Stopped by for lunch. Easy to miss this place as there are no other restaurants around. The fried shrimp Po' boy was great! The raw oyster were delicious. Small place with limited seating but could be worth the wait.

Awesome place with very fresh seafood. Small place, only seats 20, great guys that own the place and very creative with their ingredients. Ceviche was to die for! I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys fresh seafood.

This is a very good, small spot for fresh seafood, but it's hardly perfect. The lobster roll was delicious, but for lobster roll purists like myself, there was too much sauce and seasoning going on. The same was true for the fried oyster taco; I'd have loved to taste even more oyster. In both cases, the bread was so good it almost overpowered the fish. And my wife's tuna was tough - it was actually difficult to eat, which seemed unusual for a place that is known in part for their tuna tacos; I assume that was an aberration and won't hold that in particular against them (they offered to serve her another). The key lime pie was very good but nothing too special. All in all, it's got a great vibe with excellent service, and the food is good, but they could let their main ingredients stand out a bit more.

Lobstah rolls and poke - shoots I'm in heaven! The do have a great selection of quality fish and seafood to take out and cook yourself or grab a stool, some real sugar Coke in a bottle and have a seat while they make your some grub. I got some poke for a quick snack/lunch. Fresh fried corn tortilla chips. Not that frozen bag stuff - real fresh corn tortillas fried and hot. The poke is light, tasted like a ponzu and sesame light glaze with just a light chopped parsley to bring it all home. Not heavy and very refreshing. I never had poke on chips before, but I'm a fan. I am waiting to get my lobster till for next time, but the lady I sat next to ordered one and it's freakin' huge! I've had lobster rolls from Florida to Nova Scotia, but seriously this had more meat than I've ever seen on a roll before. Real Coke. It's the details that matter and they're serving Coke in a bottle made with real sugar and not HFS. If you can't taste and feel the difference between the two, then you're probably going to miss the nuance of what quality seafood tastes like too. They have live Maine lobsters - big ones for sell as well as fresh, wild caught Scottish salmon. Also some beautiful bay scallops that looked like U5/6. Raw oysters, clams, and other shellfish on the menu to stay and eat it take home and enjoy. There's not much seating here, so either be ready to wait or make some friends at the bar while you're eating the best poke I've had in Charleston. 167 Raw is doing it right and I wouldn't be surprised at all to see another location pop up in the charleston area soon.

I love this place. Small place which makes it good to meet folks. If you like seafood that is not fried then this is your place. The large selection of oysters is fantastic. Good good, great beer, excellent wine.

For those that read my reviews, you know I value a great experience over anything else when dining out. Treat me like I'm important and I'll overlook average food. I'm here to tell you that at 167 Raw, you'll be overwhelmed with the service and the food! The lobster roll is the best I've eaten. The swordfish taco was great, but the pork carnitas is the superstar of this cozy little (seats 22) joint. When in Charleston, you must go to 167. It'll make you smile real BIG!

We have certainly become regulars here since we can't stay away for long. This is our favorite restaurant in chas for seafood (and probably favorite in general). Kyle and his staff are great, and we look for any excuse to have a fish taco (or two!) and grab a cold beer at the counter. Have loved watching them expand and recently enjoyed the new outdoor patio. Bravo yall - this place is a winner!!!

  • Jeff K.

EXCELLENT fresh seafood. Reasonable prices also. We are very glad that we came to this small establishment, instead of the big tourist trap places. We had the fish civiche (haddock today), fish tacos and carnitas. Everything was just great.

The lobster roll was amazing, so much lobster meat and so very tasty! It was pretty pricey at $18 for a sandwich but worth it. I posted a picture of my half so you can see how big just half a sandwich is if you decide to split with a friend like me. Also tried the poke which is not on the menu but tasted very fresh and came with house made chips too. Can't wait to try some more of the oysters at happy hour for half off, it is hard to have just one.

TINY tiny dining room where my 'table for one' was a marble slab fixed to a narrow stretch of the wall adjacent to the entrance. I happily gobbled my flounder sandwich from my awkward perch and can't wait to go back. Great menu, terrific staff and delicious seafood!

Wow!! Truly a 5 star experience! The place is extremely small, so we were lucky to cram our group of 4 in... We did go for a very early dinner, at 5pm, just for that reason. I would definitely recommend stopping in at an "off" hour, or you may be sorely disappointed. The atmosphere is fun and friendly. One of the owners waited on us, and was extremely personable. Food is fresh fresh fresh. No complicated recipes or prep here - they let the food speak for itself. The lobster roll was the best I've ever had. Will be back... Hopefully sooner rather than later!

Ok.. being from New England the Lobster roll was top notch. Mind you the the Lobster is all claw. The prepared it to perfection.. sauce and all. 18.dolars per ..... fyi. I had ordered a second.

Make this a must visit if you're in town. Third day visiting and this was the best meal we've had since and that's saying a lot in this city. Great young guys worked there and made conversation with us. We sat at the bar and watched him prepare our food. Fresh fried chips for the guacamole and the browning of the bun for the lobster roll. Also got two free oysters with our yelp check in. This place has only been open 6 months and is hugely popular. I'm going to recommend this to everyone I know!!

Amazing seafood, had the fish taco, lobster roll, and oysters. Can't go wrong. Best food we've had on trip, easily.

Oh me oh my! This place is cute, and the food is delicious. If I could I would marry 167 Raw! Thank goodness I am from Seattle and not Charleston because this place would break my bank. I had the lobster roll and the bread was soft and buttery and the lobster was fresh and the sauce and toppings were simple and played up the flavor of the lobster well. The dining room is super small but tastefully decorated and simple. If you are contemplating coming here just do it. Forget how much the lobster roll costs- (about $20) because it is so worth it. Yummm

Holy sh*t. Mmmm. Tuna burger and key lime pie my favorites. This place is what you dream of in a seafood lunch place when you're near the coast.

I have wanted to eat here since they opened and happened to be downtown for work, so I finally stopped in. Simple, clean design made up of some long counters, a refrigerator with drinks/takeaway items. Immediately, I was greeted by genuinely friendly and enthusiastic people behind the counter. Menu is simple but if you seek out fresh oysters and seafood sandwiches, this is the place to go. I had the lobster roll and booooooy, did it deliver. Large, buttery chunks of lobster, tossed lightly with mayo and nicely seasoned. The crowning touch was the crispy, buttery roll. I would eat the roll on its own (it's that delicious). Topped it off with a cold Mexican Coke (in a glass bottle). Fairly priced, fresh, tasty, served by nice people. What more can you ask for? Definitely will be back.

The food here is amazing, not only in its aesthetic but also in its state. I had the fish taco: tuna with a tomato sauce. It was so delicious and I wanted another one. The waiter was so accommodating to my dietary restrictions. I also had the guacamole and chips as an appetizer and it was great. I just wish I would've taken a picture before I devoured the food. :)

Had the pleasure of swinging into 167 raw for lunch today with a few friends. It's a small place and was very busy but the guys working were quick to greet us and get us started off with a cold beer while we waited for a spot at the bar. After a quick wait we were sat in the bar seating and I highly recommend it. I love being able to see them shuck oysters and slice fresh fish for your meal, how awesome! For lunch we shared a grouper ceviche, which was excellent. When we finished we had a few remaining chips that we used to sop up the extra citrus. Delicious! We also had a lobster roll and fish tacos. The lobster roll was loaded with huge chunks of delicious lobster and the roll itself was buttery and soft, by far the best I've had and it got a big thumbs up from my friend from Massachusetts too! Id love to tell you about the fish tacos but they were devoured before I got the chance. Amazing food, great beers, and quick service by a great group of guys. Thanks for a great lunch, 167, can't wait to see yall again!

  • Linnet T.

Fabulous, fun little spot for lunch, other than the likely wait at this tiny, chic raw oyster and seafood spot! Split the ceviche of the day for a starter - very bright, fresh flavors served with home fried tortilla triangles. Then had a very tasty crispy oyster taco, which had three or four perfect oysters in it, and a pork carnita taco. The pork had been slow cooked with seasonings for 10 hours then flash fried resulting in a tantalizing crispy coating and meltingly tender interior meat. YUM! Had a tasty local brew with it - Westbrook White Thai Witbier, with citrus notes. Perfect accompaniment to a fun lunch! Would love to return for the raw oysters, lobster roll and more! The signboard advertised key lime pie, but alas, we were too full to sample it! Go for a late lunch to avoid a wait!

This is a gem in Charleston for sure. The food is incredible and the service is very personal. The vibe and feel to the place makes it stand out against really anything else in the area. It looks like a very modern, up-scale restaurant, despite its size. My hangup would be the fact that it seemed as though there were a lot of people working, but no one was really putting forth the hustle needed to turn tables over. It was a crazy busy weekend, and I'm sure it had everything to do with the fact that everyone working probably worked the night prior. It took a very long time for food to come out, and as people were coming to the door, they were all told 45 minutes or so (even though it would have been about 15-20 minutes for a table). Kind of strange and not what we had expected from this kind of place. Maybe it was just a one-time slip on service due to pure exhaustion, but the food was excellent when it did come out!

The oysters were so fresh and delicious! Great service, too! Will definitely come back

Good place for fresh oysters and fish taco. Had the tuna pokè and fish tacos. Also had the key lime pie. Excellent establishment.

  • Chris C.

Visited for a late lunch last week. As reported by others, really small place with only room for around 20 people. All the food was very fresh and tasted great. Had raw oysters, chips and guacamole and a variety of tacos (fish, fried oyster and pork). Also had Key Lime pie. Would recommend all of it. Only reason for 4 stars vs 5 is the tight seating.

  • Jeremiah G.

Stopped here for lunch on our last day in Charleston. This was definitely a wonderful experience ! We started with a dozen oysters (a sample of a few kinds) and one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had! After seeing another couple order the black grouper Cheviche I had to try it as well . It was delivered with some of the best home made guacamole and chips, totally phenomenal --- it was a bit pricey, but the quality of food made it worth the cost! I look forward to returning soon .

Tiny place but the seafood is so fresh and the atmosphere is great. Would probably have a hard time getting a seat during peak hours since they can only seat about 15 people at a time. I like sitting at restaurant bars where you can see them preparing the food, which you could to a small degree here. The staff was great. The two guys who own the place were there and working. I believe they're from New England. Seemed like good people. Good prices and great food.

  • Anita N.

His is such a great find. Pure, fresh food done right. We had oysters from different regions and were able to taste the differences between regions. The ceviche, shrimp taco and oyster taco are so good that I still remember it from a month ago. This spot is bookmarked and will definitely be my regular go to for fresh Charleston seafood.

  • Eric S.

Lobster roll was fantastic. The fish taco was decent, not my favorite. Very small and low key, but perfect for a quick meal. The service was timely and on point. Get the lobster roll if you decide to swing by.

Incredibly fresh seafood with awesome wines available. Cannot go wrong with anything here.

  • Oscar L.

Such a cool little spot! Wife and I stopped here for lunch as soon as we arrived in Charleston and got a seat at the kitchen bar which was cool. The ceviche and lobster rolls are both amazing. You really get a decent amount of lobster meat for the price and the roll is out this world. Can't say enough good things about this place!

  • Mike A.

We stopped in for lunch. I had the lobster roll and it was outstanding! My wife had the swordfish taco and it was outstanding also. This is a great place. We also shared a piece of Key Lime pie, it was good but not the best I ever had. I would really come to this place again. Remember, it is really small but cute. You have to try this restaurant, it's the bomb!

Amazing restaurant, great atmosphere, and great service. We had the chips and guacamole, lobster roll, and 2 pork tacos - all were outstanding. Would recommend to anyone.

    (5)
  • Lizzie M.

The food, atmosphere and service were amazing. The oysters were fresh and some of the best I've had (even in New England). The only downside is the limited space so the wait for a table was long, we hope they get a bigger space!! We will definitely come back!

After reading all of the amazing reviews on yelp, I decided to give this place a shot and I had some of the best food and service ever. The place is a bit tiny but it's quaint, luckily when I went (in the afternoon on a Saturday) I didn't have to wait. I went in originally planning on having the lobster roll but after ordering half a dozen oysters (2 types-both delicious), I decided to go with a few tacos. I ordered the fish taco (grilled mahi) and the pork and I really can't describe how wonderful they were. I am somewhat of a fish taco snob and 167 Raw took my expectations to a whole nother level, the pork was incredible as well. Not to mention the server/owner? was very personable and genuinely cared what his customers thought of their meals/experiences. I wish I would have had time to try the homemade guac, the woman next to me informed me it was fantastic. I hope to make it back here before I leave town. A++

Really I would give this 2.5 stars. Cheep beer. The service was good. Korean Style BBQ shrimp, edible. Tuna burger, very good. Maui Taco, borderline inedible. Carnita taco, okay, nice finish. Oyster Po' Boy, pretty good. Overall okay experience, I would come back if my friends wanted to try it, but I wouldn't go out of my way. Meh.

  • Deb R.

I thought the lobster roll was "it"...and then Chef Sean introduced the tuna burger. It's to DIE for!

Food is out of this world! You pay for the fresh seafood that you get, but it is hard to get higher quality.

Simply awesome. The best seafood you are going to find in Charleston. Awesome selection of oysters, tacos, and wines. You gotta go there!

