It's not that the food is bad, it just wasn't good enough to make up for the time spent, the inattentive service, and the $40 bill for lunch for two. I know I have to pay $2 or $3 for a Coke these days. This is made infinitely more painful when it is not refilled. The only thing a server can do that is almost as annoying as not refilling drinks is making me wait for the check, especially at lunch. We waited and waited and waited with our dirty plates and empty glasses. I know that generally breakfast is a racket and it's not like I haven't paid $20 for lunch before. I just expect to leave happy with the experience and not feeling like I need to hit the snack closet two hours later.

Ate virtually daily at First Watch in Stuart, Fla., my former home, and always looked for First Watch when I traveled. Great menu full of light, flavorful choices. And restaurant was always bright, clean and pleasant. I'm sure the Brentwood restaurant is no different. Quality control is a hallmark of each and every restaurant. I can't think of single bad experience in two or more years of eating there. I only wish there were more First Watches across U.S. The last time I explored in search of one, I learned they're not so easy to find.

Consistently good food and service. Love their brunch menu. Coffee, however; is the worst! Quinoa plates are very good!

Yum. Yum. Yum! If you're looking for a non-dripping-in-butter soaked or fried breakfast. ... well come on down! The Butternut Squash soup is addictive. In all the right ways. Also. This establishment is located Brentwood/ Franklin. HOWEVER!!! They actually had non-whites working in more than the kitchen! I was shocked by that. Let's be honest about the Brentwood/ Franklin area. For us non-whites to gget respect, you must be rollingin the newest benz or range rover. Outside of that, we get no-love. BUTNOT TTHIS PLACE! So not like that! Everyone was pleasant and friendly! This place might actually lead me to start shopping in that area again!

My family and I went here for brunch on Sunday. Y'all, I'm not kidding when I say these pancakes are amazing! If you are even somewhat a fan of banana, get the banana crunch pancake! One is all you need, and for a little over $3, it is well worth it. They are huge, taking up the plate. They also have fancy creamer, meaning name brand French vanilla and hazelnut. The atmosphere is bright and happy making me believe I'm on a Florida vacation. My kid brother loved his eggs and bacon, with good reviews from my mom and stepdad as well. It's great. Really, really great.

Another place that does the basics very well. We usually eat breakfast, so I'll isolate the review to that menu. They are always great at modifying things to fit our family's special needs, diet-wise. And it's consistently good. Worth the wait (there is usually quite a wait).

A Break-the-bank breakfast! When did a simple breakfast for 1 adult and small child cost $20?? $9 for hash. Really?? We have been going here for years. But we will have to check out other locally owned eateries for better food and more realistic prices.

Food is good, but not worth waiting over 35 minutes after ordering. Customer service at Cool Springs location is way better then Brentwood. Coffee is extremely strong... Left here and got coffee at Starbucks!

  • Ronette T.

Upon my 2nd try I must say this place is one of the best breakfast lunch & brunch cafes in the Brentwood area the food is a AAA+ & the server we had was FABULOUS she helped us decide on our meals by literally breaking almost everything down on the menu..... This place is definitely worth 5 stars

We like it here so much. There are so many good options on the menu, and they're all so fresh and creative. It's hard to choose, but we've liked everything we've had so far. Especially their specialty juices - try those of you have the opportunity. Good service, great food, good atmosphere. Couldn't ask for much more!

If you're unfamiliar with First Watch, it's a chain of breakfast-focused (though they do have some lunch sandwiches) restaurants open for what I like to call brunch hours. Their food is a step up in freshness and quality of ingredients when compared to other fast-casual places of a similar nature, excepting perhaps J. Christopher's (a smaller, more local chain) and the Egg and I (another small chain). They certainly blow Waffle House out of the water. Of the locations I've been to, this one is okay. I get my money's worth, and the food has never been slow. The place is usually a bit understaffed, but that's the curse of the modern-day restaurant business in a segment as competitive as this one. In short, I'd say this location of First Watch is 'A-OK'. If you're looking for breakfast in the Brentwood area, it is a viable option, perhaps even optimal, especially if you have a party of two, thanks to the large first-come, first-serve community table near the host stand. If you're going on Sunday, all bets are off -- don't get between Southerners and their after church brunch.

First Watch rocks it out. I'd never been, but i'd heard good things from friends. I had downloaded an iPhone app a while back called "NoWait" and noticed that First Watch is one of the few local businesses on it. Basically the app allows you to get into line before you arrive at the restaurant. When I got in line the wait was 41 minutes. When we got there, our table was ready. There were plenty of other people waiting, so I recommend it. As for the food, its very good. I had the Tri-Fecta which is Eggs, Bacon, and a Waffle, Pancake or French toast. it may not have the "Old Country" feel of Cracker Barrel, or the "Popularity" of Pancake Pantry, but considering the derth of Breakfast places in Nashville, I highly recommend First Watch.

