Oh my, everything from the fresh chips, to the homemade tortillas, to the tortilla soup, and the excellent enchiladas, this was was soooooo good! We are thrilled that we came and will be back again! Great Mexican food! Great service! So happy we are!

Had the Weekly special. Consist of one beef enchilada, chalupa, beans, rice and Iced tea. $795. Very fresh and homemade tasting. Spotlessly clean. A pleasant surprise.

One of my favorite local restaurants! The staff is super friendly and the food is delicious! I especially love their chips & queso. The chips aren't salty like most places and the queso is so tasty! I usually order the special of the week...today was the chicken flauta plate. Super filling and only $7.25! I can't wait to wake up early enough to try breakfast here!

My Enchilada plate was cheap ($7.50) and everything tasted really good. Not much is better than cheap food that is very tasty. Highly recommend this place and I wish there was one near me. Will eat there again if I come back to Buda.

When I saw that overall reviews were 4 stars out of 5 it lead me to think this was something special. Still, several reviewers included the word bland. We tried it out for ourselves and found the restaurant to have a lovely location, terrific outdoor seating, decent service but overall the food WAS bland. The exception to this would be the tortilla chips, queso and beans. The main plates such as fajitas, enchiladas and nachos are attractively plated, are good sized portions but there is nothing that makes you wish you had a second helping. Don't need to go back.

We have been going to Garcias since the week we moved to Buda and it had been our go to place for 8 years. The last time we went in they had made changes that just didn't sit well with us. They had increased the prices drastically and decreased sizes of the ever popular chip bowl and charged for refills of it. We can understand increases but when it seems your bill doubles from the last time you go in, it seems a bit of a drastic change.

I was really excited to try this restaurant after seeing the reviews on Yelp, but after my experience I really wish I didn't. I am currently sitting at my table while writing this. The service was less than mediocre. We ordered, and two of our three orders were incorrect. When we asked the server to correct the orders she was visibly annoyed. Aside from the two orders being incorrect, I ordered the chicken burrito- no beans, double rice on the side. No where on the menu does it say there are beans in the burrito. But when I got the burrito it was loaded with beans inside. Just my opinion, it would be helpful for the server to say "oh, you don't want beans on the side? There are beans inside the burrito as well. Would you like those removed also?" I guess that is too much effort. Furthermore, the food was also not impressive. All three plates lacked flavor. One of us ordered the fajitas but without beans and rice on the side (just wanted the meat/veggies, tortillas, lettuce/tomato/guac that comes on the side). On the bill we were charged for side of guac, side of pico (LOL!), side of jalapeños, and two sides of meat. It ended up costing more than if we just left the beans and rice on the side. Rocket science, I guess! I wouldn't waste your time coming here.

Archie Bunker is in love w/the Menudo, and I (edith) can't have enough of the chips/salsa..great svc..great food..Priceless..

I like their nachos, tacos, and chips and Queso. Other than that this place isn't really anything special, it's very crowded, and a lot of their food is bland... When I first moved to Texas this place got a lot of hype, which I believe is part of the let down. Not to mention the staff is rude.

  • Shauna R.

I waited 45 minutes for two tacos to go this morning. One of the tacos I ordered was a migas taco. When I finally got it, the migas had absolutely NO pico, tomatoes, jalapeños........NOTHING!!! It had egg and tortilla chips. It sucked. Since the order was to go, there wasn't much I could do about it. As a Mexican food restaurant, how in the world do you screw up a migas taco?!?!?!? Definitely won't be returning.

I love this place! Great food. Great service! Prices good too. Best cheese enchiladas I have ever had!

  • Kevin B.

Best Chili Rellanos in Texas! Awesome chips too!!!!! Prices are pretty reasonable and they have a very nice outdoor patio. It's also BYOB so bring a six pack and get ready for a great Mexican meal! ¡¡¡Vamos!!!

This was my second visit to Garcia's. It is in Buda surrounded by the old town. I was excited to dine here again as I had enjoyed my original trip. I love love the chips and the salsa was just the right amount heat for this Texas girl. I got the special with tamale and sour cream enchilada-- nothing special just ok. My mate got chiles relleno. Not too good at all. Tasted like frozen Resturant food. We won't be going back again.

This place is very reasonably priced and the food is delicious. I like the menudo. The service is always great here as well. Small dining room make for an intimate setting and with only about 10 tables you don't get lost and forgotten by your wait staff.

