Fieldstones is a great "go to" place if you live in the area. The service has always been quick and helpful and the menu has plenty of delicious options to choose from. I personally love the pulled pork nachos here. They are the best nachos around and I can't pass them up! The burgers and specials have always been good as well. They have trivia on Wednesdays nights if you feel like getting out for a challenge.

My daughters, friends, and I love Fieldstone's! Last night I took one of my daughters, who ordered a Mai Tai and Shepherds Pie. I opted for a Lemon Drop Martini and the Patriot Nachos. Our cocktails, food, and server were all AWESOME! India was both professional and friendly, and she remained cool and calm despite the fact that the restaurant was packed. I just might take my other daughter there tonight.

I live right down the street and anytime my family says "hey, where should we go to eat?" And like ever other time someone asks that question we all look at each other for just a moment before saying "FEILDSTONES!"

Had appetizers and beers this trip but it was not my first time at Fieldstones. Patriot nachos are the best ever. The stuffies aren't my favorite, I prefer a different texture for my stuffies, these are very smooth, but my boyfriend likes them. Service is great. Cozy atmosphere. Definitely will go back.

Excellent atmosphere and great food. I was really impressed with the menu and the quality of the food. The service was fantastic and the prices were surprisingly affordable. We will definitely stop by again next time we are in the area!

This place is literally across the street from our beach house. I'm embarrassed to admit how often we eat here especially for lunch. The lobster roll here are the best. Hands down. THE BEST. Big pieces of lobster and very little mayo. SO good. They people here are always friendly. We will continue to come here as often as we can for the lobster rolls. Nom nom nom.

When I think of a great lobster roll I think of fieldstones restaurant. I have had my share of lobster rolls all over the state and beyond RI. Theirs is a 10.

I was pleasantly surprised about this place but only gave it 4 stars due to consistency. We arrived late to town after traveling to the Newport area and received this recommendation from someone at the campsite, I was a little sceptical but it was close, we were hungry, and I couldn't bring myself to eat the chain store (Chili's, Friday's, etc.) crap. The drink menu was impressive and had a good selection, I had a Dark and Stormy which was made perfectly with a good strong kick and locally brewed ginger beer and my wife had a fruity Margarita, it too packed quite a punch and wasn't girly. Good start to the weekend. Next the food came and we were both very happy with our selections, we started with fried Squid with red cherry peppers and a balsamic glaze. I'm always in search of great Rhode Island Portuguese influenced squid and this was one of the better dishes. A little too much kick for the kids but that's ok, more for me. My wife had the French onion soup which she and the kids loved, they mixed in fresh tarragon which gave it a unique flavour and paired well with the mound of gruyere. For dinner my wife had butternut squash ravioli with goat cheese and chorizo which was heavenly and gone in minutes while I had the fish and chips which was done just right. The coating was fried properly and at the right temperature so it wasn't greasy and was mixed with Sam Adam's and was seasoned properly so it didn't require additional salt or malt vinegar. We enjoyed our meal so much we stopped for lunch on the way out of town on Sunday and unfortunately we were a bit disappointed. I had a short rib cibatta steak sandwich while my wife had the French onion soup again along with a flatbread pizza. The sandwich was ok, lacked flavour and was served with a mound of thin fried onions which were greasy. The soup was just ok this time, the herbs were all stuck into the cheese and didn't mix to the beef broth so it lacked depth. The flatbread pizza was .... bad. I don't think the oven was hot enough as the crust was raw and soggy. They also mixed pepper jack cheese into 4 cheese pie which didn't mix well with the garlic marinara sauce and other cheeses. Bottom line, great place to try and it's well outside the busy Newport area but go on a Friday/Saturday night instead of a Sunday afternoon as either the chef was hung over or the called in the B team.

Great place. - It's casual - The staff are very friendly - The food is really good - The menu has lots of options - The specials are really interesting and delicious (orange habanero salmon...) - Portions are huge - Plenty of parking Cons are that there are NO veggie burgers and they don't take reservations unless you have 8+ people in your party. These are *massively* outweighed by the pros listed above. There aren't a lot of eating choices in Portsmouth RI, but this is really an excellent place!

