Hideous. Go to Wal-Mart for better sushi. I don't know it they make sushi at Wal-Mart, but that's my point. It was awful. The crab Rangoon was very good, but the dynamite roll, California roll, avocado roll and Dragon roll were terrible. All rice, no other filler, moo avocado. Terrible.

Awesome Asian and American food! Sushi is delicious, creative and half price on Saturdays and Wednesdays along with half price Sake, pretty great deal. They have an excellent bar with many top shelf liquors and craft beers. Occasional live music. I eat here almost every time I'm in Kingsport and in my opinion it's the best restaurant in the area.

This place is a really great treat for myself. The sushi is always spot on, they keep craft beers flowing, and it's as clean as you'd expect of any respectable restaurant. If I don't get a dose of Curry Basil Noodles at least once a week, it's because I've been kidnapped and you should probably call the police... help.

Was not even edible. Top worst place I've ever eaten. Sushi smelled so bad and the so called chicken was not even chewable I literally had to spit it out. I've never had an experience like this and I never leave a bad review.

Tried stir fry cafe for the 1st time today and really enjoyed it. I had the drunken noodles ma day wife had the general tsos chicken. She absolutely loved hers and I really liked mine. It was a little hot for my taste buy I can't gold that against them since it says it's hot. We will definitely be going again

This is my second visit to the Stir Fry Cafe, and I have to say, its just not that good. When staying in Kingsport, I am faced with few restaurant choices, and especially so when I feel like eating sushi. I need to realize that maybe, when I am in rural, east tennessee, I just shouldn't be eating raw fish.............. Well anyway, I walked in a little after 6pm. The bar was totally empty, and I took a seat there. Ooops. Maybe I could have had a server with a normal personality, instead I am stuck with the bartender. I ordered a glass of wine, they definitely go easy on the pour here. Whatever, I asked for a sheet of paper to order my sushi on and the bartender had no idea what I was asking for. I might as well have been speaking Japanese. It's normal to order Nigiri off a piece of paper, right? Am I crazy? Wait, don't answer that. So I tried the edamame and the miso soup. My soup came out and I instantly remembered my last trip to this place. The miso specifies it has Shitake mushrooms. Last time, my soup came out with button mushrooms and I had to explain to the server they should be shitake according to the menu(again, I was looked at like I was speaking Japanese). The miso this time was fine, however the edamame was overcooked and unsalted. I was actually pretty pleased with my nigiri. I stuck to yellowtail, salmon and tuna. The guy making my sushi seemed friendly, he asked if I liked fish roe and topped my nigiri off with roe. I liked the crunchy flavor, and the fish flavor was surprisingly good, it beat my expectations. The restaurant was pretty empty, but when making drinks for a table, I heard the bartender tell the waitress to cut them off. I couldn't see or hear this table therefore, there is no way they were being rowdy. Cutting people off is okay, but if its like 6:30, your restaurant is empty AND the people aren't being obnoxious... seriously, how much could they have possibly drank? I guess bartenders on power trips totally turn me off. Plus this place advertises like it has a nightlife, seeing as they are in kingsport, tn, an overzealous bartender will not help that side of the biz. Overall, the experience was OK-but I probably won't be back. The sushi was more pleasing than the service. Next time I think I'll opt for the BBQ joint nearby. Probably a better bet in Kingsport.

Just ok, nothing special. Ran out of edamame and informed us we had to wait as they had to send someone to the grocery store to buy more. Topped it off by being unable to serve the dish I ordered.

I went for half price sushi night and I wasn't too happy with the food. Granted it is sushi on sale so I wasn't expecting the best. The amount of fish in my rolls were pretty much un noticeable. 1/4 of all my rolls didn't even have any fish. There was enough fish to even taste the fish. And most of my rolls there was less than 5% of the entire roll was fish. But the service was good, the trainee was taking care of the place better than the waitress. Not coming again for half price sushi.. going to grocery store from now on.

Sashimi in Tennessee?? Surprisingly delicious! Our table ordered three of the sashimi platters ($20 each) to start. They came with two pieces of tuna, yellow tail, salmon, red snapper, salmon roe, spicy crab, and octopus. The pieces were sliced pretty thin, but it tasted fresh. The spring rolls to start were also nice... crispy and well-stuffed. This place is an fusion restaurant that has something for everybody... a nice mix of thai, chinese, japanese, and american food. I opted for the sea bass.. a pretty decent size cut of fish that comes on top of a bed of spinach and is topped with a soy-ginger glaze. the fish might be frozen and not the freshest, but it was still pretty good. you get rice with it and your choice of spring roll or soup.. LOVED the wonton soup (the broth part, the actual wonton was just okay). I was with a big party and even though the place was pretty busy on a Monday night, the service was great. they kept our drinks coming and we never had to wait too long for anything. depending on what you order, it's not too expensive either. really, it's 3.5 stars because 3 is a little stingy, and 4 is a little two generous...

Another local favorite of mine! My favorites are the Envy Roll and the Tomato Basil Noodles with Chicken or Shrimp. Also impressed with the Stir Fry Pizza but big enough for me to share! Decent wine and beer selection. There is an American menu for those that don't like sushi or asian food. The Kobe burger and sweet potato fries are excellent! If you are from a bigger city and are looking for a wide selection of sushi creations, you will be disappointed, but one of the better sushi places in the area. If it's not busy, I'm sure the sushi chefs would be willing to entertain special requests. Great place to meet up for drinks after work or after special events in the area. On Thursdays (May - Aug), there is also Twilight Alive downtown and this place stays packed so come early on those nights if you want a seat. Wed is half price sushi and busy on that night too. On Fridays and Saturdays, they have live music and it can get loud. Outdoor seating available too!

