Had the eggs blue crab and the firecracker omelette; both were delicious. Cranberry and peach mimosas were amazing. Server and hostess were very polite. Definitely recommend!

Wow! Really a bummer. I was so excited about this visit because of my previous experiences. Today was an eye- opener. From my table I could see.into the beverage room. I watched as waiters dipped glasses into an ice bin without gloves or an ice scoop anywhere in sight. They often picked up dirty dishes from tables and went directly to filling customers glasses with ice without a thought. Oh yeah, the ice bin is front of the soda machine so their sleeves hang over the ice bin that remains open while they dispense your soda. On the bright side, my food was good and the portions were large. I finished my meal before I started to look around and viewed the beverage fiasco. The manager was there when the waiters were sticking their hands in the ice so there was no need to tell her. Obviously, it is standard procedure!

The food an service are amazing here for breakfast. I prefer their breakfast to lunch. I can't get enough of their spicy cubed hash browns, eggs Benedict or two step breakfast. Downside, always a line 7 days a wk.

Great breakfast. Not so good for everything else. I've been here multiple times for breakfast, once for dinner. Every time we've gone for breakfast we've been very happy. They have a truly incredible selection, and everything we've had so far has been good. Real stone-ground, creamy grits. The Surry sausage is fantastic. Eggs benedict, yum! Skillets are great (according to my husband and daughter). My other daughter loves the infused pancakes because they actually put real fruit inside the pancake, and not a blob of pie filling on top like a lot of other places. Everything is very fresh. Service is usually good, although this can be hit or miss. The one time I went for dinner I got a very mediocre pasta dish. Won't be back for dinner - but definitely for breakfast.

Spanish omelet was cold and lacking Spanish flavor. Needed the veggies to be sautéed and maybe add some black beans and salsa. Hash brows were good and my husband enjoyed his skillet.

I've had their burgers in the past and found them to be hit or miss. But that doesn't matter anymore because my wife and I now only go to the Egg Bistro for one thing: Cinnamon French Toast. It's just that good! My one lament is that they don't serve breakfast all day long. Their service is good and I've never had to wait an inordinate amount of time for my food. Tips for newcomers: - You can usually find coupons on Restaurant.com . - If you're thinking of going on a Saturday or Sunday morning, beware of the crowds! You'll want to get there before 10 a.m.

Very Eclectic Menu with something for everyone. Booth area beside open kitchen is loud. Don't expect to see a lot on TV's in same area since they are small in size. Great Martini selection. Salad was super fresh. Menu is being replaced within the month. Super friendly staff.

The Egg Bistro is very kid friendly and the breakfast food is very good! I've never had lunch here. The food portions are big and I always bring leftovers home. Just last week, my mom and I went there for her birthday brunch. The biscuits and gravy were awesome! Not better than my moms, but pretty close! The waitress was kind and she even gave my mom a birthday dessert. The kitchen staff works in the center of the restaurant and out in the open for all to see. The kitchen staff were friendly and they even spoke to my little girl. They also asked if we enjoyed our meal. It was really nice to be able to tell the cooks myself "great job"!

Went there for Sunday breakfast great food great wait staff and manager yet the two hostess in the front should be fired twice. Note to those ladies your the face of the place in which you work and you set the tone for the restaurant.

Too long of a wait for simple egg dish! We have been waiting for our food more than 30 mins and still waiting!

Superb! I called ahead (a tip from other yelpers) and didn't have to wait. I ordered the french toasts and they were scrumptious! Instead of hashbrowns I has sunny side up eggs and bacon. The eggs were very good but a little cold, the bacon was a greasy but again, it's bacon My son had french toasts with fruit and he really enjoyed them. My husband had the steak and eggs and he raved about it. They serve huge portions, next time I'll order french toasts for myself and share them with my toddlers. They also have fantastic service, our waitress was very nice and even funny at times. We just moved in the area and will definitely become regulars!

When I go to places like the broken egg bistro, it is good to ask questions about the food selection. Since there menu is several pages long, I thought I'd cut down my search based on the crowd favorite. My server mentioned that the French toast was the top seller. The pics I saw on yelp and the plates going back and and forth in front of my face seem to confirm that statement. But one item in particular jumped off the page. They had a Monte Cristo on the menu. Now the Monte Cristo I'm used too is the one they served at Bennigans. That joint was made with ham and cheese then it was battered and deep fried. Plus it came with a side of raspberry jam. I got that 80% of the time. So after looking at the bistro's Monte Cristo I had questions. First of all, their sandwich is prepared using the highly recommended French toast, ham, bacon and provolone cheese. My question to the server was whether or not it was fried and do they have raspberry jam. The answer to both questions was, no. So now I'm torn. I had my mouth all ready for the old school Monte Cristo, and the bistro is trying to slide an imposter in on me. So I decide to take the plunge on the French toast bread Monte Cristo. First of all, I didn't need the side order of eggs. The sandwich was about 3 inches high and came with a mini side of hot maple syrup. I cut a piece with my fork and dipped it into the hot syrup and took a bite. There was a sweet and savory clash that took place on that fork. The tender ham along with the bacon, melted cheese and cinnamon swirled French toast and syrup made for one of the tastiest combos I've ever had. The French toast was cooked perfectly. The flavor was through the roof. I'd be hard pressed to try something else at the bistro after having their Monte Cristo. It was definitely worth the 20 minute wait to be seated.

This could go either way, and thus the three... Saturday night, and I'm out with my date, my bride, and we decide to grab a bite to eat before the movie. The hostess was on the phone when we walked through the door. A minute and a half later and we were still standing in front of the counter and the hostess had yet to even acknowledge our presence. Once we were seated, it took a little time for the waitress to take our order and it took near forever for our food to arrive. Perhaps some of the "off" can be attributed to the heat. The place was hot. Sure, it was hot outside (it was "that" weekend), but turns out the air conditioning at The Broken Egg was out... and has been for three weeks. I certainly wouldn't be at my best. And what did we order: a Ceaser salad with grilled chicken and a serving of vanilla bean ice cream with fresh strawberries slices. And, while the service staff might have been off, I do have to say that the food was super. The ice cream was sweet with a strong vanilla taste and the strawberries a perfect balance of sweet and tart. The grilled chicken in the salad was moist and flavorful. So, while the service might not have been at the best, the food might have been.

We love this place (Suffolk location) we sometimes end up there twice a week. The breakfast is amazing but sometimes the wait can be long. Great atmosphere and enormous portions of the best breakfast food ever! A great mimosa.