A friend who lives in the area suggested we head to Fieldstones for lunch. I ordered the Fish and Chips lunch. I will say that it did come with a lot of food (Clam chowder, Fish, french fries, and cole slaw). The fish was very greasy and the coating on the fish was a very dark brown color (maybe the oil in the kitchen is dirty?). I decided to take the coating off the fish and noticed they didn't even remove the skin from the filet before frying it. This is the first time i've ever seen this and i have ordered fish and chips from many establishments. The fries were saturated in oil and soggy and the coleslaw was as dry as the napkin next to my plate. I've seen other reviews where repeat customers call the consistency into question. Perhaps i was just there on an off day? I'm not sure... but what i am sure about is that i will not return. Especially since the staff isn't very friendly or attentive.

So this was a random 9pm stop-in on the way home from Newport. In the future, it won't be so random. This place is solid! Quick, super friendly service. Menu was mainly American fare. The kind of great delicious go-to place when you can't decide where to go. We had the lobster roll and a burger. We really enjoyed them both. I mean, for realzies, the burger was super good! The menu also included a selection of great looking bigger plates, and since we were seated near the kitchen, we were able to see them all come out. I kinda wanted to taste it all. In conclusion, a great locals spot with good food and friendly service. What more could you want? Oh you do want more? The prices were totally accessible! We had the burger, lobstah roll and a beer and it was only about $30. So stop by here on your way up north after the beach and enjoy yourself.

always busy and always good. Solid menu with good food. very good bar. I like the burgers and sirloin tips. last time i was there we had 6 adults and 7 kids. No reservations, and it didn't even faze them even with a full house.

We went at early dinner time on a Tuesday night and they told us it was a 40 minute wait. I asked if there were a lot of people ahead of us and just one family was. We were a party of 4 and I saw a bunch of tables open but the hostess didn't budge. With no where to stand or go we left. Disappointed. Just seems weird to make people wait that long with so many tables sitting right there and like 6-7 waiters on for a not-so-big dining area. Not a good place on a Tuesday - can't imagine a Friday or Saturday wait time. Never been and have no idea about the food but with wait times like that for a local place I'm not going to be back anytime soon...

I just had a very nice lunch here, ordered the Clam Chowder and Breaded Chicken Cutlet Sandwich special. Both were very good. Friendly and quick service. Not my first meal here all have been excellent. I recommend this place definitely.

Route 138 (a.k.a. East Main Road) is a long, narrow way in and out of Newport that lies somewhere between a highway and an old country road. You sense that time has grown up and changed the landscape of 138; what may once have been farmland and large residential front yards has given way to convenience stores, gas stations, restaurants and the occasional shopping center. But the four lane highway is so thin, with no median separating you from the vehicles that speed past in the opposite direction, that you're likely to miss it all in the hope of avoiding a scary accident. Fieldstones is among the restaurants on this stretch of roadway that you might miss. Tucked into a small shopping center in Portsmouth, it resembles a big, yawning barn: all wooden clapboards and rural charm. The décor inside is light, open and spare. There are traces of regional history decorating the main dining room, and a bar on the other side with big-screen TV's playing sports. Service is friendly and quick. Some local brews are on tap at the bar, and the menu - whether you're having a complete sit-down meal or just splitting a quick appetizer - is good. The Patriot Nachos are particularly great. And they offer an ever-changing selection of soups, salads and entrée specials, often in keeping with the season. During the week the restaurant offers specials, which you should call ahead to investigate: one night in particular they serve up a margarita special. You might not think that this place could possibly fill to capacity, because it's still several miles off the beaten path into downtown Newport. But the locals know that it's a terrific go-to spot and as a result, on weekend nights, especially during the summer when you factor visiting friends and relatives into the mix, you could very likely experience a wait to be seated (though it's nothing like waiting to be seated somewhere on Thames Street on a Saturday night in August). If you're looking for an authentic Newport dining experience, this isn't it. However, if you're en route to Newport and want to avoid that whole dining scene, Fieldstones is an ideal solution: a cozy place to settle in and enjoy a satisfying meal, with a small town feel.

We stopped in here for lunch, before heading to Newport. They rate an easy four stars, flirting with five, for the quality of there food. We had stuffys, NE chowder, lobster rolls and seared scallops w/ mixed greens. The scallops had been coated with sesame seeds before being seared, and had a sort of blackened effect. The restaurant is clean and the service was good. Lunch for four, with tip, was about $100.