    (5)
  • Stephen S.

Bad service. Sat for almost 10 minutes before we were acknowledged or given water. Slow all night. Mediocre food. Wish we had driven a few minutes further the other way for better food.

Ya know. At first I wasn't too crazy about this place. Seemed I dunno....Under par compared to Helens and Chavelos. Being from San Angelo I have a certain expectation for breakfast. Environment. Menu cost. Wait staff knowledgeable and friendly. Coffee better be good and hot. And the salsa better be free with fresh hot poofy tortilla chips. Garcias does all these superbly in my book. The ranchero papas are a MUST with every meal. The last time I knew someone to make em this good was when my grandmother was still alive. Their Migas, huevos rancheros, carne guisada, and tortilla soup, are all musts here! Oh man and their pancakes will butter you up. Best pancakes at any Mexican restaurant west of I-35 hands down. And they have a perfect patio to sit outdoors and enjoy the nice Clean Buda air. Not sure if anyone reading this knows what Julios Salsa is. If you're from West Texas you definitely know Julios salsa. I promise you, (go see for yourself) that the salsa here is pretty damn close to the Julios Salsa. Hit me up anytime and I'll join you here at this restaurant for breakfast. It's that good!!

I used yelp to help me find a restaurant in Buda Texas, of course I chose the higher rated one. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was the cleanliness of this place.. But most important... The food. Awesome !! I got the migas and it was fresh and tasty.. They obviously use the right amount of spices. Will I come back ? Yes

Dinner is always a delite at Garcia's. Tonite I had the Nachos Supreme with a side of their awesome pico de gallo. It is so nice to have a place to go that has consistantly good food. The staff is so friendly and really makes you feel at home. When I need some good comfort food I head to Garcia's.

Visit here all the time as it is nearby to my home. Food has been consistent and staff has always provided reliable competent service, which is all a customer can ask for.

I stumbled onto this place when my relatives came to visit. I'm so glad I did. Minnesota Uncles and Aunts and I loved the food. It's hard to please this many people and you did it! I really liked the simple decor inside and out. Great food. Very friendly staff. Very clean and bright. Decent proportions. And low prices. What more could you want?

Garcia's has been a fixture in Buda for many years. Located on Main St in the historic district, it is small place that almost always has a line. There is a reason for the line. The food is great with homemade tortillas and strawberry lemonade being on the must have list. We've eaten here many times and have never been disappointed. If you're in Buda, be sure and give this a try. There are two other great Mexican places as well, Chavelo's (my current favorite), and Casa Alde. All of these are great and the food will not disappoint.

Atmosphere and Cleanliness : Down town Buda...building a bit run down, but it was clean...has a tad of that "dive" look. Was getting busy when we left... Service: Service was great. As they did get busy, the staff picked up the pace...I could tell they had some locals in the house by the way the staff greeted them...good to see....Oh and Irma S...great job..thanks.. Food: Chips, we thin and crispy AND warm...they stood out as probably the BEST chip we have had....Salsa was tasty...Queso was a little runny, but full of flavor...(a little more spice for us, just us) Wife had the Los Tres Garcia's....smothered in Queso...I had the Combo Plate...BEANS...good...rice had flavor (were used to standard Mexican Rice, finally...we may have been bit harsh on some reviews concerning rice)...Its was fresh and moist...Tortillas were the first good tortillas we have found in a while... Worth the Adventure: Oh yea...they have 4 locations...and we do travel...just a bit...Until the next Adventure...Peace out...

I've been here at least 5 times now and I love it. Definitely my favorite no-frills, fresh, friendly (downright neighborly) place. Today for breakfast I tried the beef fajitas norteñas taco and, well, they pretty much knocked it out of the park. So good! Pretty decent size serving too. I almost ordered two, but I'm glad I didn't. it would've been too much food. Fresh flavorful tortilla, with juicy strips of beef, eggs, cheddar cheese, jalapeños, tomatoes, and onions. Do yourself a favor, and order a side of their ranchero sauce for it and enjoy! You really won't regret it!

We love the migas and salsa at Garcia's. They have the best! The service was excellent!

    (5)
  • Kevin E.

I REALLY enjoy the food at Garcia's and have always been pleased with the service. Almost everything is affordably priced (except queso) and they have a pretty efficient to-go service (don't like having to pay extra for to-go though). The two real reasons that I didn't rate it 5-stars is because they don't have margaritas and it is really loud inside. Not sure how to fix that, but I do use take-out more because of it. Overall, it's worth going!!