A lot of people like it, so I suppose I can't argue with them. I don't like it. Let me start by saying I've never had breakfast, only lunch here. The few times we've been, it's just been nothing special. Last time, they were out of what I ordered, and they brought me something else instead without asking. Hello, you come to the table and say, I'm sorry sir, we're out of X, would you like to order something else instead". What they brought was a beef bourgignon "soup" or "stew" or something. It was basically a nasty, congealed mess of gelatinous goo. I mean, it was so gross I can't even believe they would bring it out to the table. In fact, had I ordered it, I would have been "what is this". I mean, it was one of the nastiest things I've ever seen, let alone had "suggested" to me instead of the way better-sounding food I did order. I can't remember what I ended up ordering. In fact, I can't remember anything any of us had because it was so unmemorable. My youngest did order some chili-cheese fries (he's like that). Two problems: first, they were waffle fries. Not what one usually expects. Interesting, and in my opinion, works for chili because of all the nooks and crannies, but, not what he wanted. Second, he didn't like the chili because it was not what he expected either (he's used to the "chili" they put on hot-dogs and nachos). So while it wasn't their fault their chili cheese fries didn't meet his expectations, I think the chili was worthwhile: it was chunky, full of peppers, onions, red beans, meat, and tomatoes. I would think this would make a pretty hearty meal as a bowl of chili, if not the best chili one has ever had, at least an acceptable ordering option here. I guess ordinary people like ordinary restaurants, and there's a niche for that, and Broken Egg (now apparently just "The Egg") is one of the many ordinary restaurants that fill that niche. Not trying to sound like I'm better than "ordinary" but I'm always looking for something that's better than I can make at home, unusual, and at the prices it costs to eat out nowadays, something that is "extra-ordinary". Nothing wrong with good, solid food, at a reasonable price, but I don't think The Broken Egg Bistro is it (by the way, they should take Bistro out of the name - trying to give the illusion that it's fancy or upscale, when it's just pricey, is not cool IMHO). It's just basically ordinary. Nothing special. Same with the service - hit or miss, nothing special. If you're cool with that, you might like it. I'd rather spend my money elsewhere, where the food is better (or, more to my liking I suppose).

Best Breakfast in Hampton Roads, hands down. They offer a wide selection of delicious omelets & if you're a fan of french toast, theirs sets the bar. They also have their own brew of coffee, which is really good. I've only had breakfast here, but it's been a few dozen times and it's always good. The wait on the weekend can be pretty long... (30-45 min) I always try to get there before 9am. They have a location in Chesapeake also (near the corner of Kempsville and Greenbriar Parkway) .

I don't eat here often but do enjoy it when I have gone for various meals. Always pleased with my service at various times as well. Breakfast seems a little slower or I am just in a hurry those days. Today was dinner and drinks. We sat at the bar. There were still a couple seats left and only 1 or 2 tables available on a Friday at 6:30. I choose a burger to go with my sophisticated strawberry shortcake and key lime Martini's. Happy hour 3-7 Fridays! My burger was delicious and moist arriving to me on a pretzel bun served with a preferred side of fries! Husband was satisfied with his meatloaf and mashed potatoes. We declined dessert but it was hard to deny a homemade cheesecake.

My husband and I had a day off together during the week and went here for brunch. We had mimosas and breakfast food. The mimosas were good - nothing fantastic. I had the BLT with a fried egg. It was great. My husband's gut was busting after his biscuits and gravy... And grits.... And bacon.... ;-) The waitress seemed to be in a bad mood. That was a bit of a buzzkill. :-/

I enjoyed every bit of my experience with The Egg Bistro. We were seated right away, the waitress was upbeat, knowledgable, and patient. We weren't out for anything too heavy to fill our stomachs so we concentrated on the appetizer menu. Our order was brought to us within a decent time frame, and we loved every bite of it. We loved it so much we order two more different appetizers. The drink menu gave me many different choices WHICH I LOVE! So It took me a few minutes to narrow down what I wanted. The drinks were also great! After my experience last night I'm sure I will be a regular at this establishment.

I've eaten here many times and had great food and service. Tonight has been exceptionally horrible. The food took 30 minutes for appetizers and about an hour for food that was wrong. The manager came to the table 3 times trying to justify an 8% discuss for multiple mistakes. Unacceptable

I am not a big breakfast restaurant person; I'm usually starving when I wake up, and it takes too long to get somewhere to eat. That's why I hadn't tried The Egg Bistro (TEB) until recently. My first visit was for lunch, but I knew I needed to try their breakfast before I could write a proper review. They can be quite busy, which is also why I hadn't been there earlier. Last Friday, with my partner in crime (a.k.a. my middle son), we decided to explore their breakfast menu. TEB is located at a strip mall next to the Regal Cinema. It is fairly spacious inside, but when it's full, the noise can be deafening. On my first trip, I was alone and they sat me at the bar. It was quiet, but I wanted to experience their regular table service. That morning for breakfast, I was wishing we were sitting at the bar--so loud in the dining room! I found the service was good both times, so let's look at the food: Visit 1: I ordered the Butts Station (smoked pulled pork Carolina style BBQ with coleslaw and garlic fries--$8.29 and 99¢ extra for garlic fries). The sandwich was delicious--the meat was smoky and moist. However, the coleslaw was bland, and the garlic fries were just okay. I wouldn't order them again. Visit 2: My son ordered their infamous French Toast with turkey sausage and hash browns ($8.49), and I got the Eggs Blue Crab (Crab cakes, English muffins and hollandaise sauce with hash browns for $11.99). I tried a bite of his French Toast and thought it was average; my son thought it was fantastic. My eggs benedict was a different story. When it came out (by the way--they were very busy, but the food came out extremely fast), it looked like a hot mess on a plate. I thought, "These are supposed to be crab cakes? It looked like they chopped them up and put it on an English muffin." The English muffins were barely toasted and the eggs were undercooked--when you take the very runny yolks with the watery hollandaise sauce, it looked like--well...snot. Maybe the food was off that day and someone was rushing, but I would steer away from the eggs benedict. One more thing to mention about the sides: you get your choice of hash browns and grits. When you pick hash browns, you get the choice of "shredded" or "cubed." The shredded hash browns needed some seasoning, big time. The cubed hash browns were fried; they were tasty and seasoned, but not what I would call hash browns. I don't really get why they're so busy, but maybe that's because we don't have many breakfast restaurants in Suffolk. I'm not a fan of crowds and having to wait for average food (heck--I don't like having to wait for amazing food!); I would definitely stay away during the weekend. I would go back for lunch and sit at the bar, but otherwise, I would probably skip it.

I went here for dinner. The food presentation was great. They give you a lot of food for your money. The menu had a variety of selections. I'm definitely dining here again.

My family and I decided to have lunch here prior to our movie next door. The wait time was very short and the wait staff attentive. The lunch food was delicious and delivered in a decent amount of time. Our waitress was spot on with refills and requests due to kids. I will definitely return again!

Went back here for dinner as some of the latest reviews have been getting better. Honestly, we're glad we did. One of the only things that my wife can get here is the lasagna. Although it is also one of her favorite foods when cooked properly. When we first arrived there was no wait and we were promptly sat down. Upon sitting down we were greeted and given the Wednesday (burger night) specials. The waitress was exceptionally friendly to us and very helpful to whatever we needed. I will admit, this is something that hasn't changed from what we generally expect from this facility. The servers have always (for us) been top notch. When we placed our order (I asked the waitress to surprise me - anything on the chicken page). It took about 10-15 minutes before we were told that someone failed to prep the lasagna and that it is not available. We contemplated on what she could order as a substitute but my wife was craving tomatoes and we politely said that we would like to just pay our bill (bought a beer) and we would go elsewhere. Our waitress told us to hold on a second and that she would see what the managers could do. Shortly after the managers approached us and said that they would prep one up quickly for us and offered us an appetizer if we stayed. Since we were in no rush we accepted their offer. Promptly after this we received a spinach artichoke dip and within a very respectable time, the main courses. I have to admit, the food was fantastic. I was honestly shocked as I thought maybe I was going to end up with the same old "meh" food. Because of this, I honestly can't wait to go back on prime rib night or something like that. I "hope" the food quality stays up to par! The only issue I do have with the facility is that when it's busy, it can get exceptionally loud because of the lack of sound deadening inside. Any padding or hanging sound deadening would help this facility drastically. As of this moment, I would definitely say come and visit! Food taste - 4 Overall Service - 5 Value of food to cost - 4 Facility - 3 Repeat customer? - yes

Tried this place for the first time yesterday. Atmosphere is cute, I was surprised by how large the place is and how crowded it gets! We ordered mimosas which were average. My friend asked to try a sample of the soup du jour before ordering an entire bowl for lunch and the waitress seemed very annoyed. We tried two of the sandwiches; the cheesesteak and the gaucho (turkey bacon with sriracha mayo) and they were both pretty good! Garlic fries which are suggested on the menu are good! Only thing that was a bit disappointing was the service from our waitress but most of the other staff seemed friendly!

