I've been coming here since I was five years old with my grandparents and my parents. My most recent visit, which I had been anticipating for weeks because I no longer live near Roanoke, was a huge disappointment. I have no idea what is going on at this location. My fiance and I went on a Monday night around 5 P.M., I know this is early but I've always thought the food was fresher around this time because it is when a lot of older people who frequent this place eat. I couldn't have been more wrong about that on this visit. He and I both got grilled chicken and I got fried okra and turnip greens. As soon as the grilled chicken was put on a plate, I was pissed. Both mine and his were the size of a quarter, completely unacceptable. We decided not to say anything since eating there on Monday is cheap anyways, but it only got worse. When we sat down to actually eat it, mine was ice cold. My fried okra was also freezing. I actually marched back up there and told the cashier both items were cold. She asked if I wanted them microwaved and I told her no and that I wanted something that was going to be hot. She looked at me as if I was crazy and acted as if all of the items were hot. Guess what lady? They clearly aren't. I traded my grilled chicken breast and fried okra in for a hamburger steak and mashed potatoes. I do admit, those were better and hot. My fiance and I also got dessert. I thought they made the pies on site here, but mine tasted like a frozen pie and looked like a frozen pie. My coconut cream pie didn't have anything on Marie Callendar's. Lastly, the waitress never came around to refill our drinks, too busy chatting it up with the regulars. With so many other good places to eat when I visit Roanoke, I will be permanently marking K & W off my list. Goodbye.

It's exactly what it says it is! Cafeteria style food and prices. No complaints from me. Like every restaurant they have hits and misses. My favorite thing is the turkey and dressing! I always over eat!

I don't think I'll come back to this restaurant. Only one of the servers actually smiled at us. I'm pretty sure I heard a sigh as I was taking a minute to make a food choice. Our waitress was very friendly so she made up for some of negativity. Plus the mashed potatoes were way too salty.

The 5 stars is for the Chicken and Dumplings. I crave this like a madwoman. I can't remember anything else I get. :D No, seriously, good Southern style food. At least 2 fried and battered vegetables, great biscuits. Price? Cheap. C&D is $3.35 (at lunch, anyway. Not sure if they raise prices for dinner.

Great place to grab a quick bit to eat. Price as reasonable and the service are great. K&W is located in the one corner of the mall. It can be a little hard to find if you don't know the area. It's a Cafeteria style; you pick and choose what you want, from drinks to desserts so everything has a price. You do pay on the way out after your done eating. The do have fast and friendly staff, that will refill your drinks and help you out with your needs. There is plenty of mall parking for you to use.

This is not a high end joint, it's cafeteria food that actually tastes good. You can always find something tasty here no matter what you are craving. It's distinctly southern style cooking and it hits the spot without hitting your pockets.