  • Caroline S.

My husband and I love this place. We go here at least once a month if not more often. It is small and there can be a wait on Friday and Saturday nights - but it is worth it. The portions are good sized and inexpensive (hubby and I can get two meals for about $17.00). We suggest the Combo - you get a taco, enchilada, tostada with rice and beans. The food flavor is fantastic and the waitstaff is very friendly and quick. You also get an extra tortilla with your meal - get the flour ones because they make them there. Delicious! It is not a fancy, smanshy restaurant but it is homey and comfortable. We have been to the other two Mexican restaurants in the same mile radius as Garcias, but they do not measure up at all in our opinion.

  • Jennifer B.

Not worth the trip, food very bland, no flavor. I would not return.

  • Jason H.

This place is a hidden gem. Food is amazing wait staff is great and it is the best kept secret in Texas. The location could be a little but larger but isn't bad. Food is really good I recommend the chicken tortilla soup. The portions are generous and you will leave with a full belly. Park across the street. It is located in the middle of town so if you want to walk off what you ate there is some sight seeing you can do.

  • Raider R.

Great service, love the facility, which appears to be a old house made into a restaurant. Food however, out of a can sauces. Salsa tasted fresh. Have had better frozen mexican dinners from the frozen food isle.

    (2)
  • Steve B.

Nice off the beaten path restaurant that is well worth the trip. We went last night for a late dinner. Wait was minimal and service was outstanding. The wait staff made sure the chips & salsa never ran out. You can't go wrong eating at Garcias. I still prefer the original, but this one is very good. This is the 4th one we have eaten at, and we are well on the way to eating at all of them.

  • Stephen H.

Great little Mexican restaurant. Highly recommend their chicken tortilla soup... it's the best I've ever had. Their breakfast tacos are also really good.

    (5)
  • Jamie S.

Food is okay but the service was good. If you want some cheap mexican food, then stop by and check it out. The rice wasnt very flavorful, the beans tasted like straight from a can and the taco beef was too finely ground. Chavelos is a better option and it's right around the corner.

    (3)
  • Jacob R.

Great reviews on here which made me try it out, being from out of town. Wasn't impressed very much at all, just a very average Mexican place that is just ok. Clean environment and good service. Just unimpressed because I was expecting more based on what I read in here prior. If I could do 2.5 stars I would.

I went in for breakfast. It is a small place and feels like it used to be a house that they renovated ; nice atmosphere. It took them awhile to acknowledge us when we came in but the service was very attentive once they did. Good chips, salsa and queso. We enjoyed our meal.

  • C C.

My boyfriend and I tried this place out as it's close by and it would be great to find a good Mexican restaurant. The place feels down to earth and the service was friendly. I appreciated that. The food was just okay though. Pretty bland and the queso was disappointing as it appeared to be just melted Velveeta. Overall I'd probably go back, but will be looking for a better place to eat in the meantime.

  • Rick H.

I came here because of all the great reviews, but I don't understand them. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast. The steak looked like a frozen Costco patty out of the box. The fried potatoes were just standard cubes tossed into a deep fryer. I got charged extra to trade my toast for a pancake. The salsa is watery and tasteless, like tomatoes and a little lemon juice tossed in a blender. The refried beans look runny and "out of the can", and the folks next to me remarked that both the beans and rice were bland and tasteless. The burritos and enchiladas look as though they rely heavily on huge amounts of gloppy cheese. If I ever go back, I'll take my own salsa, and order one of three things that looked somewhat promising; the chicken tortilla soup, the quesadilla, and the carne asada. The staff are nice, and the atmosphere is good (when people aren't letting their brats run amok in the small rooms). Overall, not worth going out of your way for.

This place has delicious food, my husband and I love to go there for breakfast on the weekends!

    (5)
  • Steve s.

The best Mexican food in Buda (and I think the best of the Garcias locations). Salsa is a bit hot - which I like and the Steak Cozumel is awesome. Only complaint is that there aren't many tables, so you have to get there early or plan on waiting for 10 minutes.

    (5)
  • Jeff F.

Good home made Mexican food. The chips and salsa are delicious. Food is never greasy and is always fresh. Excellent service and the prices are great.

    (4)
  • Travis W.

