentiful and I will probably be getting take out here a lot. Try the curry puff, they're amazing and if you're in the mood for dessert, coconut fried ice cream is the way to go.

The food was amazing!! It was the best curry I have ever had and they were so accomodating by making it to my taste. The staff was friendly and courteous and the food came out quickly. I will always go here and never go back to Tiny Thai!!

This is the former Tiny Thai in the Essex Outlets. We adored Tiny Thai, but the quality seems to have taken a massive turn for the worse since it became Sukho. We ordered two of our favorite dishes for takeout, Pad Si Ew and Kao Pad Krapow, and in both the veggies were awful, the protein was bland and the rice or noodles part was ok. I guess we will have to try Tiny Thai of Winooski if we want to continue to get good Thai food around here. Bummer!

This place rocks! I know a lot of people say things have changed from Tiny Thai, but I think it's just in their heads. I just ordered takeout and it was sooo good. The wait staff is very friendly and quick. It takes 15 to 20 minutes to get your food, which is pretty typical around here. Awesome place for Thai food!

I worship this place. Whenever I would fly back home for work/school, my fiance and I would always stop by for our "last meal" before he dropped me off at the airport. Love their thai ice tea - I was not a believer at first but after 2-3 tries, you cannot get enough of it. The chicken krapow is fantastic and super spicey; you have been warned of the delicious blow to your mouth. Finally, for dessert the purple sticky rice with custard is beyond words. Price is good for the amount you get and the guy that is always there to serve - love him. Great server.

On the front of the menu it reads: It may surprise you to know that Thai people eat their food with a fork in their left hand and a spoon in their right. The main courses are set in front of and shared by all. Everybody spoons what they would like onto their own plate of rice. Noodle dishes are often eaten with chopsticks and in street stalls among friends or coworkers... I really wish I went with friends to enjoy Thai properly family style, so I'll give it another shot - but my visit wasn't spectacular. It wasn't bad either. It was okay across the board. Atmosphere, Service, Food, Flavor, Quality, and Value. Solid B. If you're in Essex and outlet shopping, this spot can't be beat - but I won't call it a destination yet, but who knows? When trying a new Thai place - I ALWAYS judge on the Tom Kha. For you laypeople that's coconut soup with lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves and sometimes mushrooms. It was good... Not the best. The Pad Thai was presented well and the portion was very good. All in all, I had modest expectations for a Thai place in the Essex Outlets. I was not disappointed. Go next time you're in town blowing your Canadian Dollars.

Ok here's the thing. Service matters. Attitude matters. I've eaten here a few times and I really like the food. But... hey you: the guy with the arms... what the heck is your problem??!? I feel like I should apologize for troubling you every time I eat here! I've gone by myself for lunch and after telling you "just one for lunch" you've sighed turned around, not saying anything, and grabbed one table that was pushed together with another table and DRAGGED it loudly across the floor to create a single table for me... Are you serious? Where are your manners? What the heck are your gigantic arms for? If you really feel the need to create a single table then pick it up quietly like a gentleman. It clearly disturbed everyone in the restaurant when the table made that "nails on a chalkboard" screetch as you pulled it two feet away from the other one. Or how about a little foresight and manage the dining room and have a single table ready to go before hand. Is it really rare people go there alone for their lunch hour? Was it a surprise? I really get the sense that you're all in your head about "no one understands how hard I work and I'm the only one here and I'm the only one keeping this place under control and I am very special and important but no one understands or appreciates me" ..... do you even realize that whole vibe is completely obvious? Are you aware that you're easy to read? Ug... thai food is my favorite and this place is the closest to my house but every time I want to eat here I have to decide whether or not dealing with your vibe is worth it!