Great locally owned place with great sushi and an eclectic and wonderful beer selection. I went for a wedding rehersal dinner. We started with sushi appetizers. I was told this is the best sushi in TN and I wouldn't doubt it. Next was a salad with a fried green tomato on top. I would have had two if I could. This was followed by a smoked steak, shrimp and rice. This was the best steak I have had in quite a while. Better than Denver's Steak 10 for sure! Don't forget the beer. They have a huge beer selection. Many micro brews and craft brews from around the country. Try th Rocky Mountain IPA from Fort Collins brewing company or the Terrapin from Athens, GA or an Anchor Steam from San Francisco, or... I could go on for a while.

Vegetarians beware! I went to lunch at the Kingsport location today and asked my server about vegan options. He mentioned that some of the items in the "Vegetarian" menu section (including the Szechuan Tofu) are prepared with chicken broth! This, of course, means that those items aren't just not vegan, they are also NOT VEGETARIAN. False advertising much? I'll be skipping Stir Fry Cafe in the future.

Where do you go for sushi in Kingsport? I still need the answer to that one. Sushi here was just ok. I have had MUCH better. My husband and I were seated in the hallway going to the bathroom?!?! There were two tables pushed together like they were set aside if there was a need for them somewhere else. That is where we were seated! Because the two tables where pushed together my husband and I didn't even feel like we were sitting together! Of course we had to move one table off to the side. I did mention that we were sitting by ourselves in the hallway going to the bathroom!!! Now the service. Slow, slow and slow! Need I say more. We waited forever to get our food. Very disappointing! Will try another restaurant the next time I am in Kingsport.

Worst sushi I ever had! Been here for other dishes; ok. Sushi, lacked flavor, small, and little fish in sushi. Basically, rice rolls

My wife and I just had dinner at SFC for the first time. Food (stir fry) was great and we had excellent service. We definitely recommend this restaurant and we look forward to a return visit. A bit pricey, but very good.

For my first restaurant experience in Kingsport, TN the initial impressions were very good. From the looks of the rest of downtown it looked like it was the most happening place...which meant there were four people inside the restaurant. The staff was very friendly and prompt. They were not overbearing and had a good sense of timing based on there being only one other table at 7:00 ... everything could have come out at the same time. My soup appetizer was very good but no matter how hard I tried I could not eat the main entree. It was waaay to salty and this is coming from someone who adds additonal salt to almost anything and everything I eat!! I don't remember the name of the dish but it involved a black bean sauce. My fiance's meal was pretty good but I have had much better elsewhere. But from looking at the local selection I'd say it's a good start.

I usually really enjoy this restaurant. The sushi is good and most rolls are half price on Wednesdays and Saturdays. They also do bottomless noodle bowls and I have been impressed with their pad Thai and drunken noodles. This stir fry also has an American menu and they have some of the best sweet potato fries ever!

For my wife and I this our go to spot when we are kid free, preferably on Wednesday or Saturday when they have half price sushi. They also have a great beer selection along with a good variety of entrees!

I've only tried their sushi and had some of their fries from a friends plate (haha!). Based on that alone, they're reallllyyy good! The usually get a tuna roll or dynamite roll. Superb! I tried the dragon roll once and I thought it was disgusting because there was cream cheese in it. I was so confused. Some people might like cream cheese in their sushi so I don't hold it against them considering they do a great job on the food I do like. I also enjoyed the edamame and a glass or bottle of Moscato wine. The outdoor seating is nice although limited. I've never had an issue with finding a seat outside but it could happen. I'm only giving them 4 stars because I got there one day during their 1/2 of sushi nights and it was so crowded and not there really wasn't much of a waiting area. Everyone was just standing around blocking the entrance although some sat on the one bench they have inside. The 1/2 off sushi day is on Wednesdays and Saturdays if I'm not mistaken.

Fun restaurant in downtown Kingsport. I got the Junkyard Roll and it really was a little bit of everything (and then some!). We started with the edamame and the ginger sauce that they had was great. We started in the outside seating but as the temperature dropped they were able to seat us inside which made a big difference. Our kids left a mess which I started to clean up but they shooed me out the door--I left a big tip :P

This place saved my Saturday night. Was in town, visiting family and needed a good Asian restaurant. This fit the bill. So happy to have found it, will definitely add to my Kingsport list when down from Detroit.

Not what it used to be. Atmosphere was stale as was our appetizer. Sushi was half off but the portions felt like they were too. Service was very lacking. Our server took our order immediately but didn't return for refills of drinks or any checks on us. When I asked for the check it still didn't come promptly. I ended up putting my wallet on the table with the credit card out and the server finally came back and said someone else was supposed to bring the check. No plans to return.

Great sushi and noodle dishes. Large wine and beer list. Service is a bit slow.

Service was good and the staff was attentive even while it was busy. Menu is all over the place, so that was a decent warning. Sadly the sushi was sub-par. Most of the rolls were about equal to what you can get at some grocery stores. However the sashimi was disgusting. Color and smell were both off, we sent it back and they were kind enough to take it off the bill. If you're stuck in the area, it will probaby be okay but stick with the burgers.

What needs to be considered before anything else pertaining to the food i feel: extremely large menu. Not how I would do it myself, but hey, something for everybody - and in Kingsport TN, I don't feel anyone has much of a leg to stand on in terms of comparisons. Support your local non-corporate businesses! It's nearly impossible to do everything well with such a large menu all over the place. You won't have anything that transcends when your focusing on so many things done mediocrely, absolutely impossible to have everything be fresh unless you have 4,000 prep cooks. The food was mediocre to very good depending on what you order, the service was very good and has always been friendly ( you will always be able to find something to nitpick about for service, i don't care where you go, so shut up) and the overall experience was very nice, i like the atmosphere. Will go back a third time. My rating of a 4 takes into account other restaurants in try-cities.