Place was packed when we came in. Clean and friendly staff! Chips were fresh and the salsa was awesome! Got the chicken and mushroom enchiladas and they were unbelievable! Great little hole in the wall in downtown Buda.

    (5)
  • Steve E.

Mediocre food. They looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if there was anything vegetarian. Queso tastes like Velveeta and the chips appear to be fried. Rice had way too much salt (basically inedible) and the chicken fajitas lacked any appreciable amount of grilled veggies. Not the best service. Skip it. And an after note: a day later both my son and I spent 24 hours very ill. No gracias.

    (1)
  • Judy R.

I truly believe they have a secret ingredient added to the food...because I crave their chips, hot sauce, etc at least once a week! This is NOT to be confused with CASA GARCIAS in KYLE. They are 2 differnt menus and prices....to the advantage of Buda's Garcias!

    (5)
  • Elaine A.

The chicken-mushroom enchiladas were OMG. And the salsa was fresh with just the right amount of heat. Can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Daniel C.

The chips, the cornerstone of an excellent TexMex meal, are on point as is the sweet tea. Customer service is consistently top notch and the atmosphere is friendly and clean. The food is, without question, the best around for the price. Great quality!

    (5)
  • Heather W.

This place is cute. I really like the chips and salsa....the chips are crispy and they keep the salsa flowin! The tortilla soup is amazing. It's all I've ever gotten her other than breakfast tacos. I will be going today for the soup......Extra Pico please!

    (4)
  • Jack P.

Best service, best price and best Mexican food hands down. And best of the three Garcia's.

    (5)
  • Lisa C.

Beef fajitas nortenas are delicious!!! The salsa and queso are also quite tasty. It's a little small and can get loud but the food is so good! I'm not a "regular" even though I grew up in Buda but I always get pretty decent service and I try to go when it isn't super busy.

I would like to know, what the heck happened to this place? This USED to be one of the better mexican food restaurants around the Kyle/Buda area. This place had gone way down hill. I walk in to place a to go order. There are about 15 people waiting for tables outside. I am standing at the register for almost 10 minutes. The young hispanic girl asked how many are in my group. I tell her I want to place a to go order. She rings me up and disappears. She was not friendly or professional. She was rude and inconsiderate. She gave away 2 tables to other people who had been waiting less time than a couple who was standing at the register with me. When they mentioned something to her, she laughed like it was their fault. I finally get my food and asked for chips and salsa. She tells it will cost extra. Wow, I can get it for free if I eat in. I pull out my debt card and pay for chips and salsa. We get home and this place does the one thing that drives me crazy about Mexican food restaurants, they use American Cheese. I realize it is much cheaper than Cheddar. It does not taste the same unless you use actual cheddar. The Taco salad was almost like a "taco flower" where the bowl was fanned out. It was not very full at all. I have gotten fuller taco salads at Taco Cabana. The beans were bland and had no flavor. The rice was mediocre at best. I could have made better Mexican rice. The tortillas were not homemade. That is another mark against you. It so much easier to make a tortilla from scratch, rather than use store bought ones. Also, what happened with your salsa? It used to be flavorful. It was more tomato and onion than anything. I knew there was a reason why we had not been back here. To the owner's of Garcias, FIRE the girl working the register. She is clueless and rude. I about walked out and went somewhere else. You food used to be great. Nowadays, you are better off getting mexican food from Taco Bell. Thanks but no thanks. I will not be back. When I get a craving for Mexican food, I will hit the Texcan. It is a little further drive, but their service is awesome, plus their food is great.

I LOVE Garcia's. I fell in love with the San Marcos location during college, but once I discovered the Buda location, I was hooked. I think that because the Buda location is much smaller and does much less volume than the SM location, that they put more love into your food in Buda. The restaurant even feels like home because it pretty much literally is/was. It's SUPER tiny inside, so be prepared for a wait. It's also always chilly, so plan for that too. I do have a complaint about this most recent trip, but don't want to let one bad hostess ruin it for the entire review. I was in with a group of 5 and they attempted to seat 5 adults at a 4-top table. WTF??? Do you really expect us to huddle around a table with someone sitting awkwardly in a corner? After I let my shock and disappointment come out of my mouth, a waitress offered to turn two 4-tops to accommodate us. Thank you, nice waitress. Now please teach your young hostess what hospitality is. Anyway, back to the good. Their tortilla chips are really awesome (I need to learn where to buy them), and I enjoy the salsa. I know there are complaints about it, but it's exactly how I like it. Just the right amount of heat and tomato-ey. My two staples have always been the Garcia's combination plate and the beef fajitas. Both have a ton of food and are a great price. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on their menu, from what I have heard my friends say about their food. Their tea is awesome too. It really comes down to great food at a great price. It's on the list of places I really have to go to when I'm in town.

