French toast was goooood! Fairly fast service. Pretty no nonsense. Get in, get some good French toast, get out. It's a nice little place near off the freeway.

Skip the fast food and eat here solid burgers and fries. Good reasonable prices as well.

A great place to stop in for breakfast. Open on Sundays. Good service. The food was good quality - a step above Denny's for the breakfast. The french toast and the bacon were excellent!

Had an amazing breakfast here. Ordered an omelette and it was filled with fresh and yummy veggies. Had a great taste. The rye toast they served was excellent with a great flavor. Yummy coffee and great tap water. Server was very friendly. We were warmly greeted when we walked in.There were locals in the restaurant when I was here and I enjoyed hearing their conversation about what was happening in town. The serving was huge and I ate everything on my plate. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast.

Beaver, UT is not within my normal stomping grounds, but when I was passing through the high praise of other's Yelp ratings brought me in for breakfast. I'm very happy I (along with four others in my party) stopped in. Arshel's Café is an unexpectedly pleasant place for a good meal and great service. The menu is broad, allowing each of us to order different breakfasts, and each breakfast was fresh, tasty and satisfying. The service was friendly and accommodating. The décor is simple (which I would expect in a small town setting), but well-maintained and clean. Overall, both the food and the experience were a pleasant diversion from a long drive. It is definitely worth stopping by of you have a chance, and a much better option than that fast food chain immediately off the freeway.

Good food and very sweet cottage family feel. I had chicken fried steak it was good. But the tuna sandwich was the table winner! Yum! I'm giving a 3 star because I got a weird vibe when we walked in. . . like we were bothering them. Also, I asked if they would serve breakfast in the afternoon and the cook didn't know we could hear her but the waitress asked and she laughed. Then said "are you serious!?!" "Thats what they asked!" she giggled and shrugged. Come on people give me some pancakes! IDC what time it's is!

On the way to St. George and really wasn't interested in chain fast food. Decided to give this place a try. Outside is nothing to impress but don't let that deter you. I got French Toast and Bacon. The French toast was good not great. Better than the French fries I may have gotten someplace else however. The Bacon is served crunchy. Some like it that way. I prefer it a bit on the wiggly side. It was still good. I'd recommend a table. The booth I was in was very uncomfortable. Bottom line - want something that's just good sit down in Beaver Utah? I'd say try here.

Home-made strawberry rhubarb pie? Um, YES, please :) This little place is cute. The signage and decor are adorable. The friend and I stopped here for lunch. The service was phenomenal and they even have a set of random little books on every table to keep you entertained while your partner decides what they are going to order. I had the fish & chips and a cup of clam chowder which was just OK but I'm thankful that I left plenty or room for a slice of some of their home-made pie topped off with some of their home-made whipping creme. It was fantastic! (make sure to check out the picture).

Clean, friendly, and the food is good. There aren't too many places to eat in Beaver, so your choices are going to come down to this or a Mexican restaurant about two miles down. This place is a real gem and I would recommend it. Sure, the decor is 50 years outdated, but the service is great and the food is good for the price. Eat here when in Beaver.

This place was recommended by the front desk at my hotel. I looked up reviews and thought it would be good! The service was pretty good however the foor wasnt what i was hoping for. I ordered the pork chops and they could have been seasoned better. The baked potatoe was clearly not cooked all the way or sat in the oven and cooled down then they reheated it in the microwave.. It was stale on the bottom. My mother in law ordered the chicken salad and tge salad was very average.. I guess the pie is amazing considering the people by us got a taste of all the flavors and couldnt stop talking about it..

Such a great find. Great alternative to fast food. Delicious home-cooked food. Cute, little restaurant with great atmosphere. Very fast, friendly service. We will definitely make this a regular stop when passing through.

Wife and I ate here this morning. She had the diced ham and scrambled with hash browns and thick sour dough toast. All was great. I had the pancake sandwich with crispy bacon. 4 pieces of thick really crispy bacon. really good. The pancakes had crispy edges I also really like that, good flavor to the cakes the only negative was that they were less than warm. I was really disappointed because it would have been an A+ meal. Don't remember our servers name but she was over the top on service.

