Always great service ! This place is in my top five Mexican restaurants in the Houston area . The food is always great and the service is even better.

I never say no to mexican food....So I know my texmex. Immediately upon arriving I was seated and greeted by a friendly waitress. If it's your first time they give you a sample of the tortillas (don't abuse this! Very generous). They bring out fresh salsa with a little bit of heat but not overpowering and refried beans with the chips which is a nice change of pace from your usual appetizer. Not being super hungry that day I only got a chicken fajita taco a la carte on corn tortillas. Both the corn and flour tortillas are made in house and delicious! My only complaint is that I ordered from the regular menu which says the fajita tacos in the entree come with pico, guac, and sour cream but the a la carte taco just comes plain with meat and tortilla. That would've been good to know BEFORE ordering. Will come back for a full meal!

I have not been so pleased with the vegetarian options offered on a menu in a long time. I had a hard time deciding. I chose the vegetarian fajitas. I was amazed at the freshness and selection of veggies. Grilled Portobello mUshrooms, sweet red peppers, poblano peppers, onion, topped with a hot pepper wrapped in handmade corn tortillas made my mouth water with all of the flavor combinations. Tasted like they picked the veggies fresh from the garden and grilled them just for me! The Meal was accompanied by vegetarian black beans, fresh guacamole, and a choice of a fresh veggies of the day. I chose the asparagus. Vegetarian should not miss the selection and freshness of this food!

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE GOES A LONG WAY We had a group of 12 guys for a birthday dinner on a Friday night. When they said no reservations on weekend evening, I started to look for alternative restaurants, but the guest of honor was having none of that. I spoke to one of the managers to get some advise and he had two suggestions. One was to call him a couple hours ahead of time just to let him know we were still coming in. Two, he suggested someone from our party get there 45 minutes ahead of time to put us on the list. The manager sat a couple tables next to each other around 6pm so they would leave around the same time. It worked out perfectly. Between the bar tabs and the table, we had about 30 margaritas. The food was great as always and the service was too. There was plenty of visible management checking on people and helping out, which I really like. I've been to restaurants where managers will let a server drown instead of helping them out, and this place wasn't like that at all. Just a quick note about the bar. It was really crowded with people waiting for tables, but the bartenders were making an effort to get drinks to people quickly and not just to the servers picking up drinks for their tables. They definitely earned the 5 stars on this visit for making this a great evening.

Fajitas and margaritas, delish! Great staff and servers & the bean do that comes with the chips is awesome! I will say the overall ambiance makes up for whatever some of the food is missing. Lupe is a solid place because it's consistently good.

LUPE, YOU ARE THE BOMB!!!!!! I always ask for you whenever I'm in Houston and I'm never disappointed. A pound of steak fajitas is good enough for me! it runs about $40 but you're suppose to share it between 2 other people. The steak is deliciously marinated and grilled!!! you get so much flavor in every piece! Another plus is their giant tortilla which, does not even taste like a tortilla. Its a hybrid between bread and a crepe! Its so gooooood! I call it a burrito instead of a fajita taco when wrapped because its so big!!! I could get full on one of those but I always just munch on the second one. I fill my tortilla up with a whole bunch of meat though. They can get pretty big, as big as the chipotle burrito! over stuffed and flowing!! :)

I hate to give an average review because the head chef came to my table to ask how my meal was. I was honest with him. The enchilada verde's tomatillo sauce seemed bottled to me. The sauce was just sour. It seemed to me that it needed some sweetness to it or something else. I don't know how to describe it but this is not like other tomatillo sauces in other restaurants that I really like. The rice serving was small. It was unecessarily spicy (perhaps too much pepper) and dry. Rice is cheap and they could be more generous with the serving and not let it dry so much. There were too many pieces of green peppers on it too. The food doesn't come with beans because there were borracho beans served in the beginning along with the chips and salsa. I have to give this restaurant credit for the borracho beans and salsa. Furthermore, they do offer baked chips, but you'll have to wait a long time for them. By the time the waiter was getting ready to bring me the baked chips, I had eaten enough of the regular ones and didn't want them. Jose, the head chef, was sorry I didn't enjoy my meal. He offered a dessert and comped my meal. I believe the restaurant is over priced. Don't expect to see anything for less than $9 on the lunch menu.

It seems that Lupe Tortilla is a little under rated in my opinion. This restaurant definitely deserves 5 Stars. The service is absolutely exceptional. The food was amazing. They give you spicy pico and warm bean dip with your chips. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area.