  • Cris B.

Went there for dinner on a Monday, I got the burrito dish. The staff was nice and quick with the drinks including refills. The food got to us at an incredible speed; less than 10 minutes after order I believe. Which probably explains the blandness of the burrito. My guess is the food sits under a hot lamp, probably even from a can they just open up. There are better Tex-Mex restaurants out there, I think even Baby A's has a better burrito than this place... errr... okay, maybe on par with it.

  • Wes M.

The food was really good. It is a nice place to go for something different. However our service was subpar which made the experience less enjoyable. That being said, I will be back.

  • Meaghan S.

Best tortilla soup in town! I go here about once a week and always have the same thing. I love the tortilla soup. The fajitas nortanes are also wonderful and spicy! I could eat the salsa by the gallon and the prices are very affordable. The only reason for the 4/5 stars is the wait times. I know it is a small place but they have an awesome patio they should utilize.

    (4)
  • Kari G.

I've never had any bad experiences at this Garcia's location! The food is pretty decent for Tex/Mex. I especially enjoy their "Soup Special" and their sweet tea. We usually also get our "regular" waitress who is so nice!

  • Cheryl E.

We went to Gargias at lunchtime on a Sunday, so it was understandably very busy. Put our name on the list by the door. Had to wait for a little bit to get a table, but it was worth it. Our server was quite busy, but never made us feel rushed, was extremely friendly & took fantastic care of us. Perfect sweet tea was always full, chips & salsa kept flowing, and the food didn't take long at all to reach our table. I see why this place is so popular! The chips really are some of the best I have ever had & the salsa was quite good as well. I wish I had tried the queso..next time. We were super excited to see barbacoa tacos on the menu & asked the waitress if they were the real deal..she said yes. If you are a real barbacoa lover you know what this means. And they make it everyday..not just on the weekends. Hooray! They were AWESOME!! Ask for a side of onions & cilantro to go with them. YUM!! I had a combo plate & everything was wonderful. Taco & tostada on the plate were still crispy & delicious...not soggy like most places. Crunchy fresh produce. The cheese enchilada was tasty & so was the tamale. We will most definitely be back. Worth the drive from Austin for some truly good food & service. :)

This restaurant is a transformed, clean little house on Main Street. The waitresses are very attentive and nice. I think that's the best of it. The salsa tastes amazingly like El Paso enchilada sauce meets Chef Boy R Dee from the can. Salsa should be a nice watery mix of chunky tomatoes, onions, peppers, etc, but should never be a homogenous red watered down paste. This was the strangest mix my taste buds have encountered on a chip. Excellent iced tea served in cafeteria style cups large enough to swim in. Perfect for a hot Texas day. My straw kept falling in. The carne guisada is tough, like the kind I make at home because I don't make it well. That's why I go to Mexican restaurants. It's supposed to be like melt-in-your-mouth chunks of pot roast. The gravy was good but the meat was all wrong. The cheese enchiladas were tasty but rolled tiny. They were served fresh and hot and the blend of flavors was nice. I've seen bigger in my day! The tres dulce cake wasn't fresh and was very eggy tasting. The sopapillas were delicious. This is a good place to take the inlaws because the location is excellent and they'll love the atmosphere. They won't know the salsa isn't representative. I prefer the harder-to-find location but better food at Chavello's.

Garcias is my favorite restaurant in buda and one of my favorites in tx. It's a great family place with generally good service, awesome not too spicy salsa and the best quesadillas I have ever tasted. Try the buds soda fountain across the railroad tracks for dessert.