Very cute, hard to spot from the road, and definitely not touristy! I had the Lobster roll which had lots of lobster and not too much mayo or other filler. Good food and good value.

Sad to say this place is awful. Their cocktails are poorly made and their food is incredibly greasy. It has a quaint look, but that's about it. Am hoping new ownership comes in at some point because the place has potential.

As always, Fieldstone's food & service is very good. However, they should consider rethinking crowd control for those waiting for tables. As it was too cold to wait outside, our only option, to avoid blocking aisles, was to stand behind the patrons on stools at the bar. Upon leaving, a rude & obnoxious individual accused me of standing too close to him!'. It was my husband's birthday. Needless to say our festive mood left us. On second thought, we should have gone to Bouchard's as originally planned. Fieldstone's should perhaps post their "rules of engagement".

We had received a gift card for this restaurant and decided to try it out. I was not impressed at all with the kids menu. Most everything was fried and came with fries and soda. I have not seen soda as the drink of choice on a kids menu in a very long time. I ordered the fajitas and they were just so so. I don't remember what my husband ordered, but I know it wasn't memorable.

You have got to try the Patriot Nacho's...but beware...you probably won't be able to finish your dinner(we couldn't)-it's huge. We enjoyed a great dinner in a cozy country atmosphere and our waitress was spot-on and super friendly. Two people-dinner with appet. and drinks-mid 60.00 (I had the sirloin at 22.00) Another keeper..got to try the Chicken Pot Pie next time..it looked and smelled so good and it's only 10 bucks.

Love this place! Great food while still being totally comfortable taking our three year old. Service is always wonderful, though the hostess could use a little more pep, but that's just me being picky.

i admit to groaning a bit when this looked like the only place that was open on our way back from the newport folk festival. i mean, a grill-e with twinkle lights? immediate thoughts: 1) this place is going to have terrible food, and 2) this place is going to have terrible food AND is going to be pricey. but i misjudged you, fieldstones. your tacky decor is no indicator of sub-par dining. if you're not ordering the seafood i'm not sure what's wrong with you, since the ocean is basically across the street. i don't think i've ever had a larger or tastier fish in fish-and-chips, and my partner in crime was in love with his stuffed quahog. and sure, while it's not the cheapest place around, there are definitely reasonable options to get you out and full and happy at under $20 (or even under $15 depending on how refined your tastes). quick and friendly service, tasty and reasonable food, fieldstones, may i recommend a remodel? your awful interior is the only thing keeping you from 5 stars in my book.

Great place! I was almost expecting one of those places you go to where the patrons are mostly aged 60 and over, but not so! I got the Chicken Fajita Taco Salad, which was grilled marinated chicken breast, diced tomatoes, onions, romaine lettuce, shredded cheese and sour cream in a crispy tortilla shell served with cilantro lime dressing. It was fantastic. The cilantro lime dressing tasted like it was made by angels. It's actually creamy which I didn't expect. As for service, our waitress was super perky and nice, very quick on the drink refills and serving of food. A+. I live down the street, so I'll definitely come back.

Our Newport weekend was a washout weatherwise..............booooo!!!! But we found this great little restaurant............yayyyyyyyyyyyyy! After striking out with hour plus wait times on a Sunday night in various restaurants in downtown Newport we decided to drive a bit and try this place. The dining room is clean and quiet and the service is very quick. We found the food prices reasonable and the quality very good. The only negative is the price of a draft beer domestic small brew at $5, seems a bit high, otherwise OK.

Good, consistent, unpretentious food in generous portions. Bar if you're so inclined. Relaxed and casual with friendly staff. You could do worse and around here you probably will.

REALLY GOOD! Every Monday & Tuesday is special Fajita night. Sizzling Fajitas (Chicken or Steak) & Margaritas for $12.99. Place was packed for a Monday night, but service was quick and food was terrific

A good place to go with some friends. It's a bit farther out compared to the Newport restaurants, but a good choice with reasonable prices. There are a handful of beers on tap and a good selection of cocktails. The drink prices were surprisingly high considering the distance from the tourist Mecca of Newport. However the food selection includes a variety of salads and sandwiches. It is very busy on the weekends so be prepared to have a long wait. I went there as a party of 4 and we had a 40 minute wait on a Friday evening.