I feel conflicted writing this review. I went to Lupe Tortilla today for the first time. I had read the reviews before going but still decided to give it a shot. Now, some people may like the idea, but I find it odd to have beans as a dipping sauce for chips. I was actually confused by it. Was it supposed to be soup for us or a dip for the chips? But then why was there only one cup and no spoons? But it didn't matter, I continued dipping in the salsa, which seemed like a watered-down pace sauce with added pico de gallo. Don't get me wrong, it was good, just an odd consistency. We ordered a Michelada, and when the glasses came I was disappointed in the amount of mix(?) that they had filled it with. Talk about stingy, but still I thought, maybe it's some potent stuff. Wrong. It tasted only like beer once we poured the beer into the glass. The server was nice, but took long at times (it wasn't busy) and even forgot my order so he had to come back and clarify. The best part was the food, hands down. At least on my part. My boyfriend got the chicken fajitas and he can only describe them as "average". I ordered the crab and avocado enchiladas. I loved it. If you are a fan of cheesy plates, that is the plate for you. No complaints there. I wish I could have that plate without having to go back. And I asked myself if I would go back for that plate, but, at the end of the day, no. The prices threw me off. I'm sorry if I'm cheap, or maybe disregarding their use of great quality ingredients (are they really that much different?) but they are very over priced. I mean, that chicken fajita plate would have been 12 dollars at Gringo's but was 17 here.... The atmosphere/place was nice and we didn't have to wait at all for a table, but it was 9:30 so not at a peak hour. I really wanted to like this place. And I absolutely did love what I ordered and will savor my left over Enchilada for as long as I can because it was AMAZING. I mean seriously, I think it was amazing... And would be disappointed if others thought otherwise, but I can't justify going back. I really don't even know what to rate them. I want to rate them 2 but feel that's too low, and then consider a 3 but feel that's too high... I'll go with a 3. Their food wasn't bad. Maybe they had an off night at the bar, or the bartender likes the micheladas a certain way. The server could have been more attentive. But those prices are high. Okay I've rambled enough.

Worst place ever i got the enchiladas were dry.Like they're sitting there all day and they just put them in the oven to melt the cheese.my bf got the poblano chicken and they didnt even took the time to peel the pepper.never going back to lupe tortilla.#smh

The best experience ever!!! My family and I were very pleased with the customer service, quality of food and the taste. This will definitely be a restaurant that I will recommend and come to again. Chris was our beautiful hostess. She truly made us feel like we were her only customers. I would recommend that if you done here ask for her as your hostess. She will not disappoint you. She earned the tip that we gave her.

I am sitting here and have been for about 1 hr and 20 mons so far and if it wasn't for needing to feed my son we would have left already. first time the food xamnputbit was cold now I am waiting a bother 20 mons and I am still hungry. And there are 6 other tables without food. But the bar keeps getting served while the rest of the restaurant waits over am hour for food

Good margaritas and tasty food. I like this place better than Gringos and Don Picos. They have a great happy hour menu and friendly staff.

  • Trina M.

Alright, perhaps coming here a week after dining in Juarez, Mexico is unfair. Because there is NO comparison, so I'm not going to rate these guys against the authentic experience scale. The drinks were nice and strong and the queso fundido with chorizo was alright. I do love the fajitas here and the salsa and chips are really good too. I'll have to space out my visits and my trips so they aren't so close together next time......

  • Anthony C.

Worst texmex food to date. We ordered to-go. I showed up 20 minutes after my order was placed and my food was cold. They offered me a complimentary tea, but their sweetener jar was full of sugar ants. Gross. On top of that, I ordered a thing of queso and salsa and the host forgot to put chips in the bag with them - after I asked twice if he had. Had to drive back and get the chips, which were stale. All while enduring the indifferent crap attitude of the to-go host. Never eating here again.

    (1)
  • David W.

Horrible service. It's one thing to be busy but it's another to consistently lie to your customer and say your food is on its way out and it just never comes. I literally saw sweat from the bartenders head drip into my drink. My drink the he poured the wrong alcohol and says its ok right? Then still charge me for it. I use to like this place but I will never be back. I forgot to mention that I placed my food order to go and they charged me for it the moment I got here. It was $46 I gave the $60 and they never brought my change. Smh. They finally brought food it was cold and over cooked. I won't be going back.

  • Sara S.