While staying in the area I used Yelp to find a local place to eat, and The Egg Bistro was about 1 mile away. Busy dinner crowd when we arrived, but we were immediately seated. The printed dinner menu had nice graphics and design, but I would have preferred something a little simpler to read - and a little larger print for the prices. Mom ordered the crab cake sandwich, served with fries. I liked how the sandwich was served with available toppings and tartar sauce served on the side, so Mom was able to determine how much and which items to put on it. I ordered the meat loaf. Ample serving portion, served with mashed potatoes and gravy. Enjoyed the flavor, and their take on meat loaf. Server was pleasant, and hustled between all of her tables. She was slow on refilling our beverages. Mom was completely out of coffee and she acknowledged it but still took more time to refill her cup. She later explained she was waiting on a freshly brewed pot. She was also slow with my sweet tea.

Like all the other reviews I've read the service here is terrible. When I walked in at 1pm there were 2 tables seated with food. The waitress looked at me confused, they close at 2:30 but i was on a lunch break and not staying long. Once seated it took 15 minutes just to get a waitress and another 30 to get my food of a sandwich and fries. The roast beef was great but the bread was toasted too hard that crumbs fell everywhere on each bite. I was seated in the bar area and could see my waitress at all times and she moved like she didnt want to be there. I waited to get my check as she closed the register down another 10 minute wait. Overall i probably wont come back here. To be a slow day and have slow service is just unacceptable in my opinion and something this place needs to look into.

Since I have switched to working overnights I've been here at least ten times over the last month to eat breakfast. I gave the French toast another shot and they came out great. The service I received from the bartender was excellent. She does a fabulous job. Keep up the good work guys and I'll keep coming back thank you

Good food. When we arrived, there was a 20 minute wait, but we were seated quickly. I ordered the Monte Cristo with a side of grits...the French toast was really good and the bacon, ham and cheese inside just made it even better. The grits were a great consistency. Service was ok. Would love to go back and try other dishes.

went in to the bistro today around 1:30. we had a bit of a wait but only around 10 minutes. I ordered the French toast, poached eggs, and a Bloody Mary. our server was super friendly, young girl with really short hair. I don't remember her name. Kara, maybe. Anyway, the Bloody Mary was phenomenal, best one in a while. I would have ordered 2 but I didn't wanna be that person...at least not on a Sunday, at lunch. My husband ordered a giant meat omelet with bacon and hash browns. The food didn't take too long at all and it all came out perfect. It looked and tasted delicious! my eggs were poached beautifully and that French toast was amaaaayzing. I truly enjoyed today's experience and do not have one single complaint...and that's unusual. haha, no really, it's really rare. Good jarb, EB!! xoxo

I've been to The Egg Bistro twice since moving to North Suffolk and I have to say that I'm in love. I have yet to try their lunch or dinner menu, but the breakfast has been great both times. Last time we went, I ordered a waffle with two pork link sausages, scrambled eggs with cheddar and a peach mimosa. My husband had the chocolate chip pancakes (huge) with eggs and bacon and a strawberry mimosa, all very delicious. I'm not usually a mimosa fan, but The Egg Bistro has made me into one. Definitely my go-to breakfast place in the area.

If I could give zero stars, I would. We came here on a Sunday morning around 9. The place was crowded but there wasn't a wait. The food was just bad. Service was below average in my book. We ordered the skillet which consists of eggs, choice of bacon or sausage and vegetables. My eggs were over cooked. They also tasted like the "eggs" you get from a carton--not fresh eggs at all and NO flavor. The vegetables...the few they had were red bell pepper, green bell pepper and 4 small potatoes. The bell peppers were not fresh...in fact I truly think they were part of the "egg" carton mixture (I don't know this as fact however in my opinion this is what they tasted like.) I ordered mine with a choice of bacon...which wasn't cooked into the skillet. I'm sorry but whenever I have had a skillet the meat was ALWAYS cooked into the skillet and not offered as a side item. My husband's was the same except his eggs weren't cooked all the way through. We also ordered a side of grits which were the chunky kind. I particularly don't care for this variety but I won't hit them on that. Orange juice was ok, but beware that there are no free refills and you will have to keep paying for each additional glass. The service could have been better. She took our orders, brought us our orders, and finally our check. Not personable service at all, nor did she check to see if we liked the meal. Once again, if I pay over $30 for breakfast for two people I expect more than what I just got taste wise and quality wise. I was curious about their lunch menu but not anymore! I was highly disappointed with this meal and I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone and will not return.

I ordered the Shrimp and Grits ..it's ok! The drinks were very weak....not worth the price they charge/maybe it was the bartender .. " THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR DRINKS OR WINE" The waitress was speaking to us as if we were the only ones in the restaurant. .UGGGGGG IN MY CHARLIE BROWN VOICE ....WTF!!!

The Egg Bistro is very good! I love brunch/breakfast! My friend from around the area that I was with suggested this for brunch before we came back to Fredericksburg after a bachelorette party that weekend. I must say I was not disappointed. I had an omelette, grits, hash browns, sausage, and French toast. One word : Yum !

On July 9th I took my son here for one of their Wine Tastings on the Patio. It was fantastic! As always, yhe food was great. We had the Loaded Nachos with their homemade chili. My son, 16, loved them. The wine tasting event I partook in was wonderful. It was $10 for unlimited tastings from Dreaming Tree wines & Blenheim Vineyards, and included a special edition wine glass. The wines were very tasty. My favorite was the Dreaming Tree Everyday white blend. Delish! Bryan Dunn performed for hours & was fantastic! Our service from the bartenders & our waitress was superb. I used to go to the wine tastings all the time. I plan on going back to all of them again!