  • Kristin W.

I've been to Fieldstone's twice. The first time was on a busy Friday night. There was a wait, and there's not much room to wait. Service was friendly. Food was pretty good. My husband and I just recently stopped in for a Friday afternoon lunch without the kids and had a GREAT meal! We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely helpful, friendly and FUNNY! Great selection of tap brews. We both had the steak wraps, which were a special that day. They were delicious. I had a side salad with balsamic vinaigrette (awesome) and hubby had a side of onion rings, which were also great. Adorable restaurant with a local feel and a diverse menu. We'll definitely be back!

Their patriot nachos are not too shabby. Portions to prices are pretty good too. 4 of us split the nachos and we all only ate half of our meals because we were so full! The portsmouth cuban was FULL OF PORK. So much pig, so if you dig pig, order it. The wraps are HUGE. A friend of mine ordered from the ends menu, so it wasn't a big deal and they didn't mind it. Service was reallly, realllllllly slow. We ordered something to go, a reuben. We waited almost 30 minutes for it. Really? Not sure why, they were not busy. But we saw a table that sat next to us, they were sitting there for 20 mins no one helped them. When someone finally gave them menus, they waited another 20 mins and eventually moved to the bar because no one was helping them. Food was fine, but service was really just subpar from overall observation.

We have gone to Fieldstones a few times now and the food is consistently good. The service is really fast (remember to ask for bread if you want any) and the food is good. We have tried sandwiches, the shepherds pie (really good), and some of the pasta dinners. While they dont have a huge menu everything sounds tasty and I usually have a hard time making up my mind. The deserts are also really good. I really enjoy their seasonal bread pudding. I highly recommend it. The place has a relaxed atmosphere and is clean. They also have a few price points.

We stopped in here for lunch and had fish and chips and a lobster roll. Large portions but a tad pricey in my opinion. For two lunch specials and two drinks, we spent $33 before tip. Overall though, we liked it.

Fieldstone's is a great little restaurant in Portsmouth. It has a large variety on the menu with dishes of fajitas to burgers to chicken pot pie. Fieldstone's is a great place for a late night bite to eat. They have very large and rich portions which I suggest sharing with someone. The service is great! What makes me only give the review for stars was my last visit when I had the Shepard's Pie. It was dangerously salty and it had a odd taste to it, not like other one's I have had. Be sure to order a Fieldstone Sundae for dessert and to ask the waitress for a few extra forks and napkins, you'll need them!

Vanilla, just like Portsmouth. Boring menu, flat waitstaff, loud dated dining room. Bummer.

    (2)
  • Christine M.

I love it here. It may not be in Newport, per se, but it's consistently good food, the wait staff is attentive and nice, and there's parking...hallelujah! If you get here later than 7, you'll probably have a wait ahead of you, but grab a drink at the bar. Recommended: stuffies, salads, nachos...just about anything, really.

    (4)
  • J. R. H.

Mea Culpa perhaps, but I didn't get a good vibe here. The parking lot shows lots of customers, so they must be doing something right? For me the food selection was mediocre at best. The service was just OK too. I guess I'm looking for that little something extra when I dine out -- food that's better than I cook at home, atmosphere that is memorable and enjoyable, prices that make a memorable value. None of those are here for me. This is a good place to bring kids. They also have a separate bar area which is good enough to meet friends for a tipple.

Off the beaten path in an unlikely place you'll find this gem. The menu is definitely atypical containing things like a chicken pot pie, a salmon sandwich, and four kinds of soup. To properly gauge, I went for the bacon cheeseburger - but with sweet potato fries! It was wonderful. Well cooked, visually appealing, served on a fresh bun and the sweet potato fries were amazing. My friend had the Bristol Ferry which is the salmon sandwich with bacon, red onion and lettuce on ciabatta. He loved it as well. I was there at the tail of the lunch rush, and I thought the service left a little to be desired. Even sitting at the bar, we were pretty neglected and I was late returning to work because we had to wait about 10 minutes to settle the tab. I hope this is an isolated incident, because there were many more things to try on the menu that sounded yummy...and now I know the kitchen puts a lot of work into their food. Last item - bill was $37 for two lunches and a beer apiece. I think that's pretty steep, I can eat twice or three times at delicious places on that money. Won't stop me from returning, just will stop me from returning as frequently as I'd like.