Their food (even lunch prices) are pretty expensive for Mexican food. I had a taco salad (base price is $13) and "upgraded" to beef fajita meat (extra $3). So my $16 SALAD consisted of shredded lettuce - the low end kind you get on tacos, cheddar cheese, pico, guac, sour cream, and maybe 3/4 cup of beef fajita meat. NOT WORTH IT! This is a $9 salad at best. Lots of people rave about their beef fajita meat and I found it to be extremely salty/over seasoned and dry. The charro beans you get with chips are excellent. I don't think this place is worth the price unless they have something you really enjoy.

  • Tom L.

This was surprisingly a let down for me. Many of the menu items sounded very good so we were excited. My carnitas tacos were spicy, but virtually filled with all lettuce. The spinach and artichoke enchiladas were too thick (mostly flour) and the cheese tasted like Velveeta. The fajitas looked good but were only available for multiple people. Drinks were fairly priced but the pina colada I tried had virtually no alcohol. Although it was my first trip, I think I'll stick with Chuy's.

  • Priscilla B.

This is my favorite tex mex restaurant! I always get half shrimp with a skinny margarita and share the other half with my husband and he gets half fajitas. The beans and rice are good and so is the service.

    (5)
  • Alison H.

The food was horrible and I will not be visiting this restaurant again a waste of my money the waitress was awesome that is the only plus of this visit the manager did visit our table and apologize for the way our food was prepared

When I want Fajitas, Lupe is almost always my first choice. Best flavor out there! This Pearland location has been pretty consistently good since opening. Only four stars because the occasional server who is not up to par. Food is almost always on spot!

  • Pam J.

Best Mexican food in Pearland. It is a bit more expensive but worth it and the bar is awesome too!

    (5)
  • Melissa W.

I stop here when I'm in pearland for business. I like the patio atmosphere for some casual happy hour meetings. I love the tortillas. I usually order the beef fajitas or carne asada. Both are good. The salsa is not my favorite but ok. It's a regular stop for me, will be back again.

    (4)
  • B B.

Over priced for so-so food. Salsa and guacamole is good. Margarita was good. Food just mediocre.

    (2)
  • Roland f.

You can call this restaurant a Papasito's wana B but not even close, Tried the mix grill trio of their supposed to be famous carne asada ,chicken and shrimp, the carne asada was well done and all U can taste is the marinate, chicken was dry, and Oooh the shrimp was real salty and over cooked. Service was real good thanks to Corin for taking care of our group of eight.

  • Aly A.

Love this place. Amazing food that never disappoints and s great bar staff. The girl bartender that's short is super cool. She's always so nice to us and attentive. Love making nachos with the beans and queso! And the margaritas are always perfect!

We decided to try this place after going to Gringos and deciding not to wait after they had a electrical outage. Ad we entered the restaurant was maybe a little over half full. We were told it would be a 10 minute wait (Even though there were plenty of open tables) I'm guessing they may have been shirt on servers. They push their fajitas here, they say they are famous for them. So, after we received our chips and salsa (nothing to rave about) I ordered the fajitas. They charge over $20.00 for a half pound, so I was expecting a delicious meal. My fajitas came out, still sizzling. The meat itself was decent, although I found it a little bland as far as taste is concerned. It certainly didn't look like a half pound either. They didn't put enough onions with it, and two slivers of bell peppers was a little disappointing. The tortillas were huge and actually pretty good. The small spoonful of sour cream, pico and guacamole was barely enough for one fajita. The service itself was friendly, but a little slow. My final impression of this place is a average restaurant at best with a overpriced menu. For that, a below average review. I won't ve back. I'll stick to Gringos just a few minutes down the road.

    (2)
  • Valarie T.

Food is far from authentic, but it is good. I think their menu could be better. I may or may not go back. Service is good. Wait time is usually long.

    (3)
  • Sara B.

I waited on hold for almost 10 minutes, and never got through to place a "To Go" order. I got tired of waiting so I hung up and placed an order elsewhere.

    (1)
  • Wajida A.

Worst tex max place in Houston no doubt. Save yourself and go to gringos which is in the same area. Chips were stale, salsa sub par. Ordered the fajitas & they def didn't look 1/2 lb, looked a lot less, they burnt the fajitas, the rice was cold, the tortillas were lukewarm and huge. Such a disappointment.

    (2)
  • Dawn C.