Maybe I was here on an off day (though having your off day during Sunday brunch is kind of suspicious), but I found this place seriously disappointing. The decor is nice if a bit unusual (there's a shelf with hot sauce on it...like, regular, Texas Pete hot sauce) but overall the environment isn't bad. And my waffle was pretty good, if a bit stingy on the strawberries. Unfortunately, that's where the "good" ends. Our waitress was unfriendly and unattentive, at one point we asked if we could see a drink menu (someone mentioned unconventional mimosa flavors) and she acted like we were inconveniencing her by wanting to see a menu and place an order and responded with something to the effect of, "we have normal flavors, like mango and stuff." Uh, okay, don't know when mango became a "normal" flavor for mimosa, but whatever. I noticed that, overall, the waitstaff looked unkempt. I get that it's a brunch bistro and yoga pants are acceptable in public now, but flip flops in a kitchen is 1. an OSHA violation and 2. a health code violation/utterly disgusting. I don't think it's too much to ask your staff to have clean, not workout clothing on, closed-toed shoes, and tidy hair in a restaurant. Our waitress actually looked professional but unfortunately didn't act it so maybe you get one or the other. I also ordered an Eggs Benedict and it came cooked though. Not even a little runny, just totally solid (still bright so not totally hard boiled, but 100% solid). The "crab cake," if it could be called that was super thin, mostly bread, and overcooked/chewy. Had we not already waited a ridiculously long time for breakfast food I'd have sent it back. (To quote Archer, "how hard it is to poach a G-D egg?!") The table next to us had an issue with their order (I think the gentleman ordered corned beef hash, it came out looking like a flat cake of cat food) and sent it back. A woman who I am pretty certain was the manager looked at the order, looked at the guy, and ignored it/left the waitress to deal with it without so much as acknowledging the customer's issue or asking what could be done to help/if he wanted to order something else. I guess that explains the waitstaff's behavior? It's better than eating nothing at all but it's not somewhere I'll be going back to. You can get equal or better food elsewhere (cheaper) without dealing with gross and/or rude staff.

This place is pretty good. Used to be my favorite place for breakfast but they are no longer consistent. Sometimes they are fast and efficient, sometimes you have to wait F O R E V E R. I won't wait in line to get in like i used to. Other places with no wait have just as good food.

Went to the Broken Egg/Egg Bistro on Sunday for brunch. This place is a total mad house on the weekends, but totally worth the wait! We sat down and were almost instantaneously greeted by our server and after ordering, the food showed up pretty quickly. I ordered the Harvest #1 with country ham, eggs, grits, and toast. 'Twas simply delish aside from the country ham, which was super tough and flavorless. My eating partner ordered the Eggs Benedict with crab cakes which was TDF. Will definitely continue to visit this spot, I'll just sub the country ham for corned beef hash.

Went to the Broken Egg around 930. Ordered Bloody Mary's and Mimosa's. THEY ARE HALF OFF EVERY MORNING BEFORE 9!!!!!!!!! I was mad we didn't get there sooner. My Bloody Mary was spicyyyyyyyyyy way too spicy for me. I had a hard time drinking it, but I managed to get it down inbetweenst bites of my country fried steak smothered in white sausage gravy, shredded potatoes and eggs scrambled with colby jack cheese. My meal was GOOD. It arrived at the table with smoke coming from it, just the way I like it. I am a fan of anything smothered in gravy and this country fried steak was ON POINT. My mom got the waffle it was as big as the entire plate and the butter was slipping and sliding around that thing and the syrup was just a swimming. She got the sausage links - not your everyday Hormel brown and serve links, but country links (think half the size of the length of a Johnsonville bratwurst) they were awesome, I actually inquired with the manager about buying a case (I take my pork seriously) All in all, I enjoyed my food as I usually do here. Service was outstanding.

Got there before 8 am and go figure there was a crowd on Father's Day so by the time we got to the table the cost of our meals went up a few bucks because we missed the early bird special even when mentioned to the waitstaff. Coffee was stout, similar to 1988 3 am Navy Quarterdeck and not worth the free refill at $2.99. Strawberry infused pancakes meant that when cooking they were going to pour Strawberry compote into the middle of the batter. Luckily we dodged the tables that had the condensation showers from the AC units. Scheduler may had decided to bring everyone in a bit earlier considering the holiday because watching them amble after 8 to slowly dry off the outside tables was not entertaining. No Father's Day specials. Ad says 75 years of combined restaurant experience so the experience leaves me unsatisfied. I am a local and will support other small business in the community.

Very nice and clean place, the waitress really friendly and fast. The Spanish omelette was really good and big meal that we had to share. I ordered oatmeal (cup) and cup of fruit. It was very fulling.

I decided to give this place a second chance after the owner contacted me. All of the reviews that raved about this place were from breakfast, so we decided to give breakfast a try. I had The Portabella. It was really good (I'm a mushroom fan), but the hollandaise sauce was not blended correctly and it "broke". I was really surprised that they still served it. It took a minute for me to realize it was hollandaise, it looked like some kind of melted cheese mixture. My husband had the french toast which was presented beautifully and tasted good. The home fries were really good too. The food came quickly, but we weren't served our coffe until our meal was over. I wish I had a better review for this place. It feels like maybe who ever is responsible for quality control in the kitchen needs some additional help. The first time we went here, the issues with our food would have been seen and stopped with good quality control. Same for yesterday. I really want to like this place, but we won't be going back.

All four times I've been here, the wait has been insane. But as annoying as it is to wait in line when all you can smell is delicious french toast and bacon, it's a testament to the Broken Egg Bistro -- they're doing something right. The french toast is my favorite -- HUGE and fluffy, swirled with cinnamon and has a hint of apple. And the biscuits are to die for. Buttery, drool-worthy biscuits from the heavens, they are. They've got a lot of options on the menu, including platters and mix-and-match type things. You can't lose!

This was my first time at this location for dinner. I have eated at the other Broken Egg in the Greenbrier area of Chesapeake several times. Saturday night was prime rib night and for $10.99 you get a really nice size meat portion plus mashed potatoes and a salad. My star deduction was because no bread was offered. Some may not mind that but I want my bread with every meal. We must have arrived at the right time because we did not have to wait like some other reviewers and it was fairly busy.

Awesome food, horrible service! Took 25 minutes to get drinks after being seated and 45 minutes for food. Waitress was rude.

Ate here recently while visiting my Mom and brother in Hampton Roads. We all ate breakfast and were amazed by the generous portions, perfectly cooked eggs and prompt, pleasant service. I only wish I could've come back for their lunch menu. Even though there was a wait when we arrived, our hostess found us a table in their sunny dining area near the bar. Wish we had a similar place back in Durham.

Good for lunch. Beers on tap are very good. Food is average. First time I went here burger was not that good. Went and had a club sandwich today...... was a little better. Service is good here........

Chicken limone description was mouth watering. Reality was a pile of flavorless angelhair pasta sitting in water with a fried chicken breast on top. Zero sauce. Zero lemon on either except for the 2 small lemon wedges lying on the plate. No bread. No veggies. And took 50minutes to arrive. Go elsewhere.

For early risers they have a really inexpensive short menu. I came too late for that but was able to order a la carte exactly what I wanted - 1/2 order of French Toast (because it was so favorably mentioned in reviews, 2 eggs scrambled and crisp bacon. Coffee was good. French Toast was very good - crispy outside, soft and tasty inside. Eggs were cooked as I like, and bacon was crisp. Service was very friendly and quick (at 9 AM on a Tuesday, restaurant about half full). I will probably come back tomorrow - it's a better breakfast and cheaper than the buffet at my hotel. I noticed another person had an omelet and it was probably large enough for two of me or a big eater.

My parents love this place. I think it's just ok. Our server started out great, but forgot to put our appetizer in, so we never got it. When she came to the table to tell us that she had forgotten, she told us that my mom's food was ready. Well, we weren't served for about 15 minutes after that conversation. That being said, my mom's dish was the best of the bunch. I had the mahi with garlic mashed potatoes, and the potatoes were so salty I could barely eat them. My husband had the salad with tomato and mozzarella, and I thought the mozzarella was not good at all. The spinach lasagna was terrific, and my dad loved his pork chop. Overall it's just so-so and not really worth it, in my opinion.