Best Lobster roll ever!!! Wait staff excellent!!! 2 brothers!!! Had shrimp cocktail and crab claws for appetizer! Wait staff amazing!!! Small venue

  • Dylan G.

Awesome food and amazing staff! Had an encounter with each worker on shift, everyone was so helpful and pleasant. No in your face "everything ok?!" wait staff. Very cool little spot, intimate atmosphere where you can see the food prepared. A must try! Very small place so don't try to go with group over 4 people. Very enjoyable though!

The best meal during our Charleston vacation, 167 Raw. The dining room is tight, but comfortable and casual. Lobster roll for my wife and a tuna burger for me, both excellent. From the lobster and tuna to the buns they were served on, the meal was perfect. Highly recommended.

Great fish mongers! They hail from from red six nation but don't hold it against them! Go Yankees! Seriously fresh seafood and knowledgeable staff. We have been getting our weekly salmon here and its always been perfect. We stopped in and ordered two fish Taco's which were the best I ever had. My wife and I shared a beer and sat watching chef prepare the food in an open kitchen. They have a half dozen stools for eating in and cold beer. Very friendly staff and I can't wait to try the lobster roll! It won't break the bank, y'all be pleased

  • J N.

Stopped in for lunch on a whim just because it is close and it turned out to be the best stop on our vacation! We had the poke, fish and shrimp tacos and the blue fin pate. All great. The Chef was fun to watch and great to talk to. We will go here as often as we can while in Charleston.

  • Jonathan J.

Really, really good. Started with ceviche (sp?) then wife and I shared tuna burger and scallop PO Boy. Everything super fresh and delicious. Limited menu but enough choices to please seafood foodies. Attentive service. Be prepared to wait for seating as the restaurant has approx. 20 seats. But, have a drink or two and enjoy the atmosphere. Food is well worth any wait.

  • Jason V.

Lobster roll market price $26 (very good, but I can name better). The fish sandwich at $14 was a much better value and also very good. Cape Cod potato chips complete the pricey meal. Would have given 4 stars but my glass had lipstick on it and instead of giving me a new beer in a new clean glass, he poured my beer into the new glass, dude I am paying $65 for 2 sandwiches and chips for lunch. Good to very good food at very high to extremely high prices, average to below average service.

  • Julann C.

Very small place but friendly bunch. The oysters were great, three different kinds and no crackers but they were fabulous.

    (4)
  • Kris F.

Fantastic place for a laid back, top notch seafood experience. The oysters were super fresh and the assortment was outstanding. The guys that run the place are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Ceviche is a must along with the local beer and as many raw oysters as you can handle. We are oyster fanatics so we skipped many of the other items although they all looked amazing. Will definitely be back next time we are in town.

The best seafood hands down - service staff were knowledgeable and excellent hosts !! Can't wait to return!

I first went to 167 Raw in February after relocating to Charleston. The restaurant sits not even a block up from my office so it was beckoning me to come over and say hi. So I did and they 167 Raw answered with the most scrumptious lobster roll ever! The lobster is sweet and meaty while the star that steals the show is the soft, buttery, toasty roll they serve it on. Just like James Bond, you need a sexy car to roll up at the Casino Royal and that's exactly what this thing is. An Aston Martin DB9. Caution! It can be pricey so go during lobster season. But don't let the lobster roll define you dear 167 Raw. You have so much more to offer! You have tasty oyster tacos and tantalizing shrimp. You serve the cities BEST looking plates of oysters on the half shell. Even though I don't eat them. Get there early! Less you be wait'en. Seating inside is limited and let's face it, people in this town like to sit a spell. Be patient young grass hopper. For if you do, you will surely be rewarded with a great dining experience.

  • Francesca D.

Nice little space, and by littler I mean tiny and super casual. Menu was also very limited, however the lobster roll was fantastic. It was expensive, but well worth it. I give it 4 stars for the awkward ambiance, only counter stools and maybe a total of 8. I can't imagine this place on a busy night. Next time I will get the lobster roll to-go.

  • Dani Y.

Hands down the freshest seafood I have had in SC with amazing prices. Great cozy atmosphere- an awesome place to stop in and eat anything from a sampler platter (including oysters, clams and shrimp) to a lobster roll overflowing with huge chunks of lobster. However, one of the most amazing parts of this spot have to be the prices of this fish. I have struggled for years trying to find good, fresh fish that doesn't break the bank. Unfortunately, whole foods- aka whole pay check- has been the only option... up until now. Not only do these guys offer awesome looking hunks of amazing fish, they have fresh guacamole, cocktail shrimp, bluefish pate, summer corn salsa, and much more to accompany your fish and make for an insane dinner. For those of you who don't want to go sit and socialize at the raw bar, grab some fish to go and enjoy the flavors of 167 in the privacy of your own home. You won't be disappointed and I assure you you'll be running back for more.

Hats off! Energetic group of young guys show their passion for great food & pride in their work. Every dish we tried knocked it out of the park. Fresh, perfectly balanced flavors made our pallets dance. Not the most relaxing dinner experience, as the small place is overly crowded, but once you taste the food, you don't care.

  • Tom M.

Lobster rolls were so good that we ordered 3 of them! Fish taco with halibut and Shrimp taco were very good as well. Lobster roll was pricy at $24 each. Enjoyed the service!

Amazing. Quaint on the inside with just a few tables. Fresh fish and oysters. Friendly, young staff. The Tuna Burger is a must!!

Great find. I was trying to find a lunch spot to grab a quick bite before heading over to grab the ferry to Ft. Sumter on a recent trip to Charleston. My first choice was closed on Mondays, so I was scrounging around looking for a place. I found 167 Raw on Yelp, and the reviews sounded great. I've grown up in the South, live in the Mid-Atlantic now, and have vacationed in New England, so I knew this was the place for me. I was happy to find a seat the bar as soon as I walked in. The servers are a collection of bro's, which totally fit with the laid-back, coastal attitude. Being a solo diner from out of town, I appreciated the fact that he asked me if I'd been there before and wanted to know where else I had eaten since being in town. I mentioned another place I'd gone the night before that serves similar food, but in a fine dining setting. He mentioned that both staff frequent eachother's places, which I see as a good sign for any restaurant. It was clear that this place is full of guys who care about the food they serve. I took a look at the menu, and having eaten oysters the night before, and about to board a boat, decided to get the only shellfish I hadn't yet had on my trip, the lobster roll. It arrived quickly with a hot, toasted bun, large, well-dressed pieces of Maine lobster, and a FANTASTIC pickled medley of cucumber, squash, jicima, and cauliflower. Excellent. A few dollars more than what I pay in the DC area for a similar meal, but guess I have to take into account the lobbies are traveling a bit further south. The buns are locally-made at the Butcher and the Bee, which was on my list for places to get to, but I couldn't fit it in. After I paid and booked it over to make the ferry, I heard a voice calling out behind me. I thought maybe I left something on the counter, but it was my server rushing after to hand me a beer coozie; "a little something to remember your trip." It was such a nice touch. I'll be back for sure.

Awesome find. The Shrimp Po Boy was delicious and so was the oysters. Next time I'll try the lobster roll.

The best of the best. If you're serious about oysters, then this is your place. The staff knows what you want before you do. I'll be back.

All the food we tried was amazing. The fish tacos were the best I have ever had. Small little place. Prices were reasonable.

  • Amanda G.

Went here for lunch today and had Kiawah Cup oysters, a mix of tacos (oyster, pork carnita, and fish, which was flounder today). Finished with a slice of key lime pie. Everything was delicious, but I think the standout was the carnita taco.

  • Ken C.

This is a great little casual place. Seats maybe 16 or 20. Although small, the food is excellent. They have a limited menu, so don't go expecting a full restaurant. We had fried oysters, raw oysters, oyster taco, shrimp, and clams. Everything was outstanding. Everyone raves about the lobster roll. We'll come back for that next time. Wait staff was efficient and friendly.

  • Quan N.

Pretty good stuff! Fresh. Small. Local. Quaint. Its a bit pricey from what i'm used to in the west coast but i mean i cant complain if its coming from the harbor a few blocks down right? The ahi poke is a little salty for me. Too much soy sauce. The seafood tacos are alright too. I give three stars because theres nothing really special.

    (3)
  • Melissa W.

Best seafood we've ever had. Ceviche, fish tacos and shrimp cocktail were amazing. Kyle made everyone feel very welcome. Wonderful find. We'll definitely be back!

This place deserves beyond 5 stars. I lived in New England for 24 years and not only ate every lobster roll I came across but also ate a LOT of lobster. This was the best cooked lobster I have ever had, hands down, even better than top-rated restaurants I've eaten at on the Cape and in Maine. It was extremely tender. The grilled buttered roll was perfect. I'm actually considering driving 4 hours to get another one as I remember it. The fish sandwich of the day was great and beer and wine were delicious and reasonably priced. Chowder had the best flavor bit potatoes were cooked a little under. The restaurant is SMALL. We waited for a bit for a table for 2, and it was really hot in there. If the food and friendly service hadn't been so good, this review would have been very different. I hope they get some air conditioning before I return, but if not I'll sweat it out for that lobster!

Nothing but amazing things to say! Smiling and amazingly hard working staff, great vibes and cold tasty local beers. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu! Definitely get the ceviche because the fresh made chips are unbelievable. Chat with the chef if you can! Can't wait to go back! Cheers to you for an amazing lunch! Xo

Halibut ceviche and fresh catch salad = delicious. Oysters are insanely good too... In fact everything on the menu is outstanding. Well worth the wait.

  • Jax S.

I really liked this place, I would give it 5 stars if it had a bigger selection, and parking. Also, I'm a Southerner, we like saltines with our oysters and I didn't realize they didn't/don't have crackers to go with the oysters. The oyster sampler was very good, and the wait staff can explain what type to go with if you're not familiar (size, brine, etc.) Oddly, my favorite entree was the pork carnitas taco! Yes, I'm at a seafood place eating a carnita, it was so good I had TWO of them, and my wife ordered one after we had eaten the oysters and stone crab claws. It was like heaven in my mouth! Seating is very limited, but people seemed to get in and out fairly quickly. If you park too long across the street at HT, I hear you will get booted (your tire), and parking on the side streets is residential with a one hour limit w/o a residential hang tag. If in the area, check it out for the oysters and carnitas!

  • James L.

The food here is pretty much without fault. The ceviche is perfection. Oysters tasted right out of the water, and the tuna in the tuna burger was almost too good to make into a burger. We wanted to try the lobster roll, but they were out. Oh well. Service was great with one glaring exception: This place has a bad apple. One of the taller staff has a real 'i'm too good for this job or you' attitude - and not in that direct sort of NE way - just more of a total d1ck way. It really stood out again the other guys who were at least pretending that they didn't hate the people paying their wages.

Best Lobster Roll I have ever eaten. The space has lots of character. The staff is super friendly and told me the only bar that I could find that served decent craft cocktails in Charleston.

Excellent fresh seafood. The seasonal oysters were everything a fresh oyster should be. All of us ordered the lobster roll which was delicious. Upon return I would love to try the tuna burger.

Ideal. The perfect Around-the-Corner raw bar with terrific bivalves and lots of nice beers and wines to go with them. If you're into oysters, get an assortment of a dozen or so and a Westbrook IPA. That's a beautiful lunch of crisp flavors and guilt-free indulgence. The place is small but even if you have to wait a few minutes for a spot at the bar, it's totally worth it. Can't believe I had to come from Rhode Island all the way to South Carolina to find a place like this. I'll be back again before I have to go home to the frozen North.

At least, 3 dollar signs. It might be even a 4 dollar sign establishment. Mom and dad said the local oysters weren't as big or as the flavorful as other establishments. My niece and my lobster roll was perfection, though. Definitely a popular local place so others enjoyed the place more than we did.

We love the southern food of Charleston and this is such a great change of pace. Yea, there are other seafood places but this is like someone carved out 300 sq ft and transplanted a New England raw bar in it's place. The lobster roll is a must. The ceviche 'pod' with flavor and freshness and come with house made tortilla chips. The chowda has a lightness and tons of flavor. The staff is super friendly while constantly tweaking the dishes. Be prepared to wait, it seats less than 20 but it's flat out worth it! I'm sure they will be relocating to bigger digs when they can!

Unbelievable food. In a city packed with seafood restaurants, 167 Raw still manages to stand out. I was impressed with the well-curated menu. There were only about 15 items on the menu (including one dessert - a divine key lime pie) and I got the sense that you simply could not go wrong with any of them. Shoutout to the amazing lobster roll - large chunks of lobster in a crispy, buttery, slightly-sweet roll. On food alone, this would be 5-stars, hands down. The service is where it loses me. There were about 6 people when we walked in and about 5 staff cooking, serving, prepping, etc. Despite the favorable ratio, it was kind of an awkward experience. Nobody greeted us when we walked in and there was no indication whether we should seat ourselves or wait for someone's help. After a few minutes loitering by the door, we sat at the counter and looked over the menu. One of the cooks behind the counter greeted us, and left it at that. No one asked us for our order, gave us recommendations, or spoke to us, so we finally just told the chef what we wanted. I would recommend this place based on food alone, but it has a ways to go to make patrons feel welcome.

This is THE place to go for oysters in Charleston! Great selection, about 6 different kinds both east & west coast.

  • Sehaj S.