I loved this place! Fresh, healthy, modern food--yummy. I would have had breakfast here every day of my recent business trip had I known about it. I'm going to rave about this place because it was so unique and good. If this was in my neighborhood, near Seattle, I would go there for sure. I had the avocado toast with basted eggs. I wasn't asked how I liked my eggs, and I didn't realize it came with them so they were overcooked for my taste but still good. The avocado toast is a winner! Chunks of avocado, salt and virgin olive oil on a thick whole grain toast was delicious and filling. The menu says there is Maldon Sea Salt in this, and perhaps there was, but the effect of this special flaked imported English salt is lost if you just mix it in. I hope the chef takes this comment to heart and sprinkles the flakes on top of the avocado in future. Then it will be the bomb plus plus! The pancakes on the menu came in five varieties, so I had to try one. Blueberry. Good stuff. Yes, I ordered two breakfasts. I ate half of each and was very happy. Yes, I was stuffed. Just when I was feeling a little food coma coming on, the Day Glow fresh juice I ordered arrived and all my sleepiness disappeared. I am not a juice nut, so the fact that I am craving that Day Glow drink days later says a lot. Fresh carrot, orange, and lemon juice with a sip of ginger and I felt like I could go all day. It was absolutely delicious. I want more!! Dear First Watch. Please move to my neighborhood!

My family and I were in town for a wedding and, not knowing the area at all, decided to smartphone search for brunch places, and found that First Watch was one of the few places near our hotel that was actually open on a Sunday - so that's the first plus. We were seated within the 5-10 minute window estimated by the hostess, who also kindly moved us to a booth to accommodate our kids' needs. We were also promptly greeted and served drinks by our server. She took our order in an appropriate amount of time and no mistakes were made in their preparation. She was also helpful in accommodating our special requests, but was a little slow in bringing coffee refills and the honey packets we asked for; she also forgot to put our bill onto 2 checks as we requested (hence the 4 stars instead of 5). The food was delicious and serving sizes were very generous, so don't let your eyes be bigger than your stomach! We would (and will) recommend to others and would (and will) go back on our next visit. Enjoy!

Review update: So, after our last review we were contact by customer service with an apology, which was a nice surprise. We gave brunch another try, though this time we went on a week day. Not nearly as busy, but still pretty full. We were seated right away and our server was with us promptly. Coffee took a minute but I wouldn't be surprised if they were flying through it. Our order was brought out relatively quickly, was correct in every aspect and delicious. We were waiting to check out, standing slightly away from the podium to not block the customers coming in and another customer had the nerve to try and push in before us to check out. The cashier handled it professionally and politely informed her there was a line then checked us out over the other woman's huffing. Seeing as how both visits involved pushy entitled customers I'm thinking it's just the norm for that area so I appreciate when the staff moves to correct such behaviour, though it makes me feel bad that they have to deal with it. Over all I would visit again, but probably only on the slower weekdays when I get a chance rather than risk that Sunday crowd with what seems to be uppity people.

A small brunch/lunch café in Brentwood, First Watch touts locally sourced ingredients mixed with old country café service and a constant stream of coffee. It's small and becomes crowded fast, especially since it, like so many places in the suburbs, is in a shopping center. But it was cozy and bright inside and they had a great selection of classic brunch options, such as hash and eggs benedict and omelets. Their roasted breakfast potatoes with onions are pretty darn good as well. I am not someone who ventures far from the downtown Nashville area, but when shopping on the outskirts is required, this will be a place I take into consideration for eating. I had the eggs benedict with bacon and avocado added. It was absolutely delicious, decadent, and coma-inducing. I was with a larger party and they did a great job of accommodating us relatively quickly for a weekend. I would highly recommend this place for an off the beaten path brunch.

It's hard to be real excited about breakfast food. However, they do it well. They also have sandwiches and other lunch time type items as well. Every time I've eaten there the food has been very good, and I've never been dissatisfied.

Got the "Lean Machine" that comes with one huge turkey patty, 3 tomato slices, and cholesterol-free eggs. It was a really yummy meal! Great place if you're watching your carb or protein intake.

Truly the best breakfast place in town. Great place to meet friends or associates. And the food. Usually you cannot eat all they give you and it's always great. The community table is really cool cause you don't have to wait for a smaller table. And you meet new people there too. All around a great place.

