Bad food. Not good. But hey, they deliver... It's a nice location where the old Dunkin Donuts used to be. I just wish there was a cool diner-style cafe place here instead, with a counter like the old DD's. That would be cool. If you want Thai food in Brattleboro, go to Taste of Thai, which is a mobile cart at the gas station right off Exit 3. Or go to Sala Thai if you want to sit down, on the corner of Canal and South Main, near the Co-op.

Great stopping off point for lunch or evening food options during North & South I-91 route and the food is exceptionally authentic as it's clear most staff and the kitchen aren't using English as the primary language so that is a great start! The Thai iced tea was as good as I'd get in the NYC Metro, the mango chicken with basil had a nice bang to it but wasn't so spicy it wasn't palatable, and the chicken satay with peanut sauce was amazing as well - don't get me wrong, I was hungry when I stopped in and am aware that is influencing my overly dramatic verb usage!

An excellent place to dine in Brattleboro! Went there for lunch with my wife on Sunday. Dining room is immaculate and the waitstaff is very attentive. I had the chicken Himmaphan and she had the chicken cashew nut. Both were delicious! Ingredients were super fresh. Whole bill was a mere $15. A bargain and a half.

Loved it! I'm pretty picky about Thai food. I grew up in California, where there is quite a selection, and so far have been nothing but disappointed in New York City and that general vicinity. I stayed at Forty Putney Bed and Breakfast for a few days, and ordered out for Thai Bamboo, and I think it's the best Thai I've had since I left California. I had the Pad See-ew, and asked for it to be a little spicy, and it was excellent. It comes with regular broccoli and carrots (instead of the standard Asian broccoli), which I thought was excellent. My husband had the Gai Graprow and Thai dumplings and was also pleased. On the whole, a great meal!

It's a bit hard to judge a restaurant on one plate and one visit but my experience here was very positive. I was reading other reviews and it seems to run a large gamut, from awesome to really bad... not sure if it is a question of expectations or if it is really inconsistent. I came here mid-afternoon, a little after 3 pm and was handed the "dinner" menu, which probably explain in part the prices higher than I was expecting. Dinner portions are generous and are clearly aimed to be shared, as it is typically the case for asian cuisine. Being alone, I settled for a single plate of "Basil and chili duck", priced around $14. It was awesome! Very tasty and "hot" enough for my taste (I like it very spicy) which was much better than I was expecting based on previous experiences in Brattleboro. The plate was very generous and there was plenty of big pieces of duck so it turns out to be an excellent value. Two persons here could easily share this place with an appetizer like a soup and this would become a great dinner! The setting is very nice with large windows on Brattleboro pretty little downtown. Service was attentive and professional. I added steamed rice and hot "house tea" (free refills and good) and my total bill was under $20. I definitively want to come back here and try the lunch menu. And for the record, I went to Thailand and though that the food here was pretty authentic (at least the plate I had).

Decent but not inspired Thai. Tom yum soup could have used a bit more heat and had a sweet finish that wasn't bad, just unexpected. Gai gra pow was supposed to be crispy but was not. Flavor was good but again needed more heat. Two noodle dishes, pad see ew and pad Thai could also have used more seasoning generally. I expect Thai to have vibrant flavors and , for the right dishes, fiery hot. Service was good. If you have not had Thai elsewhere, you would probably like Thai Bamboo better.

Food looked good but after 20 minutes with no visit from the waitstaff we just had to leave....

Dropped into Thai Bamboo to pick up dinner on the go. I have to say that every time I come in here I thoroughly enjoy the food and the experience. When I entered the store the employee was extremely polite and struck up a lovely conversation while I waited. When I got the food I remembered why I love this place so much. The Pad Thai was great, the dumplings were incredible, and my partner loved the pineapple fried rice. The only critique is that the prices are a little high in comparison to some of the other Thai food you can get in the area, but then again they hand you intense portions!

Great food! Arrived with a large group of 10-12 around 9:00 pm. Once we ordered. The food came out fast, fresh and hot.. Great service for almost closing time..