Service was pretty slow. We went on a Monday morning after 10am. Server and hostess were very nice. Food was decent. We had a party of 3 adults and 2 children. Our bill with tip was about $55.

After reading the reviews posted, I thought I would write one as well. I have to say that I'm surprised at the low ratings I'm seeing. We've eaten here several times and have always received excellent service even during busy nights. They have a great menu and some great specials on the few nights they serve dinner. They are open for breakfast and brunch daily, but only serve dinner Wed thru Sun. The decor is nice, but the acoustics are bad, so it can be hard to hold a conversation. Overall, I have had great experiences here. The staff is always friendly, the food has always been great. They have some great appetizers, like Pot Stickers, Tuna Tartare and Asian Ribs (my favorite!). I love this place, but I usually eat dinner, not breakfast.

I never understood the craze for this place. I've had a few mediocre meals here, but on Sunday, had the worst. Omelette was OK, but very bland. Grits were runny and not cooked, and bread was not toasted;. When the waitress asked if everything was OK, I said no; and she walked away. We will not be going back.

Mediocre service but amazing food with large portions! The seating was interesting in the dining room and it was slightly uncomfortable sitting that close to the next person on a shared bench. Will definitely be back for breakfast soon! DELICIOUS.

Really gone downhill. Went for breakfast this morning. Eggs were WAY underdone. Ordered them fried, done medium and they were barely cooked at all. Even had the translucent color in the egg white. Hash browns were a mushy mess. More the consistency of mashed potatoes. Been here a few times before, expected much better than we got. It may be a long time before we return.

I've eaten at Broken Egg Bistro about 5 times and I will say that my experience has gone from good to worse. On previous occasions the service was to blame but on this particular day it was a combination of the two. This morning we decided to have an impromptu team meeting there. When we arrived, we were immediately seated in tight quarters next to another couple. Now I am not sure why they did it but every single couple or family that came in were directed to the seat directly next to us. This would not be a problem normally if the place was packed but it was fairly empty and the middle of the restaurant was open. The seats are almost stacked on each other and every one of them requested a change to their seat. Now normally I can look past service if the food is great. I ordered the Harvest 1. I chose bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns and pancakes. First let me say that normally I love breakfast but this particular breakfast left me something to be desired. The eggs were runny, soft and didn't sit well with me. The hash browns were mushy and lacked the crunch I am used to (one visit, I cut the top of my mouth due to them being the way I like them - crunchy). I poured ketchup on them to try and make them better. It helped just a little bit. The best part of the meal was the bacon. The worst part was the pancakes. They were not good at all. They tasted like paper and I was given just a cup of syrup for two huge pancakes. I have had it with this place. Each time I go something goes wrong and I have yet to have a perfect meal/service combination with them. I would have given a 1 star but the price was under $10.

I was very excited to try this place. My daughter has dance/gymnastics class until 11:30am on Saturday mornings so it was important for my family to find somewhere that served breakfast later than normal. I ordered the 2E breakfast I believe it was called. It was supposed to be 2 eggs, hashbrowns or grits, toast or biscuit and 2 bacon wrapped pieces of grilled asparagus with hollandaise sauce. My bacon was RAW so it was completely inedible. The hollandaise sauce wasn't cooked correctly, they broke the egg mixture. My hashbrowns by far were the worst. Not only were the dark brown and crispy they were stale. My English muffin that I asked for not only wasn't even buttered, it was stale as well. My fiancé ordered the egg scramble which he enjoyed. My son ordered the grilled cheese which he enjoyed even though the cheese wasn't melted. I ordered my daughter mac and cheese with waffle fries and instead she got mac and cheese with fruit. My fiancé also got a chicken salad sandwich to go which he took one bite of and put down. The bread was soggy and the salad was bland. Overall I wish the Egg Bistro could deliver it's promised menu. The menu looks amazing but the food isn't up to par. The carpet also needs to be cleaned properly. I was sitting in the bench/chair combo and the carpet smelled moldy and gross. Not sure if I will go back. Highly disappointed.

I went to the BE on one of their Wednesday Burger Nights...also happened to be one of their wine tasting nights...went with a group of 12, but had 5 older teens with us so they sat at a table by themselves. Service was great, and be sure to ask for Amanda as your server!!! Not only was this young lady incredibly good at waiting on multiple tables, she does an incredible job of being personable and picking up on the small nuances of what a customer wants....a rarity in customer service these days! The food was lovely and came out in a timely fashion...this isn't a fast food joint, so one shouldn't expect their food in 5 mins or less here. Let them do their jobs...they are quite good at it. Our only complaint was that being all the way over in the restaurant area did not lend itself to enjoying the wine tasting program. Next time we will have to leave the boys at home and sit farther in the back. Lovely, enjoyable evening!

Had the crab cake sandwich for lunch. Delicious and the home made tartar sauce was really good. My buddy had the One Love Panini, he said it was fantastic. I love this place. I took my wife and daughter the next night, a Saturday at about 7, and we sat outside promptly. We both had the prime rib special. I ordered medium rare and my wife ordered medium. Both were overcooked. We never mentioned it to the waitress but she noticed and said something. Next thing we knew the manager was at our table and comped one of our dinners. We weren't expecting that but it was very nice. I will definitely return.

This is your basic chain breakfast restaurant. They opened at 7:00, we were one of the first people there at 7:15, and by 7:45, they were jam-packed. The menu is overwhelmingly extensive, so if you can't find something to eat, you're doing it wrong. Before 8:00 a.m., they have a few options on the cheaper menu, so we went with that. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon for me, and sausage, over-medium eggs, cubed potatoes, and a biscuit for the fella. It was cheap ($4-$5 for each) and solid - nothing spectacular but nothing awful. Our waitress was a machine! I guess with that many people to wait on, you've gotta have your spiel perfected and your routine down.

Stumbled upon this place after a round of golf at The Riverfront on Wednesday and must say i was pleasantly surprised. It happened to be burger night, which is my favorite. I had the broken egg burger which was one of the best I've had....ever. Our waitress was top notch and very interactive and friendly. Decided to stop in again today with the kids for breakfast, and again no complaints, even from the kids. Food was great as for the service. A new favorite for the family and I.

This place has great food for all meals. Love the cubed hash browns for breakfast!! Dinner is a wide array of tasty choices. My only complaint, if your sitting in the bar area for any meal, service will be sub par. Consistently poor service in the bar area. If your in the dinning area, great fun service.

The food here is excellent! I have never had a bad meal. Good atmosphere and good service. My boyfriend and I came here yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. The Bloody Marys were delicious and on point. I highly recommend the BLT breakfast sandwich with hash browns.

Tried it out again and so glad we did... We had an absolutely amazing server, Ellisse. She was so attentive and nice. She gave us honest opinions, always made sure our drinks were full and had napkins, and gave great recommendations. She made our lunch 5 stars:) The food was wonderful. The menu had a diverse and vast selection. Our food was delicious, especially the roasted red pepper and gouda soup! The atmosphere outside and the number of tables was perfect. We loved the patio! We will definitely return and ask for Ellisse:)

We always enjoy the food, but there seems to be a disconnect with the service. However, today Jo Anne was an amazing server. She was always there when we needed her. Breakfast is normally fresh, tasty and made to order... However, today my eggs were both warm and cold and looks like they were prepared on a dirty grill. We used to end up waiting a long time as our food sat under the heat lamps. Today, it looks like someone is assigned to hand out food while hot. Good job Manager. We enjoy the bistro/breakfast environment.