Best fajitas ever!!!!! Sometimes there is a little wait, but worth it. I absolutely can't say enough about the beef fajitas, and you can't pass up a margarita to go with them! Surprisingly enough I really love their flan dessert as well. Yummy!

    (4)
  • Lauren P.

The Grapefruit Ritas = WONDERFUL! Everything else = A lesser version of Pappasito's and yet more expensive . . .

OK, I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, but my spouse was in the mood for a margarita and I was in the mood for chips and salsa and Lupe's was nearby. Upon entering the place, you immediately know the LT has a strong focus on customer service and atmosphere. The staff are prompt and professional, with absolutely zero hiccups in the service aspects of the business. As far as the food aspects? Well, I'm going to come off as snobbish and cheap. LP is listed here on yelp as Mexican food, but their menu boasts their comida as being Texas Tex-Mex. In that, I agree: it's hardly even Tex-Mex. So the wife and I have a seat and began the peruse the menu. We are given chips and salsa. 2 types of salsa, one being the classic red, and the other being a bean-like mixture that I think is actually churro beans. Whatever it is, it's nice, and the salsa is quite fresh and spicy. I order shrimp and poblano enchiladas and the wife orders green chicken enchiladas. Both orders come out in a timely manner. Wife's enchiladas are well prepared. But my dish tastes odd to me, but my wife thinks it's fine. I think I have extra bitter tasters on my tongue and some dishes end up tasting weird to me. But it's ok, not as savory as I hoped a shrimp dish would be. Overall, the value for money is poor. You are paying quite a bit for enchiladas. 2 Enchilada dishes and 2 margaritas come to 43 dollars. I can go to a mom-and-pop place and get better enchiladas for half the price. Overall, I would normally review LT a 2 star. Being as the service was impeccable, I'm bumping up the review 1 star. Not a bad place to go, but you are paying extra for the ambiance.

Great deal on the fajitas for 2. Had chicken and beef and jalapeño sausage. Fantastic for the price.

  • Laura E.

This was my first time at this particular location and I had great service and a delicious tilapia dish. My server was Jose I think and he was great, very friendly, knowledgable about the menu and recommended my dish to me which was very good. I'll def be back soon.

    (5)
  • Jeremy G.

I really want this restaurant to be good. Pearland needs good Tex Mex in such a bad way. But every time I eat here I wonder why I gave them another chance. First off their salsa is not salsa. It's borracho beans and pico de gallo. Why am I dipping chips in borracho beans? Now their food is ok but is not nearly as good as other Tex Mex in the Houston area.

    (2)
  • A. F.

Ghetto!!!! Roaches, running out of glasses and silverware, terrible customer service. I've gotten bad service, dirty silverware, seen roaches, and had to return my food on more than one occasion. I don't recommend them. I've seen the management argue with the servers as well.

Good food went here on my one year anniversary! Only down fall is how pricy it can be on your wallet.... Margaritas are way to over priced...

The beef fajitas are by far the best that I have ever had! You will not be disappointed!

The guacamole was made fresh by the server right in front of us, and it was delicious! Entrees were ok, but Gringos was better.

    (3)
  • Mike B.

The food is ok. Not the best or the worst. The service was decent, but the price it to high. Id prefer gringos prices and atmosphere to this place

  • Larry W.

Please hurry up and go out of business so that a restaurant that caters to customers can take your spot. If you are looking for a table at Lupe Tortilla, bring your own server because they are always under staffed. They will only seat about half of the restaurant because they don't have enough servers, and the patio is always closed. They always have a "private party" out there. Those people seem to be invisible. Just give it up Lupe and let someone have your building and make a great restaurant. You don't have the customer service skills to pull it off.

    (1)
  • Christopher B.

Told them about my wife's tomato allergy and that went out of there way to make sure that every thing was on the side the cook came out twice to make sure that everything was ok the waitress even had some guacamole made up without tomato without asking awesome people awesome food

    (5)
  • Mark M.

I've only been to Lupe Tortilla twice before and I am happy that I chose this place again. As we were walking in, my friend commented on how the Sugarland location always has the best customer service and apparently the same holds true for this location. Our server Jose was great at his job and did his best to make us feel welcome. There were four of us and we all have our "things" and I was hoping that he would be able to keep up. He did so without issue and brought us our drinks and salsa very quickly. I had the Big Sucker burrito which was great and my friends had the tilapia veracruz. They had no complaints and commented favorably about the taste. I ordered the barbacoa tacos to-go and they looked great. I tasted them and they were very flavorful. If Yelp had 4.5 stars, I would give it but they don't so I'll have to settle for a 4-star.