Just had a takeout lobster roll, but it was the absolute best lobster roll I've ever had. The roll itself was very nice and sturdy, and had a lovely garlic butter brushed on it. The lobster was HUGE chunks of claw and knuckle, with just a thin layer of mayo throughout. Absolutely scrumptious.

  • Rebecca T.

Service was outstanding. Seafood was as fresh as possible. Nothing was overly salted. They could use a bit more A/C as we sat at the cooking counter. But it was our best meal in a four day visit to Charleston!

If you are walking around blocks debating which seafood you should have, look no further. This small, but delightfully live venue will have you questioning why you haven't eaten more oysters in your life. The food is absolutely amazing, and the fish sandwich is to die for. You will be more than content when walking out that door.

Awesome lobster roll! I grew up in Ct. Pulling lobsters put of pots and this was a little bite of home! The little neck clams were top notch. The serve them with a scallop mignonette that was delish!

A culinary education for Oysters on the half shell. Watching Kyle shuck and then meticoulously go thru for any shell pieces is just part of the experience. Also had the homemade chunky Guac and homemade chips- Off the charts.. Limited menu is a nice change of pace as well.. This place will do great. FP

Hard to find a better raw bar/seafood cafe/fish market. I've never been a yelper before but felt the need to get on board. This place rocks !!! . What they do, they do to perfection. This isn't fine dining, it's a fish market turned restaurant. Staff is extremely personable, fun young guys. Oh yea...167Raw's oysters are truly delicious!. My wife and I each time sampled multiple delicious varieties. My favorite oyster was the Wallace Strait, my wife loved the Kiawah Cup the best. They have a medley of sauces which blew us away. our favorite was their house cocktail sauce. It cannot be missed. Next was the lobster roll, oh lord was possibly the tastiest treat I've eaten in as long as I can remember. My wife had the oyster and carintas tacos (I snuck two bites) and wow. Also top notch. rarely do restaurants live upto the hype, 167Raw met that and some. My next trip I want to try their tuna burger !

The simplicity and unpretentiousness of this place mean one thing: the focus is on serving amazing food. The raw bar is some of the freshest I've had, the rest of the menu is awesome, and the staff is wonderful.

A delightful find! Eater was spot on. Teeny place w/counter seating. We hope it never grows too large. Cozy, kind guys-nice entrepreneurial vibe. Refreshingly good! Since spending our summers in Maine & MA ...we just about gave up on finding an authentic lobster roll in the low country. Never fear: this is the place. We are obsessed

This place is awesome!! Stopped in for lunch with a friend while we were visiting Charleston, we were both very hungover but 167 Raw really hit the spot. I had the lobster roll and my friend had the tuna tacos, both were delicious. The guys working were really friendly and service was quick. Dan made our food and he was hilarious. Will definitely be going back on my next trip to Charleston!

Excellent staff from the NE states with great service, excellent food. Always a great experience. It's small though so be mindful before you try to go here with 4 people at 7pm on a weekend night. The ceviche and all the tacos are absolutely marvelous. The prices are great too - around 5 or $6 for large fresh tacos. Go! You won't regret it!

  • Staci T.

We lucked into an uncrowded restaurant for a late lunch. Greeted by friendly staff, a seat watching them prepare the meals and ended up with the restaurant to ourselves. We enjoyed some local brews and OUTSTANDING food. We shared the sea scallops po boy, shrimp tacos and oyster tacos. The brown butter beet sauce was delicious, a little messy, but delicious. May need to return for some guacamole to go.

Kyle and his friends are going to make 167 Raw a destination. Intimate and friendly. Warm hospitality and top notch seafood choices. Whether you are looking for a choice filet to cook at home or a seriously good raw bar experience...I say of 167 Raw...oh, "Hell, Yes".

Amazing lobster roll and oyster tacos, friendly environment, and gorgeous simple presentations. Great for a casual lunch, not a whole lot of seating if you have a large group. They have a fantastic fresh seafood market as well as some prepared foods. I would strongly recommend this place.

Unexpected and unplanned visit for lunch, we went on a recommendation from our waiter Johnny at Cru Cafe and we're not disappointed. Everything in this place is fresh; the seafood, the ingredients, the menu. Just my speed as far as high quality, fresh, and with plenty of healthy options, I wholeheartedly recommend 167 Raw. Owner/chefs are straight up nice guys to boot. We'll definitely be back our next time in town.

Delightful lunch our first day walking around Charleston. I'm so glad I followed my Yelp instinct and sought this tiny place out, because there were so many places to choose from along the way. I ordered the special Salmon Sandwich and husband ordered one fried oyster taco and one pork carnita taco. (Yes, in Charleston, the man ordered non-seafood.) All of our choices were outstanding! We sat looking into the small, but well run and spotless kitchen, and thoroughly enjoyed visiting with the chef and sous-chef while they prepped our food. We seriously considered going back for lunch day 2, but knew we "needed" to knock a few more spots off our list.

    (5)
  • J Z.

While very small in area the owners and staff made this a great spot for lunch! The lobster roll was as good as being in New England! The shrimp taco and the pork carnita taco was very good. Recommend this tiny gem!

This place serves up some of the freshest seafood I have found in Charleston thus far. I started with a Westbrook White Thai and raw oysters while I waited for my lobster roll to-go. The fresh spot only seats 7 and all the stools were occupied by seriously satisfied customers. The Maine oysters were to die and the mignonette sauce was just right. A group of people left the raw bar, so I was able to watch them prepare my lobster roll and oh my gosh, the lobster chunks were huge! It was absolutely the best lobster roll I've eaten in Charleston. I would (and have) recommended this spot to anyone looking for a good meal, or affordable fresh fish to take home and cook themselves. The guys there are super helpful and knowledgable. I can't wait to give their ceviche and tuna taco a try!

    (5)
  • Robert Z.

Maybe the best raw oysters I have ever had. The albacore tuna tacos and shrimp tacos were incredible. The combination of the selection of local food, beer, and the thoughtful and intimate service make this place stand out.

  • Michael H.

Excellent! Had the lobster roll based on recommendations of others on this site and it lived up to expectations. Had a half dozen assorted oysters on the half shell and they may have been the best I've ever had. Not many seats so go with a small group, at off times or you may not be able to sit and eat. Friendly staff and excellent seafood. Go - you won't be sorry.

After planning a day trip to Charelston I looked around here on Yelp for a place to eat as I had been craving a lobster roll. With all the amazing reviews I saw here I couldn't wait to stop by for lunch. Parking was extremely difficult to find so I dropped my mom off for her to just run in and get our food to go. The restaurant was overflowing with people waiting outside so we figured that would be easiest. $60 later for 2 lobster rolls and a small serving of kettle chips we sat down at waterfront park to enjoy. When I opened the box I must say the food looked delish but upon our first bites we were both disappointed. The lobster was chewy! There were a few rogue pieces that were perfectly cooked and seasoned but for the most part 95% of what was in the sandwich was difficult to eat. Not at all what I expected for a 30$ roll. I expected the lobster to melt in my mouth and that just didn't happen. Not sure if it was an off day. But too expensive of a flop to try again.

Stopped by on a rainy Monday after a trip to the aquarium. Place was spotlessly clean and had the pleasant aroma of a fish market. Service was quick and friendly. My wife had the lobster roll and I had the tuna tacos. Both were excellent. Not a great spot if you are looking for more atmosphere than the fish market but if you want great food and don't mind the market this is a great spot. I highly recommend for a quick bite at lunch or dinner.

My husband and I came here tonight on a Christmas visit from San Francisco. We get tons of fresh seafood back home, but I was honestly blown away by the incredible food at 167 Raw. The fish tacos are amazing, as was the guac and the oysters. I'm actually already planning my trip back tomorrow so I can try some more delicious items from their menu! Staff is very friendly and service is prompt. Highly recommend!

Stopped in for a late launch and had the excellent lobster roll sandwich. Huge chunks of delicious lobster! The restaurant Is small but we enjoyed sitting at the counter watching the staff work. They were friendly. I would love to have been able to take something to go...especially from the selection of fresh fish...but alas, just passing through.

This was one of our favorite places! Very small, limited seating. We thankfully got there just in time and only had to wait a few minutes. We started with the oysters and they were delicious! We got to try 3 different kinds. The fish tacos were so good I ended up ordering another one and so did my husband! This place is a gem and a must try if your in Charleston!

Tiny place, 17 seats, and limited menu but what they do they do extremely well. Seafood was as fresh as it gets. The two owners are friendly and service is good. Decent selection of beer and wine but no taps.

Very nice place with a small and simple menu, which is a good thing. Excellent oysters and a couple of delicious sauces. Friendly and quick service sitting at a counter. Great atmosphere if you are serious about sea food. Nice to see young people opening good places with quality food and good prices with a hip vibe for all ages and types of folks. Oyster shucker guy needs to pick up the pace, maybe some lessons from a very busy raw bar. Highly recommend if you are craving some oysters with a few nice things for the non-raw folks as well.

little place with the best food. Had the lobster roll, wish I could take several home. Just perfect, as is the catch of the day. One of the best food I have ever had, everything is fresh. Don't think go, if you can overlook the size you will not regret it. My wife wanted to leave, said she wanted a full dinner, but she gave it a try and was very very happy she did. Did I mention how good the lobster was ?

    (5)
  • Bec J.

C'mon man. I've been here multiple times and have always had good service. Not this time. I arrived about five minutes before my friend saw two open seats, then basically got scolded and ignored for sitting down at the bar without being invited and asked "how long" it was going to take for my friend to get there...within seconds of me sitting down. I can take a hint, you want me to get up because now you won't even acknowledge me or take my drink order or get me a water. Hospitality 101: if you don't want people to seat themselves, put up a sign saying so. There are smaller, not so nice, junky dock dives in Florida and the Caribbean that have hosts for that very reason. Every other time I've been here I have just sat down and then been greeted kindly, even if someone was meeting me and wasn't there yet. I sort of just wanted to leave and felt really unwelcome. But the oysters are always spot on and I genuinely like this place, so I won't give it a bad rating because that isn't fair and I get that they don't have the space to meet their demand. I just might have to find my bivalves somewhere else, which is sad.

  • Stephen B.

These guys never fail to perform magic with their creations. Whether it is the best oysters available in Charleston or their simple and tasty sandwiches, tacos or dinner specials, the food is fresh and special. Take advantage of their commitment to quality and your dining experience! Don't miss the lobster roll. As I overheard a diner talking to her companion, "this is how they are supposed to be."

I've eaten lobster rolls up and down the East Coast and the Gulf. Never had more lobster on a roll or a better dressed roll. Perfect combination of butter and dressing. Very limited seating, but I'd stand there for an hour for one of these rolls.

I was in Charleston with my girlfriend for the weekend and we picked up a magazine called Dish. We saw the ad for this place and then I looked it up on Trip Advisor. So we decided to try it. We walked in and thought it was just a fish market and then we see about 7 seats in it. We decided to stay and sit at the bar to watch them cook our food. So glad we did. It had to be the best fish taco and lobster roll I have ever had in a restaurant. We were in Charleston for only 3 nights and decided to go back for a second night. The pork taco could have been the best thing I have ever tasted. The meat was crisp on the outside and so moist on the inside. If you are a local or a person traveling there and you do not try this place you are missing out. It was unbelievable. Loved sitting there talking to the chef and just talking about the food and he gave us great places to go later in the night.

So good we came here twice during our visit. It isn't a big space (maybe 24 seats total) but both times we visited we were seated right away, right place, right time I guess. These are just some cool dudes operating a no frills New England inspired seafood restaurant/market. The oysters are perfectly shucked although I thought their house mignonette was a bit timid. I preferred the classic mignonette but I liked that I had condiment choices besides the standard cocktail sauce and lemon wedge. Over the course of our two visits we tried all the oysters, a fried oyster taco, a swordfish taco, guac, ceviche and the ahi poke. I would say the one clunker was the overly sweet and otherwise bland poke, it wouldn't pass in Hawaii but hey they are from New England. The guac and ceviche are tangy bright and fresh and absolutely fantastic. On our second trip I found that you can request grilled tortilla chips instead of the fried in house chips. Also I LOVE their tacos. Normally you get tacos that double up on the tortilla to handle all the filling and prevent leaks/breakage. At 167 Raw they bind the tortillas together with either a slathering of that banging guac or add some smokey melty cheese. It is such an awesome way to inject more flavor and keep the taco intact. I wish I lived closer but if you just want a fresh quality seafood experience head over to 167 Raw. It may not have a picturesque water view but you can taste the ocean in every bite.

We thought we would just stop by for some oysters but stayed for the most delicious seafood we've had in a long time. We know little about oysters but enjoyed tasting a variety. The ceviche was amazing. Then we had the lobster roll. We figured it would be one of those things that disappoints after all the talk. No way. It was amazing and we don't even love lobster! Based on other reviews we topped it off with key lime pie. Perfect!