Not too shabby, First Watch!! Located in a suburb of Nashville, First Watch provided us with a delicious breakfast that tided us over until a party later on that night. The service was fast and friendly. My daughter devoured her french toast, and the same went for my son and his pancakes. My husband got some eggs/bacon, etc combo, and he seemed to enjoy it. The potatoes were really good! However, I really didn't care a whole lot for my veggie omelet. My personal preference is to have the ingredients mixed IN the omelet, not have the eggs"wrapped around" my veggies like a taco. I felt like I was eating either eggs OR veggies, so I wish they would have melded together more. It was $35 w/ tip for the four of us. So not bad, but next time I will order something different! :)

It's a really good spot... friendly staff, food was amazing, I highly HIGHLY recommend the Eggs Benedict. Only thing I recommend us ask for fresh cream, milk, half/half... don't use the un refrigerated ones from the table.

Great service, delicious food, nice atmosphere. It costs about the same as eating at IHOP but with way better food. It's close to our house, but even if it weren't we would be back! The coffee is strong and bitter. I couldn't drink it but my boyfriend liked it so it's certainly a matter of opinion. They provide healthy options and an over all win! Shout out to Menyana- Thank you for the excellent service! She was attentive and prompt and kept our drinks full. She rocks!

This place was a letdown. Here's my scorecard. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: - Walking in, first impression: it's not spotless. Most tables needed to be wiped down. - I was seated promptly, thank you. - Our server was enthusiastic. FOOD: - My omelet was okay but not great (I had the Via Veneto). The sausage was almost non-existent. And it was warm but not hot. - My potatoes were cold in spots. - My English muffin was way under-toasted, so it was limp and rubbery. And cold. So my food was kind of poor. I've had better breakfasts at cheap hotels, any Waffle House, and perhaps a few Denny's (this is not a compliment). Bottom line: this place could (should) be SO much better.

Something I wish I had known before my first occasion here was that it's certainly an upscale eatery, and you'll have to deal with uptight and pretentious "Brentwooders" before being able to enjoy your breakfast. Wear your Sunday best too, for fear of getting pitiful service otherwise due to your servers stereotyping. Anyhow, had I known all this I may have enjoyed by breakfast better... Despite this intro, the fruit was fresh and delicious, coffee was excellent, the muffin was incredible, and breakfast had large portions. About $15 per person it was certainly expensive for our intentions, however I could justify the price if returning for a nice brunch on the weekend. However, I do recall they don't serve bloodys or mimosas so definitely a strike against them for that. I don't know if they take reservations or not, but be prepared to wait. In the end, with a little mental preparation and ensuring I visit on a non-hangover morning, I think I would return in the future under the right circumstances.

I'm not around much during the average weekday since I travel for work. Today I was waiting for my vehicle to be serviced and need a place to camp...enter First Watch. Yum! The Quinoa Bowl has a little "back by popular demand" notation next to it on the menu...I can't believe they would have ever discontinued it...so so so good. Service was friendly...they didn't mind me camping out even though they were busy. I overheard my server being really helpful to other tables. I wish I had the recipe for the lemon basil/white balsamic dressing on my lunch. I don't even care if it has a zillion calories..that good! Can't promise I'll try anything else on my next visit, but I will try.

I had high expectations for this place based on the high-quality photography of their food you see online. I would describe it as Denny's meets Panera except with a combined cost. My wife and I had breakfast and each ordered an entree and coffee which with tip was almost $40. The food was good but essentially tasted like the breakfast we make ourselves at home. There are some exciting options on the menu. Considering all of the breakfast alternatives within a 5-10 minute drive we may or may not consider going back - mainly due to the price.

Servers were nice and the food was tolerable. I had the eggs be medic with ham and tomato, the ham was like deli mean and left a weird taste to the rest of the dish, and they put way too much ham on it, making it overwhelm everything else. The coffee here is TERRIBLE!!!! We thought it might have just been old, but after asking for a fresh pot it still tasted old and bitter. The carrot cake pancake was good, if a bit too sweet, but it was still good, and the seasoned potatoes were good. Probably won't come back here again, not saying it's horrible, but nothing about it would entice me to come back.

Eh. Chain-crazy. Enter at your own risk...but the food's decent. I had the turkey burger, which was all spices to cover the crappy flavor of turkey burger. My bad for ordering it. Personality free - decent service. The white mugs, etc reek of convenience. Definitely go before church 11 on a Sunday. And enjoy your satisfactory brunch!

  • Dana F.