One of our favorite Mexican places to eat. Expensive but worth it! Miller Lite Micheladas are the best. Salsa is made fresh daily. The Beef Fajitas are the bomb.

    (5)
  • Tom M.

Hands down best fajitas anywhere. Fork tender and full of flavor. Chips and salsa or beans are awesome I have never had a bad meal here and the staff are super friendly .

    (5)
  • Ethan N.

I'm probably not qualified to judge because I usually don't eat Mexican, but this place was good for a average person like me. :)

  • CJ C.

Came here to grab some To-Go food during happy hour and the bar was full. We sat a table at the bar just to grab an order. We waited patiently to get service and no one came. A waitress named Chris "Azucar" noticed we had not been waited on. She waited on our table and got us out To-Go order and was extremely happy and courteous. I would highly recommend requesting her if you want tremendous service. Turned a negative into a positive.

    (5)
  • Kathy G.

Unfortunate unable to taste the food. The wait was over one hour, when we were told initially it would be 30 minutes. Bus staff doing more socializing than cleaning tables. Check in girls seemed to have little control. There were empty tables, but not one for us. Frustrating! Checked after another 30 min and were told we were next and were cleaning tables. Thirty minutes later still cleaning tables. Who's watching the employees?? We couldn't stomach eating the food after a miserable experience "waiting"!

    (1)
  • Trista S.

I Love Lupe Tortilla's food! The food is delicious and fresh! The service is also great! If there is a wait, it goes very quickly. The only area of concern I see is the Rest Rooms. They need to be checked often, because people throw paper everywhere and there is a sewer smell in the bathroom.

    (4)
  • Carrie P.

I keep trying to give this place a chance, and I am not sure why. My waitress has ignored me and I threatened to leave due to time constraints. The last time I came my order was screwed up. I don't hold out hope, and the table beside me was also complaining about poor service and food service. I don't know why so many people come here, but this was the last straw for me.

  • Ben O.

I'm torn about this Lupe, in one hand I go here enough that one particular bartender remembers me enough to know I like sliced lemons with my chips and salsa and that I like to drink modelo. On the other hand the food has been so so, even had to send back an entrée or two. The chips, salsa and beans are always great and sometimes I just eat that with queso. I can say that I have had the chef come out to apologize and offer to make something else and have had a manager do the same, I cant blame management because they do address issues, except one thing. Obviously I tend to sit at the bar because on a busy night the place is packed. What really makes me mad is when I come in to order my fav chili con queso with ground beef and a beer at the bar on a busy night, the bar is full of people just standing around drinking, not even sitting. They crowd the bar so tightly that people sitting look like sardines squeezed in a can. I came in with a friend from New York one evening and we stood at the bar waiting for a seat for about thirty minutes. We would not have had to wait had the bartender enforced the rule of patrons must be 21 to sit at the bar. There was a kid about 6 years old with her parents at the bar and they were just sitting there. People were also just sitting at the bar with seats turned around to talk to their friends. Why can management not enforce a policy to leave the bar area open for people that actually want to sit at the bar. If you are seating in the main restaurant area and are waiting for a table, get a beer then go stand somewhere else and wait for your table. The bar staff is literally running circles trying their best to keep up with demand while others that want to sit at the bar have to suffer. How about this, set up a beer well outside so people that are waiting can stop crowding the waiting area and bar inside. I also feel the over hyped fajitas are equally overpriced. I don't know, seems I am all over the place.

  • Jim M.

Best fajitas around town... My only complaint is that the fajitas are inconstant at this particular location...

    (4)
  • Lizzy G.

My husband and I have been fans of Lupe for years. Having recently moved to Pearland, we were pleased to find this location. We have been here a handful of times and never leave disappointed. You absolutely have to order the beef fajitas, but we also like the enchiladas, carne asada, and puffy tacos. Chips, beans and salsa to start are always hot and fresh, and the margaritas are also solid. No complaints about the service either, on our most recent occasion our waiter had a 12 top but still didn't miss a beat. If you haven't tried this place you are really missing out!

    (5)
  • Trey M.

They served my children completely raw chicken strips. Thank god I cut them up before serving them. It is inexcusable. Children can be killed eating raw chicken! They did take off the 9.90 for the bad chicken.

    (1)
  • Amy K.