It has been days since we visited 167 Raw and we still cannot stop talking about it. The charm of the small shop is so welcoming. It makes you want to stay and have a couple glasses of wine, but you certainly won't stay too long because there are only less than 20 seats available in the whole place and you have to let others experience the amazing food. Luckily we went between meals, so the wait wasn't that terrible, maybe 10 minutes if that. The staff is so wonderful. All of them very friendly and they all worked so well together and very diligently at their tasks. The place was so clean and charming. We started with a dozen jumbo cocktail shrimp. We weren't ready for what we were served. Being from PA, the seafood is obviously not as fresh. These shrimp were huge in our eyes, and so fresh and delicious. My husband got the fish sandwich special which was flounder. He is extremely picky when it comes to food and this sandwich came loaded with things he was unsure of, but still ate it because it was that good. I got the Lobster Roll - oh my gosh - I can hardly formulate words expressing how delicious it was. The roll was so buttery and light. There were huge chunks of lobster and the mayo sauce was light and complimented the lobster instead of overpowering it. Every bite was perfect. We saw that a lot of the other guests were getting key lime pie, so we decided to also try it. Again, words ... it was honestly the best key lime pie we have ever had. It was better than any we have tasted while visiting Key West. It was so smooth and silky with a burst of lime in every bite. It was so good we may have went back a few days later to get two more pieces. You MUST visit 167 Raw!!!

Who knew the best meal in Charleston would have been here. I could not rate 167 any higher. We walked in, and there was maybe a 15 minute wait. While waiting, we ordered a beer (great varieties) and a wine. Enjoyable just to stand there and watch the action behind the bar. As for the food, for 2 of us, we ordered a bunch. Amazing raw bar selection, and all excellence. The crab claws and oyster selection were outstanding. The poke was phenomenal. Seriously one of the best things I have had. Ever. And the tuna burger? Seriously banging. Not something we would normally order, but I asked the waiter what the best thing was. He was so right. You need to try this. Great people, amazing food and a cool little spot. What more could you ask for?

Visited on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. No wait, score! Ordered the fried oyster basket (oysters covered in a lovely vinaigrette sauce), a lobster roll (big chunks of lobster in a buttery, toasted fresh roll), and a salmon burger to share. Everything was super fresh and delicious. If we weren't planning on having seafood later that same night, we would've tried some of the raw oysters as well. Their selection looked great. Not a cheap lunch, though, that's for sure. The lobster roll was $24 (market price). But given the rave reviews, we had to try it at least once. We'll be back for sure the next time we're in Charleston again. Only downside of the meal is that my bf bit into a large rock in one of the fried oysters. He didn't chip a tooth, thank goodness, but wish the oysters had been cleaned better.

I visited on a summer Tuesday night at 8pm. Because of the size (small) of the restaurant, I waited 15 minutes for a single seat to open up at the counter. It's tough to break the streak of 5 star reviews. I see why Yelpers can give it five stars: -the food (all seafood except for the pork carnitas) is fresh. The server told us is was All caught yesterday or the day before (except of oysters that have to be flown in from exotic places such as PEI and RI) -the style- the place was filled with locals. Young urban kids who appreciate the price points (most of the menu under $20). It's small: 6+4 stools at the counter plus two tables of 4. This is NOT a place for groups or families (unless your kids love oysters, shrimp, and fish tacos ;). I have never seen a restaurant so small. On the plus side: They prepare everything within sight of the four counter stools. The staff is hard-working and take pride in their service. I would definitely go back, but Yelper should be aware of the dynamics listed in this review (and others).

Wanted some seafood after touring Fort Sumter. Did a Yelp search and 167 Raw was less than a mile away, perfect for a late lunch. Street parking was relatively easy to find. 167 Raw is a very small location, but it wasn't crowded when I went. Sat down at the counter, ordered some raw clams, the lobster roll special, and a beer. The beer and clams came as soon they were prepared in front of me - both hit the spot! Soon after the lobster roll and chips arrived. The toasted roll contrasted nicely with the creamy mayo and huge chunks of lobster meat- Delicious! I now have something to compare when I visit Boston this weekend! Definitely recommend and something to repeat whenever I visit Charleston!

Gonna keep this short and sweet (with pretty much all 5 star reviews), I think everything that needs to be said has been said. Halibut Ceviche: first time trying ceviche and I wasn't disappointed - really refreshing and light on a hot southern day. Lobster Roll: not really a fan of lobster, but I haddddddd to try it... The roll itself was buttery and fresh, the lobster meat wasn't overpowered by the mayo... It was super fresh too (wouldn't order it again, but glad I tried it). Fried Oyster Basket: 5 stars alone!!!!! The sweet/spicy sauce they were tossed in was TO DIE FOR - super crispy, tender and fresh! Fried Oyster Taco: delicious (but at this point I was bursting at the seams), flavors were mild, but on point! Bf had the carnita and shrimp tacos and loved them as well (he's a taco fanatic)! TIP: get there supppper early... Like stalk them (from afar) and go as soon as they unlock the door (well maybe not as SOON as they unlock the door - but no more than 15 mins after) or you willllllll be waiting!

My friend and I decided to eat here because of everyone's reviews. Needless to say, they were all 100% accurate. The food was absolutely amazing! Truly the best tuna burger I have ever eaten. The service was great and very fast. It is a total hole in the wall place, but please don't tell Diners, Drive-ins and Dives about it or we will never get in the door again! Also, if you are gluten free and really want the lobster roll, don't worry, they will make it for you on two fresh corn tortillas. My friend said they were delicious too!

Pretty much as good as it can be (minus the small location). The wait can be insane at during lunch and I suggest doing a late lunch or being there when doors open. The lobster roll is the best I've ever had - PERIOD. I also had the fish tacos and they are excellent. There are just too many good things on the menu and the secret is officially out about 167. The new "it" spot in Charleston for sure.

This restaurant was certainly the best seafood restaurant I have been to. EVER! I have been to many seafood restaurants in my life that have served phenomenal meals but never as fresh as 167 Raw. We had the fresh catch of the day ceviche: halibut. We also had the ahi poke, as well, all served with the freshest tortilla chips I have had to date. Every single bite kept us coming back for another. It was decadent. It was delicious. To die for. We ordered the lobster roll but, being that we do not eat flour/gluten, they served the lobster salad alone with arugula mix and freshly chopped chives. It was very fresh lobster and mixed so well with all the flavors of the poke and ceviche. I loved that you could chat with the chefs who were also the servers and bus boys and everything for that matter! You hung out with them as they cooked the most amazing seafood, so fresh, so freaking good! I cannot wait to come back to this beautiful city and eat some more at 167 Raw.

This place is terrible. Never go here. Just kidding! That was my sorry attempt at keeping the crowds away from seriously the best seafood in Charleston. This place is the bomb. Everything is super fresh and cooked perfectly. I've never not had my socks knocked off by a meal here. It's super casual, but also super small. Make sure you get there early, or be prepared to wait--they seriously can't sit more than 18-20 people at a time. But--it's worth the wait. And get the key lime pie! It's super tart and super delicious. Can you tell I think this place is, well, super?! Happy eating!

Fact: 167 Raw is really, really good. Everything is uber-fresh, and the guys that run the place obviously know what they're doing. It's a fantastic, intimate date night spot, especially on weeknights. 167 Raw fits less than 10 people inside, so on quieter nights it's great to just walk in and sit (with a view of the kitchen in action if the chef's counter seats are open). Raw bar enthusiasts will adore this spot, which keeps a daily-changing menu of items priced individually - perfect for sampling and sharing. We tried the stone crab claws ($3 each), which were fantastic. There's a lobster roll (market price) and a po-boy on the menu each day, and the po-boy changes from oyster, to shrimp, to something else depending on what they've gotten in that morning. Beware the market price lobster roll though: it's a hefty, 4-star sandwich (and I would know: I ate my way through Boston-area lobster rolls for 2 years), but with a price tag in the upper $20s, the check stung a little. Tips: Hit 167 Raw on a weekday, and grab a Cisco Whale's Tale while you're at it. Also, check the market price before you go! I've heard the lobster roll can dip down to $18 - much more reasonable.

I was very impressed by the food and service here. It was no surprise that this place has a 5-star rating. The staff were friendly, food came out fast, We ordered the oyster, shrimp, and fish taco (mahi). Honestly, the best tacos I've ever had. The flavour profiles worked magic. All the ingredients were perfectly cooked. My favourite had to have be the shrimp tacos. The shrimps were seasoned well and the sauce it came with was a perfect match. We also ordered the guacamole and chips - it was definitely on the pricy side - but oh boy, the chips were crunchy and the guacamole was delicious. It paired so well with our tacos, I couldn't have asked for more. Lastly we also ordered oysters. The oysters were an average price and were fresh. We tried the southlake, beau soleli, and Wiley point. I have always been a fan of the beau soleli's finish...so again, I was a sucker for it, especially when it's fresh. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. If you are visiting Charleston. Pay 167 Raw a visit, you won't want to leave!!

The lobster roll melts in your mouth. It has a buttered heated roll stuffed with fresh lobster. Amazing and a must have. We started with ceviche that.included striper, halibut, and included mandarin oranges, tomatoes, and tasted so fresh. The atmosphere was very laid back and friendly. It has only 18 seats but is a must for anyone visiting Charleston!

EXCELLENT. What a great place to enjoy some fresh seafood and kick back. The guys who work here are friendly, sunny and efficient. You get the feeling like they've been friends forever, and actually two of them are brothers. The place is small with bar seating and two high tops, if you want to get here and enjoy this place comfortably time before the lunch rush and perch yourself at the bar with a friend or two. While sipping on our beers, we noticed an older lady walk in and buy some fresh fish from them, so I'm assuming this place serves as a small seafood market as well for the locals. We had to try the renouned lobster roll: This sweet, sculuent, buttery favorite was fantastic and took me back to my childhood where my dad would take us to the Rockaways as a treat and we'd have lobster rolls for lunch. We also split a ceviche, today's fish was Halibut (they have this dish's protein change with availability, keeping it fresh and exciting); a small portion but rich in flavor. We ate it without the mountain of chips they served with it. If you're in Charleston, this is the place to stop by during your joruney through the charming city. It's along the water and near waterfront park, so after enjoying your meal walk towards there and take in the beauty of the day. You won't regret it.

Outstanding!!! Had a bit of a wait, but well worth it. As a lobster roll snob, I was not disappointed, and the key lime pie was epic. Great atmosphere with the music just loud enough to hear but could easily carry on a conversation. A must stop if your in Charleston.

Went last night , 6/3/15, with 4 colleagues . We are from the upstate SC . Looking for a seafood place that's casual . Five stars on yelp and we totally agree. We had the $50 sampler with shrimp , oysters , clams , and crab claws. Super fresh and delicious . I ordered the lobster roll , omg the big chunks of meat was awesome and the bread .... The bread was delicious ! Four of us ordered the same lobster roll and one ordered the fish taco. One of my colleagues have not eaten clams and oysters before , he did try and now he's hooked No reservations on this place because it only seats 20-25 people . We were helped and seated within 15 minutes . I heard from other patrons that we were lucky because there's usually a long wait . It was a Wednesday night and weather was not very Charleston like . That's probably why not a whole lot of tourists . I met Dan, I think he's the owner or manager , who is the most helpful and friendliest person . He told me that most of the food comes from New England . I would definitely recommend this place

When you drop $149 for lunch it should be spectacular, however, It was just average. We ordered raw oysters, guac and chips, ceviche, lobster roll, shrimp, and a carnitas taco. Nothing was bad, but when you sample a good portion of the menu and it is all average, we were very disappointed. We won't return.

Stoppppp it. You're perfect and I love you, but I hate you. I want to be with you all the time, but your popularity (and my wallet) won't allow it. Why can't we just be together every day of our lives?! Give me your lobster roll and fresh oysters one more time and that's it, I'm not giving up on this relationship. I'll be the annoying girlfriend that will never leave you. I'll take some of that guacamole too while you're at it. Also, can I have another glass of wine? Love, Ginny.

Not much to say here that hasn't already been said by the multitudes of reviews, so i'll keep this review brief. If you're a fan of fresh or raw seafood, this is the spot to find it. Delicately prepared and INCREDIBLY fresh, with a rotating menu that features seasonal hits, the food here is tremendous. It's a small spot, but they fought to open up a table for us during the busiest rush of the day. Service was spot on, and the soft shell crab sandwich was incredible. My wife is a non-seafood eater (i know, I know) and she had the 10 hour carnitas and RAVED about it. The ahi poke appetizer was as good as any i've had on the Big Island, and I could have just ordered a few and had it for a meal. Tortilla chips made in house and a great selection of local beers to finish it up.

This place is run by asses. Cant comment on their seafood, but the dishes without it are bad. Went here on family vacation on a recommendation. I'm a vegetarian, which I knew isn't their thing, but my family loves seafood. I ask if they have vegetarian options off the standard menu - a lot of places do. This question wasn't well received - it kicked off a rant from our server that started with some really miserable body language (lots of blinking) and ended with "I don't know how you turn fish into vegetables." I don't think the server actually said anything else after that. Mostly grunts. Got a beer, a salad, and guagamole. The beer came with an old, dried up lime. The guacamole was $9 and crappy. The salad was poorly conceived - bitter arugula with a sour dressing (nothing sweet).

  • Damon T.

Ok. Lets start with the only bad I can think of......you are going to drop some cash. That being said, this was the best pure seafood I have ever had...yeah... really... best. Im not going to make this review long because the joint speaks for itself. Get the Oyster taco, get the crab claws, get the shrimp cocktail, get the AHI POKE, drink beer. Then go die because you wont do much more with your life!

Awesome fresh seafood. Everyone loved their appetizers, entrées and deserts. The restaurant is popular so you can anticipate a 30 minute wait. Not much room to stand around becauseI it's a tight space in the restaurant with only around 20 seats (including the raw bar) Time to get a bigger space?

  • Jackclyn N.