I cannot believe people have anything negative to say about Garcia's in Buda. This is my favorite mexican restaurant and beats any of the chains hands down. I've had mexican food all up an down the I-35 corridor including Dallas, Waco, Temple, Austin and Garcia's has something special here. First, the chips and salsa. I know some people like the salsa chunky, as do I normally, but have you tasted the salsa? It's addicting. Not to mention the homemade chips- you just can't stop eating them! Next, the menu. Between my husband and I, we're tried nearly every item on the menu. My favorite is the Fideo on the Picadillo platter, but I also love the spinach enchiladas, cheese enchiladas, fajitas, tortilla soup, and the fried chicken with queso smoothered on it. We've brought out of town family and friends here and they always want to come back. Some other favorites are the tamales and the always homemade tortillas. One uncle asked the waitress if the tamales would be as good as his mama makes them because he was doubtful of our claim that this was real authentic mexican food. Needless to say, he cleaned his plate and made a point to come back here on his next trip through Buda. If you come here, you can bring your own alcohol. If you choose not to do that, order the tea- they have sweet or unsweet. The cups are huge and the waitresses keep them filled at all times. Then, if you have room at the end order the Tres Leches or the fried cheesecake. So good! Finally, you can't beat the price. We routinely get out of here paying less than $15 for the meal but generally will leave a generous tip since the service is so great. So a nice dinner out for $20 for two people including tax and tip is less then you pay sometimes for take-out or drive thru sometimes.

After reading all the positive things I thought we'd give it a try. Tried the "Los Tres" Enchiladas as suggested. Excellent! This way I was able to try the cheese enchilada - run of the mill, beef enchilada - very rich - could only handle one, and the chicken enchilada with sour cream sauce. That is the fantastic one. I think next time I go, I will get only chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce. They had good chips, salsa was a little warm for me, but I'm a wuss. Homemade tortillas - ok - much better than what you get in the store though. Oddly enough, one thing I really enjoyed was their sweet tea! It was soooo good! It was a little crowded - good sign, however it is a family atmosphere, so don't go here for a quiet night. Nice servers, very sweet. Go check it out!

Very good food and very reasonable prices. Excellent rellano, but ground beef only. A cheese rellano would be great - I hope the owners read this! This was our first trip. We'll be back for sure.

I absolutely love this place!! Great food! Great service! They don't serve booze which is a bit of a bummer! (Mexican food and no margarita's) However, you can bring your own beer!

So my mom was here and we always have to get her some TexMex on her visits... they don't seem to have TexMEx in Florida (who'da thunk it?!). Anyway - for some reason any drive longer than 5 minutes makes older people complain about a "long drive", so we headed on over to Garcia's to have some of above mentioned TexMex. Now, my mom doesn't get good Mexican food, nor TexMex often anymore, so I think that her judgment is failing. She loved this place. I, on the other hand, wasn't as impressed. I did love the chips! They were hot and yummy and certainly not from a large plastic bag. The queso was yummy, as well; creamy and seemed to have a little something "more" added in. I'll be back for that. I ordered the enchilada plate that had 3 different ones on it; cheese, beef and chicken. The sauces were all pretty good. The beef enchilada was really great and I'll order that one again. The chicken seemed dry and completely void of flavor, but the sauce was great. The cheese was a typical cheese enchilada. The rice was really good and I loved it. The beans were a whole other story. They tasted like someone had accidentally added sugar instead of salt. They weren't good at all. They had the look and taste of a can of frijoles that someone had tried to "spruce up" and failed miserably at it. I'm sure I'll give it another try, because some of it was good and I truly want to support mom and pop places over chains any day.

I love Garcia's! The Buda, TX location is very authentic feeling, as it is in a tiny house. I like the feel of this location, and of course the wait staff are great. The food is delicious and the price is right!

Cute little Mexican restaurant in an old house. Serves average Mexican food that is not remarkable but good.

I really want to give 4.5 stars but it won't let me... 4 isn't quite right, so I"m over-rating at 5 stars. We have never had bad food from here. I think we've been here about 8-10 times with family friends over the last two years. The salsa is always slightly different - sometimes too tomato-paste-y for my taste (but Hubby loves it), sometimes too spicy for his taste (by its my fav). But that is part of it's charm because clearly that stuff isn't coming out of some jar. The chips, as another reviewer said, totally addicting. The specials they have are usually an amazing deal (and I think the price almost always includes a drink) while the regular menu prices are cheaper than trying to get that much food from taco b/hell. "Lot of food for a little money" - Hubby. No it's not authentic mexican food, but its pretty darn good Tex Mex (only had dinner here). Chalupas, spinach enchiladas, tacos, carne guisada enchaladas, mexican chicken fried steak all have been great picks. Oh, by the way, the shredded cheese- yeah, that's real cheese, good stuff. The one thing I'm not a fan of is their tortillas that come with the meal, just kinda, eh. Service is always at least okay and sometimes even really really great.