Out & about in Brattleboro with my son & his friends looking for a nice place to grab a bite to eat. We passed over a few spots till we stumbled across Thai Bamboo. Luckly, they weren't too full and able to accommodate our party of four (on a Friday night, no less). Our waitress was prompt, efficient and very friendly, took our food orders and brought our appetizers to the table promptly. Spring rolls were fresh & tasty, and my son & his friends enjoyed their dishes... I wish I could remember all of the different foods we ordered, but the only name I can summon up is the drunken squid, which they all sampled and raved about. I ordered a chicken dish that was well marinated & flavorful. As I settled the check, one of my son's friends ordered sticky rice to go. I'm sure he enjoyed that as well!

Lunch of Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp was very good and at a decent price (under 10.00). The sole server (on Black Friday, no less) kept her composure and was gracious throughout service.

Was starving and looking for a good meal that wasn't bar food. came across Thai Bamboo on our stroll. You can't really screw up thai food. Service was very slow and there were only about 3 tables occupied. I ordered the basil and chili with tofu and hubby got the drunken noodles. The food took a while to come out. Shouldn't 5 minutes be enough time to prep all this together? My food came out luke warm and it was bland. My rice was not even warm. The tofu was a bit overcooked. But I did not send it back because we were both starving and I needed food in me. I really could not drink anymore water to hold my hunger pangs. Husband meal however was hot and had a very good flavor to it. I wish I had ordered noodles. For $1.25 you get a very small cup of tea and they did not even bother to refill it for me but your water was refilled every time you took sip. Luckily, I won't be visiting Brattleboro anytime soon. And I would not eat here again.

Not as good as when it was Thai garden. But edible. Pls Thai was ok. Yellow curry (beef) wasn't too great.

I stopped in for a quick lunch and was pleased they had so many vegetarian/vegan options. Vegetarians beware that the veggie hot and sour soup is made with fish stock but there is a vegetable soup and a coconut soup that are both totally vegan. I went with the pad thai (no egg or fish sauce), and it was tasty, but a little on the sweet side. My friend went with the spicy tofu with basil, which was excellent. Service was friendly and I would definitely go back.

Horrible experience! Don't waste ur time! Called before hand and asked about reservation, they said oh no need just come in we have availability- we go in and only two waitress working and tables available but made us wait for 20 minutes regardless- after 20 minutes they tell us there's going to be a longer wait for food- we walked out! Ridiculous! Worse experience ever- first time in Vermont and not a great start at this stupid waste of space restaurant!

I got the drunken noodles with shrimp and chicken with a hot and sour soup to start. Everything tasted great but our waitress seemed distracted while taking our order. She was very attentive throughout our meal though. The menu is expansive and many of the offerings seemed a bit expensive when taking into account where this restaurant is and what the average customer is likely expecting to spend (jasmine rice didn't come with any of the entrees, it was an additional charge). However, like I said, our waitress was attentive (despite being a bit distracted, and a bit hard to understand as much as I hate mentioning that) and also the restaurant was very clean and the seating was arranged neatly and optimally for traffic flow and guest comfort. The service was timely as well, good pacing between ordering, soup arrival, entree arrival, check-in, and delivery of the bill.

Amazingly delicious graprow chicken (regular minced, not crispy). The portion was HUGE. The beef satay was awesome too. Its tender and the marinade is flavorful. I've eaten a lot of thai food and Thai Bamboo is a standout! The waitstaff were attentive and always there to fill a water glass. Great!

Thai Bamboo is one of my favorite restaurants back home. It serves quality food at a reasonable price. Their Pad Thai is delicious (one of the best Pad Thai dishes I have had), as are their spring & fresh rolls. The staff is nice, & the restaurant has a pleasant, quiet atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Thai Bamboo to anyone looking for a restaurant in the Brattleboro area!