I returned for lunch the next day, and the food and staff were all still great. However, it does take a long time to get food here. We waited for about 30 minutes for food to actually arrive at our tables. The waitress was either really busy or simply hard to locate. If you're in a rush, tell them once you sit down.

I get it...people like Lupe Tortilla. I just don't get why, with so many other restaurants open on a Saturday night, everyone chooses to pile into this one chain establishment? I was invited to a night out with another couple who had been dying for some of Lupe's fajitas. I have had them once before and didn't think they were that great...but either way, I decided to entertain the other couple's desires. We decided to meet at Lupe's at 745PM and found the restaurant absolutely packed!!! There is no other restaurant even close to being as packed as Lupe's, except for maybe BJ's. Honestly, I think some more forethought could have gone into the planning of this establishment. If people really LOVE Lupe's the way Saturday night would seem to indicate, then why not make the restaurant bigger, so it can accomodate more people? Either way we were told the wait would be 45 minutes, after which the hostess decided to completely ignore me and not even take my name. I guess the look of shock on my face gave her the impression that I wasn't starving, even though it was 745PM. After that, I decided to leave since my hard earned cash was not good enough...I guess they had enough customers for the night to justify their existence. Either way, I know the food is palatable at Lupe's, and probably deserves a higher rating. But honestly, there is good Tex-Mex to be found almost anywhere in Pearland...and for sure in Houston. With a 45 minute wait, heck, I could possibly even be in Mexico from Houston by that time!!!

  • Lori H.

I would have given 5 Stars, but I'm kinda P.O'ed that they have a 10percent charge for to go orders. The Bartender was really nice when he took my order. i would have tipped him more then 90 cents, but since Lupe insisted on it...OK. The Flatuas I ordered were great. Hot and crispy. Good beans, good Chile con queso, and hot Sauce. Rice was a tad dry. I wet them with the Awesome Salsa. They gave me a Big Bag of Chips to go.....that's a plus. Anyways....i'll be back to take the Fam....when the Hoppla about the place dies down.

  • Ally C.

I had their grilled chicken breast with cilantro , cheese, and jalapeño peepers on top - it was one of their best dishes the chicken was so moist and juicy !! Very excellent ! Happy to have this place in Pearland !!

    (5)
  • G F.

The fajitas here are the best I've found. Everything else is on par with other Tex mex places. Portion wise, this place is pretty expensive for what you get, so unless you are going specifically for the fajitas, I would recommend gringos instead.

    (4)
  • Michael M.

Love the food. Had to have been understaffed today. Got our order wrong and took 45 min to get our food. Fajitas never disappoint.

The beef quesadillas are flavorful. The shrimp and avocado cocktail was a little too sweet.

Lupe is a chain but seriously one of my top picks for Mexican in Houston. That's saying any awful lot. 3 Pepper Steak is awesome.

We love eating at Lupe's! The fajitas are excellent - so fresh!! We love the extra large freshly made tortillas. Also the enchiladas are great. The staff is SO friendly - its great to eat in a restaurant where everyone works together to ensure that you have a GREAT experience. The bar is fun for singles and the restaurant is very fun for kids - they treat my kids like real people, not like an annoyance. We always have a great time and if anything isn't perfect they fix it immediately. We have good service with all the waitstaff but especially Chris, Eliud, Barney, and Jason, and the managers (Barney, Sammy, Josh and Rahmann) are terrific too - always check in to see we have a great time. We highly recommend Lupe's in Pearland and probably eat here every week!! Es preety good!! Oh and when Eliud is at the bar, you definitely need to have a margarita!! (or two or three!!)

I've eaten at Lupe a couple of times and everytime I have been impressed. The service is good and the food is pretty tasty too. It's hard to believe that this place is a chain given how good the food is. I will definitely be going back.

Seeing as in i have the best mexican food cook at home its not easy for me to say "mexican" or tex-mex food is good. But they offer great choices. Their queso fundido is amazing! If you go for happy hour the margaritas on the rocks rock. The staff is great. Took a coworker for lunch and seeing as it was her first time they brought out a sample taco. My experiences here have always been great.

Frank from Puebla, MX was our server - Slow start but got better. Ordered the Grandioso Fajita plate for 4 - Very Good. Complimentary flan made up for the slow start. We'll be back.