This place is fantastic! Real authentic Mexican food. Great chips, wonderful rice and beans. I had the beef fajita's plate and it was superb. Have eaten here 6 times in 2 weeks. Its amazing. You won't be sorry!

Very simple and tasty Mexican food. Always good. Tortillas are awesome. Wish they would get a liquor license.

OMG, I read all the reviews and was SO looking forward......WORST Mexican food I have EVER had anywhere! Asked if the tamales were home made was told no, but that they were EXCELLENT. It was like eating texture only. Not a flavor to them, masa that tasted like grits, pork filling that was so ground up it was like cat food. My daughter had fajitas and so hot she couldn't eat them; son in law had a beef burrito-- only burrito anyone's ever had that ONLY had meat and nothing else in them. Had 2 flan for dessert and they actually tasted sour. I am SO disappointed. We were so looking forward to a nice dinner. The wait staff was wonderful, the little house is cute as a bug's ear, but the food is absolutely horrible.

Best mexican restaurant in town!! And most definitely the best chips and queso ever!! Service is always great. My friends and I go usually at least once a week and it never gets old!

Unless you're a regular (Buda is a small town), expect to receive mediocre service at best. The food is passable with salty chips from a bag and sickly sweet tea. This location and the Kyle one both have terrible service.

Really good food! I can't say enough good things about it. Also, I don't really care about the wait staff or management of a place as long as the food is good but our waitress and the manager there that helped with our table were 2 of the friendliest people in the restaurant business. Overall, I left very impressed with this place.

I can't believe no one's reviewed Garcia's yet. I love love love their pollo caldo. Must have it with the pico. Large please. With the enchiladas rancheras con pollo for me, and enchiladas garcias for the hubby. The boy loves their beef quesadillas, and the girl can now eat three cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Pro-cheap eats, nice wait staff. Con-no alcohol, parking.

Awesome food! Great Enchildas, their Fajitas with tomatoes and peppers are awesome and their chips and salsa are to die for. I have been every where and this place is one of the best in Central Texas. Love it! We drive from Austin to get there that's how much we love it.

New Young Hostess. Made us wait for 15+ minutes when all the while you could see they had a couple of tables for two open. We asked for one of these, but our request fell on deaf ears. SO... we went to Texican down the road..got right in.

My wife and I are from the valley where there is authentic Mexican food for central Texas, IHMO so far, this is the best you are going to find. Breakfast tacos and fajitas (not the Nortenos) are great. Salsa is great too!

I try these guys out every few years or so. Nothing seems to change. Bland flavors, mild salsa, fake (american) cheese, and bad coffee. I realize that some folks like this, but it's not for me.

I love this place and always have. If you've lived in Kyle a while you should already be eating here. Most of the menu is basic Mexican restaurant fair but its all delicious. The prices have gone up a bit but its still worth it. I highly recommend the Garcia's Chicken Fried Chicken. Its smothered in queso and has avocado slices on it and comes with charro beans. If you feel like a light meal I recommend the tortilla soup. I've always had friendly staff and during busy times the wait can be a little lengthy. Five out of six doctors agree that eating at Garcia's will make your tummy happy.

This is good Mexican food that will satisfy the craving for some old school grub. The menu is relatively standard, with my standard order being the queso, followed by Beef Fajitas Nortenas. I have had the tortilla soup, which is a little pricey, but worth every penny. Small, quaint, and right on Main Street, is a nice atmosphere for the small town eatery. You can bring in your own cold beer as well, which can be purchased two doors down at the Buda Grocery and Market. *****UPDATE***** So we have lived in Buda for about 3 years now, and this place has evolved into a tradition for Thursday night dinner with friends. This place is great, and we still order the same thing every time. We place out order with one word' Yes' to the question of "wll it be the same?" - even for the drinks. Go ahead and visit this place, and shop local.

People are friendly, but the food is average or below. Not terrible, but not good either. I wouldn't take a date here! The best analogy is that someone microwaved mexican TV dinners and put them on a plate. I have eaten at the Lockhart location 4 times (no choice), and at the San Marcos location once. Better than Taco Bell, but not much.

Garcias has some of the best menudo in Buda and most of Austin. The meat is cut small and it's loaded with posole! The seasoning is excellent, which is what makes it YUMMY!!! I usually get it to go, so I don't have to hassle with the parking situation.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