The Egg Bistro is always packed but I can't see what all the hype is about. They have a very intense dinner menu with nice descriptions and photos. Still, I don't think the food is so great. The calamari is too spicy, as if it had been doused in Old Bay seasoning. I think the potstickers are good, but I've never had a bad one anywhere. The Chicken Parmesan is the worst. They give you a really large portion of chicken. Overcooked and bland, though. Even the marinara was flavorless. I enjoy the Bananas Foster. The bread pudding is chunky and dry. I actually prefer the breakfast, since that's the type of place I thought they were popular for. The french toast is the best. Without a reservation, you'll probably wait over 45 minutes. Not just because they're busy; but the hostesses (always two girls) can't maintain the wait list properly. Ever. Even with pagers.

Yum! Best Eggs Benny I've ever had, super cute garden area that has funky decor and enough shade so that you're not roasting. Great bloody marys but the oysters were not that fresh tasting. We waited about 15 min for a table for 2 at the bar and then got a great seat outside. I love this restaurant

The food is quite good. One visit I had their BLT, it was good. You cant really do much for a BLT. Our little one had the "Kids" pancakes and fruit. The pancake was bigger than my head, and it was covered in whip cream. I had a bite and it was delicious. The side of fruit that came with the pancake was a huge helping. On another visit I had the bacon burger with the fried egg on top ( I cant recall what it is called). It was so good, I had it with fries so therefore I ended up taking most of the burger home because it was so big. The staff is very friendly, but its not the type of place to really have a quiet conversation. Its very open and loud. You have to almost yell to be able to talk to people at your table. Other than that the place was great. I intend on trying their hash browns next time. My husband says their the best hes had.

I hadn't been here in a few years, but seemed like the best brunch option when visiting with my parents yesterday. I was scared that the wait was going to mimic that of "Citrus", but luckily we were sat in about 15 minutes. FYI, it says they take reservations on here, but that's only for dinner. The menu is extensive & it took all four of us some time to decide what to order. I was super disappointed that their mimosa & bloody mary specials ended at 9am...um what?? Who is up getting buzzed between 6am-9am?...I'm not judging, but there was no prices listed at all for those so I skipped out on possibly having a $9 mimosa. I ordered the 2E's two step, which came with their bacon wrapped asparagus in holandaise, two eggs, a biscuit, & some home fries. It was pretty decent. My boyfriend ordered a southwestern omelet was that huge & he enjoyed it. My mom had chipped beef, but it looked like she had more toast than sauce & my pops ordered biscuits & gravy. He's usually a food complainer, but seemed to enjoy his brunch as well. All in all, it was just alright. Nothing memorable, but I doubt I'll be craving it.

I went back for the first time in about three years this past Sunday. There was a thirty minute wait, which is to be expected on most Sundays after church gets out. What I didn't expect was the hour long wait for our food. The waitress was good, friendly, & made sure out drinks stayed full during this hour without food involving two hungry adults and two hangry kids. The food was fine. I had the southwestern omelette. My husband had some spicy omelette. He couldn't even remember what he had ordered by the time it arrived. If your kitchen can't handle a full seating, maybe don't seat so many people. It was really disappointing. We didn't plan on spending 2+ hours at lunch. Again, the waitresses great & the quality of the food fine. Neither makes up for the ridiculously slow kitchen. It will probably be another 3 years before I return.

I have gone to The Egg Bistro several times and to be honest it is nothing to write home to mom about. I've met business associates here as well as family/friends and they just always fall short in my opinion. This morning my husband and I stopped in to give them on last try (I really really wantef to love this place as much as everyone else). Our waitress Kimberly was completely clueless. I ordered a water and a virgin Mimosa as I am 7 months pregnant and cannot have alcohol. When my water came out it was pink. When she returnef to take our food order I asked for a new water, and she said she probably just a little fruit punch in it and a virgin Mimosa is just orange juice ( le sigh, palm to my fast). I ordered the Harvest 1 with egg, hashbrowns, bacon and pancakes. And my husband had corned beef hash and eggs. All of my food was lukewarm and my husbands was hot. The has was canned and it wad just a blah experience on a whole. Our darling waitress Kimberly only returned when we flagged her down for our receipt. All and all not a pleasant experience. I will not be returning

Went here for dinner one night and sat at the bar for dinner. Bartender was quick to provide service and checked with me regularly despite me being by myself and not drinking. Had a fantastic cut of prime rib and was on my way. Very curious staff, very nice atmosphere and good food.

LOVE this place. Love the atmosphere, especially the outside patio at night. HUGE menu, HUGE drink menu. The food is great, every time I come here it is so busy, so that means sometimes the food takes a little bit longer, but don't let that discourage you. They operate with an open kitchen, so you can see the staff working very hard to deliver a fast and great product. I will ALWAYS be a regular here.

What they do, they do well. We went on Sunday morning at about 11 for brunch. There was about a 15 minute wait, but shortly after we got there that wait got much longer. We were seated and had a very friendly server. I can never decide between savory and sweet for breakfast - do I want eggs benedict of a waffle? Biscuits and gravy or pancakes? I agonize over these decisions. Here I had multiple opportunities to do both. I opted for the $7.99 combo for which gave me a choice of 3 sides and one meat. I ordered hashbrowns, pancakes and a biscuit with sausage gravy. All of it was super good, but I really liked the sausage gravy. They make it with real sausage links and not scrambled breakfast sausage. It had just enough pepper for flavor wasn't too flour-y. Seems like a great place for a big breakfast/brunch at a good price.

Reluctantly returned with a business group for a weekday breakfast and was happily surprised. Ordered the creamed chipped beef over rye toast along with scrambled eggs, grits, side of pancakes and real good link sausages, but unforunately the bread was not toasted. The discrepancy was quickly fixed and that's how I got to meet one of the owners since he brought the corrected plate. Maybe one more chance again.

This is an okay place for breakfast. I haven't been here for lunch or dinner so I can't speak to that. The eggs Benedict were average, especially for the price. I probably won't come back. There are too many other restaurants in the area to pay for over priced, average food.

  • Kevin S.

I drop in here on my own or with my wife for breakfast all the time when I'm working at home or just getting back from a quick trip. The different eggs Benedict really appeal to me; and I like the local flair like Surry sausage and VA beers. Should appeal to most folks with a variety of breakfasts and sandwiches (for the times I usually go there).

4th visit and much better. I ventured back to the Broken Egg with some coworkers for lunch. I ordered a sandwich, The Driver, with coleslaw. Its a roast beef sandwich on rosemary cheese bread with sprouts, tomatoes, red onions, bacon and mayo. The sandwich was awesome. .....the coleslaw however, was meh. I don't often have the pleasure of eating outstanding coleslaw. As a matter of fact, I don't recall the last time I had the pleasure. I know I might get flamed for this, but I like KFC and/or Chick Fil-a coleslaw a whole lot better. Coleslaw aside - I enjoyed this visit to Broken Egg. Service was good...and the fact that we didn't get corralled into a corner with every restaurant patron (see my previous review) made my experience fantabulous.