There was no wait to get seated. Our linen napkins were very damp. Our waitress was horrible. After about 10 minutes of waiting for our queso appetizer, we found out that they were out of chips. It took almost an hour to get our food. I guess the food was good. Either that or we were just so hungry by the time we got it.

Let me start this by saying I have no problem with Lupe Tortilla, in fact I quite like the food despite it being a chain. But I'm hesitant to give it any more than 3 stars because from the times we've been, I've noticed some things I'm not real into...and I'm really afraid the Pearland food-mania train is going to turn this into Gringos-East in terms of ridiculously long 1.5 hour wait times. First off, I've had no real complaints with the food. The queso flameado con chorizo is brutal (don't have your lipid panel run any time soon), the fresh salsa and hot charro beans that come with the chips are 100% booyah (the partner loves the salsa, i love the beans...no competition needed), and the flautas are wicked good (shredded chicken, white cheese, lots of dipping options). However, what's up with the parachute sized tortillas? I get that they're fresh and they taste fantastic...but they're so comically large that you can't really do anything with them without tearing it into a weird, asymmetrical rag instead of making a taco or burrito. I'm really not exaggerating when I say these things are like 15" across. Is there some secret word to order normal human sized ones? If so...message me! The service is on the better side of average, though even when we've gone when there are only 2 other people in the restaurant, it seems really rushed. Not sure what to make of that. Also, if you're the type of diner that's a little off-put by personal managerial check-ins, you might not dig this place. The manager is quite friendly but also omnipresent. That said, they've always been friendly and attentive, but be sure to flag em down if you need something otherwise it might be a minute.

One of my favorite restaurants...their margaritas are to die for, the queso and quesadillas are delicious. They also have one of the best fajita taco salads in town. I never get enough of Lupe, I could come here every day!

I like the old Lupe Tortilla over on I-10 and Highway 6. But today we went to the one in Pearland. Service was terribly slow. After 30 minutes, the hostess apologized to us for how long it was taking. Then the waitress came by and did the same. After 20 more minutes with still no dinner, we walked out. The chips and salsa were excellent. Next time, we'll go to Gringo's

I went here for lunch the other day. I was out running errands alone and was starving, so I figured I'd grab a bite at the bar, and this is one of the few mexican places I haven't tried, but gets good reviews. I was very disappointed. It was late afternoon, so it was pretty dead, and staff was at a minimum. What appeared to be a manager was out front trimming some plants, and tooked straight at me, but said nothing. When I walked in, same thing. There was a hostess and a couple servers up front, but no greeting was offered. I went and sat at the bar, which had one other person sitting at it and no bartender. There was one other table sitting in the bar area and one outside. The bartender was also waiting on them. After about 5 minutes she comes around the corner and says she will be right with me. Another 5 minutes after that, she finally comes back behind the bar. I get a water, she brings me chips and salsa. The red salsa was good but super spicy, which is ok, but I'm glad I have my water. The other salsa is a cup of hot beans- like charro beans. it tastes good but seems a bit odd- if my meal is coming with beans why would I want beans at the beginning? But the chips- totally stale! Not good at all. While I am looking at the menu, the bartender starts yelling loudly at the busboy- not plesant. I order one cheese and one beef enchilada. It comes out quickly, but I can't eat it because I have no silverware and the bartender is now busy talking to one of her friends at the end of the bar. They are talking loudly, and I am getting a play-by -play of how the bartender wants to kick her roommate out but he wont leave and all he does is sit around and smoke pot and eat her kids cereal and drink her bottled water. Seriously?! I need some silverware, and this girl is too busy bitching to notice...and she is really starting to annoy me at this point- I don't want to know about her problems, honestly...I'm trying to have a quiet meal and watch the TPC. So she finally breaks away and asks me if I need anything...I'm like, uh, silverware? Also her friend ordered a cocktail and goes "You arent ringing that up are you?" She laughed and said "uh, no" . When I finally get to eat, it is another disapointment. the red sauce on the enchiladas is greasy and nasty and the rice is crunchy and old, plus no flavor. I thought that this place was insanely pricey as well...19 bucks for beef fajitas seems really steep to me. If I ever come back here, it will be reluctantly...I have had better experiences at Las Rosas, Don Pico's and Gringos. With so many choices why take the chance of another pricey, bad meal and terrible service?

Very nice, good food and we had a sweet attentive server. Loved the spicy salsa and chips! They were busy for a Saturday afternoon and couldn't seat us due to lack of servers, but when we were seated it was very pleasant! Everyone enjoyed their food! Yum!