Wait to be seated sign when you walk into the cozy restaurant. Quickly seated at a very nice window table for two. Waiter was knowledgeable about the menu and service was fast and attentive. Food came out fast too. Tom Kha soup, Ba Mee, Dim Sum, and Massaman were all very good. Try the sauce on the table. Bathroom was very clean. All items priced fair. All in all five stars are deserved

Is it the best Thai food ever? No. Do I crave it all the time? Pretty much. Is the price right on? You bet. So here's my update (and upgrade of stars): It has become our go-to place on nights I really really really don't feel like cooking. (let's be honest here: ever night is a night I don't feel like cooking.) My husband's crave here is the Tom Kha soup with shrimp ($5). The broth is simply amazing -- love that tender tang of lemongrass and lime against the creamy sweet goodness of coconut milk, topped by the freshest hint of cilantro, mmmm... But sometimes the shrimp could be tastier (I know: we're incland. It's hard.) I prefer the Tom Yum soup sometimes, especially when I have a cold -- it is a flavorful hot-and-sour-and-slighltly-spicy Thai soup, all complex and lovely. And I always get the Som Tum, the Green Papaya Salad. For the uninitiated, don't be alarmed by the papaya part. In fact, forget that I ever mentioned the papaya -- it doesn't taste like papaya as you've had it before (which is delicious). I can't describe it accurately, but if you love Thai flavors and the way they mix and balance and playoff one another, try it. It's only 5 bucks or so, and absolutely worth it. And I love that they put green beans on it. Never had it that way before, but it adds a nice freshness to the mix. (Note to management: I still want more peanuts on this.) I've tried a few things here, including the Ba Mee -- thin ramen-like noodles in a lovely duck broth with Chinese-style BBQ pork (sweet), bean sprouts, cilantro (a deal at 10$) Our favorite waiter, Patrick, says the best dishes are the green curry and the ChooChee Duck ($13). I love love love duck, and the Choo Chee involves a sweet, spicy, creamy curry around roasted duck (flavorful dark meat), tender bell peppers, pineapple, and huge-for-cherry tomatoes. This is the first dish I ever had of Thai cuisine (like, back in college, in the 90s), and it made me fall in love with Thai food from head to toe. Sukho's is a very nice production of this lovely, exotic dish. I have also tried the green curry here, and it is splendid -- especially if you love coconut milk. I find the spice level just right, and the broth feels rich but not heavy, complex but not muddled. (I've tried a few other dishes, some of which I found a wee bit salty, but none of them were terrible.) I also love the regular fried rice and the spring rolls. And the Thai custard (cold) with sticky purple rice (warm) is one of the most amazind desserts I've ever tried -- not too sweet, but subtle in its flavor and in its contrass of temperature and textures and flavors. That's what I love about Thai food: the careful balancing of contrasts. Sweet and salty, savory and sour, crunchy and smooth, freshly green and deeply rich. And Sukho Thai does its best to make that balance shine.

A few months ago, knowing that the Sukho closed surprisingly early, we called ahead to see what time the kitchen closed. We were told 8:30. We arrived at 8:15 and we were not allowed to be seated...the kitchen had closed. We love the food, but after being treated so poorly, we decided to take a break from the restaurant until tonight. It was my wife's birthday, and some friends of ours tried to drop off a cake to be refrigerated while we played a round of minigolf around the corner. Our friends were informed that that would not be possible (so they bought some ice and kept it in their car). When we sat down for dinner, we were told that because we were a group of 7, 18% gratuity would be added to our bill. Despite being a common practice, this was surprisingly not noted on the menu. Our service was slow, despite it being a relatively slow night. One of the main courses did not arrive till 10 minutes after everyones else's had been delivered. As we wrapped up, I ran out to the car to grab the birthday cake (it was from my wife's favorite bakery in Burlington). I brought the cake and candles to the service galley. I had a assumed that our waiter could take it from here. I was wrong. After paying our bill, the cake did not come out. I had to go back into the galley, light the candles, gather plates and silverware, and bring it out to our table myself. Before doing so, I asked our waiter for a lighter, in which he informed me that he didn't smoke. It shocks me that this restaurant can survive with such shitty service. The food is great...but the lack of attention and basic care to their customers is abysmal. It looks as though we will be making the extra trip into Winooski for all of our future Thai experiences.

Refused take out service. Not that busy and would take dine in only. Called later and they then said they would do it. Went else where. Lost us as customers for good!!

They deviate a little from other Thai places in the area with menu items that you don't find anywhere else. Waits can be long and service a little slow, but they are very friendly and consistent. Food can tend toward salty but never so much that I had a problem with it.