Incredibly rude employees. I tried to go with a friend for dinner and was practically shooed out the door, after being ignored upon entrance and left to puzzle out what to do in such a small space, antagonized about our status on "the list" when we sat in what looked like open seats, and then ignored again in favor of someone who came in after us. When asked to be helped before the other person, the employee snapped "I know you're there, I was just greeting her first." The menu has about 6 food items on it and they have very few seats (about 3 tables and a tiny bar) and clearly a terrible system for a wait list. If you care about selection, space, or service, you're better off taking your money somewhere you're appreciated. We ended up going to Pearls Oyster Bar down the street and were treated with great respect and wonderful food and seating.

Reed, Jacob and Dan were nothing short of AWESOME. Every we ate was an absolute culinary delight. From the Sword Fish Tacos to the fresh made Ceviche that was seasoned to perfection. There's only "1" thing I would change at 167 Raw . . . NOTHING! Can't wait for our next visit! If you're in Charleston - DON'T MISS THIS GEM!

Small, but very cool place. The staff was very friendly and offered lots of tips to my wife and I about where else to visit on our vacation in Charleston. We had the tuna burger and ceviche and loved both of them! We considered going here every night on our trip, but decided to try some other restaurants as well... They also carried some fantastic local beers. Really enjoyed the Westbrook White Thai.

among the best food we've had in charleston. yelp brought us here, and yelp does not disappoint! +0 for small seating area +1 for being greeted as soon as we walked in, though they were incredibly busy. before we knew it, we were promised a table, and were sipping on drinks of our choosing. +1 for carrying several local brews. +1 for friendly staff. quick and professional. +1 for being seated right in front of the kitchen. the cook was quite personable, interactive, and loved having an audience. he wasn't showy; but, when you're as good as he is, the food does all the talking. the kitchen was small, but he had it down to a science. "well-oiled machine" was the phrase that kept coming to mind. +1 for great 10-hour pork carnitas. incredibly flavorful. for those who aren't excited by seafood like myself (i know, for shame), this is a fantastic option. very tender. nice texture. great sauces. 2 tacos is a decent meal, but i could have eaten 3. +1 my wife really enjoyed her crispy oyster taco and jumbo shrimp cocktail. +1 for not smelling like you would expect a raw fish place to smell. coming from the midwest, where all seafood smells ... fishy, this was amazing. +1 for great prices. we wish we had time to return before heading home. highly recommended!

These guys are incredible. They're all from around the Cape Cod area and were just delightful to talk to. My lovely lady friend had the best lobster roll we've ever had. That's saying a lot since we had a lobster roll every day for two weeks when we were in Cape Cod. This is a must try. You'll love everything about it.

167 Raw opened in my very own block, and tempted by the lobster roll sign out front, I decided to make that a plan for a special occasion. Because lobster rolls are always a special occasion. I lived in New England for a while and the search for amazing lobster rolls were and are always a mission on my trips to Maine. Since lobster rolls are much scarcer in Charleston, I kept up with 167 Raw's raving Yelp reviews and bided my time until I had guests come into town. The day finally came and the four of us decided to get take out. The bread was toasted and buttery with a hint of garlic salt. It was stuffed with a generous amount of lobster (including several whole claws), fresh herbs and was luckily unadulterated by heavy mayonnaise. My expectations were hopeful, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Raw 167 offers one of the best lobster rolls I've ever had. I need to find a way to fit one into my weekly budget. Yes, I'm obsessed.

How can I not give this place 5 stars. No fancy white table clothes, off the main strip, very personal service, and best of all, an amazing selection of great and delicious oysters. THIS is why I love coming to Charleston. I had a dozen assorted oysters and they were all amazing (albeit not local) and I also had a delicious crispy sautéed carnitas taco that I can still taste. Don't bring a crowd but plan to be delighted if you make the short walk away from the fancy places to this culinary delight of Charleston.

Best raw oysters in Charleston IMO. Always fresh and shucked right in front of you. The lobster roll is off the chain as well. (Keep in mind it's about $20- but I'd say well worth it-you don't get short changed on lobster and it's just plain delicious) Happy hour is a dollar off oysters so I always try to go around then-keep in mind it gets packed! I like to take friends here when they are in town since it's such a cool intimate atmosphere. The owners are chill and nice and accommodating. Certainly one of my favorite gems in Charleston--a to go place for fresh seafood

After being bookmarked and on my must visit list for some time now, my friend and I finally found a day we could have a late lunch together and went to 167 Raw. The late lunch part was important to us b/c we knew of it's popularity and limited seating. We met around 2:30 and sat back at the bar in front of the open kitchen area. With our Yelp check-in giving us one free oyster a piece, we discussed the kind of oysters we like, (smaller and salty) so they picked two varieties from Canada for us. We ordered three of each. Both we're amazing, but the best part besides the actual oyster, are the sauces. The classic mignonette is three varieties of vinegar with an awesome peppery kick. I could have drank it! They also provided an Asian pear sauce and fresh shaved horseradish. When asked if we liked heat our yes reply got us access to their secret special hot sauce that they like on their oysters. Delicious of coarse. Since we knew we were splitting a lobster roll the only decision left was which two tacos to split. I wanted the tuna taco for sure just from all the amazing pics of it on Yelp, and Darren,( who by the way was awesome and let's say our host for the visit, b/c he is one of the chef's and when I'm sitting at a bar, face to face with someone, I can't say server) recommended the 10 hour pork carnita taco, so that's what we did. When the lobster roll arrived I took a piece of lobster from the roll and ate it by itself. At first taste I thought, this needs salt, but then I took a full bite with the fresh buttery bread and lobster combined and realized I was wrong. It really is a fabulous sandwich. Both tacos were amazing too. The pork has a soy glaze on it that is outstanding. I can't decide though if the oyster and mignonette sauce was my favorite bite, or the tuna taco when you got a hit of the cilantro, and tuna, and tomatoes, and sauce all combined. Between the food and great time getting to interact with Darren, 167 Raw definitely is worthy of all five of my stars. P.S. Exciting news, they'll be adding two new table tops to seat four a piece, practically doubling the seating capacity. :)

Do not miss this place! Their food is delicious and you will have a unique dining experience. We tried the lobster roll, oysters, and pork tacos. Everything was out of the world! It is a small place so you might have to wait for a table.. it is most definitely worth it!

Love this place and these guys! Best tuna tacos in town! This place is small. You can get a seat right at the kitchen window. That's my favorite spot. You can watch them make everything to order, chat with the chefs and owners, and feel like you've been coming there all your life. These guys are so nice. When they first opened, they were byob while waiting for their license. So you could stop by HT, buy some beer or wine, and cross the street for some great food! I even heard them say that, if you called ahead, they would cook up any of the fresh seafood they had and you could eat it there or take it home. How convenient!! Please give this place a try. It only seats about 6 people, but well worth it!

Blink and you will miss it but you really don't want to. Situated across from Harris Teeter on East Bay, this heavenly seafood place will rock your world. There is limited seating but so much fun seating (tables, bar, overlooking open kitchen) and the menu is small but perfect. There is a lobster roll. Yes fresh lobster roll. Wow. The ahi and beef tacos were ridiculous good. Savory and so bursting in flavor. Also, one of the best ceviches I have ever had served with warm homemade chips. They also offer a guacamole that looked creamery good. This also has a true coastal Charleston feel. A must experience for Charleston

Delicious! Michelle T. and I had the fish taco of the day (mahi), and my others friends got the carnitas taco. We shared guacamole and the key lime pie. Everything was fresh and service was great. Wish there was one these places in NY!

NOT TO BE MISSED! Fresh, fun, fast and delicious: This tiny seafood outpost has its mama in Nantucket. Seating barely 20 at a time, the wait is well worth it! The lobster roll is stuffed with huge chunks of sweet claw and tail meat while the tuna burger is worth swooning for. Don't miss the smoked bluefish pate when it's offered. Even my carnivorous husband wanted seconds. Even better, it's served with fresh from the fryer chips. The Po Boy had crispy fried oysters spilling from a split roll grilled in butter. The raw bar featured both local and New England oysters as well as clams, shrimp and crab. Just in case you're still a little hungry, they have take out as well as a fresh fish market if you want to cook at home. YUM!

I'm hesitant to write a review about 167 Raw only because I'm not sure I want others to discover the secret. I want the place all to myself. IT'S THAT GOOD. Located across from the Harris Teeter on East Bay, 167 Raw is run by some of the coolest and nicest guys in Charleston. Since opening, they have added more seating to allow for more like 20 people versus 10 to dine there at once. I personally love sitting at one of the four chairs in front of the kitchen and watching everything being prepared right there. The Lobster Roll is literally life changing and the best I have ever had. Served on a buttery brioche roll from Butcher & Bee, the Lobster is coated is just the right amount of mayo, allowing the sweet Lobster meat to shine through as the star. When I was sick and could barely keep down water, my friend brought me a Lobster Roll and I devoured it on the spot. The Ahi Tuna Poke and Ceviche both make great appetizers, served with homemade crispy pita chips. I also love all of Raw's tacos, like their fried oyster, pork carnita and swordfish taco. Splitting a bottle of wine and some oysters is also a brilliant idea, despite them being a bit pricey at $2.75 each. My advice- Go to 167 Raw and split a Lobster Roll with someone you love. Just don't tell too many people about it as I will then have to wait for a table. Must order items: Lobster Roll Ahi Tuna Poke Fried Oyster Taco

Everything was superb. When I went to Neptune in Boston and tried their lobster roll I thought that was the best until I tried Raw's. You have to try it. Don't skip the ceviche, it is excellent.

Good selection of fresh oysters (but none local). Complementary menu and wine selections are good but very limited, although they do have a few lesser known, great value-for-money wines. The staff are knowledgable and answer questions readily. Restaurant space is intimate, promoting conversation with neighbors at the bar or across tables. However, it's not a good choice for romantic or business conversations. Food presentation is poor with the exception of the oysters. Having the attached fish shop is convenient for local clientele, although it would be nice to see at least some local catches routinely showcased.

  • Andrée P.

167 Raw is a little out of the way, but other than that it's absolutely fantastic. We went when it wasn't busy but apparently it's quite busy most of the time! We had delicious chips and guac as well as the shrimp taco, the fish taco (halibut that day) and the ceviche. Food here seems to be great for sharing and also super fresh (many of the items change daily). Though we didn't try the dessert, the key lime pie seemed to be ordered by quite a few in the restaurant and looked delicious!

  • Grace T.

They have THE best lobster rolls I've ever eaten. It tastes fresh and buttery, with just the right amount of saltiness to bring all the flavors together. The place isn't big, so it may be hard to find seating, and there's literally no parking (street parking, in front of restaurant only), but if you can go on a slow day/night (I don't really know when that is), you really need to check out 167 Raw. I will warn you that it's expensive (around $18 for one roll with a side of chips), but it's SO delicious!!!

  • Jennifer A.

Absolutely incredible. 167 Raw provided me the best fish taco of my life which is also a contender for best taco of my life. Period. I have to think on it but I'm struggling to recall a better taco, fish or otherwise. It was so flavorful with delicate and moist fish, fresh avocado, and a spicy mayo aioli. The flour tortillas are perfectly pressed and soft. The carnitas taco was also exceptional but a little dry. It could have used more sauce. The pork itself though was super tasty. You can tell it was slow cooked. The pickled red onion was a nice touch. I tried three oysters. Sadly, I didn't realize they were half off for happy hour. I would have ordered more! I left the choices up to the shucker; he chose three varying in size and flavor profile. My favorite was the standish shore which had a lovely deep ocean quality. It was savory, sweet, and dynamic. Delicious! Beer and wine selections are brief but effective. Only Local and large retailer beers that pair well with their dishes. I went for the Westbrook white thai which perfectly balanced out the spice of my tacos. Service was great: Helpful but not cloying. The guys who work there know their seafood and I highly recommend giving it a go. Bravo, 167.

Two reasons i gave these guys 5 stars. 1. I walked in at 9:05 not realizing they closed at 9 (Mon-Thurs). I was by myself and being from out of town for work, this was my only night I was going to be able to make it. The guy at the front made it happen for me and spoke to the chef about serving me anyways. And not like they were in a hurry to get me out, they we're super accommodating and made sure I didn't feel rushed. 2. The tuna burger was AMAZING. Probably the best tuna I've had period, sandwich or not. The tuna itself was extremely soft, like a high quality medium/medium-rare beef burger. Then there was the avo spread, arugula, and some other goodness inside a fresh bun that placed this joint and all of Charleston for that matter on the map. I came here by suggestion from a local, and after this great experience, I would highly highly suggest it.

Visited some friends in Charleston. We were going to head to Pearlz but they were closed so we Yelped "raw bar" and found this place. So glad we did! It has 5 stars for a reason! My girlfriend and I got oysters, clams, and shrimp. The oysters were the cleanest I've ever had. Had 4 different kinds and they were absolutely perfect. The shrimp were huge. They were incredibly tender and firm. I don't eat raw clams very often but 167's raw game is on point. The only place I've had better raw clams was some hole in the wall up in Cape Cod. If you love seafood then 167 Raw is a must.