This one a only a few chain restaurants that I actually like and living in Pearland, this is one of the go to places. Their margarita's are top shelf and very very smooth. All the meat fajitas are lime infused which is why I like this place. Also we love super spicy food and at the table they have habanero sauce which we add to their salsa and everything else to make it perfect! Kids love the place too, their meals include ice cream which makes the kiddos happy and when the kids are happy we are too because that means we get to eat our meal in peace!

Hallelujah! Since moving to Pearland in April 2007, I've been sorely disappointed with the Tex-Mex offerings. About a month ago, I noticed a sign that Lupe Tortilla would be opening soon in the former On The Border location at FM518 & 288. I nearly wrecked when I saw the "Coming Soon" sign, so when I noticed it lit up last night as I was leaving Best Buy, I had to investigate. Could it already be open? Why has there been no news? Why, worst of all, does the corporate website not even LIST this location? I quickly parked in front, saw folks coming and going and rushed in through the front door. When did you open? I asked the hostess. Monday, she replied. Well praise the Lord and pass the fajitas. Since I was on my way home, I decided to get a to-go order. Went to the bar, where Darryl took great care of me. 1 beer and some chips later, I was out the door, salivating over the goodness of Lupe's beef fajitas. At home, I had to slightly warm them up, as they cooled off on the trip to the casa. Nevertheless, they were tasty and had the same lime-marinated flavor of every Lupe Tortilla in town. I had thought I would eat about 1/2 of the order, with the rest going into the fridge for leftovers tonight. How foolish of me to think that! I wiped out the whole pound of fajitas in nothing flat, including the condiments. The included bag of chips, salsa, and beans were put away for tonight, as I'd already stuffed myself silly (including a few of the chips with some of that great guacamole!) It just doesn't get any better than this. Between Lupe's opening and the opening-soon Popeyes, I'm going to have to spend a good 1 hour on the treadmill every day just to keep from gaining any weight!

Okay, to start - let me say that I have eaten a lot at Lupe in West Houston and Lupe on 59/Kirby and also eat a couple times a month during work at the Lupe in Sugarland....so I am a fan of the food. So, now that Lupe took over the old On the Border location in Pearland, where I actually live, I was pretty psyched. Went to lunch today and while it was doing a brisk business there were open tables. There were 2 of us, we were seated and it took a while for anyone to show up, then a guy came and took our drink order but told us he was not our waiter. Our waiter showed up to take our order but the drinks hadn't made it to the table yet at all, so we asked to wait. He came back and we ordered a taco salad and tortilla soup. It took forever to come out. The waiter actually did stop by to tell us the kitchen was getting backed up and the food was going to be a while....what?? How long could it take to do a taco salad and soup? Never happened at Lupe before. Glad I wasn't working or I'd never made it back to work. Eventually the food came and for the first time ever at a Lupe location, I was like 'eh'. No seasoning at all on either dish. I don't know what the problem was. Anyway, we were just going to let it all go and go back to some of our other local favorite Mexican restaurants in the future....but the waiter brought comment cards to us with the check (which was another issue because when we asked for the check, we said we wanted separate checks...no big deal for 2 diners, right? But for the waiter it was....he left, came back like 5 minutes later and told us it would be a while because in order to split the check he needed the manager to authorize him splitting the check....never heard that one before). Anyway, we were sitting filling out the comment cards and the manager actually comes up and starts reading them right there at our table and engaging us in a conversation, which was strange, but I said "what's up with the kitchen" and he goes into a long explanation of not being able to gauge how busy it was going to be....blah, blah, blah...I mean, sorry but your customer doesn't really care - and then I mentioned that in our area there is alot of competition on the Mexican front - Gringos, Don Picos, Los Cucos....so your service has to be 'on' or people will just go elsewhere. I told him I frequent Los Cucos and he said "well, it's cheap and poorly done Mexican food, so I guess if that's what you like (so something close to that)", which was a cheap shot at both Los Cucos (who do some mean traditional Mexican dishes and what I consider decent tex mex) and me, personally, for dining there. So, in review, the food was unusually disappointing for a Lupe, the service/kitchen were slow, slow for a lunch, and the manager was not helping the situation. Lupe, take notice or you will be closing that location in less than a year.

Once we got over the initial shock of how strong the lime in the beef is, it became our favorite. Outside skirt makes for awesome fajitas. The beans are good, the rice is fine and the tortillas are great.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