This restaurant is a staple of my Vermont dining out experience.... It's not the best Thai restaurant but certainly the best in the area. The food is well-balanced, and for some reason I think I'm addicted to it. The waitstaff knows us and treats us well. The service here is awesome no matter who you get, and the food comes out very very quickly. Sadly we always find ourselves eating our favorites whenever I go here with my boyfriend and it hasn't give us a chance to try everything on the menu. But everything I've had I've really liked (and I'm craving the Ba Mee right now. But I don't want to drive to Essex) Plus every time I've been here the restaurant has been very clean and quiet enough to have a conversation.

Although it is a bit of a hike for me to get to, at times I find myself looking for any excuse to head out to Essex just so I can have lunch or dinner at Sukho. Between the tasty dishes, large portions, friendly waitstaff, and a very reasonable price point, it's no wonder I frequent this place as much as I do. While I have settled on a few go-to dishes (their Spicy Cashew Chicken is something else!), they often have great dinner specials that I will explore once in a while. It's a fairly relaxed setting with lots of "for two" tables, so it's a good date spot, but it can also accommodate larger groups as well. Great for any occasion. And with their generous portions, you'll have lunch for tomorrow. Can't beat that.

Definitely a fan of Sukho Thai .... my friends even threw my baby shower luncheon here because they know I enjoy it so much. Absolutely wonderful food! This is also our "in house" date night food choice. Everything I've tried has been good, though if they are running the mango curry special when you go, get that!, and the servers are always friendly. I recommend to all my friends. Yummy, yummy!

I used to frequent the previous Thai restaurant at this location. When it switched to Sukho Thai, it was a while before I went back. I was sorry I waited! Sukho Thai is so much better! The best Thai food I've had in Vermont. Staff is friendly; portions are huge. I recommend the Tom Kha soup and the pineapple fried rice entree. (But everything I've had here is good.) I am now a happy regular here. Delicious!

Had dinner here last night with the family and was surprised to see the change as well from TinyThai as this has been one of my favourite places when visiting Burlington! Menu has not changed to my inspection at all and the food seemed to pack the same amazing flavour. One thing I noticed is that tonight there seemed to be 4 servers when it was Tiny Thai there was only usually 2! This appeared like a beter idea as it would offer better service! We ordered a Som Tam to start then the Pad Prik and and Pad Kee Mao. My wife said it was very salty as she was very thirsty for quite some time after! I didn't notice it as much! Still very good value for the price and I love the fact that you can bring your own beer or wine here! I thought the Pad Kee Mao ( Drunken noodles) were

My coworkers and I always come here for our Thai Thursday lunch and they are awesome! I usually get the Kao Pad Krapow extra spicy (5 stars), but I've also tried their soups and seared tuna. I've never been disappointed! They also have really good iced coffee!

Food is good. The service isn't awful, but I go there for the food, so... Bring your own beer or wine. And straws. They're weird about giving you straws. ?

My gf and I are in the area for the weekend and we were looking for something good to eat but not too expensive, and I believe we found it at Sukho Thai. We decided to share two appetizers (Golden Triangle & Thai Spring Rolls) and one main dish (Chicken Pad Thai). The appetizers, although good, seemed about average, meaning that nothing about them really stood out. The sweet and sour sauce provided with the appetizers was quite good. What really made the meal stand out, though, was by far the Chicken Pad Thai. I may not be the most well versed connoisseur when it comes to Pad Thai, but all I can say is that this was just really good food. The service wasn't as good or attentive as I would have liked, and I think the "no refills on any drink" (I assume it actually means no FREE refills) policy is a bit absurd, but overall it was a good eating experience.

Stopped in for a late lunch today. WOW! Quite authentic and very rich flavors, unlike some Thai restaurants. Everything we had was delicious and the spices were complex, fresh and strong. Everything is homemade daily. If you like Thai Iced Coffee, the one here is outstanding. Jacked me up way past dinner. Prices are a bit more than when it was Tiny Thai but my wife & I both felt we got a very fair value. They don't serve alcohol; don't take Amex. My wife did order her dish with no onions. I think they interpreted that as extra onions. The waiter (not thai), never wrote it on the slip even though he acknowledged the request. So, if you have any special requests, ask again to make sure he got it. Overall, we were very pleased and will certainly return. Certainly not high-end ambiance. Casual for sure. Comfortable. Singles seem to like it.

Thai is a great break from a long day of being on your feet. We weren't asking for much, and that's what we got. It's a simple place with the basic menu items. The spring rolls were a bit greasier than I'd hoped, but the entrees were well executed even if they weren't creatively inspired. I wouldn't drive out of my way to go, but I'd go again next time we're at the Essex Shoppes.