When I tell you the Lobster Roll is ridiculously delicious, PLEASE BELIEVE ME. My husband and I made this our first stop upon arriving in Charleston. I saw a photo of the Lobster Roll on Instagram and the rest is history. We spent the rest of our week half-jokingly suggesting, "So... 167 Raw?" when deciding on our next meal. We loved it so much, we made it our last meal before returning to Richmond. Oh, the fish and shrimp tacos are also super bomb... but that Lobster Roll? Ohmygod.

  • Meena L.

Blah blah blah I'm from New England and I love my lobster rolls. I love lobster rolls so much I don't think I can accurately portray it with words. I went here last week with another new englander who is picky about his lob rolls and prefers his lobster with just butter, and he gave the thumbs up on this aioli base. I had one bite and I continued eating until my chin was greasy with butter and there was aioli on my eyelashes, it was a whirlwind, and it was beautiful. Also their oysters are fresh and the ceviche was on point. 9.5/10, will be back next time we are in Charleston.

These guys are doing it right! We went by around noon, packed so we went back around 3 for Oysters & ceviche. 1st come 1st serve, so plan on that. It's worth the effort.

After reading such great reviews and recommendations I wanted to try this place out while I was in downtown. Unfortunately, recommendations did not live up to reality. I ordered the lobster roll, and had the chance to try out the shrimp po' boy. The lobster came in a very buttery roll of bread and you could tell that it was fresh and still had remnants of the natural lobster flavor that was not masked. There were large chunks of lobster meat, I saw some claw in there too. The problem probably to me was that whatever sauce mix they used was not flavorful enough, it was barely there so at times you got a chunk with no seasoning or sauce which just left bland lobster without much seasoning. I felt that there should have been a better ratio of lobster to seasoning and sauce. The bread was deliciously buttery though. The shrimp po' boy was seasoned very well on the other hand and came with two sauces that were delicious and the green basil infused sauce was definitely the better of the two. The shrimp were fried just slightly enough to have a crispy exterior while leaving the integrity of the shrimp meat intact. The atmosphere of the establishment was definitely a great one and the overall dining experience was good.

Amazing, fantastic, glorious! This tiny restaurant serves incredible food! The young man who waited on me was so helpful (not to mention super attractive...hey, a girl can dream, can't she?). He chose three varieties of oysters for me and all of them made me swoon inside. They knocked it out of the park with the lobster roll too. It's packed with tender, lemony lobster on a buttery, toasty roll. Perfection!!

Wow!! The freshest, cleanest most amazing oysters I've ever had. Seriously. Nice beer selection and one of the best slices of key lime pie I've had in a long, long time!

Came here 3 weeks ago while on holiday and I'm still dreaming about it. Pretty much sampled the entire menu... All delicious! Very small seating area so get there early and expect to wait.

167 is a small place, across from HT, that serves super fresh seafood, with affordable prices and limited seating. Currently it is byob. There are only 7 seats and you can get food to go. We sat at the bar and watched the kitchen staff. Grouper ceviche- 4stars. A little too sweet. Very fresh fish. Tuna taco 5stars. Excellent preparation with the grilled tortillas. Tuna was excellent and perfectly cooked. My favorite thing here. Shrimp tacos- 3.5. Ok. Service- 5stars. Very friendly and knowledgable. Food was right on time and well presented. Overall, I might have given this place 4 stars, but I really enjoyed chatting with the kitchen staff and Kyle, who was helpful. Plus, the price was right. Thanks guys! I will be back.

Ordered 1 dzn oysters. Oysters were good. Server had no idea between the different types. I asked about saltiness and bryniness and he said they all are salty and briney. Well, if you have ever been to New England, you would know that that answer was not correct. Aside if that though, I had lobster roll. Brioche was very tasty. Lobster was fresh and not over stuffed with mayo. Gf had tuna sandwich. It was a nice size. Looked like a 1/3 lb burger. Both were really good. Oysters were good as well. 4 stars due to lack of ouster knowledge. Would have gone a different way with order had he know the difference. Good spot, come check it out.

Best FRESH seafood restaurant I've ate in the states! Their specials run out quickly so I recommend eating here right when it opens. I came went in hoping to eat Little neck clams, lobster roll, and ceviche. They ran out of lobster roll and crab claws after 30 minutes of opening. The gentleman next to me reassured everything on the menu is worth trying. I AGREEE!!!! The owners are passionate about their food quality and presentation, I recommend sitting at the bar in the kitchen so you can talk with the chefs. I would be a regular customer if I lived in Charleston. I would say quality of seafood is comparable to Maine, San Francisco, and Boston. Ceviche - this is not your traditional Mexican ceviche. They keep classic flavors of cilantro, lime juice, and tomato. However, they modernize it by using fresh grape tomatoes and adding fresh oranges. Although I say never mess with traditional cuisine, this is an exception because they executed this dish spot on. Fish taco - special fish for the day was a perfectly seared tuna. There is a peak of guacamole in between the two tortilla pieces. The only pet peeve I have with this dish is I wish they made their own fresh corn tortilla which would give it that extra touch. Po Boy - Today's Po Boy was scallops. That bread is soooo buttery with a crunchy texture, you can't help but salivate on your first bite. I was pleased with the amount of scallops you get. They were not selfish. The price was reasonable - $16 per roll.

Late lunch. Best fish taco I've ever had. Never thought I'd say that about a random fish market/oyster shack in Charleston, SC. Seared ahi tuna instead of a fried fish fillet. Amazing flavor, incredibly fresh ingredients. Just awesome. The extra slow cooked carnita taco, also, an A++++. Don't know what they're doing here but I don't care. There's no where better to pop in, grab a beer, some oysters, and some tacos. Only problem is I imagine, come summer, this place will be filled to the brim with tourists now that the word's out.

Loved this place? We had the lobster roll, Mahi Mahi taco, and half dozen oysters. All excellent! The lobster roll is a little pricey, but they aren't stingy with the lobster so I think it's justified. The Mahi tacos were outstanding (and I have a lot of fish tacos) and only 6$ apiece. Oysters were great if you love oysters, nothing crazy, just fresh. Great beer selection as well. The whole place is kind of Nantucket themed with the beer and food selection. Perfect for lunch!

What a find! Another hit with yelp help. We had fish tacos. Fresh mildly spicy. Great spot. Small so you might have to wait but it is worth it.

One of the few places I felt compelled to write a review about. My husband hates fish, but he agreed to come after I lured him in with the pork tacos. The staff was friendly, the beer choices were great, and the fish tacos CHANGED MY LIFE. But seriously, this is without a doubt my favorite food spot in Charleston now. The fish was fresh, the sauce was delicious, and the atmosphere was so cozy and welcoming. I even tried an oyster. I hated it. But I tried it because that's how excited I was about this place. Now I just need to convince my husband to try more fish so I have more excuses to come back here... Weekly.

Wow... As a first time visitor to Charleston, I was highly impressed with the food at 167 Raw. My boyfriend and I decided to try it based on the rave reviews on Yelp, and we were not disappointed! It is a very small place - only two bars to sit at and 2 or 3 tables. But it's a great atmosphere! We both ordered the lobster roll. It was exactly what we wanted in a lobster roll.... A lot of lobster!!! And not much else. Each lobster roll is dressed and made to order! The only downside... The price varies with the market. For two lobster rolls and two beers it was about $65, before tip. Despite the high price tag, it was WELL worth it. We will be back for these lobster rolls!

The most delicious scallops I've ever eaten! My daughter's Tuna burger was almost as good and only 1/8th as messy. The place was described as "divey" in one review. This was the least divey place you can imagine! However fabulous the food was I can't give 5 stars because when we arrived we were told to not take the open 4 top because they wanted to keep it available "in case a party of 5 arrived". We waited for 10 minutes for the promised two seats at the kitchen bar that would be available "in just a minute". Indeed those diners had paid but they were enjoying their wine. When I finally insisted we were seated but the guy was really snarky! I think the customers at your restaurant should be your first priority, not the group that "might come in" and it was 2:20 - not the lunch hour rush! Still, if you're in Charleston this place and Husk have to be on your list of must visit spots!

TOTAL FAN!!! SHRIMP TACO: it was delish but it was on the sweet side for me! So if you don't mind the sweet you might love it as well! FISH TACO: bomb.com !! LOBSTER ROLL: surprisingly good cause I don't like lobster (weird right?!) however the bread's a bit buttery GUACAMOLE DIP: to die for!!!

When you walk in you are greeted by fresh fish in a small meat cooler what a gorgeous site. The restaurant is tiny but comfortable and cozy. It encourages conversation and interaction. A colleague and I went for lunch on Friday the president was in town, or I'm guessing they would have been more packed. We sat at two stools on a bar facing into the kitchen. It was great watching the chefs at work and interacting with them about the food. The seafood was amazing...fresh, well cooked and presented beautifully. I had: 1/2 dozen raw oysters. They were delicious. Ahi pokè (raw chunks of yellow fin tuna in a teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds) incredibly fresh, it practically melted in my mouth. A halibut fish taco, lightly breaded and fried. Placed on two grilled flour tortillas with avocado layered between them with pickkled onions, cilantro and a wonderful sauce. The fish tacos and ceviche change daily. The staff was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

Awesome lobster roll. Highly recommend. Bread roll made fresh from a local bakery and it was crispy on top and sides; nice and buttery. Lobster chunks were cooked just right and you get plenty of it.

The tiny space feels much larger because the staff so attentive and warm. U r greeted at the door like a old friend. Came back for lobster Roll. Amazing! Everything I remember and drove 5 hrs for. I have a new favorite! The Tuna burger! Fresh bluefin chopped, formed into burger and seared!! Now I have 2 reasons to drive 5 hrs.

Visiting from Florida, I've had my share of great seafood. But 167 Raw managed to set the bar even higher than I expected. Worth every minute of waiting and every hard earned dollar. Staff: Friendly, knowledgeable, and overall a pleasure to be around Atmosphere: very small shop, with maybe 18 seats, so your wait times can vary wildly. But it's worth it! Food: Top Notch. There are always a wide variety to choose from, depending on your tastes. Every one I tried was full of flavor, and extremely fresh. The lobster roll is to die for (and properly made with a cut up top), as well as the scallop roll. Perfect.

An absolute must while in Charleston. My wife and always chase down the best seafood tacos, and the four we shared at 167 Raw were the best. We had a fried oyster, fried flounder, fried shrimp and a grilled halibut. They were so fresh and incredibly delicious! Also, the Key lime pie was homemade and tart and killer as well. All washed down with cans of Westbrook beers!! 178+ reviews AND rated 5 Stars?

I'm a major fan of seafood and I heard about this place and had to check it out. This food is SO fresh! And I mean Fresh!!! We got the lobster roll and fish sandwich (daily special of salmon) we told them we wanted to split it and when they served it to us they cut our sandwiches already and had it split. The people were so friendly, the service was great and the food was absolutely wonderful! It is worth the price and wait!! A must go to in Charleston if you like seafood!

There's a reason this restaurant has only 5 star reviews. It's insanely good. The design is fantastic. The staff is great. There isn't a single reason for anyone to award it less than 5 stars. I came here because of the Reviews and after eating, was compelled to leave one myself. I had a dozen oysters, 6 different kinds, for half off (unexpectedly!) due to 5-7pm happy hour. Every one of them was amazing. I also had two local brews from Westbrook Brewery, both were PERFECT with the food. I followed that up with the daily catch fish sandwich which BLEW MIND. WOW. I debated the key lime pie, but was too stuffed. Then I ordered the key lime pie. WOW. I have tried about 80 different ones and will say without hesitation that theirs is the best I've ever had. Ever. Design: 5 stars Food: 6 stars Service: 5 stars I'll be back. A lot.

Came here on our vacation. This was our favorite dining experience of the trip. Happened to stop by for lunch and was able to snag two seats at the bar. Clam bowl and guacamole were outstanding. We shared a variety of raw oysters, which were fresh and tasty. We also picked out three tacos. The surprise of the meal was the pork carnitas taco which came recommend by our server. The flavor was amazing. Try this! Overall a wonderful experience. We will return!

This is a great spot which we discovered through Yelp. We showed up towards the end of happy hour and ordered 4 beers and a dozen oysters at the very attractive happy hour prices. We got a selection of 4 different oysters which were all fresh and delicious. The bivalves were complemented by freshly grated horseradish, house made mignonette and hot sauce. We also got a lobster roll which was amazing, filled with succulent lobster in very light mayo and sprinkled with chives on a buttery toasted roll. Small and friendly neighborhood raw bar that is ready for the big time.

I think I made a few mistakes when I visited: 1) it was a busy lunchtime on a lovely Saturday with a cruise ship docked; 2) I went alone; and 3) I didn't order raw oysters or the lobster roll. Overall, it was not a relaxing dining experience. When busy, the small room is packed with people jostling for a spot. I've had less physical contact on a busy subway. They should put some thought into crowd control. Adding to the restaurant's anxiety level, the staff was literally running around dripping sweat and the stereo was too loud for the small space. I'm fine with eating alone when traveling for business, but some places make you uncomfortable. I didn't get the same attention as larger parties while waiting and was sat at a tiny rail facing a wall. Oh well, at least I didn't have to wait too long. If you go when busy, don't sit at the rail near the entrance, you'll get bumped the whole time by waiting diners and the sweaty staff. After being seated I found the host (?) unfriendly. Maybe he was just feeling harried. Being confused if the man was also my server, I asked if he could please take my order. His answer of, "I can have someone else do it if you want," was smartass. I ordered the Ahi Poke and crunchy Oyster Taco. The flavor of the Ahi was overpowered by soy sauce and the tortilla chips were very oily. I enjoyed the dish, but have have had better poke from Hawaiian supermarkets. The taco was the highlight of the experience. I might give 167 Raw another try on a slow night with company but would never go back on a weekend or alone. I'd also try the oysters and lobster roll which looked tasty.