Thai food for people who've never had Thai food. The locals seem to like it but I found it lacking. Pad Thai is a common dish that I've had a gazillion times at several Thai restaurants in different states/provinces/countries. Somehow, Thai Bamboo has made it nearly unrecognizable ... it's pure white and bland bland bland. See the photo I uploaded ... it was disgusting. I had to mix curry into it in order to get it down. The curry was also weak. It tasted like someone opened a can of coconut milk and added a hint of curry paste. No spice whatsoever. Service was ok -- a little lacking throughout and then abruptly taking away the food that we were still contemplating finishing.

not bad, service is slightly slow, meal is a bit pricey for dinner which is what drives it down a star. Dishes: Thai Iced tea (no tapioca): The normal of it, what can I say. 2.50 I think Beef Massamun curry: above average, medium spiceness was perfect for me, good amount of food and a LOT of broth. Got sticky rice which worked well. 11.95 + 2.50 for sticky Mango with sticky rice/coconut: it was the norm but it satisfied me well. 6:95

So, the food's still good, but I'd regret it if I didn't note a shitty experience here. Ordered some food for pickup. In the past, I have had great service from this place. The food is promptly ready, the staff there are courteous, and everything's fresh and tasty. Tonight, I arrived and there were about five people whose orders had all been screwed up, either forgotten or flat out wrong. The staff working at the register and those coming in and out of the kitchen scrambled to figure out who got what, when, with little regard for the customers waiting an additional half hour for their orders. Someone took my money and apathetically handed me my order, which was wrong. I asked for my money back. It took about ten more minutes for that to happen. I needed to leave since I'd already waited too long and had somewhere to be. As I pocketed my money, one of the staff members behind the counter said, "Come back sometime and tell us your name, and we'll help you out." Sure. I completely trust that if I returned, I'd just tell them my name and get "helped out." Inexcusably bad service for me and everyone else who was there tonight. Will be a while before I go back.

I've had two less than I wanna pay for experiences here. The first, I brought a friend from out of town here for dinner. Although it was still open for 25 more minutes according to their hours posted (which is rare in Brattleboro, and this is why) when we opened the door and walked in, they said they were closed, like nearly everything else in town. My friend was really disappointed and appalled at such practice. A couple months later I returned craving Thai chicken wings (you know, the kind every Thai restaurant on planet earth has). I ordered their lovely Thai tea. When the guy came to get my food order, I said I would start with the chicken wings. He said, "Oh, we don't have any of those." I assumed it was because of the global chicken wing shortage? Although not as serious as global warming or the crashing global economy, these things customers remember when they ponder the limited time human life has on earth and have to decide how they want to spend it and where, and when they have to part with valuable resources, like cash.

Food was ok, nothing special.. Not worth the wait.. I came in by myself on a sunday(Columbus day weekend) I wait 45 mins for an app and then my meal came out well I was eating my app. Finished my meal and have not been approached by my waitress to refill my water or tea. Very bad experience and would never recommend this place.

My fiancé and I love this place. The food is very high quality and the menu has a lot to offer! If you are vegan, be sure to order your food without fish sauce. Most thai food has fish sauce in it, and I definitely could taste it in their "vegetable" soup. Each time we go we get a hot soup, panang tofu curry and the melon curry which is made with pumpkin and is very delicious. Our friends and family members have tried other entrees and appetizers and have loved everything. The rice costs you extra here. It's not a big deal, but something to think about.

My wife and I travel to Brattleboro a few times each year, but this was or first stop at Thai Bamboo, and it is going to be a regular on our visits. To sum up what follows...try this place out. If you like Thai, you'll love this place. Considering the bright open atmosphere, great service and most importantly terrific food, this is a value standout. Their lunch specials are all around $6 - $7. We ordered Papaya Salad (Som-Tom) and Steamed dumplings for appetizers. The salad ($6.50) was fresh with a strong Thai vinegar dressing that complemented the green papaya perfectly. The steamed dumplings ($4.50) were done just right with just enough bite to the dough without it being too thick or overpowering. For our main courses we had yellow duck curry (~$7) which was just perfect. Tender duck with the right amount of fat left on in a curry that had a great mix of hot spice, sweet coconut and pineapple. We also ordered Ginger and mushrooms with tofu ($6.50) that had a light ginger sauce. The tofu was lightly stir fried and added nicely to the dish. All the veggies in both dishes were fresh and still crisp. We loved the first two courses so much we had to try dessert ($3.25 each) and were not disappointed. The sticky rice with mango was a winner. The rice was just sweet enough and the mango was at the height of ripeness. We also ordered the fried banana with honey, which until now has never been one of my favorites. Instead of the usual deep fried banana dripping with honey and a thick coating of whatever, this dish had pieces of diced banana each wrapped in a thin dough and then fried lightly enough to get the dough crisp and the banana warm. It was excellent. The decor is light, airy and inviting and the service great. We've been to very many Thai restaurants and this is our favorite.