I'm glad great thai food has finally come to the Burlington area. I live in a thai neighborhood in NYC, but spend a decent amount of time every month in Burlington, and Thai was always a giant missing spot in Burlington's options. My girlfriend and I would endure Tiny Thai once every 3 months when we were really craving thai food, but usually would just eat somethin else. Now we drive 20 minutes for Sukho Thai - it's the real deal. They'll make it spicy if you crave it, and all the flavors are right. Their Larb is fantastic, perfectly flavored with the right citrus and right heat. Their Massaman is also delicious, the flavors all come together perfectly with the creamy coconut milk and depth of spices. Their pad ka prao is good, they'll make it both normal and ground meat (though you'll have to ask about ground, it's not on the menu). The ground meat really knocks your socks off. Their Pad Ki Mao is delicious, just the right amount of tamarind sweetness to go along with the heat - noodles are perfectly cooked. All the other burlington thai options are typical americanized thai restaurants, watered down flavors and emphasis on things that thai people themselves don't really focus on. Sukho Thai really hits home with authentic flavors, bringing a new level of thai food to burlington. I highly recommend this to people who are craving authentic thai food.

I really had high hopes for this location. I don't think I set the bar to high...I mean only as high as Tiny Thai! Now I am not 100% sure why the name had been changed. They seem to have a lot of the same staff from Tiny Thai here. Yet something has changed and I'm sad to report...For the worst? Yes folks I said it! For the worst! (Damn it makes me a sad panda to have to write this review!) Where do I begin? Oh yes! When I first walked in the door. The service here took ages! I don't mean for just being sat I mean for EVERYTHING! I have been here a few times now and most of the times they took a good 20 minutes before they even came over to get our drink orders. This is a huge issue with me. One of the FEW things that I rate a wait staff person on is when I get my drinks. Considering that is really the only thing that they have full control over them self. So needless to say I was not impressed here with that. The food also took a long long while to come out. The restaurant it self isn't all that big. So I am still clueless as to why this happens. Another minus in my book. Don't even get me started on the check.... If you come here and you need a quick dinner..Oh I don't know maybe your going to see a movie? You may wanna look else where. The food on the other hand is pretty good. I have tried 2-3 dishes and I liked 2 of the 3! As for apps we did try the crab rangoon and the veggie rolls. Great starters. One night we even tried the fried ice cream and that was ok. I have had better. Then again we don't go to a Thai place for it's awesome dessert menu! I know! Now on to some of the good things about Sukho Thai..They have a TON of parking! So this should never be an issue for you. Plus its within walking distance of the Essex Cinemas! (So you would think they would have their games faces on for dinner?). They also have a "Bring your own drink" policy...AKA Bring your own alcohol to dinner! Something they kept from Tiny Thai. Other than that its pretty simple. The service was deathly slow on all 3 trips sadly. The food on the other hand was pretty good. At this point I wish they would have kept Tiny Thai! Wishful thinking I guess gets the best of me!

I was a regular at Tiny Thai, and have been to Sukho Thai a number of times since they changed over. To echo other reviewers, service can be hit or miss - even when empty (a rare occurrence in such a small location)...the wait staff has a tendency to disappear. The food was also similarly inconsistent the first few visits (heavy on the garlic one trip, bland as anything on another). They may have been working out some kinks in the kitchen. On my most recent visits, the food has been much better. The pad see-ew I regularly get (without the fish sauce) needs some help from the condiment trays conveniently located on every table - I ladle on the dried chili peppers and sriracha. The price is reasonable, and their portion sizes are good. I wouldn't recommend trying to take a large group here due to the limited dining space, but there's not usually a long wait for a table for 4 or fewer except on Friday and Saturday nights when crowds can swell due to the nearby cinemas.

Tried twice. Not sure about a third visit. Each time my food was so over spiced it was barely edible. Both times I was told that Thai food is spicy ??? No kidding, I've had it 100's of time. Neither dish was marked as spicy. The first time the waitress told me to take it home and add coconut milk. What???? This visit I even checked with our waitress (the same one) before ordering. Now I've purchased to meals that I haven't been able to eat. I guess I'll travel to Tiny Thai in Winooski. Too bad.