If you are craving a hot homemade meal, featuring real mashed potatoes, hot homemade soup, and garden fresh vegetables, then this place is NOT for you. However, if you are OK with instant potatoes, luke-warm Campbell's soup, and overcooked veggies from a bag, then Welcome to Arshels! I had originally given it three stars, but luckily Yelp didn't post my review immediately, giving me a chance to experience Arshels all over again - about an hour later in a rest stop about an hour North of town. Let's just say I left a lot more than one star behind at that rest stop. This place changed my life - and by *changed*, I mean *shortened* it.

Pie and coffee stop on our travels. Wonderful crust (they use lard, of course!) and a fresh cup of joe In the afternoon. Our waitress said she was the granddaughter of the original owners...and she was divine. Five stars all the way!!

Sure they probably get their food from the same brand x food truck as most small diners, but there is something special here. I asked for my bacon to be lightly cooked instead of crispy, which they perfectly did. It is hard to put my finger on it after just one visit, but I'd go back if another road trip brought me passed it, especially cause I was too full to try some of their classic pies. Waitress was friendly and informative. I feel like it was too perfect when she inquired about the can I had on the table and I seemed to blow her mind when I explained about the stevia sweetened natural energy drink. Small town fun :)

Stopped here while on a road trip. It was nice to be able to get some none greasy road food. Finally had fresh vegetables and salad that my body thanked me for. The service was super and the inside was laid back but quaint and very clean. My dad enjoyed his burger and fries too, which, weren't greasy either. A good place to stop.

I'm glad that I tried Arshel's for breakfast. There were quite a number of choices and the basted eggs on English muffins with sausage gravy were a great comfort food treat to start my day.

Great restaurant! Perhaps the best roast beef dinner I ever had! A delightful waitress....very friendly. This is a great alternative to the fast food establishments by the freeway.

This is where I stop for food between St. George and SLC. It's the best fried chicken I've ever had! And don't forget to try the homemade cream pies.

  • Raucus B.

I love this place! So much so that I time my travels just so I can pass through at meal time. Not that I'm opposed to second breakfast by any means. It's that good. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, I've always been satisfied. Truly like mom's cooking and my mother is an excellent cook. ~m

Great little cafe. Server is super friendly. The family had a variety of items that were all good. Grilled Turkey Sandwich, Grilled Cheese, Cordon Bleu, and the Pork Loin Special. The sides of fries, salad, soup (potato) were good. Try a slice of the fresh pies for dessert or take home!

  • Lauren R.

We stopped here as soon as we saw the neon glowing. The waitress was great we were also even greeted by a couple patrons and I must say, it was pretty darn good. I especially suggest getting the patty melt with the orange cranberry bread (it sounds weird but it was DELICIOUS) i wouldn't suggest the angus melt, it was very good, but just a little tough to eat. The burgers were also simple, pretty delicious and homemade. A great stop for the hungry traveler.

I wish I drove through Beaver more often so I could come back! The food was amazing and the staff was super friendly. Even though I walked in by myself on a holiday during brunch, they still seated me at a regular sized table and treated me like a queen. I highly recommend stopping here, even if you're just on your way to Vegas or SLC. It's super cute.

  • Lawrence C.

I'd like to give this place a better rating, I just had a weird vibe when I went in, like I wasn't welcome. It's weird. I liked the food at el Bambi down the street better anyway.

Basic and perfect. All you need in a small diner. Thank you.

  • Jenni M.

OMG this place was HORRIBLE! We had a club sandwich and a grilled chicken salad. Everything on my salad plate either came out of a can or a bag. They couldn't even toast the bread correctly for the sandwich. Nothing was fresh or enjoyable. It was comical how bad it was. Stay as far away as possible! I completely agree with Sue's idea that friends and family are definitely fluffing up their rating.

  • Angela D.

So definitely a tiny, simple, small-town diner, but the food was good, and the service was super fast and friendly. Very reasonably priced too. We got 2 BLT's with sides, drinks and pie for under $23. The pie is homemade and delicious, I highly recommend getting it! Also, large clean, modern bathrooms. Hey, some people like to know that. So while it may not be big or fancy, if you are in Beaver looking for food, it's definitely worth stopping here :)

  • Its C.

What a pleasant surprise. We had a mushroom burger, chicken strips and pot roast, all very good and the pies were amazing. Coconut cream and apple berry pie were light and not too sweet but still very tasty. Great service too.

