This place was one of five choices on our train ride in from blue ridge. I guess they spent too much money on their vast beer selection because the menu choices were rather lacking. They brought my two year old son water in a glass. When we asked if they had any plastic the said no. After waiting for thirty minutes the waitress told us that they were out of hamburgers. Since we had to catch our train, we left without eating. It was for the better because there was no soap in either bathroom so lord knows where the cooks are going to wash their hands. I would suggest that you avoid this place at all costs!!

Well they have Amber Bock on draft so 1 point for that...otherwise this place sucks. Menu is very limited and by that I mean burgers, hot dogs & chips...I've tailgated better than this.

I wish I could give it no stars!!! Place could have been from the movie"The Hills Have Eyes" Waitress was not friendly and quickly acted offended when I asked for another glass of Coke for my daughter, her first glass was flat, the refill only slightly better. Food was nasty . The girl who brought out food out had a mouthful of rotten black teeth. My wife was unable to eat at all. Bill was $40 for the 4 of us, and I left feeling nauseous and like I'd just been robbed.

If you enjoy diarrhea, definitely eat here. The entire experience was appalling and I still get nauseous when I think about it. BEWARE!!!

1 star only because there is nothing less than 1 star to give. Patrick's Irish Pub and Grill is neither an Irish pub nor a grill...discuss! LOL. Even the Subway in this town has to be better than this dump. Here's the waitress taking our order: "Drink?"... "Food?" "Uh NO we don't have time for French fries with all these people around here! It's potato chips or nothing." Skip this place. Blue Ridge train riders beware, keep walking!

This place should be shut down! Everyone in our party left without eating because the food was so disgusting. The burgers were saturated in grease and tasted rotten. My daughter's grilled cheese had grape jelly smudges on the outside of the bread and some kind of questionable cheese inside. They poured soda out of 2 liter bottles and got ice out of a dirty cooler. The kitchen staff brought the food out wearing dirty, food covered, clothes and when I passed by on the way to the bathroom, they weren't wearing gloves. This was absolutely the worst restaurant I've ever experienced.

Well we ate at this place because it looked pretty good from the street. The food was super fast which was good (only reason for 2nd star) but that was it. The burgers were the type you would get out of a food wagon at a county fair. I would guess the beer would be the only benefit to this place. Keep walking if you are looking for a place to eat.

This place is NOT an Irish pub, first of all. Calling this an Irish pub is like labeling Godzilla a little lizard, it ain't true. Their burgers are obviously precooked because we got our food about a minute after we ordered. They are thin patties out of a frozen box, totally opposite of their "only the freshest ingredients" claim. The burgers came with crushed potato chips out of the bottom of the bag. Yuck. Life us too short to eat crappy food like this. That was $24 and 20 minutes in our lives that we'll never get back!

1.5 stars is too high. Nothing Irish about this place. Frozen burgers thrown on grill.

I have had better food at my grandson's school cafeteria! Wife and I went here on 11/9/14 during the "layover" portion of the Blueridge Scenic Train Tour. It looked inviting, so in we went. The menu is very limited, and it doesn't have the coziness of a true Irish pub. Mostly sandwiches made from processed meats from a grocery store. Horrible, horrible, horrible. I got the "Pub Burger" for $7.99, which consisted of a thin burger patty topped with chili, cheese, and other Fixins, and stale ruffles potato chips. The beer was good, however. Wife's "Turkey and Swiss Panini" consisted of two slices of processed turkey lunch meat, a slice of processed Swiss cheese, all between two unspectacular pieces of white wonder bread that had been put on a panini press. They even forgot to bring the dip that was advertised with the sandwich. Top it all off with stale potato chips and you have a special meal to remember your trip - NOT!!!!! We should have gone to Subway - it would have been better AND cheaper.

Stopped in here and had a bite to eat as we were in town for the train ride layover. Our server (Matt) was excellent and gave us good recommendations and knew the menu and beer selections well. Service was quick and the food came out quickly too. The menu is slightly limited but hey it is a Pub and we are in a small town. Nevertheless the food was good and the beer was ice cold. We had a hotdog for the kiddo, a Reuben sandwich, and a cheese burger. It might not have been fancy but as I said it was good. And they do have a nice selection of beers on tap! Will be glad to stop in here again the next time I am in town!

Charged $5 for two pieces of regular wheat bread, one slice of cheese and 2 strips of bacon. Was flat and thin and had no flavor. Ordered two sandwiches and only got chips for one. Ended up throwing the second sandwich in the trash because of quality and flavor. Will definitely not be going again.

It's a "pub" and "grill" but only by name. It's eerily and awkwardly dead quiet in the joint. Also, there's only one server, clearly not enough to serve the hoards of tourists, train-riders, tubers, and rafters that come through the place during the day. Food choices were very minimal and meh...

I made the mistake of not yelping after stepping off the scenic train ride. Hoping that the pub would have good beer on tap and decent bar food... I was greatly disappointed. 6 domestic beers on draft and they were out of one. After reading about the burgers I opted for a BLT, and it was a lettuce leaf, couple sliced tomatoesand microwaved bacon pressed between two pieces of white bread in a panini press. It was not fulfilling at all, however I don't expect much from a small mountain town.

There's a reason this place is only open from 11-2 when the train is in town - because all us locals know better. There are a dozen restaurants in town, this wouldn't be my first pick, or second, or third, or fourth ... I think you get the idea. A word to the wise - & the word is NO.

Like the rest of the reviews, if a quarter star or even better - a circle with a line through it were available, I would've chosen that for my rating. There is nothing Irish about this establishment except the owner's name (Patrick); no Irish food or drink. When we got there, one of the staff was just coming back from buying what turned out to be our lunch fixin's from IGA just up the block. We all had sandwiches - turkey & swiss, roast beef, and my mom tried her first reuben (poor thing, she was totally robbed of how they're supposed to be prepared) Hope you like panini style sandwiches because that's how all of ours were. Our sandwiches literally consisted of IGA meat right of the package, a piece of cheese, squirt of mustard and oh yeah, potato chips... no lettuce, tomatoes, pickles - just meat, cheese and mustard squashed panini style to where the sandwich was 1/2" thick. The owner seemed nice, paying us girls compliments but upon getting the bill and leaving, we all felt like we all had just been distracted by a pretty shiny thing while some creep was doing us dirty. Bottom line, get a coke and pack of crackers to tide you over - and head to Blue Ridge. (note-to-self... consult Yelp more frequently)

We took the train ride to visit Copperhill and this place looked good on the local brochure. The menu choices were meager and the food was just fair - not bad, but not at all impressive. Since pubs in Ireland are not the best places to go for food I would say that this place is authentic. You can tell a lot about the non-visible parts of a restaurant by checking out the bathrooms. The men's room was usable but poorly maintained. Not recommended.