Last time I came on a Saturday at around 10:30 am and I left because there was such a long wait. So I decided to come during the week. There was no wait and the food came quick. I had the French toast because it's one of their signature plates, and it was delicious! The bread was thick but Very light and soft so the meal was not too heavy! I had it with turkey sausage and eggs scrambled with cheese. The kicker was that my bill was just $13 not bad considering it's not a chain like Waffle House of Cracker Barrel and the food was far better. I can't wait to visit a gain and try some of their other food.

Love the fact they give Military discount. We went for lunch. My burger was overcooked and so was the egg that was suppose to be on top of it which was disappointing because I wanted medium. But with 2 kids with us, time is limited so I didnt want to wait for them to recook it. Other than that my husband and toddler both loved their food. Server was friendly. They don't do free refills on lemonade.

Visited on a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. After a 15 minute wait we were seated. I order a Harvest #1 with pancakes, eggs w/ cheese, bacon, & hash browns. Waited about 15 minutes for food to arrive. The pancakes were huge. I could only eat one. The bacon was very hard. I could not eat both strips. Other than the bacon everything tasted wonderful. My only complaint was that it was extremely loud. I had to basically yell to talk to the person who was sitting with me. I would definitely visit again.

Good is good, not the best, but good. They are really heavy on carbs for breakfast, so keep that in mind when ordering pancakes, french toast, etc. (One order is more than enough for 2). Conversely, they are light on the meats and eggs IMHO. But, definitely a decent choice and I usually stop here when I'm in town.

I wanted the Big Country Egg Benedict. I ended up with a Country Ham. But I didn't send back my meal, and I should have. All I know, is I went in determined to get and eggs benedict. I thought I was pretty clear and audible with my order, but I guess I wasn't. When I got meal, I thought I must have read the wrong thing. My party knew what they wanted very quickly, and so I thought I must have rushed. So I went ahead eating my super super duper salty country ham. And when I checked the menu, it turned out I was right and my order was incorrect. But again, I didn't say anything. Even my boyfriend was surprised when he saw a piece of ham. It was loud, it was crowded, and yes I should have said something, but she got everything else right and was very kind. Sucks to have been me that day.

I was a little disappointed hearing how great this place was and waiting in line Friday morning for an "Alright" breakfast. We had a very good waiter he was very nice, checked with us frequently, and apologize for the little mistakes happening in the kitchen. Maybe we just went on a bad day but it was morning so you would think they would be on there A game. I had the eggwhite, chicken, tomato with avacado breakfast sandwich. I had to ask for more avacado. I also had a bowl of fruit. I LOVE fruit and I didn't even touch it. My husband even asked what was in there. Pineapples were dry and the blueberries weren't blue and very water downed. My husband had steak and eggs with grits. He didn't get his grits untill 20 min later because the cook messed up on the first batch. We were done with our meal when the waiter brought the grits. It was delicious but couldn't finish it because we were ready to leave. Atmosphere is cute but there seating is horrible. Especially when you are with a small table up against a wall. I won't come back here but hopefully you go on a good day. Just not for us.

My fiancé and I absolutely love the Egg Bistro and have been going for a few years now mostly for breakfast. We have never been disappointed with the food or the service. It is a madhouse on the weekends, but if you're willing to sit in the bar area or outside you're typically seated very quickly...either way it is worth the wait. For the price of the food you get a lot, we've never been able to finish a full meal. Their pancakes and french toast are phenomenal, honestly, everything we've tried has been great. I would suggest the cubed hash browns instead of the shredded because they are so good. The service has always been great, very friendly, and quick...even when it was a madhouse. We love this place and will continue to make it our go-to place for breakfast.

One of my fave on the area. I actually liked it more before everyone jumped on board of its awesomeness. The food is yummy and it's a plus that you can actually see them prepare it depending on where your sitting. The atmosphere is very cozy yet trendy.

Okay so I have to admit, when this location opened my husband and I had dinner there a couple times and both times it was terrible (like sloppy diner food). So it had literally been a year since we last went and I decided to give it one last chance. I noticed they had a new menu as well as a cute and spacious bar area in the back that we wanted to eat at. One thing they do right here is promote specials and happy hour, which is always a plus in my book. We started off with the goat cheese antipasto app, which was delicious. They also have a very interesting and assorted wine/glass list and for $1.50 off EVERYTHING from 5-7, you're definitley getting premium wine for a great value. Oh and I hear they do wine tastings on Wednesdays for $5 so we may have to strap the baby in the bjorn and check it out. For entrees, my husband ordered the grouper special, which was somewhat underwhelming (ie, not seasoned too well) and I ordered the slider trilogy and for $11 it definitley got the job done. Although BEB offers nicer entrees for the potential date nights my overall assertion is that this is "fancy guy food". Although you go in not having high expectations of the food and it delivering mediocrity, you have to appreciate their innovative and varied menu selections (esp amidst a sea of restaurants like Applebees and Buffalo Wild Wings). So this trip definitley renewed my interest in BEB as a great option for casual dining and happy hours in the future.

Turns out that I love this place for breakfast. I love that for $4.99, I can get a bagel sandwich (bagel, eggs, meat, cheese) and a side of delicious hash browns. Lots o' food for the price and tasty too...plus a variety of hot sauces and great service. This place is pretty busy in the AM on weekends, so expect a bit of a wait for a table and for your food to come out. Better yet, go for the bar or counter top tables and eliminate (a big chunk of) the wait! PS: You can't order lunch for breakfast, in case you are "not really a breakfast person." I tried.

Love this place. I go atleast 3 times a month. Staff is pretty friendly. Food is very reasonable. I mainly go for breakfast hours. Love the cube hasbrowns, and i qould normally get the biscuit and gravy, it never disappoints.

Not impressed. Came here with a party of seven, three of which were children age seven or younger. Our tab came to $71.89, which included a 20% tip of 11.98. Now, I'm a generous tipper, almost always 20% or better, but I do not take kindly to mandatory tipping, particularly 20%. Particularly when service and food are not that great! Particularly when you do not tell me that this is your policy (what number is the tipping point, anyway? -- 8 or more is the seating policy... group cannot be seated unless all 8 are present. Seems like the tip deal would be the same). Sure the prices are great, but who cares when so much else is wrong? Low grade sausage tastes like it has a ton of filler. Hashbrowns are mushy and taste more like flavorless mashed potatoes. Grits were cold and clumpy. Toast was cold. Pancakes were mediocre. The best thing about my breakfast was the orange juice, which tasted fresh squeezed. Fail. Will definitely not be back.

I went there with my 2.5 year old son to meet up with a friend for brunch. It was 10 AM on a Monday and the place was churning out customers so they have to be doing something right. My son's menu was a coloring paper and they gave us crayons. I think it's pretty awesome when restaurants do stuff like that. It lets me know that it's family friendly. I ordered him the chocolate chip pancakes with the smiley face. Woah, the pancake was huge and the smiley face was cute. The server suggested we get the square potatoes (like home fries) instead of the hash browns for him. Great call I am kind of jealous I didn't do the same because they were yummy and that's all my son wanted. I got the blue crab eggs benedict. It is basically a crabcake underneath. That was yummy too! I'll be honest, I've only had eggs benedict one other time in my life, so maybe I'm not a good judge of what is acceptable or not, but I would definitely order it again. The hashbrowns were kind or run of the mill, so next time I'm going with the potato squares. Our server was very attentive, especially to my son. I was impressed. Our food came out quickly, despite being hoppin'. The bathrooms were even spotless. We had a great experience and will definitely be returning!

