This place has amazing hibachi. The server was super attentive. We were waiting on friends, and she was patient with us. The cook was extremely entertaining. He made jokes, conversed with us, and did some neat tricks. He did all this while cooking a delicious meal. I ordered a sushi roll that was really good! The sake was strong so I left a little tipsy! Lol! The cook is the reason I'm giving them 5 stars. He really made our experience worth while. Usually when you are watching your food being prepared you may grow impatient because of hunger, but he made the wait worth it! Shout out to Scooby!

Ok this is definitely the best hibachi I found in Nashville! Ask for J.R.!!! Scallops and filet were cooked to perfection!!! The filet pretty much melts in your mouth all I do is add some fresh ground pepper to it... I will definitely be back! I really want to try other things on the menu as well. The soup and seafood egg rolls were very delicious as well!!!

My wife and I love going to hibachi restaurants, and have been to several in the area. We noticed this one when coming out of Kroger about a week ago, and wanted to give it a try. I looked online and found some good reviews so after work on Friday we tried it out. When we arrived there weren't a lot of people, so we were a little concerned but when we were greeted our concern was put to ease. They had friendly service, a good menu and a really nice layout. Our "cook" came over and was very friendly ( we had our 2 year old and he went out of his way to get her name and include her ), the "show" was one of the better I'd seen and the food was great. Seasoned well, and tasted excellent. One of the people at our table ( not in our party ) didn't like onions and they did a great job ensuring she was taken care of. Overall it was a great dinner, and I know we will be back. My only disappointment was how empty it was, part of the experience is the "electricity" of other tables. I had heard the prior restaurant there wasn't good and I know people can be scared to go back again, but I assure you if you like hibachi you will enjoy your time here. On a side note I worked in restaurants for over 18 years and am normally highly critical of service, food and environment....these guys get high marks on all three. Give Oya a chance and I know you'll enjoy it. Plus it would be nice to support a small business owner who took over a project.

Yum!! We ate hibachi style. The restaurant was quiet. The food was delicious. The chef was awesome! I'm not sure why more people don't know about this place. Check them out!!

This would have been a 4-5 star review, but today's experience was not as enjoyable enjoyable. We walked in for an early dinner at 5 so we could have a quick dinner with our toddler and we are the only people there. We order, eat our soups and salad and then right as I think it's time to start the hibachi they sit others at our table who walk in. So that adds another 20 minutes of us waiting for them to order and then eat their soup and salad. This was not fun with an impatient hungry toddler. Regardless of liking the food, this experience alone made me decide that I would rather drive to nippers corner than eat next door.

Had a to go order of the Bento Box Special they gave you plenty of good food for the price. I also got and extra Spicy Crab roll which was excellent just to much food didn't need the extra roll.

Excellent sushi and service! We have dined at Sushi O Sushi for years now and love that Oya is even closer to our home. Our server was very accommodating and even had the sushi chef split our children's order when she noticed that they were no longer sitting next to each other. The seaweed salad was the freshest I've ever tasted and our table full of rolls were perfect. We had a great experience and we will be back!

Oya used to be called Minami in the Kroger shopping center on Nolensville Rd at Concord Rd. Minami was fairly decent for just a nearby hibachi place when you wanted something different without having to go too far, but they are now under new management. The family who owns Sushi O Sushi in Lennox Village bought this place and remodeled it and changed the menu. It has really improved. The sushi is so much fresher and the chef is amazing. We loved him at the other place and we're so glad he's here now. They have a good variety of sushi rolls without being overwhelming, and all the standards, of course. Delicious. The miso soup is great. Before the changeover, it was just broth and some scallions, but Oya's soup definitely has more substance. The new level of quality extends to the hibachi as well. It's not high-dollar hibachi, but it's very good for a little neighborhood restaurant. It's nice to have something so close by that's fun and different. You can order all the hibachi meals at the regular tables in the sushi area as well, and that's nice when you're not in the mood for the show. Highly recommend!

The drinks were overpriced and the food was super salty. The service was good but the kitchen took forever. Our salads were covered, no they were smothered in dressing. The soup was just chicken broth (like the kind in the can) and that was it. We ordered the hibachi dinner and never received our shrimp appetizer that was supposed to come with it. They really just didn't seem to have it together.

This was Minami. It is in the Kroger shopping center near Concord and Nolensville Rd. When I reviewed Minami I commented that they could not stay in business. The new owners have beautifully renovated it. The food was good. The service was very good. I hope that they are very successful!

My wife and i went to the former Japanese Steak House that was located here. It was horrible. Thankfully we went back when the ownership changed and we LOVED it! Atmosphere has improved but even more important, the food has dramatically improved!!

New name, new restaurant! I was excited to check out Oya as I had heard there were new owners running the place. Sure enough, from the interior of the restaurant to the food and the service, I was pleased with everything I saw. I ordered a Sweet Heart roll, which was absolutely divine (and recommended if you are a big tuna fan!). The menu had so many options with informative pictures of each sushi roll. Plus, as someone who enjoys perusing the menu before going to the restaurant, it is available online in its entirety on their website, which I appreciated. My significant other had the Hibachi Filet Mignon. The portions were generous as he consumes a large amount of food and was stuffed by the end of the meal! Tip: be sure to ask for some of their famous YumYum sauce to dip the meat in or mix it with some fried rice! Delicious. All in all, I have eaten at multiple hibachi restaurants in Nashville and was pleasantly surprised to see how affordable Oya's prices are in comparison. Great quality of food, friendly service, and easy on the wallet (well, for the type of food you're eating!). I will definitely be going back!

We were very hesitant to try this restaurant but after reading a few reviews we decided it was worth a try and I'm glad we did! The food is great, the service is awesome, the place is clean. I definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of good, quality food to give this place a try.

The sushi here is great! It's one of the best sushi spots we've found in Nashville since moving down here from Chicago a few years ago. We had the sweet potato roll, spicy tuna roll, hello kitty roll and the sweet heart roll. Each was rolled well, fresh and flavorful. We were impressed with the quality of the fish and also the fairness of the pricing. The owner was present, which I think is always a plus, and they did a great job with the redecorating. We'll definitely be regular customers.
