OK, first off the food here in past visits was not great. About 3 months ago, we decided to give it another try. We were pleasantly surprised! The food is much better. I have always liked their drink specials and now that the food is up to par, we have been going back again and again. The must have gotten a new cook!

Food was okay, service left a lot to be desired. Our waiter disappeared during service. A waitress showed up later, but was disinterested. Took 15 minutes to get our check. Restaurant was was mostly empty. Still looking for that good Nashville mexican restaurant

Not too bad. I asked for ranch dressing and they gave me an empty bottle. Salad was good though.

We tried this because it is close to a new home we purchased. The waitress was not very attentive and our drinks ran out and we kept trying to get her attention and we were ignored. My husband said his food was bland. I ordered a steak fajita quesadilla, it was ok but I've had better. We decided to give it another try when we were moving and ordered take out. We ordered food for 3 people. We got 1 small container of salsa and chips. I ordered steak fajita's, the steak was tough and full of gristle. The food and service at Palmas Verdes on Old Hickory Blvd is much better. We will not return to La Hacienda.

We asked for to-go boxes, and our waitress took our almost-full basket of chips away. Very scared she dumped it into some communal chip vat to be re-served to oblivious customers after our hands had been all over them. Muy repulsivo! You'll find better luck (and fresh chips) at Cinco de Mayo on OHB.

After reading the reviews, I was expecting the worst. However I was pleasantly surprised. The margs were great as were the fajitias. Tacos were good. Only disappointment was the enchiladas..

I'm from CA, and as a whole Mexican food out here in Nashville leaves a lot to be desired. However La Hacienda has good fresh guacamole and decent food. But the reason I'll be going back is the Margaritas! At most restaurants they bring out a pitcher and as many empty glasses as people at the table. Here they brought out full glasses for each of us as well as an over flowing pitcher. And even though they bring out a lot, they sure don't water them down. I would definitely recommend going here!

First off, I understand I went to a Mexican restaurant on Cinco De Mayo, and I understand that there will be a wait longer than usual. I also have heard from other people that have come in on non-holidays that they experienced poor service and food. With that, thinking it may have been a fluke and was an off-day for the restaurant, we came in with the intent to have a good time. With it taking 15 minutes to place our drink order (and we placed the food order at the same time) we were still ready to enjoy a great Mexican meal. When we received our drinks, we didn't see our waiter for another 45 minutes. No refills, no water, no more chips. He helped multiple tables around the restaurant, but not once stopped by to see if we were alright. As we were about to pay for the first round of drinks and leave our food came to the table. Mediocre at best, we had to call our waiter back as he was walking away to get more beverages. Waiter was rude as we placed drink orders for 2 of the 3 of us, then he began to walk away. We had to call him back again to place the third order, which he then brought the wrong thing. Again, I don't blame the waiter 100%, him having 10 tables scattered between the inside and patio didn't help, but my experience with the service and the food quality on this "festive" day will have me not coming back. We should have gone to Taco Bell for better food at a better price with nicer staff.

Walking in you see nothin more then another just another Mexican restaurant in a ran down strip mall just along side Nashville's string of Chinese restaurants and liquire stores. DON'T let this fool you! Expect a wait, the regulars of the area are not regular due to availability, but because of awesome food, great atmosphere, the friendliest staff, and not to mention top notch-top shelf margaritas! Food is awesome, and expect dinner to run u around $6-$10!!!! Fresh avocados, home made guacamole, and pico de giao puts la Hacienda above other mexican restaurants. Great for families, friends, and even a date. You'll find me on the patio enjoying my dinner, pull up a chair, grab a drink, and relax.

Wow. Walking into La Hacienda can be a bit daunting at first. Bright colors, loud music, lots of noise - definitely a cacophony of sounds and sights. This must be similar to walking into a street market in Tijuana. But keep steady, my friend. For if you can make it to a table, you have made. From margaritas to fajitas, this place has flavor in spades. The cheese dip? Delicioso! The tacos? Fantstico! Oh, and the fajitas...now you're talking. An odd but semi-important detail none-the-less. The chairs here are round wicker oddities, and not the most pleasant place to rest your bones. However, during the more mild months, try to get a seat on the patio. The atmosphere is fun, and the seating is much more appealing to your derriere. And if you can make it, check this place out for lunch. They've got tons of great lunch specials under $7-$8, so your leave with your stomach and your wallet full.

