If you're staying in the Hyatt, this place is a must go. We had a very delicious dinner there, consisting of steak frites, a fish entree, the cheese appetizer and Portuguese mussels. Everything was very good- I can't believe a hotel served such succulent steak! The breakfast buffet has everything you could want in the way of breakfast, including waffle and omelette stations. There are also veggie/vegan options, which while I didn't eat them, seemed like a welcome touch.

I have been here three times this winter and I think it is just getting worse. I'm sure your wondering why I keep going and if I were paying I most definitely wouldn't but hey beggars can't be choosers.... The price is just one of the problems I have with this menu. It's a limited winter menu with few but expensive options. At $8 the Clam Chowder isn't that bad, pretty good but for a cup that's a bit pricey. I've had both the pear&Stilton salad and the Mediterranean salads and at $10 neither are worth it. Both heavily dressed and just not that great. For apps I have had the calamari which isn't too bad but it's just calamari kind of hard to mess up. And the shrimp cocktail is $17 for a half dozen jumbo shrimp with bland cocktail sauce oddly topped with a wilted pile of lettuce and a cute little bottle of Tabasco. I don't think it's worth it. For entrees I've had the maple glazed salmon which is probably your best bet. The wasabi crusted sea scallops were so chewy and greasy I couldn't even eat them. And the fillet which comes on lobster home-fries isn't much better. The lobster was chewy and the whole thing was sitting in oil. Yuck. As for lunch all I have to say is that the bread my tuna steak sandwich came on was so stale I couldn't cut it with a knife and the cucumbers on the salad looked like they were cut a week before, dry and shriveled.

I enjoyed a fabulous breakfast at the Windward this morning, the restaurant housed within the Hyatt on Newport's Goat Island. The buffet included all the traditional items like eggs, sausage, bacon and danish, but also included a dining room chef at-ready to serve-up custom omelets. My favorite element was the sliced linguica (a Portuguese sausage) fried with onions -- an unexpected surprise. My only complaint werethe overly high prices, but as it the restaurant is situated within a resort hotel, that should not come as a surprise.

We went here on a Friday in January and had a lovely time for both breakfast and dinner. We stayed at the Hyatt after getting a fabulous $65/night deal on Hotwire. What a great getaway. Our room has a beautiful water view and is nicely updated. And the Windward is awesome. We took advantage of the unheard of $49/couple deal. We had a bottle of wine (you have several grapes to chose from), 1 appetizer, 2 salads (no choice), 2 entrees (choice of all but lobster) and 2 desserts (choice of three) for $49., Not $49/person but $49/couple. And the food was really delicious! We started with the mushroom ratotiuitte - I love when your mouth is full of flavor after the last bite. The salads were fine. And the entrees were delicious, particularly recommending the DelMonico steak. The desserts were good on average (one fair and one great). But you can't beat the price. We had a great service from Tracey and a beautiful water view. There was some room for improvement on the food for sure (but I'm not complaining - it was VERY good), but this place gets 5 stars on value, service and atmosphere. So happy to have taken this little getaway from Boston and found this place (which I'm sure in the summer would be crowded, annoying and probably not as delicious).

Stopped by on a weekday night for Restaurant week. Called about a reservation and was told the only opening was 5:30, as it was full after six. No problem, we hustled down and arrived to find the place deserted. Later a few more tables filled up, but never was the restaurant more than half full...not sure about the whole booked up claim. The food started with our appetizers which where so good. The goat cheese tart was superb and I enjoyed my duck confit salad. Expectations ran very high after that, even the table bread was great. So when the main course came out it was frustrating. The chef overcooked both my lamb and the girls pork. The waitress actually noticed and offered to take the lamb back. I refused, because I have this huge personal problem with sending back a dish and being that guy. Maybe it would have helped the lamb a little. Really my lamb was ok as it was, but the lemon polenta was just a bad call. The girls pork was pretty dry. Desert brought more disappointment. I just wasnt feeling carrot cake, so I had the cheese plate. Which seemed to be built from cheeses recycled from the breakfast buffet. Three hard salty cheeses hardly allow you to play with flavors. The fiancee got the biscuit. It was advertised as shortcake, but it was literally a buttermilk biscuit, possibly recycled from the same breakfast buffet as the cheese. It was cut in half and plopped in some grape yogurt and sprinkled with fruit. Just disappointing considering how good the appetizers where. Not planning on coming back.

Eat here a couple of times for breakfast while staying here at the Hyatt on Goat Island. The Resturant is located inside of the hotel. Had the same thing both times. A little pricey, but not really for what you get if you know what I mean. 2 can split it, but absolutely outstanding. I ordered the "Crab & Chourico Hash"...Which has-Lump Crab, Chourico (Spicy Portuguese Sausage), Maine Fingerling Hash, Sunny-Side up Eggs (or however you want them) and toast. Man was I stuffed. Loved it!, and I'm not big on eggs at all, but this one took the cake. I wish I could get this in Los Angeles. Love this breakfast dish. Just enough kick from the sausage, No shortage of crab in this dish. Definitely going back when I'm in town. If I could duplicate this dish in L.A. I would make a killing. Damm. This dish is the only thing I had here, I didn't want to try anything else. So I gave it a 5 for this dish.

I want to first start off with I don't understand why there is two different profile on yelp for this restaurant, which is located within the Hyatt Regency Newport. The restaurant is actually called "Windward Coastal Grille," according to their hotel website. Anyways, let's start off with dinner. There is a "please wait to be seated" sign at a small booth outside the restaurant and the Five33 lounge located inside the hotel. That night, the restaurant was closed due to "preparing for breakfast" was in process. I arrived to the restaurant approximately 5:30 PM. No biggie, I sat in the lounge as I can still order from the Windward menu for dinner. The food itself is delicious. We ordered mussels for appetizers, cod with bok choy and mushroom (for myself), shrimp scampi (for my boyfriend), and Boston creme cake for dessert. Everything came out perfectly. The food was cooked perfectly and you can taste every flavor! I don't normally rate food as "delicious" or "good" unless it really is. I wish I have asked who was the chef to thank them! You would be surprised how appreciative they would be by having some recognition. Staff was friendly. Finished our food and went back to our room. I was being understandable because it's off season so they probably didn't have enough staffs to run the restaurant so eating in the lounge wasn't a bad experience. I still had a nice view by the window. Morning came. Since I got my room with breakfast deal, I trooped downstairs. Waited at the "please wait to be seated." Old couple behind me was anxious so the elderly man walked into the restaurant to find someone to help us. I thought it was busy... no, it was completely dead inside. My waiter was friendly and attentive. He answered all my questions. I ordered the lobster benedict with grape juice (freshly squeezed!) While my significant other got coffee and the regular benedict. Both was delicious. I was almost done with my drink before he brought out our breakfast but no one offered to fill more or offer another drink. I guess the $4 only covers a small glass of juice for one time. Prices are higher than your typical breakfast place but because it is the Hyatt and consider upscale, it evens out. Plus, the food was actually delicious and servers are friendly and attentive. If I ever come back to Newport, I will definitely eat here again. I recommend getting the room with a breakfast deal unless you're the type that likes to get room seevice. These servers work hard so don't forget to tip even with the breakfast deal!