Had a pretty long wait (25 minutes). This place is small--seats maybe 15 at a time, if that. We were a little rushed for time so that was a bit frustrating but it ended up being well worth the wait--the lobster roll was ideal, as there was plenty of lump, fresh lobster, a non-overwhelming sauce with it, and a high quality roll. The fried oyster po boy was also excellent. They almost lose a star for having a a table cloth that had some stains on it. But this is some seriously good fish.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST OF IT ALL! My wife and I were on our last night of vacation and saw this little dive. After checking the reviews and hearing what a couple of the locals said, we had to go. I don't write many reviews, so that should tell you how good this place is. Our server Sam was amazing from the moment we sat down. He made recommendations and his knowledge of the menu, as well as all the different kinds of oysters was awesome. This was the best experience in taste, service and atmosphere by far! I can't wait until we come next time just so we can eat here. Don't take my word for it, go try it yourself! I promise you will be glad you did and you'll certainly thank me.

Food is amazing. Period. We had the fish tacos, a pork taco, and the tuna burger. All were fresh and fantastic. Also, The staff was friendly. The only negative is the space. It's small, and it's not much to look at, but I care far more about the food taste and quality than the ambiance.

  • Mimi N.

The most expensive lobster roll I've ever had, but it was worth every penny. They used a whole lobster slightly chopped and marinated with a light mayo/lemon sauce. The lobster meat was fresh and sweet stuffed inside a warm buttery new England style bun. Overall perfection.

  • Geoff B.

To start off the food is excellent I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who reads this review. Though I loved the ceviche (halibut and grouper), the raw oysters and the lobster roll. The service was a little slow. I don't think it was really their fault, as they seemed short staffed and had a lot of orders to fill. But the staff was very nice and initiated in conversation with me and other costumers. I really like this restaurant and think you should give it a try.

"5 stars!!??", we thought as we walked by this restaurant on they way to a wedding and I checked out my handy Yelp app. Several hours later we were dining there and not disappointed! This is a tiny space but the atmosphere and staff were great. We had a drink while we waited in the small space and I chatted with some of the other excited guests. I ordered based on preference but also on what I had seen people rave about on Yelp. We ordered a dozen oysters from Maine. They were clean, delicious and perfect. We also ordered the lobster roll (yum), friend oyster taco (yum) and the guac and chips. The wine and beer list was impressive. We loved it and will definitely be back. A very unique and delicious eatery.

Place is killer - great guys and freshest seafood I've had in a long time. Be patient it is tiny - they will do their best to get you in. Oysters, crab claws, lobster roll, tacos - all unbelievable.

It may be small and look a little divey, but the food, drink and service is top notch. Absolutely worth the wait for our spot at the counter. We started with some of the Westbrook beers - always fun to try a local brewery and this one didn't disappoint. The guacamole was some of the best I've ever had--including my own-- and that's saying a lot! The fresh chips served with it were a treat too. The cocktail sauce is good and spicy. And the lobster roll? Oh, sweet heaven. The hot, buttery bread, the HUGE chunks of lobster, just the right amount of dressing. Seriously to die for. We would absolutely return the next time we visit and recommend it to any of our friends.

Fabulous seafood and cool, casual atmosphere. Quite tiny, and can get REALLY crowded but worth the wait. Lobster rolls and ceviche are A+

Got the ahi poke which was good and had a nice flavor, the fish was easy to chew and had a nice texture. The grilled mahi fish taco is what really took the cake. It seriously blew my mind it was the best fish taco I've ever had. Exceptional flavors that mix beautifully together. Ordered the key lime pie for dessert and it was amazing as well. It's made in house. We are on vacation from Houston and are here for a week we will be going back before we leave!

Such a great little spot for seafood! I wanted a lunch that was filling, but not too much. I got the sampler (shrimp, oysters and clam) with a Sauvignon Blanc, and it was PERFECT. I was full, but not stuffed. I even got a shirt there!

The lobster roll is simply the best and the environment is a lot of fun as well. Tried two fish taco as well and they were both top notch delicious. The staff was really kind and polite and saw that we were well taken care of whilst jarred in between all the other grateful attendees. Needless to say this place made kicking off my vacation a lot of fun with taste. My only complaint is the lack of seating, but that should only serve to highlight what a treat you're dining on. I'll be back.

  • Lance S.

had the oysters, grilled halibut sandwich, ahi poke, and mahi taco. nice bottle of rosé and a local gose beer. all delivered everything you could ask of them. very casual ambience with very knowledgable / friendly service. the best of many excellent dinners we brooklyn folk had in charleston.

  • Ishie S.

As many have mentioned, this place is very small so it can be hard to get a table, and the prices can be high, but if you want to get bang for your buck, do a dozen oysters at happy hour. They're half off, but just as fresh as any other time, and when you do that, it really is a fantastic deal and you'll be paying less than most of the other places around. The lobster roll is great, and since Charleston isn't a big lobster city, you're not really going to get one much cheaper than that, unfortunately. But the oysters: do them. You'll be glad you did.

Came in again after a few months away They've added multiple seats plus on weekends outdoor dining. My girlfriend and I thoroughly enjoyed the tuna burger, ceviche, and of course the lobster roll Darren and Kyle were lots of fun as they let us try some wines we've never heard of before (and we consider ourselves wine snobs!!!) Service is amazing as always. These guys are super gracious, fun, and eager to assist. The place gets packed quickly so come early, especially on the weekends....

Found this little place on Yelp and glad we dropped in. Reviewers were right, it's easy to miss with limited parking and seating. We were luck to get a table for four. Three of us had the Tuna burger - delish. One had the salmon salad - she loved i! Good beer and wine selection. Menu is limited, but EVERYTHING is good so you can't go wrong.

I brought my daughter here. It was her 1st visit to Charleston, and it couldn't have been a better introduction. The guys working here were super friendly, and the oysters were the best I've had (and I compare to Hyman's, Pearlz, Amen Street, Fleet Landing, etc). We will be back!

A hole in the wall that you probably would just walk by. Don't. The lobster roll is the best I have had outside of Maine. The staff is excellent and there are 4 seats at the kitchen bar where you can watch everything being prepared. The chefs were happy to explain what they were doing. I saw so many seafood dishes I wasn't too try we will definitely be back on our three day stay.

There are not many places that I'd literally be disappointed not to return to if I'm in the area, but 167 Raw is one of them. We found it when visiting Charleston because of a complimentary oyster deal they have posted on Yelp, and I'm still slapping my boyfriend on the back for the genius discovery. Walking in the front door and being immediately welcomed by the staff and greeted by a cozy fish market and some eight bar seats, four of which allow you to watch the chef prepare some spectacular dishes right in front of you. The fish market is originally from Nantucket but opened up a second location in Charleston about 2-3 month ago with a food bar as well. Walk down East Bay Street until you hit the Harris Teeter and look across the street. I won't put this on my list of places to grab a drink but the seafood can't be missed. With a short but diverse (and pricey) menu, my partner and I chose to go with the lobster role ($18) which was split for us (see attached photo) and four oysters (plus a complementary one for checking in on Yelp!) a buttery roll enclosed the flavorful lobster which was prepared fresh as soon as we ordered it. The dish came with pickled veggies and some extra crunchy potato chips. The oysters, from Canada, were served with a sweet but sour vinaigrette which complimented them perfectly. Once you're done eating your tab is calculated at the counter. The whole experience was lovely and I can't wait to return. I'm sure within six months this new little secret of Charleston will blow up and there will be a line out the door and never a seat open, although I really hope it remains a hidden secret. Until next time! P.S. This is my 100th review, glad I saved it for this treat!

Went here for a friend's birthday on a Thursday and was pleasantly surprised to hear there was a happy hour deal $1 off drinks and oysters! Enjoyed happy hour while waiting for our table. We started with the ceviche and a stone crab claw for each of us. All was delicious and fresh. For dinner, I got the tuna burger and it was the best tuna I've ever had! My friend ordered the lobster roll and was kind enough to share a bite with me and it was well worth the splurge. It is a very small place so arrive early or plan to wait a little while, but it is worth the wait! Plan to return when my family comes in town to visit. I've been talking up the tuna burger.

A hole in the wall place with excellent and fresh seafood. I saw Yelp review and so we decide to eat there at our first trip to Charleston, SC. We were doubting our decision when we got here. It is very small but we decided to wait for people to leave. We had seafood samplers, fried oysters which is to die for. Lobster roll which is same quality as Legal seafood in Boston and salmon sandwich which they didn't over killed the salmon. We have one more day here and hope we can squeeze some time to come back tomorrow.

Had the fish tacos(Flounder and Mahi), Oyster tacos, chips and Guacamole. The fish was not at all fishy. My intention was to order the Lobster Roll everyone was raving about, but was very disappointed to learn they were out of them. The staff is friendly.

Where to start! Staff was AMAZING! Engaged, funny and incredibly knowledgable. The food was over the top. Fresh. Imaginative and the dessert? Well! Warm bread pudding With a warm lovely topping. Too bad it's not on the menu. It's too die for! Well done. Well done!

Got the lobster roll here after much anticipation, was a bit disappointed. Not by the flavor or taste, because they were phenomenal, however, was pretty disappointed to see online reviews of the price to be $18ish? which isn't bad for a 6 inch lobster roll, however, when we got there and it was $27 and then got skimped on the actual lobster.. was a let down. Especially because the couple next to us got a massive heaping portion of lobster and they knew we were first time customers, you'd think they would do the opposite eh?

I was very excited to try this place after reading the great reviews, but have to say the experience was just "okay". My lobster roll was not nearly as meaty as many of those pictured by other reviewers (though the roll itself was delicious), and our server was kind of surly and inattentive. We were the last group to eat out of an influx of parties, even though we were the first to arrive. At first I thought that maybe they just ordered raw things with less prep time, but then I saw them eating items we had ordered. I understand that mix-ups happen, but at this point I was hangry. I would have enjoyed another beer during the waiting, but could not get someone's attention. In summary, my main qualms were with the service. The flavors did not disappoint. The girls I was with really enjoyed the guacamole (it looked delicious but I'm allergic to avocado), and the chip I sampled was really exceptional - hot, crispy, and salty. Again, the lobster roll tasted good but I'm not sure it was worth the market price of $22. Judging from other reviews it seems we visited on an off day - I'd be curious to visit again and try something else.

Great oyster selection, tacos were bananas good, and my first ever piece of key lime pie was amazing. The dining room is tiny, but if you can get a seat I would highly recommend giving it a try

I recently went to Charleston for a long weekend. Dinner at 167 Raw was the best meal that I had while I was there. We got the tuna poke, shrimp taco, fish taco, and lobster roll. Everything was delicious, but both tacos were out of this world good. The service was excellent as well. We went just before peak dinner hours, so the restaurant wasn't super crowded yet. (Side note: be prepared to wait if you're going during peak hours -- the restaurant only seats ~20 people.) Our waiter was friendly and took the time to chat with us about the restaurant's brief history as well as Charleston in general. This place is a must for everyone, especially those who like seafood.

Had a late lunch today. Well priced wine. Sampler platter was very fresh. Fish tacos were the best I've had in a while. Fantastic steaks of swordfish with perfect levels of garnish. Great level of heat, enough to feel without taking away from the fish. Guys shucking were on good form. Would love to return someday.

Great food in a small bar located off the main part of town with an excellent menu selection and beer and wine list. these guys are making a difference. The food was great with a fantastic atmosphere one of the best in Charleston

In Charleston for the night, I Yelp'd to find a place to eat and settled on 167 Raw. It's a very small space and they don't take reservations, so you go and put your name in and wait. And wait. The place was full when I got there and there were a few people waiting, so I ordered a Whale's Tale Pale Ale and waited for a spot to open up. About 30 minutes later, I was sitting at the bar and ordered the Ceviche, which was Grouper tonight, and a Fish Taco, which was Flounder. The Ceviche was excellent in a great, tart juice which "cooked" the fish. It came with crunchy homemade tortilla chips. The Flounder Fish Taco was the star. The flavor burst out of the soft taco with guacamole, cilantro and a very tasty sauce. I didn't want the taco to end! Really excellent! This place has oysters and lobster rolls. (I overheard the waiter tell a customer that "lobster prices are through the roof these days and the lobster roll is $27). The customer didn't flinch, and you shouldn't either. This place knows how to do fish. If you love fish, this is a very good place to go.

Love the atmosphere and food here. Not many seats but we went early and got a seat right away. Waiter was very personable and delivered great service.

By far the best raw bar/ seafood in Charleston. If I can pick anywhere to eat in the low country, it's 167. Not only are the staff the most hospitable, the food gives you the taste of the northeast in the south. Love it, can't wait to go back!

Just visiting for the day. This new (7 months old) restaurant captures the vibe and feel of a small Bew England fish market and hybrid restaurant. Personable, pleasant staff, great location, and walkable. Good selection of fresh fish and shellfish - - highly recommended. Best lobster roll I've ever had. Period.

