I was excited to finally get off-site after a week (of work) to have a meat-and-3, and I had been eyeing Bantam for quite some time. Unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. A lot of people seem to go here for the ice cream. It is certainly a local favorite, from what I saw. The offerings are straighforward, but the pricing is fairly steep for a simple mom-and-pop eatery. My meal tipped $8, whereas I am used to paying roughly $6 for a meat and 3. It comes with tea and a roll, but I would have preferred cornbread. The pork chop was dry, the mac and cheese was room temperature, and the turnip greens were watered down. Everything was also very underseasoned. I am especially sodium-dependent because I have had a whole bunch of salt-laden country ham whilst in the. The saving grace of the meal was the corn nuggets. They were crisp, creamy, and just the right amount of runny on the inside. Do choose these as a side if you are going with a meat and veggie option. Bantam Chef is a passable quick meal option if you are passing through Pickens, but I would shoot for something a bit better if possible!