In almost every way they are five stars - super nice staff, excellent food choices, a breakfast bar where singles and 2-person groups can jump the wait queue. However, they lose a star because their wait for food and server attention is just a little too long, especially on weekends. I go there at least once every weekend and I don't think I've ever had less than a 30-minute wait for my food, and I'm always by myself. I understand they're a busy place and the list of tickets in the kitchen is very long, but I feel like they could address that and hire and expand facilities. But seriously, still my fave breakfast place in Nashville by a mile. I'm obviously willing to wait!

Meh! First Watch is a chain. I used to like going there in Ohio. Somehow here it feels like an afterthought. Everything was average - the food, the coffee, the ambiance, especially the food. It feels like another result from a cookie cutter mold - the drab colors, the symmetric furniture, the cheap prints that pass off as paintings, etc. The food was edible, but not delectable. What was royal icing on the average cake was the free WiFi but required a user name and login. Not cool.

Very good food and excellent service. We were there at noon on Sun. Dec 9th . we waited about 20 minutes for a table.. Gunnar was a excellent friendly server. I had the avocado, bacon tomato hash it was very good.my niece had a very large kids chocolate pancake it was also good. My wife had the fresh fruit crepes they were good too. By joining there email list we hot a BOGO free entree. So we got 3 meals for $20. We will return soon.

First Watch is a place that could easily get a higher rating from me if I were rating the food and food alone. There's a lot of variety, and a lot of fresh tasting, and great plates. Breakfast, Brunch or Lunch, they've definitely got some great food. To say the service leads something to be desired is an understatement, unfortunately. The staff is all very nice and helpful, and I don't put a single person at fault - I think the organization must be lacking. The food takes longer than you'd expect, the wait staff seems to be dealing with too many tables at once, so you end up going unnoticed, drinks sometimes never arrive until your food does. It makes it even harder when there's been a mistake in your order and you can't find a waiter at all. We've tried and tried, then waited a number of months and tried again. Same problems. Normally I'd say that the food is worth the wait, and the issues are easy to look past once you get your food - but unfortunately they're not. Things end up taking so long and can be so frustrating at times that all you remember is the bad - so much so that whenever we're discussing brunch, First Watch is always crossed off the list purely due to the service. On top of that, the coffee is pretty bland and stale. If you do go, I'd recommend the carrot cake pancakes. They're great... if you don't mind the wait.

I've tried a few different First Watch locations which are typically located in higher end area. First Watch does not disappoint when it comes to a great breakfast/brunch menu but they are lacking in service. I recommend the Bacavo omelet to anyone who's a bacon fan. The homestyle potatoes were also excellent and seasoned very well. The service was okay once we were seated but we had to wait for over 45 minutes for a tables although there were quite a few available tables empty for over 15-20 minutes during our wait.

First Watch is like pulling the full service restaurant out of a business level hotel (think Courtyard) and putting it in a strip mall. You can't help but feel that the place was conceived of and designed in a very corporate marketing department's conference room. Everything is sterile and packaged straight from the corporate office. The decor is sparse and the greenery is plastic. I can't help but think of diet programs when I look at the logo, but that's really not the point of First Watch. But aside from the lack of personality, the food was good. The menu has a healthy "feeling" but I'm not so sure that it really is healthy. I had a beefeater sandwich, roast beef, served on grilled Parmesan encrusted sourdough bread with a side of mild horseradish sauce and tomato basil soup. Overall good flavors. The soup was good too. It felt like it was probably made offsite, but other reviewers seem to indicate that they do make their food with fresh ingredients each day. Overall it seems like a dressed up, healthier, cleaner, more consistent version of IHOP. That's not a bad thing. I like IHOP - except that it is dirty, lacking in anything remotely healthy, and terribly inconsistent from one location to the next. So in that sense, First Watch succeeds in being the answer for someone who wants pancakes for lunch without the layer of filth at the other breakfast all day places. I should also mention that the price for what you get was very reasonable. And for the record, Courtyard's Bistro's are good too. They are consistent and predictable, which I suppose is a plus, unless you like a surprise standout dish even if it mean and occasional disappointment.

We stopped in on our drive home from Louisville to Birmingham. It was....ok. David accidentally ordered the french toast that was wheat germ. I didn't understand why he wanted it, but I was impressed as it seemed healthier. He really just wanted the fruit, had no idea it was a different bread. So that was disappointing to him. I had one of the omelettes. Our server was really struggling on this particular morning. He seemed very off and we were not the only patrons who saw it. Next time, we'll try something different. But it was....ok.

She rocks!

Great place to have breakfast or brunch! Glad to see one is opening in cool springs also! Their quinoa power bowls are the best!

Not cool.

Yum. Yum.

Today we had fast service. My BLTE sandwich was hot and perfect and the soup came hot. Wish they had had more variety on soups but my lunch experience was spot on today