DO NOT CONFUSE THIS PLACE WITH LA HACIENDA ON NOLENSVILLE ROAD! The food here is not good!

  • Mary G.

Great authentic Mexican restaurant where you definitely get your money's worth. If you want to try several different items, I would suggest ordering the special dinner. I go there every time I'm in Nashville. It's seems very cheesy when you first walk in, but I really enjoy the food and drinks there.

  • Krystal T.

I am definitely a fan of the margaritas, which are pretty great and cheap even off-special. Plus, sipping a Dos Equis or Corona on their outdoor patio in the sun and shade of the umbrellas is quite pleasant. At night, their patio is lit with hanging lights that make the restaurant feel cozy. Even though the restaurant is located next to a sometimes busy road, there is a hill and wall that blocks your view, and it is quiet enough to hold a conversation. I highly recommend it for low-key dates or group gatherings. The inside is also great for group gatherings as they have huge tables and live music. The waitstaff is INCREDIBLY friendly and very good-humored! Their little quick quips and funny wit really makes dining a fun experience. The portion sizes are huge, and the price is excellent for the quality. Because this is a family-oriented Mexican restaurant, the atmosphere is a little kitschy, but for this place, it just makes sense.

5 star, 10 times over!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have never ever found any better Mexican food in Nashville. Have been goimg for 15 years! The wait staff is incredible.

  • Jasmine M.

There are 2 items I get from here: the carnitas and the chicken tortilla soup. Everything else is mediocre and bland. The carnitas are seasoned just right and are not dry whatsoever. The soup is sooo yummy and has all these wonderful things in it, like pico, cheese, avocado, and a bunch of chicken. It's great for the buck! Service is ok if you have certain waitstaff. Some are rude and some are nice. Expect rudeness so that you won't be disappointed :)

  • James S.

It's very bland and just OK. I had a combination plate, and the beef enchilada was filled with dry ground beef that tasted like air. The taco had the same tasteless beef plus bland cheese. You can get a much more flavorful taco and enchilada at Taco Bell. The chalupa was OK, with beans, tomato, and a blob of guac. The only thing that stood out was the chips and salsa. Chips were crisp, and the salsa was plain but had a nice flavor of fresh cilantro. The server took my order fairly promptly, but completely ignored me after my food arrived. Entree, soda, tax, and a small tip totaled $13.

We love La Ha so much we come here once a week. For taco Tuesday. Best Mexican around.

  • Kiel G.

I called to find out when they close at night. I was told 10pm. I had just arrived at a nearby hotel which I stay at frequently. So I left my hotel and ran over because I was famished. I attempted to open the door at 947 and the manager had already locked the door and stood there looking at me as if to say "sorry chump, better luck next time". If a place advertises that they close at 10, then lock the door at 10. I have better things to do than to waste my time attempting to give business to an establishment that doesn't want it.

  • Kaleena 'Kala' H.

Went here with my friends for lunch and "mid-day margaritas". It wasn't that busy so we were able to get a table pretty quickly. Didn't care much for the decor...it just seemed like a typical Mexican restaurant. I ordered a chicken quesadilla, an order of cheese dip for the chips, and a small watermelon margarita. The food was good, but nothing special. The margarita was pretty strong for a small amount...I had to keep sipping my water to get the strong taste out of my mouth. I'll probably come back mainly just because my husband wants to try the food here.

    (3)
  • Judy S.

Slow service. Food was OK...somewhat bland. ..salsa was basically tomato sauce. My margarita was too sour so I watered it down with Sprite. The chairs are too large for the tables.

    (2)
  • Colleen T.

The Service was Excellent .. Unfortunately the Food Didn't match !! I ordered a Combo Plate and the Beef was not Seasoned AT ALL .. and the sauce on the plate tasted like a sauce out of a RAGU or other Spaghetti Sauce Jar !! SO DISAPPOINTED in the food !!

    (1)
  • Marissa J.

Food was fine, service was good! Free refills on chips and salsa, and they refilled it before we even ran out. More chips and salsa is almost always a positive!

This restaurant was close to our hotel and because we were traveling with a dog we decided to get takeout. We both got taco salad, and we were given a very generous portion of chips and 2 types of salsa. The salad was very fresh and delicious. We enjoyed the food and it was a very easy convenient experience.

first let me say, patio is great! needs a bit of an update but perfect for sippin margaritas and enjoying friends! food is the regular food you see at every Mexican spot and I always wonder how it comes out in less then 5mins haha but this place will always be our 'spot' especially because of a certain Juan!... he is pretty much the best!!!!!