This place is great! Lots of good choices and really reasonable prices. The staff is friendly. Can't really ask for much more. Some of the food combinations sound great, like poached haddock with onions peppers, churico, and littlenecks in a tomato wine broth. Excellent experience!

  • Tom And Nichole P.

Food - good but not great. (we had fish & chips and fettucine alfredo, both satisfying but nothing to write home about) The portions were enormous, but simple. It was definately a relaxed atmosphere, and def seemed the be the place where the locals hung out. In a pinch, a reliable homey place

This is a small, friendly, and well run establishment with a solid menu of pub favorites and eclectic entrees. The staff is attentive and eager to please. My favorite comfort meal is a made to order burger with blue cheese and the best onion rings in the state. When my wife is watching, their salads are fresh, appetizing with a variety of toppings and your selection of protein add-ons.

Service is fast ... good food. A bit pricy, but it won't break the bank. I suggest the fajitas. They were very tasty!

Solid local establishment. Always busy which is a good sign. Menu is varied and reliable with interesting specials. They do a great job with seasonal and holiday selections including decorations and other festivities. Fajitas on Monday's are excellent.

We stayed in town for a night, wanted seafood and this place had good reviews. We got the calamari for an appetizer and it was really, really good. Good sized portion, as well. My husband got the pasta dish with shrimp, peppers, mushrooms (he can't remember the name) and thought it was okay, at best. They only give you a few skimpy sized shrimp and a TON of bow tie pasta. For $18, the dish was NOT worth it. I got the seafood platter which was listed as haddock, scallops, shrimp, fries and coleslaw. I'm not a coleslaw person at ALL and asked if it would be possible to substitute a vegetable and was told I could not - this kind of surprised me as I have always had a restaurant gladly sub something for another, if reasonable. Any restaurant I've ever worked in does the same. So, I found that a bit rude, especially since the dinner was $20. I also only got 3 shrimp and 3 scallops and a small piece of haddock which was mostly thick breading. The waitress was okay, not particularly friendly or attentive, in her early 50's and her perfume was SO STRONG and horrible, it gave me a headache. The place was full of middle aged, stuffy looking people and the decor was sort of blah. The bathroom was very clean, which is a huge plus. I wouldn't call this place terrible but I'd never go back.

Unfortunately we are not able to write a review of the food only the bad experience while attempting to dine at Fieldstones. After an afternoon at the Mansions we checked out this site for reviews of places in the area. Ultimately decided based on these reviews we'd give Fieldstones a shot. Arrived around 5:30 on a Friday evening with a party of six, 4 adults and 2 children (10 and 8). We weretold the wait would about 15 to 20 minutes. After about 20 minutes the Hostess came over and told us our table would be available in "a couple minutes" as they were just cleaning it off. After waiting another 10 minutes we asked the Hostess if the table was almost ready. We were then told the table was reserved for a party of 7 and that we would have to wait for another HOUR. We were shocked that we weren't told of the situation when they realized the mistake was made and that we had to approach them. We had checked prior to going and based on this website it's noted they don't take reservations, but when asked they only do for parties of 8 or more. At this point we decided we would snack on the cheese and crackers we had in the car and head home. Hopefully this will be a learning experience for them on how to better treat their customers and this isn't the norm for them.

I love this place, my girlfriend and I like to sit at the bar and have dinner and drinks. The people there are always great and the food is good and reasonably priced. Only downside is that this place seems to be mobbed every night of the week even in the off season. I get the feeling the staff does not mind though.

Since moving to Portsmouth in October of 2010 we have visited Fieldstones a handful of times. We have never been disappointed. The service has been very good and reliable. The kids enjoy the wraps especially the Firecracker. I try a different entree each time we visit and all are very good. Their specialty is fajitas which are outstanding. The nachos are well worth trying as well. We really enjoy the down home, slow paced, warm atmosphere.