This is a quality Thai restaurant. Don't believe the haters. We stopped there on 2/17/12 for dinner and again on 2/21/12 for lunch. Service is impeccable and the waiters are super-kid friendly and considerate. Dishes: Vegetable Pad Thai: perfectly good (GF); beef satay, yummy, not the ordidary teriakyi, but with a nice coconuty base; mango curry, nice and spicy; chicken noodle soup, very flavorful broth, and lots of chicked (gluten free by the way). Chili Basil chicken, nice spice, and the basil was fresh. The coconut milk soup, was underwhelming, but still ok. The sweet and sour chicken was a great kids dish. They are very allergy aware and were able to accommodate my son, who is gluten free, which gets this restaurant the 4th star.

The Thai Bamboo offers Americanized Thai food but does it consistently well. The staff is friendly and the interior design is comfortable and pleasing. They have some pretty good curry and great apps. I'm not a fan of any dish with chicken in it though. The chicken always seems to be over cooked or just tastes kind if weird. If their chicken was better I would give them 4 stars. Its unfortunate to have to avoid an entire protein like that.

I hate this place. I love Thai food and this place is one block from my apartment. I have probably ordered from here at least 5-10 times each time hoping my dish will be better. The stir frys are awful period. Watery sauce, no flavor, weird random veggies like squash and tomatoes. I ordered veggie delight last night thinking how can they possibly screw up fried tofu...i got 5 tiny pieces of mushy tofu and veggies that were clearly frozen for 12 bucks. Their pad thai is also terrible, usually also comes with tomatoes. Only edible if you smother it in peanut sauce. Curries are also watery and lack flavor. Appetizers arn't that bad, usually get something fried so its kinda hard to mess up. The only dish that is mediocre and slightly edible is their drunken noodle. Also charge you $2 for brown rice even if you are getting a stir fry. BOOOOOOOO i would give it 0/5 stars if that was possible

Are you following my same trip? Driving south on a tour of Vermont? Just before entering Massachusetts we reach the charming city of Brattleboro and in an excellent downtown location find the Thai Bamboo. Lot's of people on a Sunday evening so we tried it and were quite pleased. I couldn't find a way to improve on our experience The waiter and waitress were attentive and friendly. We got the last seats at the last table. Ordered the "crispy Pad Thai" and "Thai fried rice". I also had my usual Tom Kha Gai soup for comparison purposes and found it a little on the watery side but compensated by the quantity making it a good value and the amount of mushrooms was appreciated. Seemed there were many repeat customers around us so this is a definite recommendation.

Any Brattleboro resident ought to appreciate Thai Bamboo for the sole reason that they recently began offering delivery. That's right, folks. For the first time maybe EVER you can have something other than greasy, greek pizza delivered to you in your home. That said, I wasn't really crazy about Thai Bamboo- or it's former incarnation Thai Garden. The switchover did bring some improvements- a more inventive and comprehensive menu for starters. But the curry is still too thin, they still overcook the chicken until it resembles a tire and they still charge you for rice when you order curry. Seriously? Their flavor balance needs some tweaking because while I love me some heat- I want more brought to the proverbial (and literal) table too. So here's the thing. If you're going to eat there, go for lunch. The lunch specials are a decent deal- and it IS a nice space. If you want their food in the evening- have them drive it to your house and enjoy it in your pajamas. Skip anything involving chicken. I'm a fan of the panang curry with tofu myself. Get two orders of rice, to help compensate for the thin-ness of the curry. Keep your phone handy after you phone-in, because the owner (who does the driving) will probably call you lost. It's best to use your cordless handset or your cell phone so you can go out in the driveway and wave him down after he passes your house. You'll find yourself totally won over by him (because he's the sweetest) and deciding that mediocre thai food is totally acceptable when it's brought to your door!