Food is not that good..service was sub par. There are way better Mexican restaurant around. I would go to them.

I'm not sure how this place is still in business to be completely honest with you. This place has been down the street from my house for most of my life and it's been consistently terrible for the past few years. Nothing on the menu is tasty it's just food for the sake of food. The fajita nachos are a favorite of mine at most Mexican restaurants and there's is just not desirable. It's put together very sloppy, and it just taste blah. My most recent visit was welcome with absolutely terrible service from a server who I feel like is either new or nobody has taught him how to properly serve a group. There seems to be no cycle of service through out the restaurant. Just a disappointing experience with family who just arrived back in the country and had a hankering for Mexican. There are great Mexican restaurants in the area, go to them.

    (1)
  • Mala H.

Super bland, and very poor quality mexican food, but it is Nashville. Go for the giant drinks only, those are interesting. They can also accommodate large groups.

I was looking for a place to blow off some steam that was not too far from work and my friend recommended this restaurant. I did not have high hopes when we pulled up to the restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised once we were seated. It was midday so it was crowded but we were seated quickly. The chips were fresh and warm, but the salsa was a little bland for my taste. The queso dip was the perfect consistency and very tasty. The star of the meal was my margarita. It was delicious. Strong enough and flavorful even though it was frozen. The next visit will be just for that. My entree was arroz con pollo and while the portion was generous,it was a little salty. Overall it was a decent dining experience.

Both times we have gone the food came out cold and bland. Add to that the poor atmosphere and you get a 1 star. We'll drive further for better Mex.

  • Billy H.

I live close to this restaurant & I've tried it a few times because I want to like it. The service is nice & fast. All the food tastes the same. Most of the ingredients just taste bland. The chicken tastes like it's boiled in water & then thrown on a taco. The chips are usually room temperature. The margaritas are good. I'd go for a margarita. I wouldn't go for the food.

    (2)
  • Lindy B.

I've been here a handful of times over the years since its right down the street from me. I've never been overly impressed. Everything is on the low end of the "average" scale. My last encounter was with a to-go order of chicken fajitas. The chicken had no taste. None. Service is fine and they have an outdoor patio but that's still probably not enough to lure me back in. Cinco De Mayo is one exit up and a hundred times better.

  • Queen B.

Eww, eww, eww... This was a bad dream. Waitstaff was beyond hope. It was impossible to get our waiter to come to our table. When we got salsa and chips, salsa was weak and watery - no flavor and chips were stale. Friend ordered a combination plate of two enchiladas and rice and beans. minuscule amount of stuffing in enchiladas and then overwhelmed with sauce. Beans and rice were bland. How do they stay open?

    (1)
  • Mary A.

The food is very average, the only good thing were the chips & salsa. I ordered the carne asada soft tacos and they was loaded with onions, not much taste. My husband's chili colorado was so hot, he could't even eat it. Our food came out about 5 minutes after we ordered it, so I don't know how fresh it was. We have had much better food elsewhere, would not go back.

La Hacienda must translate to The House because they always make me feel at home here. The menu is pretty extensive and everything I've tried was Great, the Chile Relleno and the Pescado are fantastico ! ( Pescado, Fish served with the head on, if you cant handle having your dinner looking at you, pass on this dish ) One of the server's grows his own peppers to share with the guests, I Love Those Home Grown Hot Peppers. They offer a lunch menu, served quickly and very reasonably priced. Oh, be sure to ask for the Salsa Verde and the Hot Salsa, Muy Bien, Gracias!

Went yesterday and the food is always good but yesterday the waitress was not very good. She spent more time sitting inside instead oh waiting on the customers . So the service needs to improve. Any the staff needs to waiting on the customers needs.

FIRST REVIEW EVER ON THE INTERNET. I am a normal guy that uses technology, however I have never done a review on a product, a restaurant or place because I have never had a reason I guess. I ate here last night and it was the worst food I've ever had in my life. I decided to review, just to help you not make the same mistake. Service: Bad, Saw the waiter 1 time for water and deliver food once. Atmosphere: Very loud. Fan under the spotlights could cause seizures, but definitely sent me home with a major headache. Food: Barely edible. Burrito, enchilada, chicken quesadilla, rice and beans all had no flavor, no spice nothing. Tasted like overcooked browned ground beef. Chips: OK. Nothing special. Only got 1 basket because no 1 would come back to us. Left with a sick stomach, spending too much money on bad food and bad service. This was hardley a restaurant and barely food. Please don't ruin your night by going to this restaurant. Stay away. Doesn't even deserve 1 star.