Every small town needs an awesome small dinner and this is it . Thanks to the reviews here, I stopped by. The food is home-style cooking. The pie is definitely as good as people say.

cute little diner with friendly waitresses. i'm a picky eater in that i am gluten and dairy free, which makes it hard for me on the road when i can't find an asian restaurant, but the waitress was patient and accommodating. she guided me and directed the kitchen so that i could have my unbreaded tilapia and un-buttered veggies with a side of rice. it wasn't the greatest meal i had in utah but given the other local options, it was probably the healthiest i could have done.

Love love love. Great service, clean, simple cafe. Gourmet, no, but genuine, fresh, down home food. Great way to support local.

WOW! What a VERY pleasant surprise this was! Tiny little thing in the middle of nowhere and yet, all the best aspects of food experience: great food, family feel, quick service and low, low prices. I don't think I'm going to be in this area anytime soon, but if I am, this is where I am going to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner!

Great break when traveling I15. We had breakfast on 03.31.2012. Wonderful atmosphere, great service, and good food. Next trip, try getting off the interstate (whichever one you are traveling), and take the business route through town (whichever town you are about to again have fast food on the interstate). It won't take that long, and besides - you need the break from the mind-numbing interstate. Business Routes are simply the route before the freeway by-passed the town all-together; hiding places such as Arshel's Cafe from your life. Get off the freeway and there is a good chance you will find gems such as Arshel's Cafe! The cafe is at the North end of Main street. There is only one MaIn street anyway, so you can't miss it.

I was so pleased to find a local diner actually open on Sunday while driving through Beaver last weekend. Arshels totally saved me from having to eat at Subway or heaven forbid, Burger King. The atmosphere inside was cozy and comforting, very much a traditional American diner, the service was friendly, and I was very surprised at how fabulous the coffee was, it was above and beyond most diner coffee. My group ordered a BLT, Chicken Malibu, Patty Melt, Tuna Melt, and a Mushroom burger, and everyone was more than satisfied with their meal. Will definitely stop next time I'm driving through.

If you are on I 15 passing by/through Beaver you HAVE to eat here. Amazing home cooked goodness. Adorable frilly decorations, pies on display, sweet server walking around offering hot coffee. We went for lunch and I started with their soup special (perfect clam chowder) and had a party melt with fries. Simple, but so good. My boyfriend had the hot, open face, cube steak sandwich with mashed potatoes and white gravy. He ate every bite. One of the better white gravies I've ever had. Needless to say, if we ever find ourselves in Beaver, Utah again, we'll be back.

If you're driving on I-5, the tiny town of Beaver is located about halfway in-between northern & southern Utah (just off the highway) and it makes a convenient meal stop. We ate at Arshel's (a diner-type place) in 10/06. The food was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was pleasant.

I was recommended to this restaurant for breakfast by the motel I stayed at. It had the look and feel of a 1950's diner. Service was quick and very pleasant. The restaurant was clean, comfortable, and while it gave the appearance of having no updates in 60 years, it was very well cared for and was in excellent condition. It was like stepping into the past, which is pretty cool. The coffee was quite good. I ordered the classy country breakfast, which is basically eggs Benedict with country gravy instead of hollandais sauce. The food was well prepared and delicious. It was nice to see such a gem being so well cared for and to also put out such good food.

I ate at arshels in beaver UT. The meal was advertised as homemade. but when I ordered the daily special it turned out to be homemade noodles with chicken broth and a little vegetables and a scoop of instant potatoes with 2 chicken strips that were not edible and no flavor . When I complained about the food an offer to pay 4 the salad and a coffee which I had consume but not the main course I was told by the owner he was going to have me arrested. I have about 30 years cooking and I wouldn't have said that to my dog the star rating of one is the lowest on the scale I'd give it a 1 quarter the owner was rude had no sense of customer service or pleasing the customer.

