I've been eating here for years and often go out my way to visit. Whether you've been up in the National Forest fishing, or find yourself between Charlottesville and Lynchburg this is a great place to grab a quick lunch. They also have wonderful soft ice cream.

4 stars for the ice cream and shakes the food is just a 2 and a half. Typical greasy spoon food with burgers, fries, corn dogs etc. The milk shakes are delicious and worth a stop if you are in the area. There is no seating so be ready to sit in your car.

You can't miss the large ice cream cone outside of this place. This locally owned joint serves hamburgers, BBQ pork sandwiches, hotdogs, ice cream, flounder sandwiches. chicken tenders, fries, onion rings and breakfast biscuits. On my most recent visit, I had a chocolate milkshake and it was decent, but not the best I have ever had. This is one of the only places around for 10 miles to eat. THe prices here are very low and can't be beat. No inside places to sit and no picnic tables outside this joint. If you are traveling between Cville and Lburg on route 29 south and you would like to experience the best onion rings EVAH, you need to stop in at this place. It's about 8 miles south of Lovingston, look for the big ice cream cone on the right hand side. Did I mention their burgers? OMG As good as Five Guys if not better. They also have kick ass ice cream. It's fun to park your car right in front and people watch- it's a total hoot and way more entertaining than watching TV but the onion rings- honestly- THE BEST.

As a friend said "that place is a life saver." If you're on the road between Charlottesville and Lynchburg, the Drive In is the only place to stop for a quick bite. Besides soft serve ice cream, try a BBQ sandwich and a butterscotch milkshake!