Typical Mexican restaurant with the menu-by-the numbers. Pretty nice and clean atmosphere, but the food was just okay. Also, for some reason we had to track our server down for the check, which she did not leave us after two post-meal delivery trips to our table. I have had better food at the Las Palmas chains in the area. There is some nice outdoor seating at this location as well. As far as the girl a couple below who keeps mysteriously getting "food poisoning" on every restaurant she reviews: I'd suggest a gastroenterologist. Either that or your version of food poisoning is vastly different than mine.

  • Yolanda T.

Excellent meal. I had the burrito fajado(?) and it was spectacular. It was do much I didn't think I was going to finish but it was so good I couldn't stop eating it! This place is a hidden gem.

This place is hit or miss. Love their chips and salsa. Love their margaritas. Nothing is that special....just your average Mexican food. But, I always come back!

    (3)
  • Shane M.

Not very impressed. Portions aren't that large, service leaves something to be desired, and the food is so so. The best thing about this place is the new bar, and the outdoor patio. (Which gets super hot during the day).

    (2)
  • Anthony P.

Good, maybe even very good, for the Nashville area. I grew up in New Mexico, so I'm not easy to please. Sadly I can't afford to fly to Santa Fe just to enjoy a great meal. So in the meantime Laha will do just fine.

  • Ryan H.

I should have trusted my fellow Yelpers on this one, but the concierge at the hotel I was staying at offered rave reviews, so we decided to give it a shot. I'll cut right to the chase here, because this place just isn't worth writing an extensive review. 1. The margaritas were watered down and weak. 2. The food was unbelievably salty. So much so that nobody in my party finished their meals. This joint could easily pass for a one-star affair, but I will give up that extra star because the chips and salsa were good. All in all, a complete downer that we were still complaining about a week later.

    (2)
  • Marie T.

I had the nachos supremos and it was awful. Description reads, "Cheese nachos with assorted toppings of beef, chicken & beans. All covered with lettuce, tomatoes and sour cream." I ordered vegetarian with no meat and just beans. Lettuce is the worst quality possible - very wilted and pale ice berg. And there was only 1 measly slice of a tomato. The beans were terrible, seemed like poor quality canned bean paste. Very dissatisfied and felt totally jibbed that they charged me $9.5

I'd give it a zero and plan on calling the heath services after i do this Yelp. Disgusting. Horrible. Offensive. Gross. = La Hacienda on Bell Rd. Poop Smelling. Flies. Dirty tables. Horrible Waiters. Disgusting Food. No Service. (Just in case you're one of those people that look at the first couple lines of a Yelp) When we first walked in it smelled like someone had literally taken a crap at the door way. As a joke - i asked the guy in front of me if he crapped his pants but it was horrible. Still we tried to keep a good face and look (or smell) past the gross first impression. We got seating right away in the corner and the decor looked like everything that a Hacienda should have but then when i looked slowly at the windows and table there was dirty and at least two flies at our table trying to escape. That's what i did for the 10 min it took to get chips - catch flies. When the chips were put on the table the guy that seated us just dropped them off and didn't take our drinks or anything. We had to literally go up and tell them to give us something to drink after 6 mins of waiting. The waiter came over (the one that seated us, who had a horrible high and tight) and asked us for our order and when he brought it back they were the wrong drinks. We waited another 10 mins and had to go up to the counter again to ask if we could so kindly be asked for our meal order. It was ridiculous. The waiter then came over and tried to make a joke of the horrible service when we asked for hot sauce and more chips he said "no...just kidding!" Needless to say, he got horrible looks from the four of us. I'm gonna skip ahead and just mention why the next 30 mins were a waste of my life. 1. No chips or hot sauce/guacamole as requested for 15 min. 2. 20 min wait for food. 3. Different waiter switch with no warning then he disappeared and had to go up the counter agin. 4. All of us got different things which all were horrible tasting and tasted old. Carmones Rancheros (disgusting shrimp and bland spanish rice - no tortilla till we were done with our meal so i didn't even get to eat the meal with it), Chicken Burrito with Chicken Fajita meat - old chicken that tasted raw, Quesdilla was not memorable, Enchilada Supremo - hot sauce was just pure spice with no taste and road kill chicken 5. No mid meal check in from the unknown disappearing waiters. 6. No refills on drinks till we asked. 7. Gross sweet tea/ice tea 8. Check never came so we had to ask yet again from another random waiter 9. Unenthusiastic waiters who don't give a crap. Period. 10. When we told the counter about the horrible service, food and disgusting atmosphere he responded with "..ok" The ONLY GOOD THING that came out of going to that Hacienda was the cheap $3.36 gas down the street. DONT EVER GO THERE. By the way, pretty sure i got food poisoning also.