As a fan of diners and offbeat places, I really wanted to like this place, but I have to say that I don't get the 4 star reviews. I realize we're talking about Beaver, UT and maybe there's not much better in town, but really? First, in my mind it's a cafe, not a diner. A quibble, I know, and it does have the hallmark pie case. To start with dessert first, we didn't try the pies, so I can't comment on them. I actually wish I had tried the chocolate peanut butter pie that others have raved about, because the strawberry shortcake was a HUGE disappointment. The "shortcake" looked and tasted like a muffin; in fact, it looked like it came out of one of those cellophane bulk containers of muffins you'd get in a cheapo motel breakfast. The strawberries were scant (and we debated whether they were fresh) and the whipped cream was watery. In the end half of it was left. My entree was the pecan chicken and shrimp. What a weird dish. I guess it was chicken fried, but the coating ended up soft, maybe because of the sauce. Which, frankly, seemed like some honey with some chopped pecans. OK, but nothing to write home about. The two fried shrimp were fine, but had no apparent connection to the chicken. My wife had the salmon, which was fine. Sort of reminded her of Costco frozen salmon, but then she likes their salmon. It was on the sides that things really fell apart. The rice was mushy, the corn was canned, and my baked potato came out hard (clearly microwaved). These are things a cafe should not drop the ball on. On the other hand, the horseradish sauce for the fish was unique, and very tasty. On the upside, the salad was fine. Pretty basic iceberg lettuce with some shredded carrots and a couple olives, but it tasted fresh. And the service was very friendly and attentive. Bottom line is that with cafes like this I don't expect fancy or avant-garde, I expect a slice of either Americana or local culture. This was neither. With a little effort, they could do better (maybe they do a better job for breakfast) .

We were driving thru on our way home to vegas and we stopped in beaver to stretch our legs. We got to Arshels 15 min before closing and the staff was very nice and let us stay until after closing (9:30). The mushroom burger was well seasoned and very good! The BLT was good too! Highly recommended!

[REVIEW FROM THE ROAD] Nice Diner on Main Street (In A Quiet Utah Town) SITREP After a long day of driving up from Glendale, CA, through Las Vegas, NV, taking the corner edge of AZ, and then hitting Utah, we jetted about 500 miles (not too shabby) and arrived in Beaver, UT. THE SETUP By the time we got here, we checked into a hotel that my Uncle Gary's buddy recommended. He also recommended Arshes Café as a nice diner stop to satisfy our dinner cravings. So we ended up here. THE MENU Very simple folded menu with some lunch and dinner combos listed throughout. It seems that they feature a regular dinner combo different days of the week as a discounted special. I opted exactly for the featured chicken-fried steak on that basis. MEAL METRICS The cost of the meal was around $11. On this basis, I am going to be realistic and say it was a solid decent meal, and the service was exceptional and the gal brought me all the condiments I wanted for my baked potato. The reality check: this certainly not the size steak or potato you'd get at Outback or Mortons. In fact it was not what I would really call a hearty meal. What WAS a hearty meal was the Breakfast Skillet I got at Denny's earlier this morning for $8. But again - different location and meal metrics. So I was happy with what I got. DESSERT And there was an apple cobbler that (for extra) she put some vanilla ice cream on. THE LOWDOWN On the road, I'm happy to get a solid meal deal as I felt I enjoyed at Arshels.

We stopped here in the hopes for a wonderful, small-town diner experience. We saw menu items such as Country Fried Steak and thought, "yes. This place will surely do this item justice." About 1.4 seconds into the first rubbery bite, we looked on enviously at the cows grazing on grass. The burgers were bland, the mashed potatoes tasted like paper. The roll wasn't half bad; I'm pretty sure they bought it at the store. There's one thing they did right: that Beaver water is delicious.

This cafe what is nice. I could make any of the food at home, however I am not at home, I am traveling through on vacation. The ingredients were obviously from a restaurant bulk supplier, which I only slightly minded because the they were so fresh. The location most likely does not lean itself to a wide variety of farm fresh daily ingredients to create new unique recipe, though the menu is ideal for the location being in a smaller size rural community, a little way off the freeway. It is a nice break from fast food chin restaurants. The older style farm decor gave me second thoughts which were quickly resolved by the cleanliness of the whole place (even the restrooms). The staff was friendly.

Our group chose this over fast food and we'd do it again. Delicious and delightful coconut creme pie. One in our group chose the honey pecan chicken and shrimp and calls it sublimely unique, a three course meal in each bite. He enjoyed the sweetness of it and said it was like dessert & dinner at the same time! We were the only ones in the restaurant just before closing and service was fast, friendly, well-informed. Nice poster of Butch Cassidy history on the wall (available for sale here too). Enjoy!

This place is so good and homemade!!! The chicken noodle soup had real homemade noodles in it. The country gravy was so thick and delicious. I'm going to be sad this place isn't closer to home. Also very clean and delicious coffee with real cream. Make this a stop on your way to Vegas. Yum!