This was one of our favorite finds on a recent trip to Charleston. Their seafood is all extremely fresh and delightful and the tuna burger is honestly one of the most satisfying things I have ever ate. Its a very small place so its best not to go there in a rush or if you are looking for quiet and intimate. However we sat facing the kitchen and had a great time interacting with the chef and learning some great things about his craft. Absolutely a must try for seafood lovers in Charleston!

Excellent! We had chips and guacamole, lobster roll, mahi sandwich, shrimp taco and a few cold beers. All were delicious!

Holy god my mouth tastes good.. Did I mention that they seem to employ Eye Candy Land approved workers. Phrasing... I mean oh my god the food tastes so good and the workers aren't that bad to look at. I need to do this again. Really like tomorrow. I need to eat another lobster roll. This will happen. Best dinner ever. Happiness. Epic happiness.

167 Raw was fantastic. We saw that it had opened on Eater Charleston and it was our first stop when we arrived in Charleston! We stopped in for a late lunch / dinner appetizer of lobster roll and tuna poke. Both were fantastic - the lobster roll was the best I've ever had (though the roll was a bit too buttery for my liking). The tuna poke was great, too, but I would've loved some sesame seeds on it. The owner and chefs were extremely nice and passionate about what they do. They even offered us a couple of oysters and shrimp to try! We sent a few fellow visitors at our bed and breakfast and they said it was great also. Byob for now but they will have their wine/beer license soon. Highly recommend!

Of course the oysters are fabulous, as they are at many places in Charleston..but go here for the Ceviche. I had the grouper Ceviche with some of their house made green hot sauce. That with a glass of sauvignon blanc was heaven. I also enjoyed the clam chowder, which is not your standard thick heavy version. All very good surprising that such young cooks could be this talented .

Excellent ceviche shared as an appetizer. Super friendly staff and knowledgeable about the menu and the local attractions. Darren waited on us and he was way cool. Our dog was welcome on the patio and service was highly attentive. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. Between the four of us We ate the salmon salad, the scallop po' boy, the lobster roll (amazing) and two tacos - carnitas and fried oyster. Best carnitas I've ever had. So far, best meal on our vacation.

So, this place was amazing!! We had the sampler appetizer, lobster roll, and a scallop po boy. The best lobster roll I have ever had and I've had some good ones! The service was terrific. It is very small but when we walked in where everyone was waiting we were immediately greeted and served a beverage while we waited. It was a fun atmosphere because you could see all the action and the servers and cooks were beyond helpful and fun to talk to. Hands down the most fun, best food we had while visiting. You may have to wait a while so don't go really hungry, but the wait is worth it!!

  • Guido T.

Best lobster roll ever. Great atmosphere. Freshest food. The Tacos are also great, particularly the fried oyster one. We had raw oysters and halibut ceviche. You can't go wrong. Would suggest they expand the wine list and add some champagne options.

Small and quaint, the oysters were superb. It's casual and fresh. The staff was very cool and we will be back for the oysters

It tasted like the lobsters, tunas, and oysters jumped out of the ocean and into my mouth. Everything was so fresh! The wait was long but it was so worth it. Going to go again before we leave Charleston, it was that good!

Visiting from San Clemente, CA and Kaunakakai, HI where the fish is great. We stopped in for dinner and our server Logan recommended the Trio (only the proprietor knows this what this is) and the special fish sandwich. Both were fantastic. A must visit when in Charleston!

Incredible lobster roll, tacos and NB oysters (my favorite). The house white wine was a great accompaniment to the oysters and lobster roll. Don't walk, run to this little gem.

Arrived and had to wait around 20 minutes since the 2 tables for 4 were both occupied. The wait was worth it. The staff are friendly and all the foods tasted great! Key lime pie is pretty mediocre to be honest. Cozy feeling to it and the 5 stars are well deserved!

This place has everything great food and great atmosphere! Its a close drive to my parents house so going to see them is always a plus when we come here. Definitely recommend getting the Lobster Roll it is great. Not only does the bread taste fresh but the lobster is so freshly prepared, that it makes the sandwich taste that much better. Go here!!

  • Ashlee H.

One of the best lobster rolls you will ever have. It can be a bit pricey, as it is always changing as the market price changes. The brioche (i think) but is toasted and buttery and the sauce they use tops it all off. The staff is always friendly. It can be a bit crowded, as it is a small place. Other deliciousness sandwiches I've tried are: - Scallop Po'Boy (if available, changes daily) Could rival for first place - Fried Oyster Po' Boy (if available, changes daily) - Smoked blue crab dip ( if available) We got it to go for a get together and everyone loved it. It had just the right amount of smokiness.

Obviously, the hospitality of the south has not made it to 167 Raw. We spent $100 on oysters on and they told us to "google it" when we asked them to call a cab. Oysters: Awesome. Service: maybe Northerners might feel at home. My thought : needs work.

We have gotten take out food from this spot several times. A family favorite is the lobster roll - a bit pricey, but delicious. Another frequently ordered item, the ceviche never disappoints.

Perfect!

This was one of our favorite places! Very small, limited seating. We thankfully got there just in time and only had to wait a few minutes. We started with the oysters and they were delicious! We got to try 3 different kinds. The fish tacos were so good I ended up ordering another one and so did my husband! This place is a gem and a must try if your in Charleston!

  • Bec J.

Tiny place, 17 seats, and limited menu but what they do they do extremely well. Seafood was as fresh as it gets. The two owners are friendly and service is good. Decent selection of beer and wine but no taps.

  • Chris S.

Amazing all around! The lobster roll, catch of the day (mahi), and fried oyster taco were fabulous. They have a perfectly-sized and complimentary wine list and menu.

Xo

  • Julie P.

Lobster roll was fantastic. The fish taco was decent, not my favorite. Very small and low key, but perfect for a quick meal. The service was timely and on point. Get the lobster roll if you decide to swing by.

Lobster rolls were so good that we ordered 3 of them! Fish taco with halibut and Shrimp taco were very good as well. Lobster roll was pricy at $24 each. Enjoyed the service!

    (3)
  • Nicole C.

Meh.

Very small place but friendly bunch. The oysters were great, three different kinds and no crackers but they were fabulous.

Stopped in for lunch on a whim just because it is close and it turned out to be the best stop on our vacation! We had the poke, fish and shrimp tacos and the blue fin pate. All great. The Chef was fun to watch and great to talk to. We will go here as often as we can while in Charleston.

  • Steve K.

Perfect.

  • Linda F.

Incredible Lobster Rolls and fish tacos. They had swordfish that day! As an added bonus, they carry Beausoleil New Brunswick Oyster...so delicious!! Great guys, great space, great food!!!! Highly Recommended!!!!

Where to start! Staff was AMAZING! Engaged, funny and incredibly knowledgable. The food was over the top. Fresh. Imaginative and the dessert? Well! Warm bread pudding With a warm lovely topping. Too bad it's not on the menu. It's too die for! Well done. Well done!

Excellent food and service. Had to wait a bit but was worth it. Really fresh seafood. Great selection of wine and beer.

Had the fish tacos(Flounder and Mahi), Oyster tacos, chips and Guacamole. The fish was not at all fishy. My intention was to order the Lobster Roll everyone was raving about, but was very disappointed to learn they were out of them. The staff is friendly.

Fantastic food. Super fresh. We had a few oysters, the tuna burger, lobster roll, and carnita taco. Seriously, eat here. It was incredible.

I'll be back.

had the oysters, grilled halibut sandwich, ahi poke, and mahi taco. nice bottle of rosé and a local gose beer. all delivered everything you could ask of them. very casual ambience with very knowledgable / friendly service. the best of many excellent dinners we brooklyn folk had in charleston.

Yummm

These guys are doing it right! We went by around noon, packed so we went back around 3 for Oysters & ceviche. 1st come 1st serve, so plan on that. It's worth the effort.

I love this place. Small place which makes it good to meet folks. If you like seafood that is not fried then this is your place. The large selection of oysters is fantastic. Good good, great beer, excellent wine.

EXCELLENT fresh seafood. Reasonable prices also. We are very glad that we came to this small establishment, instead of the big tourist trap places. We had the fish civiche (haddock today), fish tacos and carnitas. Everything was just great.

  • Crystal G.

TINY tiny dining room where my 'table for one' was a marble slab fixed to a narrow stretch of the wall adjacent to the entrance. I happily gobbled my flounder sandwich from my awkward perch and can't wait to go back. Great menu, terrific staff and delicious seafood!

Ohmygod.

  • Paige M.

Ok.. being from New England the Lobster roll was top notch. Mind you the the Lobster is all claw. The prepared it to perfection.. sauce and all. 18.dolars per ..... fyi. I had ordered a second.

Everything was superb. When I went to Neptune in Boston and tried their lobster roll I thought that was the best until I tried Raw's. You have to try it. Don't skip the ceviche, it is excellent.

Awesome place with very fresh seafood. Small place, only seats 20, great guys that own the place and very creative with their ingredients. Ceviche was to die for! I would highly recommend to anyone that enjoys fresh seafood.

It tasted like the lobsters, tunas, and oysters jumped out of the ocean and into my mouth. Everything was so fresh! The wait was long but it was so worth it. Going to go again before we leave Charleston, it was that good!

  • Emaan M.

Delicious! Michelle T. and I had the fish taco of the day (mahi), and my others friends got the carnitas taco. We shared guacamole and the key lime pie. Everything was fresh and service was great. Wish there was one these places in NY!

The lobster roll is the best I've had you date. Fried clams were just as amazing. The manager was very helpful, friendly, and informative.

Bravo, 167.

Do not miss this place! Their food is delicious and you will have a unique dining experience. We tried the lobster roll, oysters, and pork tacos. Everything was out of the world! It is a small place so you might have to wait for a table.. it is most definitely worth it!

Incredible lobster roll, tacos and NB oysters (my favorite). The house white wine was a great accompaniment to the oysters and lobster roll. Don't walk, run to this little gem.

The oysters are absolutely delicious. They are fresh and taste wonderful. Simple seasoning, cold and refreshing taste of New England. Small place so make sure you come before the crowd comes in.

  • Max S.

Arrived and had to wait around 20 minutes since the 2 tables for 4 were both occupied. The wait was worth it. The staff are friendly and all the foods tasted great! Key lime pie is pretty mediocre to be honest. Cozy feeling to it and the 5 stars are well deserved!

YUM!

Go here!!

Visiting from San Clemente, CA and Kaunakakai, HI where the fish is great. We stopped in for dinner and our server Logan recommended the Trio (only the proprietor knows this what this is) and the special fish sandwich. Both were fantastic. A must visit when in Charleston!

  • Tope L.

  • Gina H.

Excellent ceviche shared as an appetizer. Super friendly staff and knowledgeable about the menu and the local attractions. Darren waited on us and he was way cool. Our dog was welcome on the patio and service was highly attentive. Everyone enjoyed their lunch. Between the four of us We ate the salmon salad, the scallop po' boy, the lobster roll (amazing) and two tacos - carnitas and fried oyster. Best carnitas I've ever had. So far, best meal on our vacation.

  • Erika V.

  • Scott P.

Awesome experience and fantastic oysters. A definite must in Charleston. The chips and guacamole were also amazing!

Hole in the wall that sells fresh seafood and cooks it. We had some tacos, oysters, and tuna poke -- 5 stars.

Maybe the best raw oysters I have ever had. The albacore tuna tacos and shrimp tacos were incredible. The combination of the selection of local food, beer, and the thoughtful and intimate service make this place stand out.

Exactly the place you want to eat for fresh seafood. The lobster roll is awesome! Oysters fresh and good variety. If you are asking yourself is this yelp score real, this place is new, the answer is yes it's accurate and you should go.

OMG, this is the best frikkin food. Temperature hot! Delicious! Clam chowder is awesome. Swordfish taco is soooooo tasty. And the lobster roll ... holy sh*t! The guys are friendly and accommodating. Extremely casual atmosphere. 167 Raw is the place in town for an excellent seafood lunch.

Kyle the owner was so helpful and explained everything to us without making us feel dumb. They are small and intimate but with great selection. Don't leave Charleston without going here, great fresh seafood with outstanding service. We will definitely be back!

While very small in area the owners and staff made this a great spot for lunch! The lobster roll was as good as being in New England! The shrimp taco and the pork carnita taco was very good. Recommend this tiny gem!

Get the Lobster Roll! Brought my sister and brother-in-law here before they headed back to Germany and loved it! They're crossing their fingers it'll still be around when they come back home in 2 years!

We wanted to try everything on the menu. We settled for a dozen west coast oysters and split the daily fish sandwich. Certainly a go to place if you like oysters on the half shell. Very friendly staff.

Amazing lobster roll and oyster tacos, friendly environment, and gorgeous simple presentations. Great for a casual lunch, not a whole lot of seating if you have a large group. They have a fantastic fresh seafood market as well as some prepared foods. I would strongly recommend this place.

Awesome. Had a dozen raw oysters. They were 4 types, all great. Fish taco, fresh homemade corn chips and guacamole. Everything fresh and just the best. Servers and chefs very friendly and attentive. One of the best places I've eaten.

Awesome place. Sit at the bar. Kyle was super cool. Fresh oysters. Lobster roll was on point. My lady drank a mimosa. And I had a mud porter. If you like Guiness it's legit.

Excellent fresh seafood. The seasonal oysters were everything a fresh oyster should be. All of us ordered the lobster roll which was delicious. Upon return I would love to try the tuna burger.