Fieldstones is a great place to get a sandwich or a full meal. The price's are reasonable and the service is great. They have great salads too. I think it's nice to have a place with really good food like nightly specials but if your not that hungry you can also get a great burger, sandwich or salad anytime. Oh did I mention they have great wines by the glass.

  • Gus C.

I really have nothing to complain about this place!! Well.. maybe the wait! Seems as if every time I visit, there's at least a 5 to 10 minute wait... but oh well.. that goes to show that this place is always in high demand, and rightfully so!! The food is always timely, fresh, nice and warm... and service is always genuinely friendly! MOnday specials for margarita/fajitas are a can't miss! Patriot nachos.... never dissapoint either! This is a very underated place just because it's not in Newport, but this place could stand right next to any others in the island!!

Fieldstones is one of my go to places.i love the waitstaff especially Kim who always stops by even if were not in her section. The food is always consistent. The bar is great and if it's busy you can grab a bite right there The Asian salmon salad is wonderful. It has a great glaze on it and presentation is beautiful. There's plenty of Parking and there some great little stores right in the plaza. In case you want to look around. They do take reservations for larger parties. It's a must try. Portsmouth doesn't have much choice in places to eat so it can get busy . Worth the wait. :)

I Yelped this yesterday after our hike. I've driven by this place for close to a dozen years. I'm so very sad now that I waited so long. Cozy inside. Not very big but if it were any bigger it would lose its charm. There are two separate areas. One is the bar section with tables as well and the other room separated with just tables and kid friendly as well. Our waitress Holly was prompt and friendly. I ordered off of the specials menu. I very rarely order crispy chicken as I prefer grilled. However my sweet chili chicken wrap with bacon was perfect in every way. It was crispy chicken without tasting greasy and my bacon was crispy without asking for it that way. My boyfriend got what could have been a potentially very messy burger but he didn't get a drop on him which is rare. He said it was so juicy but I saw nothing dribble onto his shirt or the plate. I did see an empty plate however. I know that we will be back to this gem. It's just a matter of deciding if I want chicken alfredo or fish and chips next time. Oh and someone try the nachos and let me know what you think. I couldn't get over the size of the plate I saw.

Service is always great and we enjoy the atmosphere, but the last couple of meals have not been up to their usual standards. Two of us had their specialty lobster rolls last weekend and for the second time in a row, they were relatively full, but not overflowing as they always were and bragged about in the past, or even for the old price point, though the price continues to increase. Sadly, they no longer have one of the better lobster rolls in the area and so we won't be going back for them in the future.

We had an early dinner as a family of four. Our server was great and overall service was also great. We had the littlenecks as appetizer. They were very good. My husband ordered a hamburger and he thought it was delicious! I had the lemon chicken pasta, which was very tasty. Our boys had the cheeseburger and tenders, also very fresh and yummy. We will definitely go back as a family and for date nights as well.

Fieldstone ' s has great bbq. Nice atmosphere and friendly servers. All food is delicious. The only bad thing about this place is it is very small. Go before 5pm to make sure you do not have to wait. The wait is worth it though.

Having grown up literally a street away from here, It's wierd I never ate here until last year. It has been there only about 7 years, but I never think to come here because it is not in Newport. After taking Greg here for the first time he commented... "Why have we never been here?!?!" and it is now his new favorite place.... Since he hates going into Newport for dinner. Since then, we have been multiple times and gotten the fish, burger, pasta dishes, pizza, nachos.... and every meal has been unbelievably delicious! Their drinks are also fun, and the prices are very reasonable. There usually is a wait, since the dining area isn't too big, but we normally get a drink at the bar and don't even notice! I definitely recommend field stones for great food, awesome service, easy location, and very reasonable prices!

I was extremely happy with my meal. I had the lobster roll which was huge and served with fries and slaw! First of all the lobster was not drenched in mayo so you could enjoy the true flavor of the meat. It was seriously perfection! Also the slaw was not soaked in pounds of mayo which is awesome! So much good for a lunch meal but well worth the every penny. The portions are huge. Waitstaff was super friendly and attentive! A great place to come. I also had a stuffie and it was so good, probably one of the better ones I have had. Spicy and delicious! And they serve it with a side of spicy pickles sweet and jalapeño pepper slices which I have never had with a stuffie and I fell in love! Genius!