Popped by here for some much needed carbs post a day full of mischief and debauchery at Percy Priest Lake. There were only 3 things on my mind after a day full cocktails and the sun beating down on me. Oddly enough, it didn't consist of margaritas which I have heard are great here. Diet Coke + bean burritos (no cheese) + trough of tortilla chips with salsa = survival The food certainly got the job done but was unremarkable. Could it be because I wasn't exactly ordering the most exciting things on the menu too? However, the service was good and the bill was only a whopping $7 for a massive plate of 2 bean burritos and an unlimited amount of chips and soda. Can't really complain about that, can I? This location is not in an area that I frequent so I doubt that I will make my way back unless I make another pit-stop at the lake soon.

This restaurant has a pleasant ambience but yelp ratings are for the food. I am left with no choice but 1 star. This restaurant is the worst of the worst. There is nothing mexican about the food here. The tacos are so bad. They are all cheese, cheese and cheese. Absolutely Rubbish. Thought mexican food was supposed to be fun, spicy but this food is as bland as mashed potatoes.

    (1)
  • Matt L.

Barely mediocre! Mediocre is almost too good to call this place. Nothing was very fresh. Nothing was very flavorful. It was just a pile of food arranged uncreatively on my plate. Everything seemed cheap, from the tables and chairs to the service, which left much to be desired. My son's food, the "Mexican Hamburger" (whatever that is), looked extremely stale. Overall, it's just a place I won't be going back to. The chips and salsa were decent; so they have that going for them, which is nice.

  • Ben H.

So this is my buddy and I's 2nd visit. The only reason we r coming back is because of the Pizza Quesadilla plain and simple (: it is PHENOMENAL! Salsa is pretty good as well. The first time we came the waiter was horrible... Visited out table maybe twice... Took forever to get our food. Didnt even bring chips and salsa until we asked, maybe 10 mins later... So service was sub-par. This 2nd time we came at lunch time instead. we had a waitress and although she was way better and more responsive, the waiter that brought us out our salsa and chips, we asked for a bowl of hot as well.. Never came back. Food came out much faster this time though. So service not as good here but pizza Ques- the bomb!!! Perfect amount of food for a man. So if u decide to eat here stay on the wait staff and pray you get a good one! ~Enjoy

I've only been to this La Hacienda because I was dragged in by friends and during none of those times was I wowed by their food. It is your typical Mexican restaurant, but there are plenty of other better ones in town.

  • Lashona M.

I always notice this place is ALWAYS packed especially at night no matter what day of the week. I had to stop in and see what all of the fuss was about. The food was ok I might add! I had the chile relleno (a stuff with cheese chile pablano) with a side of rice and beans. The salsa and cheese dip for the nacho was good. I'm still shopping around for good mexican food so I'm on the prawl! I'd go back again though.

  • Theresa V.

I just need to say something about whoever said the salsa was out of a jar. You're an idiot. The salsa tastes different almost every day. It is made there. Just sayin. Other than that, it isn't the best Mexican food I've ever had, but it's good. We live close by and we tend to get their takeout. I also noticed all these comments talk about the girl who waited on them. There's only like 2 female waitresses there. I've been waited on by guys almost every time I've been there. I like a lot of things there.

Didn't get to try the food. I waited at the front counter while staffers kept walking by me without making eye contact or any acknowledgement that I was there. Waited about 5 minutes and walked out.

I've been there multiple times ... Not because I like this place but because it's the only Mexican place close to work !!! Everytime I go there I am disappointed ... The food is just ordinary ... Definitely nothing to talk about!!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