First time that we have been to this restuarant. It was a Saturday morning and around 0830. We waited for about maybe 3 minutes before getting seated. I had no idea that the restuarant was this big. It is is located on the corner of the Harbour View Movie Theater, kind of off the beaten path being in the far corner. The place was packed but it was well staffed. We went with a friend and my two kids. My kids were occupied with coloring on the menu and they had the standard smiley face and chocolate chip pancakes. I thought the coffee was good and I like their coffee mugs with the ads on them. I ordered the meat lovers omelet with a side of hash browns. I was surprised by the size of the portions. I think the omelet cost $7.99 which is either cheaper or comparable to getting a Colorado omelet at IHOP. It was very good and the portions were large. My friend got the french toast and he couldnt eat it all. I also noticed that the toast was good and had thick slices. The waitress was excellent and extremely nice to my kids and I. The place was clean but I didnt hit the bathrooms. I also had no idea that they had a dinner menu. I should have took a picture but it seems that on Thursdays they have all u can eat pasta and it is free for kids. I also saw a happy hr and $4 margaritas. May have to go there in the evening some time or maybe get breakfast for dinner.

Came here on a Saturday for brunch with a friend and my 3 year old son. We dined outside since there was no wait. But the wait came after we were seated. What terrible service. We waited at least 20 minutes just to get drinks. I understand this sort of thing if the place is swamped - but it wasn't. Our server didn't seem with it. She was very sloppy, had makeup smeared all over her shirt. Spilled drinks every time she sat them down. The food was mediocre. My friend had the Mediterranean omelet, I had the eggs benedict, and my kid had pancakes. If the food were outstanding, I could overlook bad service (to a point), but it just overall isn't worth it. You'll get a better meal going to IHOP or Dennys - with better service and a better price.

Our family has eaten dinner here twice and has really enjoyed both visits. The first visit we spoke for a while with the owner/manager, who was pleasant, friendly and informative (plus is a UNC fan like us). The food was very good both times, both appetizers and entrees. My wife and I are both 'foodies' so we appreciate good cooking. The Island Calamari were cooked just right and the sweet chili sauce, though not what my teenagers are used to, was enjoyed by the group. The bacon wrapped jalapeno poppers with pepper jack cheese and raspberry reduction drizzle was a very good contrast in tastes that my son and I enjoyed. The menu allows you to customize your salads and also the sandwich offerings and even the steaks, fish and chicken, which is a nice flexibility allowing you to dial it in for your particular tastes. We've had the Blackened Tuna Steak (cajun style, tasty), the Grilled Chicken Breast (Mediterranean Style), Bourbon Grilled New York Strip and Chicken Alfredo plus several others. Every family member has been happy with each meal and we look forward to going back there so I debated between 4 and 5 stars but gave it 5.

HEARTY portion sizes...you will not still feel hungry after leaving this place. I normally get the meat lovers omelet or the cheesesteak for lunch. The breakfast menu is huge and there are more than enough options for everyone. On Sunday afternoons the wait for a table can be very long. The waiters are friendly, and all the cooks are visible so it can be pretty interesting to watch them navigate through the organized chaos of endless orders. I wish they didn't change the name to "The Egg Bistro" it sounds too close to D'Egg, which is their "competitor" restaurant in Norfolk. Broken Egg just sounds alot more cooler, hip. Just my two cents. But this place is worth trying out, especially for breakfast.

I was not blown away by this restaurant and was a bit disappointed. The hostess seemed to be confused and took a while to seat several parties when the restaurant was basically empty. I sat at the counter and it took awhile for my server just bring me water, and even longer to get my wine order. I ordered a chicken dish place over pasta. The chicken was tasty and spicy, however the pasta was barely warm and unappealing. Maybe I just called them on a bad night and order the wrong dish mike give them 1 more try but if they fall short the next time I will not go back.

Great breakfast! Love the veggie omelet. Always seems to be extremely noisy. Should not schedule extremely large parties during prime time dining. Large, expanded menu. Easily accommodates substitutions. Friendly servers. Great food. On the pricey side. Get coupons @ restaurant.com .

I definitely love Broken Egg, but since almost everyone on here is talking about their amazing breakfast, I am going to put their catering skills in the spotlight. They made this weekend extra special and they deserve a thousand thank yous for it. I met with the owner recently to plan everything out. They have a wide range of options on the catering menu but they were also more than happy to fulfill specially requested ideas. The guys arrived on time to the house and set everything up for us for the party. They even provided all the extras...they brought chafing dishes, an extra table for serving, tongs, plastic ware, serving trays. Let me tell you about all of the amazing food...for our finger foods, we had spinach & artichoke dip, shrimp cocktail, country ham biscuits with a horseradish honey mustard sauce, and one of my absolute faves were these Mediterranean kebabs that have tomato, mozzarella, artichoke hearts, and roasted red peppers topped with pesto and drizzled with a balsamic glaze. For the main buffet table, we had a beautiful selection. First, we had the five spice tuna, little stackers of mashed potatoes, tuna bites and topped with the five spice sauce. Next, mini crab cakes paired with either cocktail sauce or roasted red pepper cream sauce. Moving along, one of my special requests that they did a phenomenal job with was coconut chicken with a mango habanero chutney. We also had beef satay with peanut sauce for dipping. Another little treat they made me were the jalapeños stuffed with cream cheese and shrimp, then wrapped in bacon...we had a zesty raspberry sauce for these. Last, but certainly not least, a real bonus were the chocolate-covered strawberries. So, the catering was an absolute hit and all of my guests, and believe me, we have a lot of foodies in the group--they were all raving about the food and the presentation. Thanks Broken Egg!!! Love ya!

Definitely one of my favorite places. For a really delicious burger go on Wednesday burger night. Breakfast is excellent and service is always good. Can be crowded and the place needs some sound deadening. Gets really noisy.

The food and service is always great here. My wife and I love going here on Friday nights. The half price Martin's and the dinner specials are fantastic. They make the best calamari appetizer we've ever had. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of food. Always a great dinner.

Phenomenal food, the place is always packed especially on the weekends so get there early! My two complaints, there's barely any sausage in their sausage gravy (which make for a boring biscuits and gravy) and the waitstaff is extremely undertrained. A party of 14 shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes for their checks to be separated. Our server came and talked to us 3 different times while trying to sort out the check and she still had them completely wrong. In the end we paid the bill (which had 2 extra entrees and a gratuity on it) because we were sick of waiting. I spoke to the manager and unfortunately the only help he offered was to "take a look at the checks and see what was going on" no thanks bro- I don't have another 20 minutes to kill.

Stopped in at this place and was not impressed at all. First off, it was a wednesday night and you can see this place was busy because of the wait. Well it wasnt that busy because they just werent seating people. We got seated 25 minutes after our wait and got sat near a couple with there 2 children. I couldnt help but overhear the couple talking to the waitress and they were pleading to get there food. They had been waiting for over an hour now and there kids had finished there whole meal. The serve tried to let them know that the food would be up soon but they just wanted to leave. I dont blame them. The kids meal was done and they wont sit still. Another lady came over, not from the restaraunt, and let them know that there food had been delayed for over an hour because it was dropped in the kitchen. Thats my queue to leave.