I had a good experience at this establishment. The service, atmosphere and food were all fantastic. Lets start off with the atmosphere. I found it to be small yet charming and full of decor that gave it a nice, rustic feeling. I didn't like the fact that it was a little dark but that's quite possibly just the booth me and my party sat in. I loved the Christmas lights adorning the windows and the lanterns strewn about the ceiling. It was just an overall good feeling for me as I was just chilling with the vibe of the place. The service was great also. The hostess and the waitress were both very nice and accommodating. Though a few members of my party were a little picky with their orders, the waitress didn't seem to be too bothered by it and went with the flow. There was one mixup with the drinks which was more funny than irritating. I ordered a coke and my friend ordered an iced coffee. They looked the same since he got his ice coffee dark with cream on the side. Well, I just put my coke to the side and he put cream in his coffee... next thing you know, he was drinking creamed coke and I was laughing. They replaced our drinks and no damage done. The star of the show was definitely the food! I loved their sweet garlic wings.. they were soooo good! I've never had such great appetizer wings anywhere before. They were crispy on the outside but not oily.. just the perfect crunch and the inside was moist and flavorful. It came on a bed of greens which was nice and a side of bleu cheese and celery. I absolutely adored them.. I would come back just to have them. I ordered their full front short rib sandwich which slaw and fries on the side. Again, i've never had slaw so tasty before! This place knows how to make good stuff. Their fries were great also. They're was nothing special about them per say, but you can tell they weren't the ones that were recooked to order.. they were freshly made which I really appreciate. The short rib sandwich was humongous! There was absolutely no way I could have put the two patties together and eaten it as a sandwich.. I had to go at one patty at a time.. there was a good amount of meat on each side and a generous helping of fried onion rings topping it. I could only eat one before I had to stop. Overall, I loved my experience here. The food, atmosphere and service was fantastic. Their cold slaw and sweet garlic wings were the best I've ever had and I've had a lot in so many different places. The only setback was the pricing.. I found it to be a little expensive but for a once in a while treat, I would recommend this place to anyone who is in the area.

Enjoyed a very good meal at fieldstone in Portsmouth. The muscles and their specialty baked fish, shrimp and scallops was very good. The kids enjoyed the pasta and chicken fingers.

There aren't a lot of eating choices in Portsmouth RI, but this is really an excellent place!

always busy and always good. Solid menu with good food. very good bar. I like the burgers and sirloin tips. last time i was there we had 6 adults and 7 kids. No reservations, and it didn't even faze them even with a full house.

You have got to try the Patriot Nacho's...but beware...you probably won't be able to finish your dinner(we couldn't)-it's huge. We enjoyed a great dinner in a cozy country atmosphere and our waitress was spot-on and super friendly. Two people-dinner with appet. and drinks-mid 60.00 (I had the sirloin at 22.00) Another keeper..got to try the Chicken Pot Pie next time..it looked and smelled so good and it's only 10 bucks.

i admit to groaning a bit when this looked like the only place that was open on our way back from the newport folk festival. i mean, a grill-e with twinkle lights? immediate thoughts: 1) this place is going to have terrible food, and 2) this place is going to have terrible food AND is going to be pricey. but i misjudged you, fieldstones. your tacky decor is no indicator of sub-par dining. if you're not ordering the seafood i'm not sure what's wrong with you, since the ocean is basically across the street. i don't think i've ever had a larger or tastier fish in fish-and-chips, and my partner in crime was in love with his stuffed quahog. and sure, while it's not the cheapest place around, there are definitely reasonable options to get you out and full and happy at under $20 (or even under $15 depending on how refined your tastes). quick and friendly service, tasty and reasonable food, fieldstones, may i recommend a remodel? your awful interior is the only thing keeping you from 5 stars in my book.

This place is great! Lots of good choices and really reasonable prices. The staff is friendly. Can't really ask for much more. Some of the food combinations sound great, like poached haddock with onions peppers, churico, and littlenecks in a tomato wine broth. Excellent experience!

Genius!

Had appetizers and beers this trip but it was not my first time at Fieldstones. Patriot nachos are the best ever.

Not much to choose from in Portsmouth RI so Fieldstones is the place to go. Good food nice people but not going to set the world on fire.

Bummer.