A traditional diner with mainly local clientele, and friendly to guests. We had a tuna salad, and ribeye. Tuna salad is a classic iceberg salad with canned tuna. I was wanting vegetables and salad was the best choice. The ribeye was cooked as requested and fries looked to be fresh cut. The desserts are made be the owner and all looked great. We has the cherry pie which was pleasantly tart.

This place has everything you're looking for in a small town diner. Friendly staff, cheap food, fast service. (as well as some interesting locals) Boyfriend and I split the combo breakfast and added a side of biscuits and gravy. Eggs: standard, hashbrowns: perfect, bacon: delicious, biscuits and gravy: excellent, pancakes: ok, coffee: weak. Definitely a good option for breakfast rather than fast food. And we were in and out in 30 minutes.

I travel to Beaver, UT each year to get away from the city life of Las Vegas. This is THE BEST lil' cafe! I eat here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner when I visit. It's a small town, and this cafe brings back a sweet type of nostalgia when you dine there.

The place opened at 7 which is kind of late for a cafe but the staff was very friendly, the place was clean and the food was great. I had the smothered eggs which consisted of two english muffins topped with two eggs over easy, covered with gravy and served with hash browns. The gravy was made fresh was wasn't grainy or lumpy but it was a tad under salted. The eggs were cooked to perfection which is a rare find in any restaurant.

After staying in Beaver last night, I checked out Yelp! to find a good breakfast place. We were not disappointed with Arshels Cafe. Pleasant, friendly service, and good basic breakfast food in perfect portions. It is a cute little diner and I recommend giving them a try.

Food was normal small town lunch. The food would have been given a 2 rating, but The Pie deserves a 10!! BEST CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER PIE! I am normally not a big fan of pie. Normally I think it's ok, but this was the Best. I had to resist ordering a whole pie to go, but I still have a 10 hour drive ahead of me. Prices were great! 6 of us ate for $60 including 6 sandwiches + 3 drinks + 2 slices of pie.

Yummy food, comfortable seating, friendly service. What more could you want on the road? Great potato soup! Much better then stopping fir fast food and the price wasn't breaking the bank (always a bonus) Just wish i had left room for some fresh pie!

We schedule our drives so that we hit this place for lunch or dinner. Small, very casual inside, and the menu is traditional and straight forward. Decent food, nothing to write home about. Prices are no bargain. What made this place for us was the books by Ben Goode. We were passing through Southern Utah on our way home from Idaho to Southern Cal and decided to stay in Beaver instead of Cedar City for the way back. Arshels was one of the few places open so we went in. I had chicken fried steak and my kid had the chicken fingers. I'd heard that the chicken fried steak was good in Southern Utah. Sorry to report, Arshels was completely average. I'd had similar quality at a Dennys. Prices were same as the big city, whereas in Cedar City - a bigger town than Beaver - they are a good 20% lower. Puzzling. What made this for us was the books by Ben Goode. Hilarious! He is a local author and they sell his books at the front. My kid started reading one and was immediately hooked. If you go to this place, get a booth and start reading.

Okay, you're driving from Salt Lake City to Bryce/Zion/Vegas. Your options are... well, a bit limited. But if you have to make a choice, come to Arshel's. The atmosphere is great; everyone is super friendly and nice. The place just screams 'old-school diner' without any of the fake stuff you're likely to see on the way to Vegas. While you're eating, you probably really WILL see a trucker pull up, wander in, chat with the servers (who he has met before, of course), and eat a giant meal with some pie. The food is fine, it tastes a bit reheated (comes out too quick to be otherwise...), and the salad is just iceberg lettuce. The soup is pretty good and the pie is OUTSTANDING. If you need a little break on your drive, I don't think there's anywhere better on the 15. Seriously, check it out.

cute little diner with friendly waitresses. i'm a picky eater in that i am gluten and dairy free, which makes it hard for me on the road when i can't find an asian restaurant, but the waitress was patient and accommodating. she guided me and directed the kitchen so that i could have my unbreaded tilapia and un-buttered veggies with a side of rice. it wasn't the greatest meal i had in utah but given the other local options, it was probably the healthiest i could have done.

Tiny little thing in the middle of nowhere and yet, all the best aspects of food experience: great food, family feel, quick service and low, low prices.
